I've been here twice so far. The first time, I tried their banana matcha latte. Today, I tried the melon matcha. I loved both! The melon matcha was particularly unique and refreshing! Was in the area and this seemed like the only boba spot open so swung by around 2 pm ish on a Sunday. Originally wanted to order the cardamom chai but they ran out so instead got a regular iced milk tea with boba. Drink came out pretty quickly. Interior of the shop was small, but cute. They do have outdoor seating and there's a bunch of seating in the plaza. Drink was pretty average, it tasted like the tea was burnt? SERIOUSLY AMAZING MATCHA!! AURA is right in front of my office and IM SO SAD I waited until my last day in SF to try their matcha... I got the vanilla bean matcha ($7.5) that's made with ceremonial grade matcha that they whisk up right after you order and barista oatmilk. They also add fresh ground vanilla bean and it's just the perfect combination. The matcha is smooth and naturally sweet, and balances perfectly with the high quality oatmilk and vanilla bean. I'd say their matcha is 10x better than Izumi Matcha in Cupertino IMO!! The barista was very nice and the shop was clean and super cute. The location is a bit far from me so I never made my way there even though I've been wanting to try it. One day I decided to walk home from the Caltrain station so I stopped by. They were actually closed to set up an event for later that afternoon but a staff actually went inside to make my order! Service was amazing and I didn't miss my chance to try out their tea. Being in the office means trying to discover some new places that opened up around the area. I was still feeling snacky after a brief lunch, so I was looking around at coffee shops originally until I came across Aura. What drew me in were the specialty drinks and foods that were uploaded onto Yelp. I was also sucked in after seeing they had keto friendly options and was baffled why I didn't discover this place last month when I was doing keto. Nonetheless I ended up convincing my coworkers to come with me. Sugar free alternatives and healthy?? Sign us up!!! This place was only a couple blocks away from my office. It's tucked inside the plaza nearby Google. It's a smaller boba shop with such a cute and girly aesthetic. There was only one worker available and it wasn't busy at all. What I noticed first was that their menu options were different than what was shown on Yelp. I was trying to figure out if they still had smaller snacks, but they mostly had packaged items you can get from the store. They had a small menu of tea and coffee options - this could have changed over the months or they probably offer seasonal flavors. The only hot items I saw were a breakfast sandwich and avocado toast, but there wasn't anything special. From a review I saw beforehand, I saw they had a saffron chai which I was like ouuuu count me in. However the person at the register mentioned no one really gets that and recommended the banana matcha, saffron matcha, banana latte, etc. I ended up getting a saffron matcha since that seemed the most interesting from what the barista recommended. My other coworkers got a saffron matcha too and a banana latte. Total for my drink was $6 + $1 tip. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed in my drink. You do taste notes of saffron and matcha, but it wasn't anything special. It was refreshing on a hot day, but I felt something was missing or it needed to be slightly sweeter? My coworker felt the same and my other coworker who got the banana latte said it was hard to drink considering the coffee was way too bitter and the banana was not sweet. I do appreciate that this is another "healthy alternative" boba place - similar to Zero&, but there wasn't anything I'd come back here for. I gave it two stars (debating 3 to be nice) because the barista was nice and attentive and the aesthetic of the place was beautiful, but it's not a place I'd visit again unless I was in a pinch for drinks. On another Summer stroll this time the tour of the Embarcadero. I was enjoying a little shade from the sun in front of one of the San Francisco Google offices and refreshing my aura with a banana matcha drink from Aura. This is a fun place to get a refresher. Like the neon sign of the walls inside Aura says " Good Vibes". This also resonated with the flavor of the drink. It was a more tropical taste of matcha. Usually Japanese Matcha can be overpowering powder which is hard to blend but the blend made it have a smoother taste. You can clearly taste the banana and matcha mix. Every sip was refreshing .This is my new go to sanctuary. It's hidden ( took me a while to find) and it's a gem. They also make handcrafted lattes which are vegan. They also make house made almond milk. Then you have the Mocha with just the description just sings to my aura : espresso, vanilla, house almond, coconut and raw honey. What's also interesting they offer a Latte Art Workshop which is an hands on class. The inside of Aura has a playful environment. The art work inside and the colors brightens the room. They also have skee ball and a few board games inside. Overall it has good Aura. Wandered across this place after a run along the embarcadero. It's in a quiet enclave opposite the Embarcadero with seating in the square area outside. I had seen it pop up on my instagram so decided to call by to check it out when i spotted it. I was greeted with a warm smile and hello when i stepped inside- its a very cute little cafe spot with some treats along the front of the till- and from what i could tell all their drinks where dairy free and vegan, there was a poster to notify that they make their own almond milk which i really appreciated. Purple is the main color of choice for this cafe, which is also my favorite color so it drew me in. They have a little aura board and crystal board to explain the different auras/ crystals which I browsed, and sell their own homemade granola which looked great. I opted for the banana milk matcha, an unusual flavor of matcha I had never tried before (their banana milk is also homemade!) It was delicious! Not too sweet and a good balance of creaminess/banana and matcha flavor. I drank it in 5 seconds flat after leaving the cafe. Such a cute cafe! I am glad I found it. I Love the aspect of everything homemade and love to discover small businesses like this in the city! There is some indoor seating and a lot of outdoor seating. I've been wanting to check out this low-calories, zero-sugar boba shop for a while. The price seemed very reasonable, which was definitely a huge plus. The menu featured various tea and coffee drinks and a couple of food items. They also sold packaged banana bread and other snacks, as well as jewelry, t-shirts, etc. The indoor decorations had a lot of chakra stuff. The entire store was only staffed with one person, so things were premade as much as possible. I was also drawn by the croissant sandwich deal, since croissant sandwiches are normally $6+ and honestly just a bit too pricey. I ordered a saffron chai ($5), with honey boba for an extra $1, and a croissant sandwich. The saffron chai was alright but the boba was really hard in the middle and soft on the outside, instead of a consistent chewy texture throughout. I am not sure if they make their own croissant sandwiches, but it looked and tasted exactly like the frozen ones I get from the supermarket... It was literally a premade sandwich that was heated for a few minutes in an air fryer in front of me. I debated between 3 and 4 stars, because it was cheap after all. Everything you are looking for if you are a health nut, love boba and don't want your one boba drink to become an entire meal. Just the sheer amount of sugar that boba drinks have is not good for our bodies. And hence, for me Aura is a great idea. I tried their cinnamon crunch inspired boba drink and it hit all the right spots. Their drinks are vegan, keto friendly and under a 100 calories. I mean this is as good as it gets. Noe can you expect the drink to taste like every other boba drink? No. The boba itself is small and chewy but it not as gooey as the normal boba. They have an option for zero sugar boba in their drinks as well. Overall 10/10 for their idea, execution and mission. Super friendly service and the ambiance is quirky. I love it. I can't quite pinpoint what the flavor is that gives it that "strong" component, but it is very distinct and distracting, and doesn't taste like matcha, or might just distract from the matcha flavor altogether. It's noticeably overpowering and leaves a weird aftertaste. (It also tastes like the bananas are waaaaay too green and not sugary from a ripe banana.) I genuinely had to force myself to drink it since I paid $7.77 for it. I *might* give them a second chance, since the experience was otherwise positive. The vibes are curated to a chill, dreamy atmosphere (with angel numbers for all of the pricing), and indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly and happy to give recs. The drink itself tasted like artificial sweeteners and the aftertaste wasn't great. My recommendation is that if you're going for zero calories in the drink itself, a different sweetener or sugar should have been chosen. Didn't realize until after we had ordered that this was a low calorie boba shop. I guess the review really depends if you're here for "healthy" boba vs a good boba drink. We found the drinks to be gritty and watered down. The boba texture was good but it was a miss for both of us. The more we drank the worse it got and like some other reviewers we unfortunately couldn't bear it anymore and threw out the drinks after a few sips. My taro drink was gritty and the flavors tasted off. The strawberry "infused" milk was also watery and I guess because it's infused vs using the actual fruit to flavor the drink it turned out tasting medicinal. If you know me I'm not the type to waste food or throw things out but I just couldn't bring myself to finish this drink. Ended up hitting up another boba shop just to hit the spot. I was on keto for a while and when I discovered this keto friendly boba/sweet shop I was thrilled. When you're on keto any sugar replacement will taste great lol. PURPLE RAIN TARO TEA - The taro flavor was perfect and not too strong. The boba on the other hand had a hard texture that was almost off putting as I usually associate boba to being soft and chewy. BANANA BREAD - it was very oily and had a weird sweet after taste but I still devoured it being that it was keto and I have been dying for something sweet! TO GO STRAWBERRY TEA - I loved this drink but the aloe boba didn't have much of a taste and the texture wasn't a nice mimic for boba. If you've been deprived of sweets and mindful of your sugar intake this place is not bad for a try but not overly great that I would crave for it. I was very impressed when I walked in but it faded as soon as I sipped the drink. I ordered taro milk tea and my friends ordered 2 others. When I got my drink it just tasted like colored water with some random flavor. None of us finished the drink and threw it having consumed a few sips and surely less than a quarter of the glass. I would not recommend this place. Update on 10/30: I learnt from the business owner that they use sugar free boba as a low cal alternative for a healthier life style which may present a different texture and taste to the drink. Also that the business is fairly new and training their staff too right now. Maybe it the drink or maybe it's my tastebuds? In an era of so many traditional boba shops loaded with sugar in their milk tea along with carby boba, a healthier alternative seems worth a shot. The visuals and textual descriptors are on point making everything look and sound amazing. But the actual taste is very subtle and bland; I kinda miss the real thing. Decaf Blue Milk Tea w/ Keto Jelly Boba: It looked very cool! Deep blue tea made into a lighter blue color when the fake milk was added. The fake milk did make it creamy-ish, not quite like real cow milk but not watery either. The keto jelly had a nice firm squeaky texture. But flavor seemed to lacking throughout in the tea, in the creamer and in the jelly. It was the flavor intensity level of like a La Croix. Plus it was very light so I drank it fast, almost like water, and didn't feel that satisfied afterwards. Milky Way w/ Brown Sugar Boba: Was better than my first drink. The boba had a squishy feel and tasted like the real thing, though a little bit lighter. The chocolate against the non-dairy cream felt a little indulgent. Though not as rich as real milk. I got the "sweet" setting. Didn't taste as bitter as those fake sweeteners in Diet Coke, but was lacking the filling sweetness of real sugar. If you need to forgo traditional boba for health reasons, I guess this would be a fine compromise, but I'm still missing the traditional preparation. Berried Treasure: One of their more popular drinks, apparently. It was kinda bland though, like the blue tea. It wasn't a heavy strawberry taste, almost like some essence you'd taste in a flavored seltzer. And not a very creamy milk substitute. Keto Fudge Glazed Chocolate Donut: I started by licking the fudgy glaze and it was actually pretty good. Very chocolaty and creamy tasting. Health: I was chatting with the owner (Kash) and she informed me that they use Erythritol to sweeten the drinks which tastes much healthier than normal sugar & artificial sweeteners in most boba drinks. As a disclaimer, I was invited here to do a "collab" for their one year anniversary and received free drinks. I love boba and tea, so I was excited to try it out and support this milestone for Aura! Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed by the drinks and their lack of respect for my time. I would strongly recommend against any food blogger/creator collaborating with them. For the drinks, I was surprised to be given some of their "Grab and go" drinks (which are presumably bottled beforehand) rather than something that is freshly made/customized. To get a better sense of their offerings, we also purchased a freshly made peach tea to try. Though all four drinks we tried had a strong tea flavor, there was no denying the overpowering sugar alcohol aftertaste I find it gimmicky and misleading that Aura markets their drinks as healthy drinks when ingredients like sugar alcohols are linked to adverse side effects. I personally have bad reactions to it and experienced a stomachache and bloating afterwards. Instead of using alternative sweeteners, I'd love to see their offering of "better-for-you boba" include real fruits, unsweetened options, or a low sugar option rather than pure sugar alcohols. I'd much rather have an unsweetened tea with fresh fruit and honey rather than something sickly sweetened with sugar alcohols. Reading through other reviews, this seems like a common sentiment. For the collaboration, I was promised a swag bag valued at $50+ for a collaborative reel and Yelp review. While I upheld my end of this "collaboration," Aura tea did not uphold theirs. I traveled over an hour to do a "collab" with them and spent 1+ hour editing content for the "collab" to receive 3 free drinks. I'll also add that the place was nearly empty when we went. I totally understand if a business is serving other customers first, and I will happily wait, but that was far from the case here. I'd give the spot itself a 2/5, but my experience collaborating with them brings this down to a 1. I highlighted only positive points in my video review, which I already felt was beyond gracious. It's disappointing to see a social-media savvy business lack consideration and respect for creators - a really poor choice on their part since it's a connected community. read more

So excited to finally try Aura, which was started by a fellow Cal alum! And super close to my office too. The interior of this place is so fun, with purple everywhere and tons of games, boba kits, plushes, etc. It was definitely a lot of stimulation but really engaging. I ordered the mango jasmine tea with keto jelly (basically crystal boba). I didn't really have high hopes because it's "healthy" boba, but I was pleasantly surprised. The tea itself definitely is sweetened with some kind of artificial sugar, but after a few sips that aftertaste went away. Then I really enjoyed the drink! It was super refreshing. For the location, the pricing is fair. I also like that the menu is not too extensive so making a decision is easier. They have an awesome, generous stamp card/rewards program.
