Ordered take out on the way to Day of the Dog event on Main Street Smoked salmon on a bagel with side salad was delicious! The dressing on the salad was tasty and sweet. Everything was delicious! Husband ordered the burrito Kurito. Loved the spicy kick to it! Service was excellent and pickup was quick! Would definitely return!

We came across this cute spot that was exactly what we were looking for. The staff was very friendly, the service was great. We got our food at a pretty decent timing, made fresh to order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing we wished they had was a restroom, but other than that the food was delicious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It felt so fulfilling and we felt good afterwards, the food isn't heavy at all and you can tell the owners were mindful with their menu. Overall we were very pleased being that it was our first time trying out this place. We ordered an egg white sandwich, which came with avocado and a side arugula salad. We also ordered a Burrito Kurito, the bacon and sauce it came with was so delicious, it had a little bit of a kick to it. We were also so lucky enough to receive complimentary dark chocolate almonds. (How did she know it was my fave?!)

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved this gem of a casual sidewalk cafe with reasonable prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked the planter boxes so much that I am going to replicate this look chez moi![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Opted for the poached eggs ($17) that came with two eggs, cheese on bread, tomato, avocado, red onion, pesto sauce, and salad topping. The owner adds a personal touch and provided great service. I dig their brewed coffee too, you can tell it is quality!

Nice neighborhood cafe spot in Santa Monica and a short walk from the beach. Great meeting place for coffee or food with indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Open Sandwich, which is fresh mozzerella, tomato, avocado and pesto on a baguette. Overall the sandwich was delicious and fresh. If only they had a cafe like this in DTLA.

Small café with a nice variety on the menu. The food was good and the service was great. The margherita pizza (7/10) was more like a regular cheese pizza; it didn't have the fresh mozzarella, just regular cheese on top. With that said, it was still a tasty pizza. The crust was SUPER thin, like a tortilla, but still managed to be nice and crispy. I highly recommend the fresh lemonade. 9/10 I used my Yelp check-in to get the lemonade instead of the beer/wine which they were offering, and they were happy to accommodate.

We got off an early morning flight to LA and needed to find a spot to do work for a few hours. Kafe K is the perfect place to chill or knock out a few emails. They have a great coffee and drink selection so I was able to get all my beverages in. I had the omelette with bacon, feta and tomato and it was just the perfect breakfast. Props to the nice outdoor seating and even nicer staff.

Wow, I'm so glad I discovered Kafe K! There are tons of gluten free options, but beware gf bread is in a shared toaster so if you're celiac like me, it's not recommended. The owner was so nice & accommodating and said he could still do something with bread for me but not toast it; it just wouldn't taste as good because it wouldn't be warm. I decided to go with an omelette, and I asked if he could sub the bread for fruit and he said no problem! I looked to the right and saw GLUTEN FREE MADELEINES. I've been gluten free for 11 years now and have never seen or had one...I almost teared up! It was very yummy and the omelette was yummy too. I sat on the patio which is so cute and I loved people watching on a nice sunny day. Great experience and I'll definitely be coming back!

The food at Kafe K is so yummy! I couldn't decide what I wanted for brunch so I ordered both the Margherita pizza and the poached eggs with a mimosa :) My husband ordered Capricciosa pizza and the Blackberry Power smoothie and enjoyed them both as well. The couple that runs this place is very sweet as well. Thanks for the complimentary Kombuchas!! The next time we are in Santa Monica for brunch, we'll come by!

I'm new to the Main Street and Ocean Ave area. Already been to some popular spots on main but this place is better then most I can definitely say that. The smoke salmon salad is so yummy omg I hate salads I usually order something more like a sandwich or burrito but ya know tryna be healthy and all that jazz and yes the green banana smoothie omg it tastes sooooo good!!! I always use to past this place because it looked average but it's certainly not I'm glad I got lazy on going to urth last week and just said fuck it I'm going in here. What an amazing discovery in SM.. Fresh, delicious breakfast and great coffee is a great combination. We had the poached egg plate, a healthy twist on eggs Benedict. The lady that owns this place has done a phenomenal job in decorating the place and greets all with a smile and great customer service. Sometimes it's that precious dead space between the Promenade and Abbott Kinney that yields the most precious of culinary gems. I had an interview. I could not decide what bus could take me home right away. The overcast weather cleared up nicely and the famous Santa Monica breeze rolled it. I played hipster and took a long walk, enjoying a genuine California day. My stomach, on the other hand, called shenanigans and demanded lunch post haste. Kafe K looked interesting; cozy with a Euro hip feel. What can I say, I'm a sucker for dark wood and bright plastic chairs. I ordered an Open Sandwich and a small tea. Prices were reasonable. Service was fantastic. I sat outside and my server, whom I assume was the owner, came out with a place mat, cutlery and my beverage in under 5 minutes. Whoa. The food was amazing! Imported meat stacked stupid high, burrata cheese on warm, toasted baguette topped with thin sliced avocado and drizzled with olive oil and pesto. Mmmmmmmm. The salad was small, but amazingly fresh and slightly doused with the most amazing balsamic I've ever had. I know a lot of people go to certain spots in SM to be seen or to people watch, [* ahem Urth* ahem ahem] but if you want some excellent grub without pretentiousness, you should give this place a whirl. read more

Cute little hole in the wall, right by the beach. In a very shady spot and pretty small. Our waiter was vey friendly. The inside is very nice and clean. All the good sounds great and they have acai bowls !!! We had smoothies though. I had the blackberry power smoothies. Very tasty and good size. My friend had the breakfast smoothie, it tasted like oatmeal, pretty good. And the mango smoothie was great also! read more

This is our office's favorite lunch spot for a truly fresh, healthy and incredibly tasty meal. Aleksandra is the most amazing owner/host and is the reason we keep coming back. We love the Mediterranean Salad for the European market fresh taste of every ingredient, but can't go wrong with the Chicken Panini either. If you're wanting a laid back / European style spot, Kafe K is THE place to go! Probably will see some of Dimension Software's team there as well :) read more

This review is solely on the açaí bowl. I am an açaí connoisseur. Always looking for some bomb acai. Because it sure is hard to come by out here on the west side. First, not worth the $10 and change. I Togo and it was very small. Especially because most of it was granola. I feel like I got granola with a side of açaí. What the heck. The açaí itself was not bad. I've had a lot better. Holy crap. I'm a few bites in and instantly needed to start my review. Location: close to the beach and Santa Monica pier. sadly you can't see the water, but this is WORTH IT. I got the gluten free quiche which today had turkey and red pepper and love in it. So delightful! Get the mixed green salad, there's a scrumptious balsamic dressing on it and aged cheese. Also purchased the green smoothie. Heaven! This place is fabulous and has an adorable vibe and lovely owner. Yum yum yum! read more

Yellow, black, silver, geometric designs, and windows jumped out at me when I entered. Down-tempo contemporary electronic music layered with latino vocals played, mixed with underground samba and trip hop. Two focused men worked behind the bar. I noticed the cafe was small, like many of the cafes on Main St. in Santa Monica. However, this cafe gives you the ability to tinker with your seating arrangements, Ikea style. Kafe K was a hybrid of a sit-down breakfast-lunch cafe, and a coffee joint, which was the perfect power combo that I was seeking on a Wednesday 10 a.m. morning in Santa Monica with nothing to do, but get a late start on breakfast and get caffeinated. Getting here was random, as I'd originally driven down Main St. in search of 212 Pier, a cafe that claimed to be open 24 hours on its website. However, when I drove over there this morning, it was closed. There was also a very bare-footed man standing in front of it, looking confused. We shared in confusion before I drove to another cafe on Main St. Near this 24/hr closed cafe was a Coffee Bean, which was small, cramped, and blaring with commercial music so loud and barbaric, that I couldn't even distinguish what genre it was. I also wandered into a vegan cafe, where I walked in, was greeted by a lady, and then cruelly ignored. But, once at Kafe K, the universe aligned. Once at Kafe K, I ordered a poached eggs meal, and a large mocha, all for about $15, then found a nook of a booth in the corner of the cafe, where traffic passed the windows to my left. My food and drink were presented very well, as well as tasting excellent. read more

I frickin' love Kafe K! I began frequenting this place during my yoga teacher training at YogaWorks nearby, and it quickly became one of my favorite lunch spots. The food is simple, healthy & fresh. Non-descript, but great breakfast spot. The salmon & beef carpaccio are both great - but the salmon carpaccio, which is served on top of a large arugula salad, is a delicious, super healthy breakfast. The smoothies & acai bowls are good, & surprisingly filling, too. The "go to" order here is salmon carpaccio with an over easy egg & a coffee. read more

This place is beyond great. Friendly, yummy, and most importantly - has excellent espresso!!! Food selection is quite eclectic and definitely pulls to the healthy side, however, don't think this takes away from the yummy factor. Poached eggs on toast with refreshing salad that has freshly shaved parmesan over it is an absolute delight for any taste buds! Staff is uber-friendly and attentive. Had great coffee here before, so I stopped in early Sunday for a cappuccino. Two men were behind the counter. Noticed one preparing meat sandwiches without wearing gloves, while the other had wet hands while wiping down who took my order and never dried nor washed his hands. I didn't feel safe, so I left. Great atmosphere even tho is on the street but on Sundays they close it down, today they have even live music! The Acai bowl is really good all fresh ingredients and the almond cappuccino hot and steamy, great coffee too! Service is attentive and kind, ma fav kinda place. Menu is very healthy oriented, you find healthy versions of most breakfast classics too. read more

Well, the owner (at least I think it was the owner) basically begged us to eat here on a Saturday morning where it was packed all over Main Street. I was wicked hungover and needed a coffee before I made up my mind about a brunch spot. He shoved the menu in our face and I mentioned to him that I wasn't sure if we could eat at Kafe K because of my sister's dietary restrictions and the limited menu. He assured us that he would make ANYTHING the way we wanted it and proceeded to provide us an alternative gluten-free an allergy specific menu. I was a little taken aback by the pushiness and figured the food wouldn't be very good. We ordered coffee and took a stroll down the street to check out other options. After being rudely turned away for having a dog down the street, I was getting cranky and surrendered to Kafe K. Glad I did! Simple and healthy food, with quality ingredients. I had a poached egg on provolone and fresh bread with pesto and avocado. My sister had a salad that ended up NOT being allergy free but it was pretty close and she still ate it (the owner/manager was gone by the time we got back). Good gluten-free chocolate balls and wonderfully strong coffee. Can sit outside on tables near the sidewalk with your dog, thank goodness. This is LA people, if you have an outside patio you should allow dogs. read more

After a refreshing morning of yoga on the beach (http://www.yelp.com/biz/beach-yoga-with-brad-santa-monica#hrid:sciGrO5BpZ0hB_0FIagVqg/src:self), I was happily surprised to find Kafe K just several blocks away. My lovely friend Janet B. had breakfast there last week and loved the place, so naturally her enthusiasm had spread to me. Kafe K is an unassuming little cafe noticeable only due to its orange umbrellas outside. There are a number of tables inside, but since it was a gorgeously sunny day in Santa Monica, it was outside table FTW. What's cool is they have a screen with changing images of the dishes they serve. I wanted to stand there and check them all out before ordering but the rumble in my stomach said no. He's mean :( I wanted something especially healthy so I ordered the VEGGIE PANINI with grilled zuchinni, eggplant, roasted red peppers, capers, and a ricotta spread. It came with a side of a simple greens salad with balsamic and pieces of thick parmasan cheese- a nice touch. The ingredients were fresh and the combination was simple, which I appreciate. I had when a sandwich is so stacked that it falls apart riiiight before it enters your mouth. If it doesn't fall all over the place, it belongs in my face. Problem though: this was supposed to be a panini--a grilled sandwich by definition--but this baby wasn't grilled. I hate false advertisement. The BANANA KIWI SMOOTHIE I ordered went down smooth. It tasted like it was made with real fruit. Mmmm cool smoothie is so good on such a relaxing day. I also noticed the pastry case was near empty- only two pastries were hanging out. It's brunch time man, the pastries need to be recharged! The service was great. The beautiful woman who I think owns the cafe rang us up and was very kind and friendly. I would come here again because I love the calm atmosphere of the area and the ingredients are so fresh. I hope next time the pastry case is brimming with carbolicious joy and the panini evolve into, well, REAL panini. P.S.- Panini is plural for grilled sandwich in Italian. Panino is singular. The hazelnut latte here trumps the one at Urth Cafe. I don't know what kind of coffee beans Kafe K uses, but the latte is perfectly creamy. I had the goat cheese quiche with my latte and it was delicious! Nice cheesy flavor and perfectly warmed up. The staff actually bring the food to you. My latte was brought to my table around 5 minutes after ordering, my quiche another 5 minutes after that. Seating is much cuter than Urth. WIFI! Outlets! And the windows/lighting provide for a more work-conducive atmosphere. I always thought that Urth's lighting was too moody for much studying, though great for a date or a catch up session. They take LevelUp! Other highlights: lots of food options, pour over coffee...though I can't comment on these. read more

So nice we visited twice. While experiencing Santa Monica and California we found Kafe K just walking. The girlfriend is picky and this place was clean and had beautiful options for coffee and breakfast/bunch. I enjoyed a Panini with Ham and Swiss, she had the Organic Poached Eggs (both times). Cannot thank these folks enough for being sweet. They took the order, we sat on the sidewalk and they brought out the food, cleaned up, and took pride in their business. The atmosphere and weather are lovely and its worth the price point. read more

Absolutely not worth the money. I don't know about the coffee and other items, but the sandwiches are horribly bland and insanely expensive for what you get. I ordered the Italian Salami, and the only flavor I could taste was the butter they used on the bread. Not to mention there was only enough salami to have meat on about 1/4 of the sandwich. If you want a cup of coffee? Maybe... If you want lunch? Definitely look somewhere else... I will NOT be going back. read more

Great little cafe with street seating and great service. I have ordered lunch from them a couple times and the food is really fresh and tasty, and prepared on time for pick up. Alexandra and Nino have a friendly crew working behind the counter. I really enjoy their Chicken Panini lunch. The sandwich is good and the side salad and dressing are freshly prepared. Always a treat to go there for lunch and I have been recommending the place to others. read more

came for theory breakfast. food was absolutely fantastic. staff was very friendly and ambiance very nice can't give a higher review for the god awful coffee. it's supposed to be from Rwanda or some region in Africa but it's just terrible. hopefully she changes the coffee for something a bit more tasty or at least an option. I'll give this place another try in a few weeks and see if the silver back coffee is gone read more

simplest a fantastic place to have brunch breakfast or lunch. the owner lady is wonderful and will from time to time bring something from the menu for you to try. the service is prompt and the local views are awesome of main st. I bring my dog with me to the dog park and have a bowl for him to drink of. the egg white with pesto is my fav. wishes it had some turkey though. but its still good. read more

came in for some coffee and food. food was really great atmosphere was awesome service was good. only negative was the coffee. was not good at all. was bitter and tasted horrible . wanted to have alternate to urth but was disappointed. will try again soon and see if coffee had improved. came back to try and was disappointed by the coffee. read more

came in for breakfast after hearing how great this place was. tried the egg sandwich with poached egg on top and was very tasty. I would like to see some ham on it but it was great. the coffee was great especially the owner coming by and having us try out her acai shake that was very tasty. would highly recommend. read more

Great unpretentious place in the middle of Santa Monica, if you can believe it. Poached eggs sounds like a boring choice for breakfast, but Kafe K may have taken the title for the best poached eggs that I have ever had. Truly wonderful sandwiches and salads without the drama. Very chill cafe that's worth your time. read more

Bustling, neighborhood cafe with warm Eastern European vibes. Friendly staff, great food and lively conviviality! I had the broccoli soup that was topped with leeks and peanuts and it was unlike anything I've ever had before. It was smooth and refined with such great flavors and served with bread--perfect day. read more

Absolutely wonderful find! I happened to come across this gem of a coffee shop while exploring the area. Now my go to for coffee and breakfast (highly recommend the egg white sandwich!). Seating outside for good people watching and always excellent counter service. You won't find better in the area! read more

Their menu is so lovely! My dad knows the owner and his wife, their are really nice people to everyone and their employees are nice as well. For someone who's Serbian their menu is amazing with big source of healthy stuff that you don't have to feel guilty that you ate outside! :) read more

The food is wonderful the dining is casual and the owners are attentive and friendly with everyone! The staff is always willing and helpful, just ask and if they can they will accommodate you! Prices are very reasonable, it's my go to breakfast/brunch/ lunch go to! read more

Good salad but they messed up my sandwhich, didn't do anything to fix it and I was stuck with a gross inedible lump of gummy meat that I did not actually order. The only redeming aspect was that the salad was correct and tasted good. read more

It is not quite as attractive as Urth nearby, but it has a nice cosy atmosphere, a bit of outdoor seating, basic coffee is good, and their poached eggs are famous. And they show Premier League football on the screen inside! read more

Great food and prices. Service can be a bit spotty because it's not clear whether you have to get up to get refills, napkins, etc. or wait to be waited on. A treasure on Main Street in Santa Monica. read more
