    The Soltani kabob

Ok for non Iranians who have never tasted real chelo Kabab this may be ok . But for Iranians , not even close. I tasted the following. Tadig with two kind of stew. The rice portion was good. The Ghormehdabzi ( green stew) was acceptable. The Ghaimeh (brown stew) was sub par. ( don't tried it) . The main dish Soltani Kabab which includes Kobideh and Barg beef Kabab. As the food arrived I knew the problem. The Kobideh mix included baking soda, the meat puffed up like a sasuage. It was terrible , really . The Barg was prepared ok, too much meat tenderizer to mask poor meat quality. For $37 I think you could do better. This was my first and last time at this place.

What a great Kabob restaurant this place is! I've been a fan of Massis across the street but after coming here I think I found my new favorite spot! When I saw the prices, I first thought "Hmm okay it's a little pricey than the other places I go to.." but when the food came out I said "Okay the prices are justified haha" when our waiter brought out our food I was shocked with how much food you get! Everything was hot and came fresh from the grill! My wife and I were so happy with our order! The restaurant was very clean and the service was wonderful! The guy who took our order was very friendly! My new favorite Kabob spot for sure! Yum!

I've been to this restaurant twice now. The first time I thought it's okay. After going again, though, I have to say the food just isn't that great. The service could use some improvement, and this is the second time they've forgotten the salad and lavash. The flavors aren't very strong, and overall the dishes feel a bit underwhelming. I do think this place has potential, but something always seems to miss the mark. Maybe the lunch special just isn't their strong suit.

Kabob village is one of my family's frequent spots. Portions are large enough to share between two people and pretty tasty. Though, many times we've gone and they've been out of items, even around 11 am. They provide free tea and bread to snack on with your order which is a plus!

No where in LA the luleh kabob taste as good as this... literally, mouth-watering, succulent, melt-in-your-mouth luleh kabob. The server, Kamiar, was friendly and very accommodating. The lunch special portions were healthy balanced with zereshk polo (extra $3.00 well woth it) impeccable luleh kabob, bar-b-q tomato and pepper, and salad with fresh ingredients of Persian cucumber, lettuce, tomato and red onions topped with citrus dressing, included with self served Persian tea. All these reasonably priced... an epic experience of luleh kabob, forgot to mention about freshly baked bread, and flavorful kashk badenjan, with crispy onions, ambiance was welcoming as with comfortable seats

Delicious food and friendly service. The complimentary tea is great.

Not sure about the hype here at all! Expensive, mediocre taste, dirty floors, tables, chairs, entry doors, yawning and tired looking workers. No interest to really cater to you and make you feel special. So why go there if they don't care to see you or have you. Bottom line, typical one and done! So many other options around. I had Koobideh and the smallest portion of Kashko-badmjune (eggplant dip) for $28!!! A take out order, and the order sat there waiting for me to go back up the cashier 10-15 minutes after order was ready with me sitting there 10 feet away alone with only 2 other customers inside. Like I said tired staff and disinterested. Highly disappointed.

If you are dining solo, just one beef or chicken kabob will be enough (includes rice or half rice/half salad)!!! If you are not dining solo, just go for one of the family platters as it only comes out to $3 more for wayyyy more items. That being said, the food here is great, everything tastes good, but don't forget to purchase a sauce on the side because just having the meat & rice gets dry. The reason I'm docking 2 stars is because the TV menu screens transition so quickly it is literally possible to read and you have to spend 5+ minutes just trying to understand the menu. Another issue I had is the water cups are so small I had to get up so many times to refill my lil cup. Other than these fixable issues, the restaurant itself is nice and clean and the staff is helpful with the menu. Oh, and beware of a 3.5% CC processing fee!

Not tasty, the koobideh is chewy, even they did not bother to grill one red tomato for the meal, it was white.

They were supper attentive and friendly. After I ordered I sat outside to people watch which was honestly really nice. Reminded me of Paris. My food came promptly thus after. The Tumeric braised chicken is amaaazzzinggg the chicken is so juicy and falls off the bone. The rice has some sort of crunchiness to it that compliments the entire flavor profile of the dish. The eggplant dip reminded me of the one my grandmother makes, dipped with the chicken made my meal feel really nostalgic. I've been back four times since and never regret it. One of those meals that just makes you feel really good after!

Recently, we were curious if our old go-to, Javan, was still any good. So, my wife and I dined there. The beef and chicken koobideh entrees were both excellent- so tender and juicy. This weekend, we have some friends visiting from San Francisco. As SF is a fantastic food town in its own right, we suggested two different food options that are better in L.A. than what you'll find up there: Korean BBQ or Persian food. The wife pushed a return to Javan. Alex, the manager, recommended the All Javan Combo for our party of 5. It includes tzatziki, hummus, salad, and flatbread to start followed by beef and chicken koobideh, chicken kabob, filet, lamb, and choice of rice. We added an eggplant stew with lamb shank and an extra skewer of chicken koobideh. Finished the meal off with hot tea, a sublimely-delicious saffron ice cream (house-made by Alex himself), baklava, and little bites that were like honey churro nubs. After we finished this feast of a meal, my daughter looked up at me and said, "This was one of the best Persian meals I've ever had." I must agree. This was a meal greater than the sum of its parts- food was very, very good and the experience was elevated by the warmth of Alex and his staff. It's rare that a restaurant works this hard to make its guests feel welcome. Free street parking and a full-bar (Alex is happy to whip-up a special cocktail for you). I give Javan my highest recommendation. Please eat here if you're in the mood for Persian food. Bon Appétit!

We ended up ordering 1 combination appetizer and the dolmeh was good. Usually I may not like the flavor at some places, but this one I was able to eat. We ordered Juicy chicken (2), koobideh Kabob, Naderi kabob(2) and boneless lamb (2). They were able to plate them family style for sharing and so we got the mixed rice so we can try one od each type. They were nice enough to give a little extra rice to make the presentation of the plate look full. We were able to get 3 salads to get served family style as well. The sadaf salad came in the biggest plate to share, the beet and shirazi salad came in smaller portions. The chicken was big and juicy! All the meats we ordered tasted good... soft and tender. I really enjoyed the beet salad as it also had some sweetness to it. The mixed rice variety allowed us to try all the choices: Albaloo had sour cherries in it, Zareshk had barberries (was my husband's favorite), baghali has lima beans and dill, Asas has lentils raisins and dates making it a sweeter rice dish. They could have provided more bread for our appetizer platter and since we had more people but if you ask for more they will bring more. Everyone enjoyed the food. We did have a lot of leftovers so it would have been nice for our server to let us know to order a little less. We probably could have gotten away with a couple orders less. Also would be nice if they have some kind of chili or hot sauce or peppers for those that like a little more spice to their meal. It wasnt too busy when we went (but it was a weekday) so our party felt like everything turned out well food-wise and service was attentive, just a tad on the pricier side (Juicy chicken is $28 for 5 pieces and rice, and lamb and Naderi were $40 &$39).

Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. My family and I went here one afternoon and as we sat down, the attendant from the restaurant told us that the specific table we were sitting on wasn't part of the restaurant and we were not going to be served if we sat there in a very rude tone. We went ahead and moved. Then we went up to the cashier to order our food and the two people that were there were busy talking to each other in farsi about a customer that just came and didn't tip along with some very vulgar language. Then as we were ordering, we told them it was our first time and we got no smile or anything, very still faces like whatever. We ordered two Koobideh wraps and a few other things. It was very uncomfortable. The Cashier didn't even speak to us. As we sat down we were "served" after we HAD to ask if we get bread and onions and water because we saw that they were taking those things to other tables. The Koobideh wrap tasted like Rubber and you could barely hold it together as it was drenched with the sauce and all soggy. Even my 1 year old wouldn't eat it. We had to open up the sandwiches and eat them with a fork. It was not a good experience. Tip for the owner: You should probably remind your employees that some of your customers are Persian and they will understand them talking shit.
