    Bright colorful decor!

Parakeet is one of my favorite local coffee spots! They have top tier coffee and their food menu is clean, filling and comforting, all at the same time. Breakfast Burrito and Truffle Scramble Toast are a couple of my favorites! The staff is always working so hard, and always remembers my name and order, always a welcoming vibe! Very vegetarian and gluten free friendly too!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a cute Brentwood spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parakeet Cafe nails the healthy-but-delicious balance. Yummy açaí bowls, great coffee, and a really calming atmosphere. Staff is always so helpful and kind too! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect for a casual meal or coffee catch-up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Adorable location with quick service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A really cute spot to have a drink, alone or with a friend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee was absolutely the highlight, flavorful and exactly what we needed! We ordered a squash soup as well, it just wasn't necessarily my favorite. The flavor profile was a little strange, as well as consistency. I would definitely go back for the coffee and ambiance alone (just not the biggest fan of the food).

    Strawberry iced matcha

This place is solid! Came here for with a run club (shoutout carb loaders!) and ordered the strawberry matcha (on special, not regularly on the standard menu) which was very refreshing post 5k. My order of power rancheros came out next, which had 3 over easy eggs and a lot of red sauce. 44 grams of protein alone, but I added the roasted chicken for even more. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were a 30+ person group so they laid out a special spot outside in the back, which was covered but was very pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drink and food came out pretty quick too, so that helped since I was ravenous and thirsty following my run! Would definitely come back because their menu is very diverse!

Not as good as it used to be, unfortunately. The blue corn waffle and egg is one of my favorites, but the waffle wasn't as crispy this time. The surfer burrito was gone, replaced with a basic veggie burrito that was just meh. Very sad to see them take this off the menu. The chilaquiles were ok, definitely not healthy, and the order could use an extra egg. Latte prices are up to 10 dollars with alternative milks, which is exorbitant. This used to be a place I was excited to share with others, but now, I'm reluctant to go back.

I personally don't normally love kale so perhaps this was my own fault, but I was very underwhelmed and the kale was quite overpowering. If you're looking for ggiata this isn't it. The avocado toast and the soup were great though according to my friends! We visited right after our barre class and it's such a cute spot! I look forward to coming back and trying something else on the menu! Cute location! First found this spot in SD so I was excited to learn they have an LA location. Decor and vibes were similar to the OG SD location with the staple decor and drinks. I ordered the season pumpkin spice latte with cold foam which was as expected, just a little too sweet for me but still overall, a good drink if that's what you like! Loved the indoor and outdoor seating with WiFi. My friend and I ordered drinks (listed and a matcha drink not pictured) and stuck around to do work. Be aware parking may be tough on street and there's parking lots in the back but I believe they are only vallet. I didn't drive around to explore that area much but I did walk around before returning to my car.

All I AVO Wanted (gf, veg) with Salsa Macha
    Kerry N.

This place is so good, I always get the All I Avo Wanted which is a corn waffle with avocado, feta, egg, and salsa macha on the side and it all goes together SO well. I was so full at the end and it feels healthy and good quality. My boyfriend got the chicken Caesar wrap and really liked it, he even added some of my leftover salsa macha and said it worked so well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's always seats available and the staff are kind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love how close it is to Brentwood Country Mart too for a nice stroll afterwards.

The Protein Waffle (gf) and Eggs & Salmon

We got the Protein Waffle (gf) and the Eggs & Salmon. They were both soo tasty and satiating! We had great service and all our needs were met. Love this location and the welcoming staff. Definitely come back multiple times if you can, there are so many delicious items on the menu that you'll want to try them all!

    Chicken Caesar Wrap

Although i am a foodie, i tend to avoid driving out to LA because the traffic is trash. But i would drive here again to bring my husband. After visiting a friend in Westwood, i figured Brentwood would be the best area to fit my dietary needs and bomb found this spot on Yelp. My friend and I stopped here for brunch, parking was super easy. They have a UG structure to park and they validate! We decided to get the Cesar wrap and the smash burger and split between us. I got the pink lemonade and she got the Arnold Palmer. They were both perfect and not sweet at all! The wrap was so refreshing and not soggy at all (that was my main concern) i liked that they opted for kale instead of the normal lettuce. The smashed burger was heaven. The bread was fluffy and the patty was great, i will say it was a little sweet for me, but i believe that's from the caramelized onions in it. It was kinda oily, but that's what you expect from a hamburger so def don't eat it if you're trying to cut lol The service was great, they were quick to bring the food and made great recommendations. Before we left we got a drink to go; i got the cold foam matcha and my friend the protein smoothie they had. Both were really good and not sweet (I'm not a huge sweet fan lol ) i also got a pear tart! It was really good, i found i like the crust more than the filling but im like that with most tarts. Overall would come again, def the perfect picture spot or place to get a good tiktok video for! They decorations were nice and it wasn't loud at all. 10/10 !

Love that they have a location in LA. I used to live in San Diego and always loved going there I am so glad they moved up this way. We got the waffles and chilaquiles and both were so yummy. Their coffee drinks are great too!

I really enjoyed the teobokki, pancakes, and the stone pot. The teobokki had a good amount of meat, the sauce was great, rice cakes were chewy, and just overall what'd you expect. The pancakes didn't look to appetizing but ending up tasting great, and the stone pot was flavorful and tasty! The pork cheese katsu was alright, not bad but I've had better katsu. Big portion but you couldn't really taste the cheese. Curry was alright too. I was not a fan of the dumplings or the suyuk. The dumplings I just didn't love, and the suyuk meat was dry and the sides to accompany weren't too tasty, they didn't accompany the meat well. I do want to dry the galbijim next time!

Huh? The manager comes over and says "that's not our policy ". What restaurant refuses to toss a dressing on a salad?! I've dined all over the world and never have encountered this at any restaurant . Never have I ever encountered a restaurant that has hard policies making the customer feel bad for asking for simple pleasures like a tossed salad! The manager and I are going back-and-forth to ask him to please toss the dressing on the salad. My 92-year-old dad was sitting there feeling uncomfortable and resentful of the restaurant. I said to that young male manager, after my dad ordered three chocolate chip cookies ( so cute) why don't you put those cookies on the house, after this horrible conversation about the salad. He said "why would I do that ". Please retrain your managers in hospitality. My previously loved Newporter salad is a disaster now. A limp salad, no dressing, with about 3/4 of a cup of frizee. A shell of its former self And the restaurant a shell its former self. There's so many amazing restaurants in Santa Monica. R& D has gone down the drain. Down below you see a $24 salad. It looks like an appetizer. Dressing on the side. With the wilty dry kale besides it on a separate plate. I strongly suggest trying the divine Wally's in Santa Monica. Or Gjelina in Venice. Don't waste a dime at R&D Kitchen and probably not at the other Hillstone restaurants either. Their staff needs to take a strong lesson from Danny Meyer who owns Sweet Greens & Shake Shack. He's the king of hospitality.

This location was the perfect halfway point for all of us. We arrived bright and early around 9:30 AM on a Wednesday. I had called ahead to reserve a booth, my absolute favorite kind of seating. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately seated. Our server (I unfortunately forgot his name!) was fantastic. He brought out fresh coffee right away, took our breakfast orders, and was extremely kind, polite, and attentive throughout our entire meal. The menu has plenty of options, ranging from scratch-made omelettes and burritos to salads and a dedicated kids' menu. The Breakfast Plate Specials ($12-$14) Both my cousin and aunts ordered this. It came loaded with pancakes, hashbrowns, sausage, and toast--an absolute steal for the price~ Turkey Club Sandwich & Fries: I was in the mood for lunch, so I opted for the club. The fries were hot and perfectly crispy. The sandwich itself was wonderful, packed with turkey, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. My only tiny critique is that I wish it came with mayo (I'm a huge mayo fan!). However, I ordered a side of ranch which paired perfectly and really elevated the sandwich. The vibe here is incredibly laid-back, welcoming, and brightly lit. Everything--including the restrooms--was sparkling clean. They had TVs playing a local soccer game and a nice bar area where it looks like they serve up a great selection of beer and wine for happy hour. I didn't grab an alcoholic drink this time, but I already have my eye on a cranberry mimosa for my next visit! Before you leave, make sure to check out the front counter--they have a massive display of freshly baked cookies, pies, and other goodies~ For the price, the food is absolutely worth it and the service is top-notch. Thank you so much, Dinah's Comfort Kitchen--we will definitely be back when we're in the area again!

It's located in the old Clock Tower building, and the Art Deco decor is absolutely stunning--dark enough to hide a bad day but vibrant enough for a girls' night. The Vibe: It's loud, lively, and perfectly "bohemian chic". If you're coming on a weekend, prepare for a crowd, but it's the good kind of crowded where everyone looks like they just came from a gallery opening. The Food: I'm still thinking about the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--it was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and came with a fennel-apple slaw that actually felt fresh. We also shared the Bacon Wrapped Dates (obviously) and the Hand Cut Kennebec Fries, which arrive in a bowl so huge it could basically be its own zip code. The Drinks: Their Happy Hour is arguably the best in the city. I had the Japanese Dream with matcha, and it was expertly crafted--not too sweet, which is my biggest pet peeve. The "Misfit" Moment: The service can be a tiny bit slow when it's "rammed," and there's a 4% kitchen fee that feels a bit unnecessary, but they make up for it with those complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the end.
