I was so excited when the west side location opened. The quality of the food and service is consistent with that of the other locations. The cochinita pibil is still outstanding, and the consommé is still finer than any I've had in NYC or San Francisco. The ingredients are fresh and the salsa is simply perfect. The service is exemplary- the wait staff is professional and anticipates guests' needs. I don't recommend this restaurant. The hostess was not friendly, the place seems dirty, i had ask someone to clean the bench before we could sit down. The waitress took 10 min to get us water. The waitress didn't even offer us chip with salsa while everyone around us had them. The food was warm not hot. I order jalapeños, the waitress said it was going to bring it and it took 40 min after for some one to bring it however I was already done. You know what the biggest secret in restaurants like this are? It costs this place about 1.50 for the ingredients on the plate to be put together. Any menu item on this menu is no more than 4 dollars to prepare. The owners of this establishment know this so one day they decided you know what I bet all those people on the west side with good jobs will pay triple for this food! No brainer right? I'm sitting there thinking first off this place is way too new to be this filthy. Light fixtures under tables and bathrooms were disgusting. When your sitting in a certain spot in the middle of the restaurant you get a good view of the dish area when the servers or very rude non English speaking employees walk out (I asked about a menu item and they looked at me like why are you talking to me) he wasn't a server I wanted to see what he'd do. Anyway....you can see how disgusting the kitchen is and where there are no matts on the floors of the dish pits and kitchens and employees are slipping around everywhere. My enchiladas were old dry and the mole was thick and tasted burned. I did some digging and discovered in their recent health department visit that they had expired labels on stored refrigerated prepped food and none of the back of the house wear gloves. Let me just say, good service is rare these days, Julios never disappoints, food, service, drinks.. everything is superb, and I love it!

We arrived for lunch around 11:15 and were quickly seated. The interior is nothing like Julios on the east side. It is totally bland and cold (gray on tan). The only thing that might tip you off that it is a Mexican restaurant are the bottles of tequila lining glass shelves as you enter the front door. The only good thing I can say about this place is the complimentary soup with rice, which was very good. The chips were cold (had expected warm chips since we arrived soon after the opening hour). We ordered off the lunch menu and I decided on the beef gorditas. They arrived soggy with grease, and with cool temperature ground beef in the pockets. After trying a couple of bites and not getting any warmer food, I notified the waiter and he apologized and took them to the kitchen. He returned (maybe too quickly? Microwaved plate?) with the food and then disappeared. The ground beef was only a tad warmer, really still a bit cool, but the greasy, soggy gordita shells, combined with the cool ground beef, turned my stomach. I remember going to this restaurant when I was a kid 40 years ago when was located in Juarez Mexico! Best memories with my family! I have moved out of Texas visited over Easter weekend! My mom took us for a Saturday dinner! May I start with how welcoming everyone was when we entered the restaurant; seated immediately! Our server Oscar was outstanding! I can go on and on about him! Attentive, personable, knowledgeable of the food; recommendations we're on the money; the best server I have had in a long time! Oscar made our dinner experience great and memorable! The food is EPIC! Everything we ordered was amazingly delicious! The mole is mouth watering; outstanding! Rice and beans like my moms! Flautas just like I remember spot on! If I could select 0 that's what they would get. Service was horrible. Drinks took over 20 minutes when first seated and no one was in the restaurant. Then food orders were messed up and the staff didn't seem to care much. They all seemed to be hanging around the bar with a few doing most of the work. On top of all this, the food was horrible. Steak was under cooked and rubbery. It was not a high quality piece of meat. This is the 2nd time in a row with all of the same results. We are very impressed. This location has not been open that long but it has the feel of professionalism and pride in the food and the service they provide. The staff always makes us feel welcome and even when we have to wait we find the wait well worth while. The food is most authentic, fresh, well prepared and presented. Have not tried the buffet since we prefer to order off the menu but it does look quite good and fresh. I came and opted on the breakfast buffet. First server was manager asked her for coffee and 2 eggs and tortillas. Then came the server and told him what we had ordered. Long story short coffee took a long time to come. No sugars not creams which took another while to get after we asked. Tortillas I got after asking for them 4 times. Waiter had issues at another table came to us told us "thank you for nothing" walked to the manager took off his apron threw it on the ground and walked out. We never complained on him. What I see is a lack of organization manager is a hard worker doing many things instead of organizing the employees. It's a mess w the Covid procedures and its obvious they are struggling to have a method to deal with customers and the complications of the new sanitation methods by the way they are clean but lost with so many things such as customers and the new Covid procedures. read more

Went to lunch with a co-worker and as we were eating we found a hair in our salsa/chile. Informed waitress, it took forever for the manager to come and all that was said was sorry. After that, we could not eat our food. They did not even bother to fill our glass with water nor did bother to ask if we were ok. Very poor service. No concerns of customer care. This is the 2nd time we have gone to eat there and the service was awful and it has not improved. Employees are very slow, they take forever to bring our food knowing we are in our lunch hour. We have visited this restaurant pre-pandemic and had really great food and great service. As things are starting to get back to "normal", we visited this restaurant last night with some friends from out of town. The restaurant was not packed and the staff was friendly. When it came time to order I asked for the Chili Rellenos with Mexican Sauce, my wife had the Mole Enchiladas, our friends had the Tip Steak and a Soup. When the food came out, my Chilli Rellenos were ok temperature wise, but the beans, rice and potatoes from the Mexican sauce were cold. My friends wife stated that the soup was not very hot, but ok to eat. My wife said the chicken in the Mole Enchiladas was dry and my friend said the Tips Steak was a little dry as well. I waited for some time to get someones attention to let them know my food was cold. It was like we didn't exist. Mind you, the place was no where near capacity. The server asked me what I wanted to do, and I replied that I wanted Chili Rellenos and sides that were hot enough to eat. I finally got what I asked for, but at best, the food was mediocre. We are very disappointed as we really hyped up the restaurant to our friends. I guess we will be looking for a new place to eat. read more
