I love this place. It's pricey, but you know what you're getting into here as a patron: this is a higher-quality, dog-oriented, people-friendly dog boutique. The staff is attentive (if a little uptight), the store is immaculately clean, and they have nice inventory. Organic/healthy kibbles & snacks, and some downright barkulicious treats. I like the transparency into the grooming room, and the day care window really makes the place feel like a doggie social paradise. Again, prices are a bit high (for services, primarily) but they seem to care and they do a good job. One minor peeve I have about the place is that it is not a 'warm' interior environment. I dropped my dog off for boarding and within 20 minutes of dropping him off I watched the cameras to check in and see how he was settling in - I saw a daycare attendant shove my dog off of her when he jumped on her and wanted to be held 3x in a minute and a half then she proceeded to pick another dog up and hold that dog instead? I called and spoke with the person handling the front desk at that time, she apologized profusely, said she'd talk to the attendant and the manager about it but I never heard back from the manager regarding it. Two days into boarding, I received a call letting me know my dog needed a time out. I tried to tell this employee about the situation where I watched my dog be shoved on sunday to ask if he was getting adequate human love - she said she wasn't aware of it but she didn't want to speak to be about what happened Sunday because everyone there loves dogs and I'm accusing them of abusing dogs. I literally said what I saw, which was the above, not that they 'abused the dog' or any other inflammatory language. This seems like a great daycare until you watch the videos 24/7 and realize the employees are texting often while working, aren't as friendly or caring to the actual dogs, and certainly aren't caring or friendly when you call to speak to them. Been coming here for years until we recently moved out of the area, but I was willing to continue to give them my business despite the distance. However, after THIS experience, I will NEVER return. I made an appointment for a doggy dental cleaning over a month ago and after sending them the vaccinations they requested, I got a call a few days before the appointment saying they hadn't yet received them. I told them that because I was driving 3 hrs for the appt. I wanted to stay on the line to make sure they received them as I both emailed and uploaded them again. However, something was apparently wrong with their system and when it didn't go through again, they told me simply to bring them in on the day of the appointment. No specific vaccinations were mentioned outside of the standard: bordatella, distemper/parvo, and rabies. So, after driving 3.5 hrs with traffic, we arrived early for our appointment with papers in hand and were turned away for not having two other vaccinations we were never informed were needed. They had four weeks and two phone calls to mention these vaccines- two I'd never even heard of - and they never did. Not only would they not take my dog, they wasted my time, there was conveniently no manager on duty for me to address my concerns/frustrations with, and on top of it all they couldn't even refund me my deposit! Needless to say, I'm beyond annoyed, frustrated, and upset. What a disappointment after years of loyal patronage. But hey, at least this experience reminds me of why I left this city in the first place; it's hell bent on making any little thing as difficult as it can be for the people who live here. read more

Daycare is amazing! I have been bringing my puppy here for a year now and he always loves it! The staff is super friendly, caring and sweet. My dog loves everyone of them. I feel safe and comfortable bringing Ruger here, knowing that he is being supervised while getting proper play time. It's always been super important to me that he play well with other dogs, is always socialized, and putting that puppy energy to good use! I love the photos they send me of him and the cute stories of how he interacts with the other dogs. Could not be more thankful for this place and the amazing people who run it. My pup and I just moved to Sherman Oaks. Anyone who lives in this area knows there seems to be about two grooming salons on every block. This is the second salon we've tried since moving to the area. K9 Loft groomers did the BEST cut I've seen on my pup in years. My dog has a really fine coat that tangles easily. Other groomers are quick to take short cuts and skin him like a cat. I have been bringing my dog here for 5 years for daycare and boarding. He started coming here before he was a year old. I brought him in about 2 weeks ago and received a call within a few minutes saying he had to be removed due to being aggressive towards other dogs. He was not given a chance to settle in instead immediately labeled aggressive. When I dropped him off that afternoon I observed his entrance into the play yard and saw as the staff inside grabbed him by the neck almost in a chokehold. I was talking to an outside staff at the time and questioned the staff's approach and was told she was trying to "calm the other dog's down" I asked why she had to grab my dog by the neck to calm other dog's down. She said "oh if your dog gets mad or bites her for doing that it will be her fault so don't worry". I was not happy with that unprofessional treatment towards my dog. So receiving a call within minutes saying he was removed was very upsetting after witnessing that. I explained how he was introduced to the other dog's including the unprofessional staff's behavior. I requested he be given another chance which they did but again they stated he was removed for "charging" at dogs. I was told he would be walked every 2 hours for 15 mins for the remainder of his stay; no daycare time. I was very upset but had no choice since we had plans that weekend. I called today to clarify if he is banned from daycare now because of that "incident" and they confirmed he won't be allowed to play with other dogs anymore. We have been loyal customers for 5 years! He would attend daycare almost 4-5 days a week at times and has boarded numerous weekends. We have had staff come out when we pick him up to tell us how much they love him, how he's a big puppy. He's made friends with other dogs here. As a puppy he was attacked by another dog while in daycare. The other dog was not banned! My dog had bite marks all over his face. Yet anytime we took him back they would give the other dog breaks since he did not get along with our dog. So a dog can attack another dog and is still allowed to be in daycare but my dog gets banned for "charging" at other dogs. This decision speaks volumes to the lack of professionalism in this establishment. I will never return to this place and will no longer recommend K9 Loft to my friends and family. Such a shame they don't value loyal customers. read more

I had gone to K9 with my little girl that passed in 2016 always great. Well today I took my new little girl for a shampoo and brush I loved her coat and ask only for a sanitary trim ( free with the grooming) but Jackie I guess she knew better than me and gave her a cut she is a pug/shitzu. her coat is shaggy and I can't believe I think her coat is ugly.. When I got there at 3 when I was told she be ready, they said 40 minutes more.. OK no problem went to get a bite but 17 minutes later I get a call she is ready.. Right??? I hate when the machine asks for a tip I feel obligated.. I know that I was off a bit today but I was told by Jackie no worries my receipt is in my file.. I called she said she asked me 3 times.. Not happening I ALWAYS take my receipts. Analise I was dumbfounded when she said that and I guess confused.. I guess they did not want me to see full cut for more than I thought.. All the employees here are very rude and it's upsetting to see how they treat their customers. I brought my dog in for training and day care and every time my dog came home he was shaking uncontrollably and didn't make eye contact with me. PET OWNERS BEWARE** This whole establishment is a trap. I brought my dog in for a grooming and left with my dog completely shaved. They do not care about you or your pets, and only care about making their lives easier. The groomers are lazy and shave your dog any chance they get, because brushing their fur is too much work for them. Then they will tell you that your dog was "matted. " The manager, Ashley was extremely rude and unprofessional. I don't know how these people have jobs. Ashley charged me a late fee for being 5 minutes late, although they never told me their policy. After confronting her, she raised her tone and told me that I should leave and claimed that I was 30 minutes late. These people are pathetic and every time I pick my dog up he is always shivering and hides under the bed for about a week. If you love your pet, do not bring them here. These people do not care for your pets. I will never be returning. Would not recommend and I doubt these people have any qualifications to be looking after your dog. I called back the next day to speak with the manager on duty, Nicole. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. She didn't apologize at all and didn't care about our experience. Because my dog hates it so much I have been putting it off but figured with the virus especially we have to get things taken care of so we can bunker down. Hesitantly I went in today knowing my dog would be horrified! The young lady took him into her loving arms as he was shivering to death knowing what was going to happen to him. He and I are normally both anxiety ridden over this but these employees were so sweet and made us both comforted. Normally he yells but she made him comfortable and he yelped only once during it and even with that hardship on her Fron him she did the most beautiful job! Also, The young darling gentleman behind the counter was such a doll! He was so knowledgeable about all the products and he sold me some Charcoal wipes for my dogs feet and was so kind to me! He generously let me use the hand sanitizer and let me use sanitizer wipes so I felt comfortable in the store during Covid19 The zombie Apocalypse we are all feeling. He was such a doll! For the health and safety of your pet, please do not board at K9 Loft. My beautiful labrador came home from three days of boarding with an injured eye. The sclera (white part of the eye) was swollen. I took him to the vet immediately, which turned into multiple visits to the ophthalmologist who agreed there had been blunt trauma to his eye. Ultimately my dog lost vision and was in so much pain, he had to have emergency surgery to remove his right eye (enucleation). See picture below. This review is partly about my dog's care while at K9 Loft, but more so, it is regarding the manner the owner spoke to me and how he handled the situation when I brought it to his attention. When I initially contacted the owner, Alex, I told him about the situation, that I'd like to handle this gracefully, but I do find him responsible for an injury that occurred while my dogs were in K9 Loft's care. He was immediately defensive. He used an analogy of children on a playground and asked me if my child got hurt, would I sue the school. I told him I was uninterested in analogies, but children on a playground are supervised by a reasonable ratio of certified and trained adults, which is not what's happening at this business, as I observed only one girl watching easily 30 dogs. He replied, "We have more than one employee watching the dogs, maybe the other one was out walking a dog or feeding a dog but we have more than one." I didn't bother explaining that there should be more than one person AT ALL TIMES. I asked him to review the tapes and get back to me. He said he would. Two weeks went by. No word. I called him again. He told me that he "watched as much of the tapes as he could," and that his business is a "lightning rod" for people. "People bring their dogs to us and the dog gets hurt and they blame us!" Then he said, "So if I parked my car in your parking lot and it broke down, I'm going to blame it on you?" Let me see if I understand what you're saying, Alex. My dog is like a car being parked at your facility? K9 Loft is a parking lot? Dog are not cars, Alex. They are not to be parked or stored while the owner is away. They are to be closely watched and cared for. I find myself wondering why this man is in the business of pet care at all if he is this callous about the animals under his "supervision." I asked him to at the very least refund my $300 and he said in the most combative way, "Why should I?" I responded with something about having a bit of grace regarding the situation, but what I should have said was how about refunding me because I am a dissatisfied customer? I said I would go about requesting the tapes, he said they are internal tapes and then encouraged me to take any further action, that his partner is a lawyer, and that he wasn't worried. Having said all of this, I know things happen. My dog was injured. Dogs get injured. It was the response from the owner that was most troubling. The complete disregard for a client. The complete disregard for the situation. Not once did he ask how my dog was doing or show any empathy. The owner claims he is not responsible for my dog's injury, but he is responsible for the actions of his staff. Perhaps if the facility was less crowded or more adequately staffed, someone would have noticed my dogs swollen eye and sought immediate veterinary care. Alex claims he holds no responsibility, but he could have been more kind. More understanding. He could have at least offered me a refund. My responsibility is that I brought my dogs here against my better judgment. I was in a rush and I talked myself into it. I told myself that people bring their dogs here all the time, and that they would be all right. I was wrong. Your dog may be fine boarding here, he may survive the overcrowding and minimal supervision by young girls who are not trainers, but your dog won't be cared for in a manner they deserve. LIARS Nothing gets me more upset than a liar. The owner just made a comment on my review indicating that the groomer showed me a size chart and I CHOSE how much hair to be cut off based on that. I WAS NEVER SHOWN A SIZE CHART. This blasphemy infuriates me. I would never vouch to cut my dog's hair that short.. and when I mean short.. SHAVED with a few centimeters left. Mind you, I could not even recognize my dog when I picked her up. Nor did the cash register person when I picked up my dog. Also note the confusion with his comment to my review. The note below my original review he wrote was 4/22/14 at 2:11pm. I just finished a phone call with him (3pm, almost an hour after he commented my review). I told him that I was never given a size chart to select how much hair to be cut off. He told me it was their protocol for groomers to show clients the size chart and choose how much to be cut off to prevent this "he said, she said," from happening. Then he requested for my email address to email me the documentation I MAY have filled out and he needs to look for it to check if I did. I was confused because he just wrote that comment on my review almost an hour ago stating that I DID fill out this chart paperwork regarding how much hair to be cut off. WHY WOULD HE WRITE THAT I DID THIS PAPERWORK WITHOUT THE EVIDENCE IN FRONT OF HIM? Dishonest aren't we? I called him out on it and said, why would you make that a public comment. Don't you think a groomer should notice this while grooming an animal especially if you are washing/brushing them? Thankfully I took my dog to the vet today bc I honestly had no idea myself it was a tick and they removed it for me. Now I will be aware and not let this happen again! Careful! Your dog will be alone at night. No 24-hour staff supervision for dogs in boarding! I signed up for obedience training for my fast-growing puppy. They charge $195 for a 5-week class (1 class per week at 9am on Saturdays) and bring in an outside trainer. I brought my dog at 9am on the first Saturday and waited outside with the trainer and a group of people with their dogs who all paid for the lesson. Unfortunately, the K9 Loft staff was NOT in the building and nowhere to be seen until 10am. (They "forgot" about the training). Since they are open to the public at 10am, the training class was postponed for 2 weeks, which is like half a year in puppy terms. I'm not writing a bad review because they forgot to open the doors for training (even though that was terribly irresponsible), I'm writing because they claim to have 24-hour supervision for dogs in boarding. They say they have "staff on site" and the staff was obviously nowhere to be found on a Saturday morning when a training class was scheduled. I tried contacting the store to get a refund and they sent me to the owner's voicemail. I never got a returned phone call. Since I processed my order online through their website, I tried emailing and tried using the "refund" button. I never got a returned email. I'm still waiting on the refund. I had such high hopes for this place when it opened on Ventura. It looks modern and clean and I was willing to deal with the a higher cost than most pet stores since they created a classy image. I thought I would board my dog here (when he grows up and I need to take a vacation). I did think the $195 for 5 classes was a good deal, until I saw the trainer's schedule and the $145-165 price for the same class at other places. Yes, K9 Loft hikes the price on everything. Never going back here for antythng any more I brought in my 8 year old yorkie for a full groom they clipped him so bad with there clipper which resulted in my dog to bleed so bad I had to take him to the vet right across the street from K9 loft they never took responsibility for it even tho I shared a copy of the vet report and pictures. The groomer was so much in hurry that day that she didn't even take consideration my instructions on how to groom my dog even tho his been going there for many years this place keeps changing groomers and there service along with the care towards our pets have gotten down. I took my puppy into this daycare(finding it online) and unfortunately I walked out disappointed. They seemed very caring and professional at our " drop off", in the morning but when I picked my puppy up 6 hours later she was drooling crazily and looked dirty and smelled like pee... also, she looked like she did not drink or eat at all ...she drank an enormous amount of water(never ever seen her drinking this much) right after her pick up. Since this was my/her first (and last time!) I asked them to follow my schedule...they didn't. I did not want my puppy get overwhelmed the first time. When they say the dog will be done at a certain time, rest assured you are not going to show up to find a wet dog an hour behind schedule. -If you are a busy professional who wants to know your dog is in a safely managed and clean facility, this place is great for you. Cons: -It's a big operation, make sure you speak with groomer not just the kids behind the front desk, about what you want if that is important. -On the expensive end. -They are dealing with high volume, and might miss doggie woes like tics, strange growths etc. -If you are looking for a professional breed-specific groomer, this is not your place. I'd been a customer of K9 Loft for a little over a year now, using mostly daycare services and an occasional boarding and grooming. The girls at the front and the handlers in the pen were always great, seemed like they really loved the dogs. However I did notice that the dogs aren't let out to go potty, they kinda just go wherever (forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's what I've seen while watching the convenient in-store cameras). That's quite unsanitary for other dogs unless they bleach the floors after each bathroom break. Not to mention it could set back any housebreaking training you've worked on with your pup. Other than that, for daycare service I'd give them 4 stars. However, for grooming... I recently took my two shorthaired dogs in for a simple wash and nail trim. When I picked them up, I should've inspected them before leaving because when we got home, I noticed that one of my dogs' nails weren't trimmed, AND her tail was bleeding. It seems someone decided to sheer off the tip or something. She has a short stubby tail and didn't go in for a cut, why on earth were clippers or scissors even near her poor tail? Perhaps there's a perfectly good explanation for that (some rogue poodle went nuts and started snipping off other dogs' tails maybe) but that incident turned me off from K9 Loft completely. read more

I took my dog on Thursday to get a full groom session. My dog came back and I noticed a small tear in his ear but couldn't stop to examine it properly since I was driving. Few hours later at home I examined it and they had sniped a small piece of his ear. It seemed like there was dried ish blood in the cut so I knew it was fresh also considering he didn't have it before his session. I called and they simply told me no one made a note of the incident and that they hadn't even gone near his ear. Overall I hated this experience. The staff themselves were very nice but my grooming experience is one I never want to go through again. His ears were barely cleaned. His nails were jagged and they stopped shaving abruptly where his head is so now it's just an oddly shaped haircut. He was scratching a lot on Friday under his arms. And he has small strands of long uncut Hair all over. On Friday we noticed he scratched so much that he became raw and swollen. Not sure if they used dirty clippers or shaved too much to where it itched. After my call and basically being dismissed and basically being told "wasn't us because we didn't touch his ear. Boarded our dogs here over the holiday break. They both got SO sick!! Horrible diarrhea and throwing up!! No thank you! I gave them 2 stars because I do like their grooming salon. They do a good job for a good price. Just stay away from boarding your dogs here and you'll be fine. read more

Disappointed in this place. They never told me that they won't let my dog play and they had been keeping him locked up all day. We payed for free play and my poor dog was locked in a cage for a week. Then they lied when I picked him up. When I found out, I asked what the problem was, because my dog plays with lots of other dogs and has never been aggressive. They said that my dog was never aggressive, but that another dog would pick on him and start fights. Never again. read more

Their groomers don't know what they are doing! I took my German Shepard for grooming, when I picked her up she was clean and smelt really good, the groomer told me " I used a de shedding tool on her and so you are not going to see her on your floors any more" I did not think any thing of it, but in about a few days after I realizes when I try to pet her she cries and moves away. So I started to look through her skin and I saw there were so many scabs on her back. Then I realized they had scraped her so much with the tool that had gone through her skin. It literally took a month for her to feel normal again. I would never use their grooming service again. read more
