They are one of the best Persian food in LA! Really tasty and juicy kabobs. Well made khoresht and tahdig. Service is quick and the ambiance is very cozy and nice, we for sure need more Persian restaurant like this.

Ambiance: it's a stylish bar restaurant located in DTLA, they have outdoor patio and spacious indoor dining area, and private room upstairs Service: very friendly, although it took a while to place the order, food was served fairly fast Food: plenty of choices for variety of food, as they have three sets of menu for happy hour, pizza, and regular TRIO SAMPLER - ***** HUMMUS, TZATZIKI, SHIRAZI, and LAVASH BREAD, very fresh and tasty, highly recommend Gheymeh Bademjoon Stew - **** tomato sauce, yellow peas, beef, savory and rich in flavors, recommend Price: moderate portions and decent quality, expect $20+ per person for a comfort meal, very reasonably priced in downtown

Probably the best Persian food I've ever had and reasonably priced! I ordered the chicken kabobs, and they were absolutely perfect, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor. The restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable, making for a relaxed dining experience. The service was superb, and the owner, Ali, truly makes you feel like family. He's happy to suggest dishes if you're new to Persian cuisine, which adds a personal touch to the meal. If you're ever in Los Angeles, make sure to have dinner at Shekarchi, you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful restaurant in DTLA. Very open, full bar, service was great. We ordered the soltani entree with shirazi salad and a side of fries. Food came out fresh and was delicious. Owner was so nice and welcoming.

I ordered Sadie's Pizza (within Shekarchi's) via phone. The pickup time was ~15-20 mins after placing an order. Shekarchi is clean and cozy and had friendly staff who were welcoming upon arrival. The pizzas were ready when we got there! We got the Hawaiian (red sauce with ham and pineapple) and Classic Bianca (white sauce), and liked them both. Generous toppings, good flavors, and tasty crust. Can't wait to try other pizzas next time!

The koobideh was delicious and the place is very nice inside but I guess the day we went for our team lunch they were short staffed because the appetizers came after the entrees and we had to keep asking for garlic sauce.

    Great customer service.

Adine our service man was amazing with customer service and served the meal with a smile. The food is great. Calm ambiance and family style food made fresh and delicious. The restaurant is nice and clean.

I called and ordered a pizza to pick up (we were starving and ate most of the pizza before I remembered to take the picture, oops!). Sadie's is inside Shekarchi which confused me at first but the gentleman I spoke to was very nice and helpful. The pizza was absolutely delicious and the service was great. I'd definitely come back and dine in.

Ask the Community - Shekarchi Bar & Grill

    How's the parking situation?

There is street meter parking and most customers park at the corner of 9th & Olive - there are 3 parking lots. I’m not sure what the rate is & unfortunately we don’t validate. Thanks

Can I make a reservation for a party of 15-20 for lunch for a bridal shower?

Yes of course. We open Mon- Friday and are closed Saturday & Sunday. What day did you have in mind?

Did they move? What's the actual address?

They did move! Much nicer location! 920 S. OLIVE STREET

Is their meat still halal in their new location despite them selling alcohol now?

Halal Meat is Halal Meat. Some people don't like to consume alcohol and they consider it not halal. In my opinion halal meat is more important than if they serve alcohol.

    Do they serve alcohol now?

They do now that they're in their new digs.

    Is their meat halal?

They had signs posted saying they serve halal food.

    Do they serve alcohol?

Yes, in the new location they do.

Turmeric Braised Chicken - The dish was a bit on the basic end, not a lot of seasoning but you could taste the tumeric. Chicken was tender but slightly on the drier side which was a bit surprising considering it was dark meat (6.5/10) Kofteh Tabrizi - The tomato taste was prominent in the broth but the meatball itself was overly salty. The flavor was one note, I can't see myself ordering this again as I've heard this dish should have more complex flavors so I was disappointed (5.5/10) Kotlet Plate - As you can see from my picture, the kotlet was burnt beyond repair and I could taste the bitterness from the overused oil they used to fry it. I did like the yogurt spread and the pickles that came with it but I did not like the kotlet at all. We didn't bother asking them to replace it (4/10) Mirza Ghasemi w/ Barbari bread - The star of this whole experience was the Mirza Ghasemi, the roasted eggplant and tomato spread came cold and it was the most delicious thing we had. One of my friends vacuumed it right up before the rest of us could have seconds. Bread was a bit dry but it was a great vehicle for the Mirza (8.5/10) Lamb Gheimeh - Lamb was tender and it had some nice spices infused in there but it didn't wow me in any way (7/10) Sholezard - Our waitress brought over some complimentary Ceylon tea with the Sholezard which was kind. This rice dessert was not too sweet. The warmth and saffron ended our meal in a comforting way. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again (7/10) +1 star for the service

I finally had the chance to stop in for a solo early dinner, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the Lule Kabob Combo ($22), which included skewers of minced beef and chicken, rice, veggies, pita, hummus, and a side salad. The highlights of the meal were definitely the salad and the grilled tomato; the pomegranate seeds in the rice were also a nice touch. However, the meats weren't to my taste--the chicken had an odd aftertaste, and while the beef was better, neither really worked for me. Adding the provided sumac and lemon helped, but I wouldn't order the kebabs again. Additionally, the hummus lacked creaminess, and the pita tasted like it was mass-produced rather than fresh. On the positive side, the portion sizes are very generous for the price point, and I left feeling full. I also have to mention that the patio is adorable and very "Instagrammable," so it's a great spot if you're looking for a photo-friendly environment. A quick note for future visitors: they are currently having issues with their card reader and are requesting cash or Zelle. It felt a little unusual to be rung up on a register only to pay via Zelle, but it wasn't a major deal. While I appreciated the atmosphere and value, the food itself just wasn't for me, so I likely won't be returning.

That's why I was excited to bring my girlfriend and her friend here today. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. Our waiter, Amir, barely checked on our table. His greeting and every interaction with us felt monotone, rushed, and completely lacking any warmth. There wasn't a single smile or welcoming gesture throughout the meal. At one point, I walked to the restroom and, on my way back, saw the same waiter enthusiastically speaking Farsi and providing attentive, friendly service to several other tables. The contrast between how those tables were treated and how we were treated was impossible to ignore. Based on my experiences here, it certainly felt like customers who are Persian or speak Farsi receive a much warmer level of service than those who don't. The food is still good, but service is a big part of the dining experience. I left disappointed, especially after recommending this place to others. Unless you speak Farsi or are Persian expect mediocre to poor service. This shoutout is for you Amir! Hopefully management reads this review.
