8oz Filet Mignon + Mashed Potatoes (Loaded)
Shilo B.

Getting seated here was quick and easy. Service from the host, to our waiter, and even the food runner was top notch! Food came out quick and the quality does match pricing. The waiter table touched many times, and the food runner was both helpful and personable. The 8oz Filet Mignon was perfect; I ordered mine Medium Rare. Sides could definitely be shareable, as the servings are huge. I got the garlic mashed potatoes and had them "fully loaded." I can definitely appreciate the serving sizes and fresh ingredients. The night here ended up Aqua Panna bottled water, which was the perfect ending. This place definitely keeps up the Marriott family standards!

Was in the LAX area for a three day workshop and was looking for a good steak without having to drive very far. Yelp led me to the JW steakhouse in the Marriott. Actually I've never been inside the Marriott but use their airport parking service sometimes. The lobby was busy - there was some sort of convention going on, but luckily I was able to get a table on short notice. I got the porterhouse and it was a little on the small side, but it was prime beef, and it tasted great. Service is excellent and I had a great experience. I would go back if I ever find myself staying in the LAX area again.

Made a reservations and seated promptly. Friendly server dude. Had the crab cake which was tasty and a good small starter for 2. My wife had the fillet cooked medium and she said it was perfectly cooked and tasty. I had the bone in rib eye, supposed to be Medium rare but came out medium. Tasted ok but needed a good dose of salt. The peppercorn and bearnaise sauce weren't bad but could definitely use more flavor for my liking. The cut of meat wasn't the most tender but for $80 in an airport hotel steakhouse it's fair. I would suggest better steak knives as I should have to muscle and saw the steak. Mushroom, creamed spinach and garlic mash were good size but again could use a little more flavor. All in all ok for a steakhouse in a Marriott. Wine is pretty expensive at $28 a glass on average. Expect to spend $100-$150 per person. Also make sure you get your parking ticket validated if you're just there for a few hours cos it saved me $40.

Food was amazing, atmosphere was lovely and our waiter Elvis was perfect! He gave us the best recommendations, and the best customer service. Highly recommend!

Lobster Bisque and Filet mignon are my favorites at this LAX convenient family friendly fine dining establishment. Request Andrea as your server as she is amazing. Booths are spacious and comfortable. Nice wine list and attention to details

Absolutely enjoyed this restaurant, definitely make a reservation. I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing it was, especially for a restaurant located inside a Marriott (no shade!). The steak was cooked perfectly, and the customer service was outstanding. A great dining experience all around.

Celebrated my ex husband's birthday this year at JW Steakhouse and our first time checking it out. The food was amazing and the service was pure excellence! The ambiance is so elegant and there is plenty of parking available. It was a really good place for a celebration. We enjoyed the dinner and they give you large quantity of food so you would not leave hungry. Also - they treated us to a super special dessert which we shared as it was HUGE (see photo)! Absolutely delicious and Willie our server was the best! We will be back.

What a disappointment. The last time I stayed at this hotel and ate at this restaurant it was a wonderful meal. This time it fell grossly short of that. The seafood boulliabaisse was so very disappointing. The tomato base was tasteless. No seasoning at all so much so our server was bringing us spices to help with the taste. It tasted like tomato sauce from a can. Very bland. So much so I did not make it through half of the dish before I gave up. The two good things we had were the short rib and the bread pudding. It was a big disappointment to get home and realize that they did not give us all of the food that what was on the short rib plate. We did not expect anything for free but to be told because the boulliabaisse was poor they were not charging us for the coffee and bread sticks which I was unaware we had to pay for the bread at the beginning of our meal. Next time I cannot see eating at this restaurant when I stay at this Marriott. What a drastic difference from my last visit at this restaurant.

Grilled watermelon salad

OK, so this is an upscale steakhouse within the Marriott. The food quality and ingredients are very good however the presentation and garnishments or not up to snuff. The crabcakes were wonderful and truly delectable . The grilled watermelon salad was meh. It just sounded interesting since you don't hear about grilled watermelon very often. Besides, logically, what does it really mean to grill something that's mainly made of water ? The lamb chops were good, but looked so bland on the plate with absolutely nothing to dip them in. They tasted above average, but they weren't superb. The filet mignon was definitely extremely tasty but again, it looks so bland on the plate ! Not even some vegetables or even aesthetic greens on the plate. Looks like something I could do myself at home with a grill and a high-quality piece of meat. I think Ruth Chris would've been similar quality for a lot less cost and probably a better overall experience . I expected more from Marriott, especially in a place like this.

Crème brûlée
Monica M.

Ate here for special occasion, Lisa was our server. She did wonderful, and it was very attentive. We felt honored and special. I would recommend the board of bread. It was very fresh and tasted like it was made daily. The French onion soup was very good along with their crème brûlée. I do appreciate the attendance and how they wanted us to return. I do appreciate the ambience was very nice and romantic for a special occasion, we were seated quickly, and we were not forgotten about at the table. They checked in constantly to make sure that we were happy with our meal and service. I do highly recommend.

JW Old Fashioned

The food and service are always amazing. Such a hidden gem. I will be back soon. Thank you, Lisa!

We started out with the steak nachos, they had a creamy cheese sauce, which wasn't too thick or salty. I would have liked more steak, it had a few pieces only. The steak and veggies were cooked perfectly. The BBQ ribs tasted smoky and sweet, the meat fell off the bone. The fries were nice and crispy. A great place to watch a game, hang out or have dinner.

So understandably things can get confusing back of house for large parties. They messed up made me the wrong food. I said it's cool I'll wait for the steak and fries. Then someone came out of the kitchen with the ticket from back of house insisting that it was right. So I had to point out that the ticket in the kitchen was right yet my order wasn't on the table. Why am I looking at tickets from the kitchen in the first place.... Had to wait another 35 minutes for a 8oz md rare hanger steak and fries. Everything was in shambles. When I asked for ice, I was told the bartender had "burned the ice" and that there was no ice available. I even pointed out chilled glasses visible behind the bar, but no effort was made to accommodate the request. Moments later, another employee noticed the situation and took the initiative to help, immediately scooping ice from behind the same bar where I was standing. The ice was clearly available all along, and I appreciated that staff member's willingness to resolve such a simple request. What was most frustrating wasn't the water itself--it was the attitude and lack of basic customer service. This was not a complicated cocktail order or a special request. It was simply a request for a cold glass of water. When I expressed my frustration, the bartender brought over the manager, DJ, who immediately defended the employee and told me I could not speak to staff that way. Rather than addressing the issue or acknowledging the misunderstanding, I was asked to leave the restaurant. Being removed over a request for ice water, when ice was readily available and the restaurant was not even fully shut down for the night, was both embarrassing and unnecessary. Customers should not be treated poorly for making a simple request, and managers should hold employees accountable rather than excuse dismissive behavior. The most troubling part is that the entire situation could have been avoided in seconds. The ice was there the entire time--literally right behind the bar from where I was standing. Another employee had no difficulty accessing it and serving it immediately. Being told there was no ice when it was readily available, then being asked to leave for questioning that response, reflects a disappointing level of customer service and management judgment. The issue was never the ice water itself. It was the refusal to provide a basic courtesy, the misleading explanation, and the way the situation was handled from start to finish. I would also have expected the manager to apologize for the misunderstanding rather than immediately take a defensive position. A simple acknowledgment of the situation could have resolved the matter and left a much better impression. I am very disappointed by this mistreatment and being a local is even more disappointing. My first time here since it's been Tom's and maybe the only time if this is how they treat their guests.

I've eaten at Wood Ranch enough times now to know that the good visits outnumber the bad ones. Four…read morestars feels right. It is not a diplomatic four, but an honest one earned by a restaurant that generally understands what it is and occasionally forgets how demanding barbecue can be. The Manhattan Beach location is beautiful. Warm wood, an open kitchen, generous booths and enough energy to feel celebratory without forcing everyone at the table to shout. It manages that increasingly rare balance between a family restaurant and somewhere adults can still enjoy a proper cocktail and an uninterrupted conversation. The service has been less consistent. The host stand can feel oddly transactional, as though seating people is a logistical exercise rather than the beginning of the meal. On this visit, however, our server was excellent. Attentive, thoughtful and genuinely helpful with the menu. The dirty martini and espresso cocktail were both unapologetically strong, which I appreciated. We usually split the baby back ribs and beef ribs, and that remains the right move. The baby backs were tender and glazed without becoming candy. The beef ribs had weight, smoke and enough resistance to remind you that you were eating an actual piece of meat rather than something engineered to collapse on contact. The sides were satisfying, particularly the corn and loaded potato and the entire platter had the abundance you want from this kind of restaurant. Then came the brisket. Our server recommended it over the tri tip, so we added an order. What arrived was astonishingly dry, past merely overcooked and well into cardboard. We tried both sauces, including the cherry sauce, but no amount of glaze could return moisture to meat that had apparently abandoned it hours earlier. Our server handled it graciously and offered to replace it, which saved the experience. Still, a restaurant built around barbecue should never allow brisket in that condition to leave the kitchen. It wasn't a matter of preference. It was simply bad. That one failure doesn't erase several enjoyable meals, nor the ribs, cocktails, room or genuinely excellent server we had this time. Wood Ranch remains an easy place to bring the family, celebrate something or settle into a booth with more meat than anyone reasonably needs. I'll return. I'll order the ribs again. I'll probably leave the brisket to someone braver.
