Went downstairs last night for a quick late dinner and was surprised to find the food was actually really good. I got a side salad and some buffalo wings, and both were very good. The side salad was large, and everything was very fresh; no wilted lettuce or off-putting veggies. The wings were perfectly cooked, and the buffalo sauce was exactly like I'd make at home. Hotel prices are rough, but the food quality for a hotel restaurant is better than I'd expected. If you are sitting in your room right now, reading this and deciding between ordering delivery or coming down to eat, definitely dine here. The kitchen is open until 11pm on weekdays, and my Uber Eats delivery the night before took 70 minutes, even though I was quoted 20. read more

I had lunch here on a Thursday afternoon as it was the best (and only) option without taking a walk outside in the rare SoCal rainy downpour. The menu has a variety of different options depending on what you're in the mood for. There were plenty of tables and seating and it was not very busy. Of course, busyness can vary greatly based on the events going on at the hotel. We were seated shortly after arriving and the waitress was helpful with recommendations. Prices are on the higher side but I suppose are on par for what you'd expect for an onsite hotel restaurant. You're essentially paying for convenience. I had the Ensenada fish tacos (2 pcs) made of fried cod, shredded cabbage, pickled red onion, crema, a small side of salsa and limes. The tacos were tasty. The fish could have been larger, especially for the price, but overall a good dish if you're not too hungry and just need a little fuel to get you going. My only negative experience was the wait time for getting our check. It felt like a dead 10-15 minutes after our party was done before we were able to spot a staff member to flag down so that we could pay and head back to the conference. I stopped by the lobby in the evening and could see a much busier crowd hanging out at the bar. TL;DR: Sometimes you have limited choices and need to prioritize convenience when traveling. You can do much worse than Studio 12 so it is a good option to have onsite. read more

We are staying one night to catch an early morning flight at LAX. As you might expect, the area around the airport is busy, commercial and non-conducive to walking. So once at the hotel, there is a propensity to stay at the hotel. We were hungry and lunch beckoned. I had three takeaways after my lunch here: 1. Pleasant staff and quick service 2. Mediocre food 3. High prices We ordered a Cheeseburger and an Ahi Tuna Poke bowl. The cheeseburger was cooked nicely, arriving medium rare, and the cheese was nicely melted. But the burger was dry and the fries were limp and cool. It was a disappointing dish. We also ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. The tuna was good, but the salad was under dressed and the portions were small. The Daikon radish was hard and unappealing. This was also a mediocre dish. $60 with tip, no beverages. I'd likely rate this restaurant 2.5 stars, and I'm rounding up to 3 stars for the good service. read more

Visiting a friend that's here from out of town. They let me know there's a little bar grill downstairs, so we decided to get a drink and a couple of appetizers. We ordered wings and nachos, and they even let us sample their Tortilla soup. It was really good. They have a lot of vegetarian options as well as sandwiches burgers salads even steak. Just landed and stopped by to get some work done before we headed out for the day. I wasn't too hungry but ended up ordering carne asada fries. It was surprisingly really good. I enjoyed the pico that it came with. Added some light flavor in the dish. I always get sauce on the side so the food doesn't get too soggy. The meat was steak which I appreciated rather than ground beef. I will say that the fries could've been more crispy / fried longer! Also more cheese!!! I ordered an espresso martini after my work day and I loved it! Creamy strong and delightful! Stop by to grab something if you are staying here, ambiance is very nice! Doing some work and eating lunch was great. The atmosphere and the music and vibes were really relaxing and calm. The fries were a bit undercooked but the flavour was good. The cheese and steak was a very good add on to the fries. Only if the fries were more crispy that would have made this better. We stayed at the attached Renaissance Hotel for 2 weeks, and we can speak about the breakfast buffet ($33 for regular guests), the burger/fries and an experience with the bar. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and would give it a 4 star review, as it could use a bit more variety, especially when you see/eat the same things for 2 weeks. But to be fair, the food was fresh, hot, and even offered some vegan fare. The buffet area/dishes etc were kept very clean/tidy. The coffee was always excellent and the morning team members was absolutely stellar! So friendly, so catering and just really really good people. The bar staff... meh... unless they felt like you were going to tip them, they really didn't have the time of day for us. I got to witness a brief disagreement between a patron/hotel guest and one of the bar tenders (same one who'd been rude to me) and I was not surprised at the bad attitude of said bar tender. I ordered food to take up to my room one night from this same bartender, one night I'd asked if he would open my bottle of wine for me, and one other night, I asked him for change. All three times this guy was just not suited for the customer service/hotel industry. So we opted to go elsewhere, or continue to buy our booze elsewhere to enjoy upstairs. The burger/fries I ordered from this resto was such a disappointment. For $23, it was just a sad, boring, overly greasy-bunned, bland burger with a stingy amount of sad fries that were not cripsy. I was so hungry and ate it in my room wishing I'd eaten out instead, which is what our group did henceforth. Overall, the bar/resto areas were okay in appearance. Dark, but pretty clean. The seats/cushions could use some upgrading. Being a hotel resto, parking is very costly (hotel rates apply) or if you're lucky, off street, but close to the airport so keep that in mind. Very wheelchair accessible both in the bar area and the restaurant area. Hotel bathroom is right nearyby and very clean. read more

The Renaissance Hotel by LAX is home to Studio 12. We went to Studio 12 a few times during our 2 night stay at the hotel. Both nights we had drinks at the bar. The servers and bartenders were pretty good considering how busy they were. Also had breakfast buffet down there each morning. Nice selection of food. I liked the omelette station as well. Studio 12 is not a destination, but it is nice overall. read more

Nice spot in the LAX Renaissance. I had dinner here while on a work trip earlier this week. I sat at the bar, which was nice and service was great. The bar area and dining area are very nice. I had a martini which was really good. The Ahi Tuna app is awesome. For my entree I had the NY Strip and vegetables which was also excellent. The server did a good job of pairing wines with the dishes as well. If you are staying here I highly recommend just staying in and eating/drinking here. read more
