Living in California most of my life gets you accustomed to a particular type of Mexican food, especially tacos. Moving up to Whidbey Island made me almost undoubtedly know that the tacos I've grown to enjoy will be a thing of the past. Jumbo Burrito's menu reminds me of Taco's el Gordo in Mexi/Cali. If you know the place you know this is a huge compliment. Thank you for bringing a proper taco to Whidbey Island! If you put lettuce and cheese on you taco there is a special place in Hell for you, but fret not, this place will put you back in the right path. All seriousness thank you. read more

Who need Chipotle when you have Jumbo Burrito? or as I call it: Carnitas Heaven. Jumbo burrito is family owned/operated and it shows! This quality of food here is what I would expect from a big city. The flavor & selection of meats at Jumbo burrito easily meets/exceeds what I was used to living in Southern California. Want a choice of black beans or pinto? They got ya! Want a choice of 4 different styles of pork? No prob! Like the choice of fresh toppings, salsa, corn, etc at places like Chipotle? They do it better here! For a burrito the prices may at first seem steep, don't let this turn you away- The portions are massive! My only wish is that as someone who is typically not a meat eater they had more fish or veggie options at Jumbo, like chile relleno burritos ... Tried Taqueria as a vegetarian. That meant ordering a Jumbo Burrito -- currently no veggie menu options. I decided to share the burrito in a "bowl", which was a take-out Styrofoam clam, with my husband. Their burritos comes in generous plus size portions and are easily split if you're not super hungry. I wanted black beans but they just ran out and would take a few minutes wait to have it replenished, so we settled with pinto beans. They have a walk up counter style and our server was quick and friendly. He offered and added extra rice and beans since it was a meatless dish. The various vegetable toppings that day didn't appear that fresh, maybe it was late in the day - we dined after 7 pm. The pico de gallo and chopped cilantro were fine. Tomatoes were watery, lettuce was limp. But if you want quantity, they are ultra generous! We asked for a side of fries (not part of the burrito order) and they gave a half bag (paper sack lunch size) without extra charge, fresh off the fryer. No ketchup, but they have 4 kinds of salsa at a help yourself counter, you pour them into tiny plastic cups. Only varying heat was detected, and not much taste: two red and two green salsas. We sat in one of the booths, the seats sunk in a lot. This place is a dining option if you have speedy service and large portioned meals in mind, nothing fancy. It has a spacious, clean dining area​, sparsely decorated. There is no overcrowding of tables and chairs. In a strip mall​ on​ US Route 20, the main road into Oak Harbor, just a block south of Home Depot. read more

No baby food here! This is seriously good authentic Mexican! They are not skimpy on meat, and you can have everything. The burrito is HUGE! Everything else are very generously portioned. After reading the rav reviews about this place I was very excited to try it. Walking in and reading the menu, I knew this place has to have perfected the few items they serve. I read online that everything was customizable, so I tried to ask the man behind the counter what meats were in the trays (wasn't listed on the board). He gave me single word answers and seemed bothered that I was asking. The line was building up and I was not getting any help from the man working there so my party simply left. Place is really good. I'm from San Diego, and love the Mexican food down there. This place is equivalent or better than the best places down there. Got a carne asada fry, and it was on point. They place the fries, carne, and cheese on a separate grill with a cover to melt the cheese down. Then you choose what toppings you want. They are very generous when it comes to portions. I honestly ran out of fries before the meat... which never happens. I was left with a delicious mount of meat, cheese, corn, pico, guac, and sour cream. I will go again. Also, the employees seemed to genuinely enjoy their job, and listened to the customers request. Overall very good experience and I don't normally feel that way. I didn't really like this place the first couple of times I went there but once I got an idea of how I like my burrito made it became one of my favorite restaurants on island. I usually get a California burrito with carne asada. Then I add lettuce, creama, cheese, refried beans, cilantro and TONS of limes. I've been able to eat the entire burrito once or twice and believe me when I say they serve up some huge burritos. I usually expect to spend around $16 for a burrito. A little pricey but well worth it. Put it in the oven later for about 30 mins and it'll taste similar enough to the burrito you ate earlier. read more

Fits the description - the burritos were jumbo! They have a lot of options for toppings, and a good menu of choices in general for the whole family. If you aren't really really hungry, get their junior burrito for a couple bucks less. We had in our group nachos, burritos, and a salad and all were great. Fajita chicken was especially good. "Massive" does not even begin to describe the portions dolled out at Jumbo Burrito. To be brutally honest, I've held newborn infants that weigh just as much as their California and jumbo burritos. I love that you can customize your burrito and unlike Chipotle, avocado is free to add! Know you will pay a little more for your burrito than you would at a taco truck, but it's enough to easily be divided into two meals. read more
