I love this shopping area! I haven't fully experienced the whole place yet because it's HUGE, it honestly needs a full-day excursion to explore everything. But from what I've seen so far, I'm already obsessed! There are so many Hawaiian-style stores that I've never seen before, plus tons of shopping, clothing, and dining options. Some of my favorite spots are here like SoHa and Jollibee. There's also Foodland, Macy's, a gym, and even a Hampton Inn nearby, which makes this area super convenient for both locals and visitors. And let's talk about all the food and fun: Cheesecake Factory, Taqueria Ranchero, and the movies?! Such a good mix of everything. Also... I'm happy to report there's a bathroom nearby by Olive Garden (which is honestly a BIG deal when you're out shopping all day in Hawai'i ). This shopping center is MASSIVE! Admittedly, I have become a town snob with age. Rarely do I venture outside the "Honolulu" district (Hawaii Kai to Salt Lake is my radius ring) unless a special occasion calls for it. I blame gas prices but really, it's laziness. What brought me out to the 96707 was a new store that popped up just a hop away. Plus I've heard great things about KMA. So why not kill two birds with one stone? I love the array of shops and restaurants! Kapolei in general is bustling with so many shopping centers, you can make a day out of it! I grabbed a shirt from Spencer's, fashion jewelry at Lovisa, and even checked out the movies that day. Will check this place out again with my husband and young boys. Shopping Center in Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i... Ka Makana Ali'i is one of the newer shopping malls on the Island of O'ahu. The only things that townie locals (from Honolulu) wouldn't like would be that it's "far away" and that it's open-air. The good things are that it's less crowded (compared to Ala Moana Center, Kahala Mall, Windward Mall, and Pearlridge Center) and the parking is free! The restrooms are in the Food Market area. Had a nice staycation at the Hampton Inn, which is connected to the mall. Lots of parking. On Wednesday and Sunday there's a market with live music and vendors. They have lots of seating in the grassy area. I like to take my time at the different shops and vendors. They have a kiosk with fresh mini donuts that are really good. They have several restaurants to choose from if you want to have a nice sit down dinner. Really close to the waterpark, Ko'olina lagoons, and Kapolei's other shopping areas. read more

Arrived half an hour early but it's perfectly fine since I'm on a massage chair that works under an umbrella for shade, nice strong breeze, airplane soaring above and gentle contemporary Hawaiian music being played. Went to look for some local Hawaiian wear and Ala Moana Shopping Center has gotten away from Hawaiian wear and a lot of the store don't have local fashion wear! So we had to take the drive to the west side which had so many locally owned shops and businesses with a variety of Hawaiian wear! A gem on the west side if you are looking for great Hawaiian wear! And don't want to go to Waikiki or the swap meet, which has Hawaiian clothing but more made for the tourist wear! The are was clean and the restaurant and shop was great and lots of parking and not that crowded, so if you dislike the crowds in Waikiki and Ala Moana, you should check them out! read more

Did ya know that the Ala Moana Shopping Center isn't the only open air outdoor shopping center on Oahu? Have you folks ever heard of - Ka Makana Ali'i? Yup, yup....da Westside also has a major outdoor mall to serve the people of Oahu. Honestly, it's a haul for me to get out to Ka Makana Ali'i, but if I'm ever doing some work on the Westside, sometimes I might pop by to check it out, and maybe get something to eat at the little food court. Although this outdoor mall is no where as big as Ala Moana Shopping Center, Ka Makana Ali'i does have the basic stuff like - restaurants, a small food court, theater, a gym (24 Hour Fitness), a hotel just next door to the mall, rental car agency, and lots of free parking! Ka Makana Ali'i is hands down a much better shopping experience than any mall on Maui--there's simply no comparison. The variety of stores, dining options, and overall atmosphere make it a true lifestyle center rather than just a place to shop. If only Maui had something like this! I lm starting to love it here!!! Even if the place is closed, the out door has the center stage and parents are just chillin with their keikis. Letting them unwind and burn some energy before leaving! LOVE IT! It's spacious for the kids and there's plenty of seating for adults and tables for those who wants to eat here or even just relax. Great If You Love Strip Malls... Less So If You're a Tourist Looking for quirky souvenirs, local charm, or fun little knickknacks? Keep walking. This isn't that mall. This is definitely not my favorite mall, particularly because of the high concentration of rude non-locals. I've had one pretty terrible experience with a military guy over a parking spot. It ruined my entire perception of the mall. I get that maybe that's not a fair judgement call, but I honestly would choose to drive to pearlridge over Ka Makana Ali'i. It's a little sad too because I love kickin kajun, aunty's ramen, foodland, moani and hapa girls. There are an interesting mix of stores. However, now I can just go across the street to chick fil an and call it a day too. I appreciate that management seems pretty knowledgeable in Hawaiian Language and culture. I like when businesses aren't just appropriating Hawaiian customs. For example, I recently saw a holiday light up display of the word "'ohana" for people to take pictures with and I was pleasantly surprised that they spelled 'ohana correctly with the 'okina. Will I be back to Ka Makana Ali'i? Yes. I love Aunty's Ramen and this is the only location (I'd rather go to Windward mall for kickin Kajun and hapa girls and I'd rather go to Waikiki for Moani and Foodland). First review of 2024! Tourists, you can skip this mall as Ala Moana Center has more than enough. This mall just became more useful to me, now that I live much closer to it. Ka Makana Ali'i serves its purpose to locals of providing mall staples (Macy's, Victoria's Secret, and the only H&M outside Waikiki!), a gorgeous movie theater, tons of fast food which are frankly better than the food court itself, and plenty of sit-down restaurants to choose from in the Kapolei area. Kapolei and Ewa Beach residents won't have to drive to town for Gen's, Olive Garden, and Cheesecake Factory! This mall doesn't have a Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshall's (I'm a bargain hunter), or any quality boba shops, so four stars lol. The mall does seem kid-friendly though, and a great place to stroll without having to buy anything. Parking during Christmas off-season is usually a breeze and free! This mall is usually less crowded than Pearlridge Center. I personally don't believe taking the rail is a good way to get to this mall. Just take H-1 west to exit 2 (the UH West Oahu exit), turn left, and continue until you see the mall to your left. The places that would make driving all the way to this West side mall worth it for a townie: - Olino Consolidated Theatres - Valyou Furniture (wider selection than the town location) - Aunty's Hotpot (same aunty from Aunty's Ramen in McCully) - a non-touristy Cheesecake Factory - free, wide parking with several sit-down restaurants to choose from Other favorites of mine and places Westsiders can enjoy without driving into town: - Foodland Farms - Jollibee - Wendy's - Gen's Korean BBQ - Moena Cafe - Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf - Olive Garden - Macy's - Jean's Warehouse - Taqueria El Ranchero, if I feel like splurging on good Mexican food - California Pizza Kitchen - Koa Pancake House - The upcoming Scratch Kitchen - Can I count Chick-Fil-A across the street? This is clearly not a touristy mall (no Big Island Candies, Honolulu Cookie Company, or crack seed store??). Tourists' best bet to buy souvenirs this side of the island is Longs Drugs across the street. Macy's does have a decent selection of Aloha shirts though. This is the newer outdoor mall in Kapolei just off of Kualakai Parkway and Kaplei Boulevard. It's an outdoor mall so can be hot during the day. They have numerous restaurants some of which have come and gone. Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen are a few to name that I like eating at. They have recently added Olive Garden and Aunty's Hot Pot which I have not visited just yet but hope to soon. They have many stores but not too many stores that I would shop at and nothing like Ala Moana or Pearlridge. Kamakana Alii has its own vibe and also several local brand stores. They have an open courtyard and an area for performances which is nice. Many families will come and you can see many children playing there. Twice a week, they have a farmers market. Wednesdays from 3pm-7pm and Sundays from 11am-3pm. They gave many produce, crafts, and ready cooked meals which is great! They have Olino Theatres and Foodland Farms which is Awesome! The food court has a variety of eateries and many other food spots like Cinnabon, Alyssandra's Lumpia Express. Lots of parking....that is the first thing that comes to mind. Added an Olive Garden a couple of months ago. But there are still some empty storefronts. With Macy's, Five Guys, Old Navy, H&M, CPK, and The Cheesecake Factory - it resembles a mall on the Mainland. Shopping for family on the mainland . Went to the HI Store to purchase some shirts and caps. Had 5 employees on the floor. 4 girls reg area 1 boy stocking merchandise. No one told me hello or ask if I needed assistance. Looked at a few Items and left. I decided to go to HIC Instead to purchase my items. They were nice said hello. And when I needed help I asked. Maybe I was expecting more, but this shopping mall was pretty bland in general. I would give it closer to 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. During the time we went, it seemed like this was a place where a lot of the local teenagers hangout. We went since they had a free shuttle from all the Ko Olina hotels, which is a nice touch, but almost all the stores are similar to the mainland, other than a few surf shops or stores with very specific "mom and pop" type merchandise from Hawaii. I think the best thing about this mall is that they had a Foodland Farms across the parking lot. I think this is little "fancier" than their regular Foodland supermarkets. If we're ever in the Ko Olina or Kapolei area again, we probably wouldn't stop by here unless we really needed to shopping for something specific. read more

The Center for West O'ahu is a blessing and a great start to having some sort of place to go to get your errands and a place to go. Out on the west side the closest major mall would be Pearlridge which is still quite a distance and Kamakana Ali'i yes is small in comparison to the other major malls but for the quick bite, gift or relaxing hangout it's exactly what is needed in this area. The only downside is it's very outdoorsy and can be hot during the summertime but if you're in the area which I frequented when I had a bestie that lived in Ewa we did enjoy coming here quite often as we never had to struggle for parking and crowds. What is amazing is that you can find an incredible amount of local merchants that you rarely see at any other malls that it feels like you're at a local craft fair and is nice to manually seem them versus online ordering. Food court is painfully incredibly small but conveniently do have a few free standing fast-food and restaurants near by including a Foodland Farms. #26 for 2020 I love coming to this mall to meet friends for dining and movies. The Olina theater has the reclining seats for a little higher price I don't mind paying for. Limon and Cheesecake Factory are my go to restaurants here. Really like Limon serving Peruvian food. Nice to relax at the bar or outside. This location of Cheesecake Factory is better than the crowded Waikiki location. Thank goodness this is way over to the west side. Magnolia Ice Cream is in the food court for an alternative dessert spot. I've hung out at Coffee Bean but the noise level is high. There is more than adequate parking but can be tough if you're trying to get a spot close to the food court or Cheesecake Factory. There is more parking on the other side where they have 24 Hour Fitness and Wendy's. Wifi is available for free. Some times it is spotty. Don't like getting all the sale msgs either but that's the cost of their Wifi. I'm not much of a mall shopper but I do like how spacious it is. When it does rain it is tough to avoid it unless you run into a store for cover. read more

Today I checked out Ka Makana Alii mall. It was very slow for a Saturday afternoon. The only shop had a line to enter was San Lorenzo bikini shop I guess they had a big sale . I walked around the mall and it felt like I was in Las Vegas. It reminds me of the Premium Outlet mall that's located behind The Plaza hotel lol. The only thing difference was no everyday Sale going on. When you shop at the outlet mall in Vegas everyday there's special going on. Also I haven't been to the Ka Makana Alii for awhile I was amaze there's a food court in the middle of the mall and once again same like Vegas. I think when they build this mall they used the same concept as The Premium Outlet in Vegas. I was craving for some lumpia so decided to check out Allysandras kiosk yes thank you Nadine C. Haven't been out Ewa side in like a decade so I was tripping out at the newly gentrified areas. This place was a surprise to me because it looked so continental US but I guess most places in Hawaii look like that these days. (Sadly.) This place is pretty cool though, it seems to help keep the people who are living in the area busy and employed. Last weekend my girlfriend and I drove t down from Wahiawa Peterson Egg Farm, Schofield Barracks then to our first venture to Ka Makanani Ali'i Mall. May I say the shopping mall spacious fun place for all ages to go to. I wasn't too familiar with the mall but it's super awesome place to go to! I went down to the Makeke last day sale. My girlfriend and I bought bargain galore fantastic local artist items sold only at the shop and online. I'm in house see items then buy! Yesterday my hanai son from Tokyo came to O'ahu for his honeymoon! They were so surprised to see the shopping complex they love it! When we got there from Waikele Outlet Shop they had to use the water closet. We went to towards the theatre he soon came out no can without tickets so I dared in asked the front young man. He kindly said of course you can use the rest rooms! They hurriedly went in with their baby in toll. He told me how friendly Hawai'i people are! Truly this place has the hospitality of the true Aloha Spirit! I went back to the food court to buy their awesome chicken wings and the only number one Korean plate lunches to go! The owner told me she makes the beets daikon pickled side dishes by the request from her customers who loves it. I got hooked. Their Kalbi plate, ohm greatness no where did I have eaten such soft meat and juicy in their sauce! Their fried oyster another recommended 10 pieces with their home made special dipping sauce! Everything on the menu soooo good! The Infinity Cafe (I think that's the name) their black coffee was superb! Hey city folks support local! There's a few shops there. I like to take the drive out to Ka Makana Ali'i every now an then for different scenery and some different stores... Although it's smaller than Pearlridge, sometimes you have to just change it up! Ka Makana Ali'i has it's pros and cons, but does everything else. One of my favorite things about this mall is the turf area where all the kids play! My son absolutely loooves it! He loves making new friends there, it's free to hang out at, it's covered, but still outdoors. What's not to love about it! Another unique thing I like about Ka Makana Ali'i is the hotel, right at the mall next to Moani! We've stayed there too, after a fun night at Moani's for my husband's birthday. So, although small, Ka Makana Ali'i has a great range of stores and eateries! It's almost like a cross between Pearlridge and Ala Moana! Lol. read more

An open shopping mall located in Kapolei. It took me awhile to remember the name. It's not catchy or easy to remember like Ala Moana or Pearlridge. I highly recommend wearing a hat and or sunglasses shopping here because unlike Ala Moana mall it is very open, sunny, and hot unless you're planning to stay at the food court area. The team did a great job selecting and contracting the stores here. You have mega stores like Macy's then there is Victoria's Secret, Pet smart, American Eagle, Holister, Zumies and more. There is a food row that includes Pandas, infinitea, Bon's chicken, Subway, Bento, L&L and others. Sit down restaurants....ready for it Cheesecake Factory! My favorite in the mall is Limon. Others are Applebee's, CPK, Sura..... Drive thru Wendy's and Jollibee How convenient there is Olina Movie theater, Hampton Suites and 24 hour fitness in the complex. Soon to be open is Foodland and an area called "The Grove" (not sure what will be in here) Why 3 stars.... the fact that the sun is just beaming hot in the West side and there are showers. Where is the shade from this hot hot heat and the passing showers. Hopefully Phase 2 includes adding more shaded sitting areas also awnings over the store entrances so you have some protection as you walk thru the mall. I came because I wanted to check out the farmers market. But I was disappointed that the courtyard farmers market only had jewelry and crafts. No fresh produce. I had some ice cream and got my nails done so that made me feel a bit better. I just wished the website was more specific about this so/called farmers market. I would not have driven from Waikiki in a Sunday afternoon when I realized all others farmers markets are closed. The mall I don't think has anything special but can't judge since I didn't really shop. read more

One of the newest mall in Kapolei, it has many of the National retailers like H&M, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body, Macy's, Hollister, Forever 21, just to name a few. Not only there's shopping, they also have a good selection of dinning options, like Cheesecake Factory, Sura, Bukchon Chicken, Magnolia, again, just to name a few. Honestly my only reason I continue to visit this mall the Wednesday and sometimes Sunday farmers market. The Wednesday evening farmers market is much more busy for obvious reasons more vendors and its cooler and they sometimes have entertainment at center stage esp during the holiday season. On Wednesday evening my fav finds are local honey, ulu chips, ulu/poi, haupia/kulolo, Hawaiian plate, tacos, butter mochi, crinkle cookies, kulolo mochi, ube and pai'ai haupia crunch from numerous vendors. Of course produce for the week, crafts and much more. Sundays they are limited to Ridge's Wooden Spoons baked goods (kid baked and operated business) and a produce stand. read more

This mall is cute for the leeward side, where it's easy to be a fresh outdoor setting year round. It has a little of everything, but not a whole lot of anything, if you know what I mean... Each store is pretty much unique here, so it's easy to get through the mall in under an hour while still browsing the few shops you decide to drop into. There's a cute trackless train that is driven around with kids in tow... what fantastic options they have for the wee ones now! Gone are the days of grocery storefront metal horses for a mere quarter. I like that G by Guess is arriving soon (although the sign *did* say Winter 2018, just sayin). This mall has all of our cheat day vices in a one block radius, so that's something out of Awesome Town... Cinnabon, Magnolia, Cheesecake Factory, and Jollibee.
