I had been curious about this restaurant for a long time, since I've been going to various conventions at the LAX Marriott for years. It did seem like anytime I had been there, it was under construction or not open. My friends who live locally let me know that it was finally open for business, so we had dinner there. It was easy enough to get the reservation on Open Table. It didn't seem like the restaurant was ever full when I walked by, but I wanted to have a reservation set. The service is very good. I thought they did a good job of checking on us, refilling our water and wine, etc. I thought the filet mignon I got was good, and cooked properly to temperature. I got the peppercorn sauce, which was a little too spicy for what I was expecting, but I did enjoy it. The loaded mashed potatoes were really good. The other sides, Brussels and creamed spinach, were fine, though nothing outstanding. The chocolate cake was just ok, but the bread pudding was outstanding. Overall, this place is pretty good. The $76 bone-in ribeye was quite tough and very very dry! And this dry and tough piece of meat got served alone on the plate with nothing else on the plate, no potato, no vegetable!! Not even any bread to start! $76! It truly seems that only salt and pepper was put on this steak, it had absolutely little flavor. AND it was tough and very dry! There was absolutely no hint of any steak juice coming from steak as you cut it, even though I ordered medium rare, AND even though the color of the meat in the center was darkish pink. Darkish pink at the center but thoroughly dry and tough! Can you believe this! Do not buy this ridiculously-expensively-priced bone-in ribeye at this place. Do not repeat my experience of getting served a dry and tough piece of meat, that seemed only to have been salted and peppered, all alone by itself without any bread or sides. Nothing at all came with the piece of dry and tough meat! I had to ask for mashed potatoes, because how can you possibly just eat this lousy tough and dry piece of meat without at least something else?! Getting seated here was quick and easy. Service from the host, to our waiter, and even the food runner was top notch! Food came out quick and the quality does match pricing. The waiter table touched many times, and the food runner was both helpful and personable. The 8oz Filet Mignon was perfect; I ordered mine Medium Rare. Sides could definitely be shareable, as the servings are huge. I got the garlic mashed potatoes and had them "fully loaded." I can definitely appreciate the serving sizes and fresh ingredients. The night here ended up Aqua Panna bottled water, which was the perfect ending. This place definitely keeps up the Marriott family standards! read more

Was in the LAX area for a three day workshop and was looking for a good steak without having to drive very far. Yelp led me to the JW steakhouse in the Marriott. Actually I've never been inside the Marriott but use their airport parking service sometimes. The lobby was busy - there was some sort of convention going on, but luckily I was able to get a table on short notice. I got the porterhouse and it was a little on the small side, but it was prime beef, and it tasted great. Service is excellent and I had a great experience. Made a reservations and seated promptly. Friendly server dude. Had the crab cake which was tasty and a good small starter for 2. My wife had the fillet cooked medium and she said it was perfectly cooked and tasty. I had the bone in rib eye, supposed to be Medium rare but came out medium. Tasted ok but needed a good dose of salt. The peppercorn and bearnaise sauce weren't bad but could definitely use more flavor for my liking. The cut of meat wasn't the most tender but for $80 in an airport hotel steakhouse it's fair. I would suggest better steak knives as I should have to muscle and saw the steak. Mushroom, creamed spinach and garlic mash were good size but again could use a little more flavor. All in all ok for a steakhouse in a Marriott. Wine is pretty expensive at $28 a glass on average. Expect to spend $100-$150 per person. Also make sure you get your parking ticket validated if you're just there for a few hours cos it saved me $40. read more

Celebrated my ex husband's birthday this year at JW Steakhouse and our first time checking it out. The food was amazing and the service was pure excellence! The ambiance is so elegant and there is plenty of parking available. It was a really good place for a celebration. We enjoyed the dinner and they give you large quantity of food so you would not leave hungry. Also - they treated us to a super special dessert which we shared as it was HUGE (see photo)! Lisa was our server and she was phenomenal: attentive and kind and caring, & funny too! We were celebrating the end of a 6 month stretch of grueling chemo, our first trip for an entire year of cancer treatment. The ambiance was like a high-end steakhouse with beautiful furniture, dark wood, and elegant lighting. The food was amazing: a lobster bisque with great chunks of lobster folded into a superb cream sauce; warm freshly made bread; best portion of sea bass ever, perfectly cooked and presented skin-on; side of grilled veggies was delicious and perfectly cooked; a loaded baked potato and wedge salad both fit for the gods. And to top it off -- Lisa treated us to an awesome 5 layer chocolate cake with ice cream!!! We had a delicious wine as well. What a disappointment. The last time I stayed at this hotel and ate at this restaurant it was a wonderful meal. This time it fell grossly short of that. The seafood boulliabaisse was so very disappointing. The tomato base was tasteless. No seasoning at all so much so our server was bringing us spices to help with the taste. It tasted like tomato sauce from a can. Very bland. So much so I did not make it through half of the dish before I gave up. The two good things we had were the short rib and the bread pudding. It was a big disappointment to get home and realize that they did not give us all of the food that what was on the short rib plate. We did not expect anything for free but to be told because the boulliabaisse was poor they were not charging us for the coffee and bread sticks which I was unaware we had to pay for the bread at the beginning of our meal. Ate here for special occasion, Lisa was our server. She did wonderful, and it was very attentive. We felt honored and special. I would recommend the board of bread. It was very fresh and tasted like it was made daily. The French onion soup was very good along with their crème brûlée. I do appreciate the attendance and how they wanted us to return. I do appreciate the ambience was very nice and romantic for a special occasion, we were seated quickly, and we were not forgotten about at the table. OK, so this is an upscale steakhouse within the Marriott. The food quality and ingredients are very good however the presentation and garnishments or not up to snuff. The crabcakes were wonderful and truly delectable . The grilled watermelon salad was meh. It just sounded interesting since you don't hear about grilled watermelon very often. Besides, logically, what does it really mean to grill something that's mainly made of water ? The lamb chops were good, but looked so bland on the plate with absolutely nothing to dip them in. They tasted above average, but they weren't superb. The filet mignon was definitely extremely tasty but again, it looks so bland on the plate ! Not even some vegetables or even aesthetic greens on the plate. Looks like something I could do myself at home with a grill and a high-quality piece of meat. This is going to sound ridiculous, but as a vegetarian, I really like this place. I've been three times with meat-eaters, when we were stuck at events near the airport, and have been happy with my meals each time, because they have a surprising number of vegetarian options that actually taste good. It was my friend's last night in LA and he wanted to go to a Steakhouse. Firstly, the ambiance was very warm and cozy. We had the BEST WAITOR. He's name is Augustine. Very friendly!! My friend got the french onion soup to start. LET ME TELL YOU....it was the best soup I ver tatsted. The broth was light with loads of onion flavor. Perfect amount of cheese. Mmmmm!! I got the chicken and my friend got a NY. We split the baked potato, which was huge. My chicken came out steaming hot. Packed full of flavor. The NY was great. But I think the roasted chicken was better. The chef came over to our table and I just complimented him on the food, especially the soup. The lighting sets the entire mood as you walk in. The staff is wonderful. The kitchen is in the back middle of the restaurant, you can see the chef prepping your meal. This restaurant located within the Marriott hotel by the LAX airport is in the lobby, but once you get seated it is very intimate. Service was quick, Elvis was quick to make sure our drinks were never empty. Everyone helped each other out, which was nice to see. The complimentary pretzel bread was ah-mazing. Dripping in butter, I could have eaten a whole basket of these. Definitely try the crab cake. Big hunks of real crab meat, none of that bread filler that other places use to beef up their crab cakes. This is a steakhouse, so the steaks were on point. Salty, delicious, tender. My short ribs basically melted into the potatos. And the sauce!!! Omg. Be prepared to pay out the a$$ tho, this is an upscale steakhouse with a la carte sides. The baked potato was big enough for two of us though, and we shared the crab cake but I wish we got our own lol. The desserts looked good and big servings, but we were stuffed. I was on such a dirty martini kick during my recent trip to LA. My colleagues and I walked over from the Hilton LAX for our team dinner reservation at the JW Marriott Steakhouse. Our group was late (and there were a few stragglers) but the hostess was super accommodating. We sat at our long banquet table and drooled over the menu of meat and side options. I split a Porterhouse with a colleague, paired perfectly with their garlic mashed potatoes and dirty martini. This meal was absolute heaven, and service was exceptional. Even though the company covered everything, it would have been worth paying for out of pocket. The prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly. Our food was delicious, but nothing award-winning. We started off with their version of the Caesar salad, which had the white anchovies. Personally, I'm not a fan of white anchovies, and prefer the more saltier less quality for Caesar salad. I didn't appreciate that. They charge for bread and butter, but I guess that's what restaurants are doing out to cut back. Found this place while on vacation with my family. Since it was a large group we made sure to make reservations in advance the day before. Lucky for us it was down the street from our hotel so it was only a 5 mintue walk to get there. The place was nice and clean, and the food was amazing. The only thing that they really need to improve in the future is the customer service. Our waiter wasn't the nicest person and I felt like we were being rushed in the end. Entry was great, Valet perfect on arrival, no reservation, but pleasantly seated right away. Great so far... Waitress was a bit hard to hear and understand, but she was very pleasant and patient, meeting our JW expectations. I ordered the rib eye and my lovely wife had short ribs. Mine was tough, more like a sirloin texture and not a quality piece of beef. The short ribs were inedible. Overcooked like crazy. I figured that though it was an airport hotel, being a J.W. It is rare, VERY rare, in my view that you find a restaurant that is actually run by a hotel and provides exceptional food and service. JW Steakhouse is that rare place. The prices at JW are pretty high, but we'll worth it. The service is exceptional and the food is incredible. If you're staying at the Marriott you'll be saved the hassle of having to drive elsewhere for a great meal. For a starter, the Mrs. and I shared the Ahi Tuna Crudo. Beautiful chucks of Ahi Tuna gathered with charred pineapple, shaved cucumber, and avocado bathed in a white soy passion coulis. A very refreshing dish. The Mrs. ordered the Pan Roasted Sea Bass and I ordered the eight ounce Filet Mignon that was cooked a perfect medium rare. As a side dish, we had the Foraged Mushrooms that were sautéed in a Chardonnay sauce. The perfect pairing with fish and steak. Kiddo had a bowl of lobster bisque and a baked potato. She says the bisque was too salty, but I tried it and thought it was perfect. Everything is a la carte on the menu. The atmosphere is formal but casual. Our server, Lisa, was awesome. A full bar is offered and JW has one of the most incredible wine lists I've seen at a hotel restaurant. read more
