We just drive an hour to go carting and we show up and the place is rented out for a private event for 4 hours. Horrible management to say the least. Events like this should be before or after hours or perhaps they rent only one of their tracks for private events. Either way completely disappointed and irritated. For those who are not familiar with the area. This K1 location can be very difficult to find and get to. It was my first time here at this location and first time trying out k1 racing. My fiancee' had gone a few times in her hometown and has mentioned this course is bigger. Atmosphere: A large open area indoor go karting. Snack bar in the back. Games. lounge areas to eat. Seamed like a clean area a couple time trial sheets left on tables from previous racers but that's alright. Food: didn't order any food. just a bottled water and some doritos to snack on. the hot dogs looked like they have been there since yesterday ..same with the pizza. they do offer various candy bars and nachos w/ a cheese dispenser and other snacks. Races: it was my first time here and we came here on a whim. after signing up and paying for our races (via groupon deal) our wait was about 30-40mins for the first race. luckily the cashier was able to fit us in for back to back races and were able to accmodate my fiancee and i. we were able to race 2, 14 lap races. these are not your gas powered boomers gokarts. these are electrical and a lot faster. the course has a lot of hair-pin turns and one straight away. safety is highly promoted as well as the rules are heavely enforced. if you're not abiding and causing ruckus you're kart will be remotely slowed. i thought that was cool to keep the safety of others around. if it's your first time you can expect high speeds and very aggressive competitive moderate racers. i took my first race as a learning feel of the kart and course. 2nd race much comfortable. Overall: good first time. well structured business and service. a little annoyed by aggressive drivers who don't follow rules and bump your kart, but a fan of the k1 scene. next time i come will be sure to bring friends and book our own races. read more

K1 speed is the best electric go karting in San Diego! I'm not just saying that because it's the only one (that I know of at least). They've got lots of karts, no fumes (like the gas places) and it's a clean environment with friendly staff. My only major complaint here is that the karts are definitely NOT throttled the same. We did a grand prix and I had the pole position and the second place guy and I started maybe, a tenth of a second apart. After 5 feet, he was 3 cart lengths in front of me! Anyways, Great place for friends to hang out and bachelor parties and kids parties. Overall a good place, albeit expensive. Hence the 4 stars. read more

Tons of fun. Carts that are electric and go up to 40-45 mph. I have been here 3 or 4 times with groups from 10-20 people, we get the track to ourselves, a warm up lap, then a qualifying lap, then the official race and the top 3 get trophies. It is very fun, exciting and sometimes ends up in major crashes if people over do it and don't pay attention. read more

this was a super fun time. The staff made sure all of us knew the safety rules and how to operate the go-karts. One of the kids spun out in the race and they had to turn him around - the staff is very attentive and goes out their way to ensure everyone on the track is safe, etc. I would recommend this activity and this place, it really was a fun time. read more

The employees are controlling the speed the whole time, everyone else was trying to race and they let their employee Jayden which was in the race with us go faster than everyone else, he kept bumping into everyone and didn't stop us but whenever anyone else would bump into someone else they would stop and slow everyone else down in the whole group. It all began on an Ordinary day in Carlsbad, the start of September 2016, The 9th month in 2016. A dad took his two little boys, one who was 7 in second grade and one who was 8 going on 9 years old in 25 days, They got out of school and headed to K1 Speed. Once they went in they felt a glimpse of cold air in the atmosphere. Racing, there were two kids and they were almost done racing together. It was fun to try for the first time, So once their race got called up, There came another group of racers, Racing with the two kids. Even though it was their first time, they had a good first race to not try to be nervous on the next one. As soon as they were finished, The race results were not bad at all. 3rd and 4th. The next 3 weeks pass, The two kids come into K1 speed with their Grandma and Grandpa, A race of 12. They race stopped and one of the kids felt pain when he crashed. His hand was totally asleep while driving and he couldn't even know if it was a serious arm strain... so he sat out for the rest of the race and didn't go again until he left K1 speed... that was when he was so scared to go back read more

The track is awesome! The cars/ go carts are great. Everything seems brand new every time we come. Clean and spotless. (And quiet too). For that reason I didn't hesitate coming back so quick after quarantine. They have some room for improvement for this germaphob. The cashier and general manager did not have masks on. I did not see hand sanitizer for use by the guests. The counters were not cleaned between customers. *The helmets were cleaned after each use. * The cars were rotated and they did not use any of the same cars during the 2 hours we were there. I'm hoping that when they ran out of clean cars that they stopped to clean them all at once. I personally never saw a car/go cart cleaned after it had been driven. The guys loading people into the go carts and managing the track wore masks and were top notch. Safety is their top priority. I love this place and would give it 5 stars except there is a lot of room for improvement during this covid 19 outbreak. None of the online preventive measures mentioned on the website were in place. We had to register in person. We had to purchase through the cashier (no mask and didn't stay behind her tiny plexiglass shield) and sign on the digital pad (that was not cleaned between customer). All of these things were supposed to be possible online to limit person to person contact. The process took a very long time because the gift cards I bought online didn't work. I had to show emails and have the manager contact corporate. He was extremely nice and made sure we got to race in a timely manner. She told us K1 offers a free race if is within one week of your birthday. The facilities are clean, organized, safe, and well laid out for both racers and spectators to enjoy. Always an interesting time when coming here! Regardless of age, it's a fun way to pass an hour with friends! I would detract a star only for some of the other patrons that can take away from your race(s): young, agro males that drive inconsiderately (i.e, instigate and incite crashing and wall-riding with their reckless driving), but those are few and far between enough not for me to down-score the entire establishment and experience as a whole. I really like that after each race you get a print out of your personal stats compared to other racers. A nice visual of how much you suck/kick-butt in relation to everyone else! Ok cart racing fans, I've been taking my kids here since they were 10 years old. Generally, we have had a great experience over the dozen or so times we've been there, most recently last week. Here's what I love about this place. Both the junior carts and the adult carts are electric, so no getting gassed out of the place by noxious fumes during the races and you can actually here your friends and buddies talk instead of yelling to hear each other. But even better than the carts being clean and quiet is that they are fast! Buying single races is reasonably priced, but if you plan to come often, then buying the packages are a much better deal and you get more race time for the money and I think they even throw in a T-shirt. There is also a few arcade games and a snack bar as well to use while you wait for your race. Weekends are pretty busy so the wait time might be a little longer for your race and the track gets a little crowded as well. (you can't go as fast) If you go during the week in the afternoon or evenings its much better. read more

We went to K1 with a group of 7 (3 adults and 4 kids). The manager Frank made it a point to talk to us about the kids (12 and 16). and whether the kids cars or adults cars were better for them. We each bought a 2 ride package and went with his recommendation of the kid cars and it was perfect for them. After two rides they wanted to try the faster adult cars and Frank hooked us up by letting us add in another ride (by upgrading to the 3 ride package) and have us a private ride with just our party because it was slow (during comic con), so the kids didn't need to ride with a lot of other adults. They had a blast on the adult cars but overall preferred the kid ones. Frank gave us medals for the first kid ride and just overall had outstanding customer service. My son and I have been to 4 k1 speeds in Southern California. Staff here specifically Frankie, Scott, Sammy, and Spencer have been amazing! They lead by example. The customer service is great here too. Even though during busy hours, they always treated us nicely. Also noted during busy hours, they have a good system of getting karts going not to delay other guests. Another good thing about this location is their cleanliness, they disinfect the helmets after every use. read more

Race Experience: Wow! These go carts are made for adults and not for kids which is AWESOME !!!. These cars are said to go anywhere up to 40 mph (which you won't go to those extreme speeds) but if you do, you will find yourself stepping on the brake pedal or be close on flipping over turning full throttle. Nonetheless, superb experience and would recommend for adults and teenagers (not toddlers). Service: I have to regrettably say that it is garbage! The staff is made up mostly of teenagers (just an obvious note) which unfortunately, you notice their inexperience. Furthermore, their customer service is no where to be found when the senior person in charge tells you after ordering a pizza 20 minutes ago this... "haven't you see me up here helping other people! ill do it when I get a moment". That right there was the rudest response I have ever received from an employee in a business and if it wasn't for a friend standing beside me and trying to keep me in a great mood, I would of lost it. I strongly urge this company to re-focus their attention to their customer service before the only begin to receive one-time customers. Good for adults depending who you are racing with. If you walk-in with less than 12 people, you will mix up with other group. We walked-in with party of four and we're combined with group of 8 adults and wow these folks were driving / racing crazy like a lunatics being chased by police :)They bumped / hit you really hard.... The website says 16 laps but when you get there you'll do 12 laps only. The front desk people don't really provide you a lot of information how it works or what will you do before and after. What I noticed, they don't have good customer service. I was surprised when they told me we had to pay a 6$ membership fee on top of $22 ($28 each). You basically, paying $28 for a 8 minute ride. I feel like there should be a better system in place for a way to register for a time slot or see the queue with an estimated wait online. It's not exactly a close drive for me so my mistake for not calling ahead of time. When I got here, they told me the wait was about a 2 hour wait. That was pretty accurate and since we were already there we just hung out. During my wait, I tried to get food here and no one would help me, there were male employees just chatting with each other not doing much. So I gave up on trying to get food. We paid for another lap and we were waiting for our name to be called again. After waiting for a while I decided to ask why we hadn't been called and they never had us signed up for a second one even though we paid for it. Thankfully they gave a refund but it was still frustrating waiting around for another lap that we supposedly didn't have. One of the guys who was in charge of getting everyone set up for the race was helpful and making sure I was able to reach my pedals by providing an extension since I am shorter so I appreciated that. read more

Definitely better than the next closest option to use in Corona (Pole Position Raceway) which seemed a bit sketchy in terms of the overall appearance as well as the complete lack of supervision by the (I'm sure) underpaid teens running the operation. K1 seemed a bit cleaner, a bit more concerned with safety, and although still expensive like all the rest, it felt a bit more professional in general. They even had some food service and some decent seating as well. Granted, the food wasn't good, but hey... it's a go-karting joint. At least they offered something. But, the food was unfortunately way overpriced, just like the racing. The lesser of the other evils in the area I guess. I forgot to mention... the first thing our family (w/young kids) had to witness when we arrived was a group of really drunk 20-30 something males in the parking lot... and of course, LOADS of cursing. Want to bring your large group here to race? Be prepared for a good time, and expect to pay for everyone, even your no-shows. We did the large-party event for 24 people @ $60 each, which nicely split into two groups of 12. Unfortunately, we had some folks out sick that day, one with an injury, and not everyone could make it. We were five short of 24, still plenty for two fun race groups. Each group did one practice session, then each group did their qualifying (timed) laps, and then the Grand Prix for each group. All in all, it was a great amount of racing, and everyone enjoyed it. The track staff was great, on top of their game, and helpful throughout. The awards ceremony for the two winning groups was nicely done, and the trophies (included) are shelf-worthy indeed. The karts worked well, and people felt like they got a fair shot at racing. Two karts had problems.. one kept dying (needing restart) and one had some kind of poking thing on the steering wheel that gave the drivers nasty blisters. Don't be afraid to ask for a different car if the steering wheel is busted. The PA System (microphone) is very hard to understand, so listen carefully for names. There's no screen showing who's up, who's on deck, so they had to repeat often. The printed race sheets after each race were very helpful. Here's the real problem: If you reserve for a group, you have to pay for everyone, even your cancellations. We would have had plenty for a private party either way, but since I reserved for 24 instead of the 19 that showed up, we spent $300(!) on no-shows, with no coupons or credits to use later. That's not cool, not cool at all. I thought we could at least get some lap coupons for the folks to use later, or partial credit, or something.. no, zip.. $300 straight to K1 Speed. Further, they suggested a 10% tip at checkout.. Folks, that's $150 as the total tab was ~$1500. Not feeling it. TIP: Only reserve a *minimum* for your private event. Undershoot! You can always add more later. Wish I would have known before booking. read more

Great experience here with my family today celebrating my dad's birthday. We arrived right at opening - were able to race twice back-to-back and then raced 20 minutes later. The staff were incredibly friendly, the venue is clean, and we felt incredibly safe racing. I kart on average once a year, so you would think I'd be somewhat good at it. I'm an excellent driver of street legal cars, but sadly I'm average at best of the go kart kind. I think I peaked in middle school at the old FFC/Boomers go karts, or at least it felt that way. That was really the last time I had fun at one of these things. Don't get me wrong I like it and I'll enjoy myself, but I just don't think any amount of laps is going to benefit my times in anyway. These places are large, open warehouses usually using natural ventilation, so it's never really cool in here. They are set up almost exactly the same as others (sans the actual track). The amenities are similar, very corporate in the design. Couches and Nascars (uh it's Southern California people, not the south). There certainly needs to be more TV's. This is one of the few places where I don't mind seeing kids that much and a place I would go that doesn't sell alcohol of some kind. Prices are actually pretty affordable, but I'm also an adult, so if I had to pay for my kid to come here and kart around I'm not sure they would get the value of $20 for 15 minutes I might find a less expensive hobby to occupy their time. Staff is pretty friendly, though the food is pretty blah. It's not terribly gauged and overpriced, but chips, candy, and some food that doesn't need a kitchen to prep is pretty boring. They now have the headsocks that are yours to keep and no single use disposable one's anymore. I actually find they keep the helmets a little less shall we say funky. You do get a decent sweat on. I find it to me a forearm workout of push and pull and without gloves some extra gripping is needed. I find 3 races to be too much and 2 is where I see diminishing returns and a lack of competition amongst the groups your with. The carts are not for tall people or people with long legs or frankly anyone with large feet. The manual karts have some benefit, but for most people it's easier to not think about shifting or boost. Since I always do 2 races I'm not sure if you can choose the car type. It's fun to check out, but not for everyone, please read the waivers, rules and educate yourself about it first since this is very different from the gas powered go karts of yore. read more

Took our son here for his 16th birthday and the boys had a blast, they did 2 races and wish they'd of singed up to do a third as a bit of a competition with the 3 guys racing needed to settle the score! It can be a lengthy weight for your time slot from checking in to actually racing, so when they go back they'll sign up for at least 3 races rather than 2 and if they don't use them all you just have a credit but get your time slot. They can't wait to return, fun times for them all and the highlight to my sons birthday! read more

SO MUCH FUN! Came here on a stop for my bachelor party and we all had a blast! Worried that I wasn't going to be able to see my fantasy football team kicking ass but as soon as we walked in kickoff was on almost all of their tv's so we all got our fix. THE STAFF: Amazing! Everyone seemed genuinely interested in what was going on and was very detail oriented when it came to safety.
