TLDR; I don't usually like matcha, but Junbi's matcha is so good, it has made me a fan (of their matcha). I will be visiting their storefront downtown for afternoon pick-me-ups going forward. Junbi Matcha was hired to come into our office today and serve us two matcha options over our lunch break, regular green matcha and strawberry matcha (with strawberry puree). First, I tried the strawberry matcha, and it tasted amazing. It took me a while to determine if the amazing flavor was coming from the strawberry puree or the matcha, and I assumed (incorrectly) it was solely from the strawberry puree. Remember, I don't normally like matcha.... But then, I went back for seconds and asked for the regular matcha, and it blew me away. Super flavorful, but not super sweet. They had non-dairy options for both that I tried, and the sweeeeet kick of caffeine is exactly what I need to get me through the rest of my afternoon. Order on a kiosk or request your drink straight from the employees working on the counter. Nice, cheerful and friendly staff. Then prepares the drinks for you. Decided to give 'em a try a couple of times and the first drink I tried was a Cold Matcha Latte ($7.75). It was good, but lacking that Matcha flavor that I'm used to. It was light in flavor and was forgettable. Next time I tried the Cold Hojicha Latte ($7.75). This one had the Matcha flavor that I prefer - bold, earthy and roasted notes. Not too sweet as well. Was craving some yummy matcha after lunch and figured we might as well splurge on something nice while in the area. Knowing that Junbi has many fruity matcha options, we headed this way. The menu offers lattes (with milk) and normal matcha drinks (with water, and for some reason for an extra $0.75 you can add a splash of milk cafe au lait style?), and tons of fruity combinations such as classic strawberry matcha, vanilla matcha, or even guava matcha. The pearls were sweet and chewy, and even though there was only one employee working and a few orders ahead of us I was pleasantly surprised that it was a short wait. I've heard about Junbi since I've been a loooongtime fan of JK, but never had a chance to try since their locations were far away. We came into the city for our holiday photoshoot, and I think my jaw dropped because I saw that Junbi is here! No idea how long it's been here (I rarely go into the city now... so sad), but glad it's here! The shop itself is vibrant, cute and clean, which of course is a nice mini getaway from the wonderful-ness of Market St. I ordered the strawberry matcha since it's the most popular, and my husband and kiddos also got their drinks. I asked for less sugar: I always ask for less sugar, but I must say, the matcha was still more bitter than what I'm used to. I mixed the drink pretty well (well, as good as I could while wrangling two toddlers), but noticed that there wasn't as much strawberry compared to the matcha. The strawberry was good aka the first few sips were delicious, but then the drink was just pretty bitter the rest of the day (like 70% of the drink). Personally I prefer Boba Guys because the flavors are more flavorful all around, and the ratio is better balanced. But my husband and kids are really enjoyed their drinks. Service was great! Everyone was very friendly. Four stars from me since I'm apparently the only grouch in my family. Price is kind of steep, but it seems like the normal price for drinks these days. read more

One of my favorite brown sugar bobas!! It will be very sweet (which i like) and the milk is really quality. I felt the sweetness was infused in the whole drink even without me stirring.
