First this may be the cleanest small restaurant I have ever seen. Everything is organized and the atmosphere is nice. The employees are friendly. Sitting there eating for a half hour, a lot of people came in and I got there at 430p I got a bean burrito and a cheese enchilada. Overall the food was ok. The bean burrito is no different than what I could make at home. The cheese enchilada was similar. It came with rice and beans. And to start you get a free plate of chips and salsa. The flavoring was fine but nothing special. I've eating at a lot of other Mexican places that were better. I would rate the food a 3 So why did I give it a 4 Because the atmosphere was so nice. This is the greatest little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. It is family owned and operated with passion and efficiency. They are good. The chips and salsa are a great touch to start out with and there is nothing bad on this menu. Everything is tasty and the portions are large. I love this place. The Mexican food is truly authentic southwest style cuisine. The meat, the tortillas, the chips, the salsa, everything is extremely fresh, authentic and flavorful. I ordered the pick three combo and a flauta with beef, cheese enchilada, and beef taco. The rice and beans were honestly amazing too. Usually they're a forgotten side dish, but they were honestly on par with the main course. I would come back here again even though I'm only in Scottsdale for three days it was that good. A Mexican take-out regular for my people. Enjoy it around 3 or 4 times a month and have been enjoying the food since around 2001. The mini chimichanga appetizer makes for a great meal themselves, but it's the fajitas and red beer tamales I enjoy most. Their Tacos are great as well, but a bit messy at times simply due to the shell sometimes breaking halfway through enjoying them. Have never had a single thing I didn't enjoy. The quality is certainly above a filibertos or your typical drive thru Mexican food spot. The salsa is what truly makes this place a regular go to for take out. It's as good as any sit down spot I've ever been too. The staff is always friendly, but parking can be a bit limited Friday & Saturday evenings. read more

Love this food we drive all the way up from Chandler to get a Pollo magnifico two tacos, rice and beans and four margaritas. Really enjoy the flavor of the salsa. Review based on only what I ordered. Ordered the meatball soup, built my own burrito and the green corn chili tamale. Went around 3pm for lunch specials. Prices are great. The soup had rich flavor. Good portions. 100% worth a try. They have a big menu and lots of lunch specials options. Service was fast and food came out fairly quickly. Food was fresh and VERY filling. We came for lunch, grabbed two meals which were pretty good. The girl working who first rang us up was very kind and professional. Unfortunately, the male employee, who seemed to be the manager or other superior of some sort, was unprofessional. The sign outside says "happy hour $2 beers". We went inside to purchase a beer after seeing the outside sign while awaiting our food. We indicated we would like to take on of those beers and we were charged full price. The man opened the beer and then we paid. So at that point the purchase was already made. We indicated that we understood it was "$2" and he said that it was only for "Mexican" beer, however the sign clearly does not say that. Me and my friends were in town for the salt river and one of the guys in our group suggested this place. We went for the chimichangas. Me and my sister shared the carne asada with their verde sauce. So good. Meat with so tender. What was great that chips and salsa come with every order. We also got a sweet corn tamale to share and that was good too. As usual the food was great! The servers were friendly and helpful. The women's restroom was hideous. One stall was visibly offensive, no trash can in the bathroom so paper towels everywhere. I let the hostess know that the bathroom probably should be looked after since it was a very busy Friday night. Nobody took care of it until I went to use it again (I'm old) and it still was filthy. A manager finally had someone take care of it, his reply to me was "well, obviously I can't go in there"....really, maybe you could send a female in to check on it once an hour??? read more

Yum, good Mexican food! Got takeout here for the first time last night, I had seen this place many times before but never ordered from here. I got veggie fajitas with no sound cream or cheese on the beans. It was really good! I loved the variety of vegetables that they have in their fajita veggie mix. My guac was a tiny bit brown but not bad. The chips and salsa were really tasty. My fiancé got carne asada tacos, they had a ton of meat in them! He said they were good. Came because I saw the reviews, they never have eaten real authentic Mexican food. Salsa was very good. I ordered the flautas and got chicken. Flauta was soft not crunchy, chicken was mushy! Not shredded. Did not enjoy at all, didn't even eat them. The texture was gross. Also ordered a shredded beef taco and that was good. But this place is not authentic at all. They were in like a homemade hardshell, which wasn't exactly what I was expecting but something different and tasty. I wish I could give them NO STAR.. My husband ordered cheese crisp add chicken.. my husband asked if jalapeños come on that and jimmy said no just chicken and cheese. Ok so we order a large one. My husband order 3combo, beef tamale, shredded beef taco and beef enchilada. We get our food and the large crisp is NOT a 12in tortilla and has tomatoes, celery and onion.. This I know because my husband worked for their tortilla distributor. I take the crisp back and explain to Julian and we wanted a crisp with only cheese and chicken.. Julian tells me if you look at the menu it said what the chicken has in it or they have white meat chicken.. this was not explained by jimmy. We assumed we were only getting chicken and meat like jimmy rudely mentioned at the beginning.. jimmy pipes in and I tell him I want my money back.. jimmy and Julian both look at each other and laugh. Jimmy had bad attitude and Julian lacks customer service as he was on his phone a lot. The enchilada was ground beef and not shredded beef.. on the menu it doesn't say ground beef or shredded nor was it explained. The chips were good! I don't mean to say I'm surprised, but I'm surprised. The people were super friendly and the portions were plentiful and tasty!

This place is hit or miss. Their food used to be consistently good for Mexican food. The last few times we've been have been disappointing with missing items or food cooked not the same as it had been before. This might be due to them being understaffed/new kitchen staff which is what we were told. Hoping that they get back to what they were before because this place used to be a guilty pleasure for sure. read more

Got takeout but the atmosphere for dine-in was friendly and comfortable. Staff was super friendly. I totally over-ordered (I was hungry) but got an awesome cross-section of the menu. Supreme nachos were fantastic, great combination of flavors. Beef taco was perfect, relatively small so polished it off in a few bites. Same with chicken taco. Couldn't finish the pork pork green chili burrito but it was delicious. Maybe the best out of everything I ordered. Their salsa is amazing too, along with the free tortilla chips. Fun and unique ambiance with a great menu selection. Upon walking in you are greeted by an awesome selection of beer and soft drinks. The one taco place that's open! We had plans to go to Diego Pops, which was closed. But luckily we stumbled upon this gem. We ordered the quesadilla meal, carne asada taco lunch special and a veggie burrito. Everything was very tasty and authentic. Every order also comes with fresh chips and salsa. The big surprise is they were selling DELICIOUS margaritas to go in mason jars. They were strict about wrapping them up (totally understandable) and telling us to put them in the trunk. Average Mexican food. After dining here, I thought to myself "why didn't I pay 1/2 the price and go to Chipotle across the street for a more enjoyable meal?". We got the steak fajitas, 3 item combo (beef enchilada, chicken enchilada, chili relleno), and a shredded beef taco salad. Although the taco salad has a great presentation, they skimped on the meat and it was bland. The taco shell was more soggy than crispy. The enchiladas were mediocre at best and the relleno was decent. The only dish that was good enough to get again were the fajitas. Mix all this in with a near 30 minute wait after ordering at the counter and next time I will head elsewhere. My daughter and I went to julio's too because she won a gift card to the restaurant. Upon ordering $51 in food and drink, they said we needed a pin # for the gift card. It's a gift card and did not have a pin#. They said, "Sorry, you can't use it.' So we made the choice to spend the $51 in food/drink, and honestly, we could have stopped at taco bell for half the price and better food. Very disappointing customer service and food.
