We stopped in for breakfast after being dropped off nearby from the hotel shuttle. We were seated quickly in a lovely, cozy, exposed brick with stone archways, area. I started with a hot latte. It was delicious. Creamy milk and nice coffee flavor. For breakfast, I chose the traditional French toast which came with fruit and a huge dollop of whipped cream and maple syrup on the side. I scooted the whipped cream to the side but enjoyed the cinnamon flavored egg bread with fresh fruit. We asked our server about interesting places to visit while we walked around San Juan. She was fabulous. Really went over and above to give us walking ideas, get our food to us, and make our visit feel so welcoming. We loved this place.
We had limited options but we're glad to find them open on Easter Sunday! Service was quick and friendly. The Mallorca sandwich was made perfectly to my liking. Portions were large. Staff was knowledgeable and quick to share a bit about the island as well. The aesthetic was very cute. My only down side was the water was cucumber mint which didn't do it for me. Definitely with a stop in!
The Kaffe Haus is fantastic! From the modern, hip vibe to the delicious coffee to the excellent service - I have nothing but praise for our experience. The Kaffe House atmosphere is one where you can linger and not be rushed. Gerardo was our waiter and he was informative, friendly, and made great recommendations. I love the decor, the food, and atmosphere- definitely a highlight of our time in Old San Juan.
There are so many places to eat in Viejo San Juan but Kaffe Haus is an absolute cannot be missed, must visit breakfast spot. Have you ever thought to put oregano in your waffle? Probably not but I'm so glad I tried the waffle and pork belly dish because it was genuinely one of the most unique and delicious things I've ever tried. The waffle and pork belly were topped with guava maple syrup and the sweet balanced the savory perfectly. The drinks were unreal too. My coconut latte was so delicious and they made it half sweet for me. I loved that the whip cream on top was likely cool whip so it didn't hurt my stomach. So delicious, such a good vibe, and the service was amazing too!!
We did brunch at Kaffe Haus for my mom's birthday and she had a great time! The food was good and the food portions are pretty big so you'll definitely be getting your money's worth. All the staff members we interacted with were nice and friendly. I would definitely come back to eat next time I'm in PR!
Came here for breakfast--it was super busy, probably because it's one of the few sit-down spots with a full menu in the area. The space is bright with plenty of seating, and we were seated right away, but service was very slow. It took a while to get water, coffee, and our food (over 30 minutes), with no updates or apologies. The coffee and food were both good but a bit overpriced. They were also out of hot sauce and some condiments. Overall, a decent but pricey spot, even without alcohol (known for mimosas)
Stellar service and coffee with a delicious breakfast to start a full day of walking around Old San Juan. The vibes were great at Kaffe Haus, which also had a good sound level. We enjoyed the Chocolate Tempation, Vanilla Temptation, Veggies Eggs Benedict, and French Toast Montecristo -- and would order everything again. We'll be back!
I would say this place is decent overall. The empanadas were definitely the highlight--crispy on the outside with a flavorful, well-seasoned filling. The queso frito was just okay; it arrived a bit cold in the center and lacked flavor. The chicken sandwich was good, though not particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the lobster roll was disappointing--it tasted like imitation meat and was quite soggy. As for the coffee, I ordered the lavender latte, but even after adding three sugar packets and extra flavor syrup, it remained overly bitter. The best was the location, the decor and the service.
Based off of our experience eating here, the service was disappointing. Our server did not introduce himself and seemed to be in an annoyed mood throughout the visit. He was not very attentive and never checked on us after we received our food or asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything. As for the food, it was overall okay, but there were some issues. The fried potatoes were a bit too salty, and the bacon was undercooked. Overall, the experience could have been much better with more attentive service and better food preparation.
We waited for 30 minutes for a table for two. Which didn't bother us honestly because they took my number down and said they would text when they were ready for us so we just walked around and explored until they texted us. Our waitress was super friendly. She recommended the spinach and cream cheese empanadillas and they were amazing even my husband who is not a spinach fan loved them. The food did take a long time to come out but it was pretty busy. I had the Mallorca chicken sandwich. The bread has been a fave of mine since I was little. The chicken was massive and it tasted good. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich which he enjoyed. The portions are big. I had the vanilla temptation latte. I thought this place was great and will visit the next time I am in Puerto Rico
We were seeking out a cool place to take a break from the heat and enjoy a coffee. This place had an extensive menu for both food and drinks. Pictured are the Marshmallow Bliss iced coffee and the Coconut Passion iced coffee. Each were delicious. If we were hungry at the time I could definitely find us ordering food from their menu. Everything sounded so good.

I had a nice brunch here. We made a reservation and waited around 10 minutes before being seated. We were a big party of 10 people. Service was okay. We didn't get water cups until we got our meal. They also brought glasses of drinks out when we ordered a pitcher originally. But I was happy they accommodated me when I asked for my food to go since I had to catch a flight. Everyone else's food didn't come out long after. I loved my grilled chicken although a little salty. It was very juicy. Veggies and plantains tasted fresh.

been here twice, once in 2023 and once a week ago and it's still so good. the atmosphere is so cute and yet spacious for a cafe. the coffee is good all around, and the breakfast and lunch options are both equally good. chicken in waffles is 10/10. servers are always nice and attentive. highly recommend when in PR read more
If you're in PR -- do yourself a favor and GO! French Toast Monte Cristo -- 11/10. this could not be more perfect, egg/ham/turkey pairs so well with the sweet french toast and maple syrup drizzle. Satisfies savory and sweet !' Waffle Platter -- 11/10, the perfect all-around breakfast!! (chose sausage and you can choose waffle/pancake/french toast) Lattes were GORGEOUS but they tasted even better -- my friend got iced, i got hot. Can't go wrong. Bury me in the monte cristo pleaseeeee Our waiter was awesome and made great recommendations -- very attentive! I recommend making reservations for brunch because it was very busy. Very hip vibes here. Michael Jackson was playing when we first got seated. Had a mixed playlist with Bruno Marz and other artists with similar sounds. We got lucky and landed some seats without waiting. When a cruise ship docks, San Juan is poppin with travelers and restaurants can get busy. I think we got in when the rush was ending. Smash burger with fries. Burger was good, no complaints but I didn't finish the fries because I thought they were undercooked. Short rib stew Bao was a yummy appetizer. My friend said that blueberry ham sandwich (forgot what it was called) he ordered was too much bread for the meal. Also he wanted hot sauce but they forgot about him and it never came. The chicken and waffles was good! My partner killed it! Chicken was juicy! Waffle crunch was just right! 3 entrees 1 appetizer 1 single glass mimosa 1 pitcher mimosa +tip = $152.80 read more
I really wanted to like Kaffe Haus the location is convenient in old San Juan and the decorations are esthetically pleasing - however so many other things just didn't line up. When we sat down we immediately noticed our table was extremely wonky wobbling all over the place. We had a hard time ordering food. We placed our drink order and then the waiter never came back for our food order, we had to call him over to place our order. When our food came we had to again flag our sever to get utensils. Then again once he took away our plates we had to eventually ask for the bill as he never brought it. :( The food itself was also not worth the price. For two non alcoholic drinks and two breakfasts we paid over $50. The eggs, chicken and potatoes tasted like straight oil, no seasoning either, we took a few bites and then passed on the rest. I will say the food looked beautiful - but the mark was missed on so many levels. I'd consider trying again as there are so many positive reviews and this may have been an off day - however at that price point I would t want to risk not liking my food a second time. read more
We popped in here to avoid a surprise rainstorm while walking around San Juan and so glad we found this place! Bright open space with lots of tables for sitting. The kitchen was closed when we arrived, so we sat at the bar and had a drink while waiting for the storm to pass. The bartender was friendly, and in no time, we had drinks! They were actually getting ready to close for the day when we arrived but we did not realize it. They let us take.oit time without rushing us. Relaxed vibe, busy restaurant. Our last morning in Puerto Rico, we chose here for breakfast. A great choice! About a 5 minute wait, great host. Staff in general amazing! Our server took the time to introduce the specials of the day to us and our neighboring table. Peppy, sweet and fun. Coffee? He had two cappuccinos. Loved them! I had some boozy drink, lol. Was great. Food his order? The Borricua Omelet. Pernil, plantains, and cheese stuffed and potatoes. Nothing left on his plate. Me? Eggs Benedict with sweet ham. The greens in this Benedict gave it a special kick. Delicious. A Harty meal, great coffee, and ambience. Plus they are open earlier than most places. A super yum end to our long weekend. Soooo good!! My friends and I were trying to find a cool brunch place for our last day in PR and found this place, I'm so glad we went! All of my friends enjoyed the ambiance, food, and drinks. Service was a little slow but super accommodating so it made up for it plus I think we were just hungry so the food made up for it. Please, get the chicken mallorca that was the best thing collectively at the table I wish I ordered it! read more

(7/1/25) I was on a cruise with a friend and PR was one of our stops. My friend randomly came across this restaurant for us to try. It was so good. I got the Boricua omelette and HAUS chocolate temptation iced coffee. The omelette was so flavorful it was a mix between savory and sweet. So good! The iced coffee is something I wish I could go back for everyday. Not so sweet and truly delicious! Our server was great she was so sweet! I'll be heading back to PR with my mom this fall and im definitely stopping here again. read more

Unfortunately I had a negative experience here. I had a 10 am reservation which I arrived on time for and was seated right away for. The server was initially attentive. We order a rum punch and coffee. My husbands rum punch took five minutes to come. My vanilla coffee took about 15 minutes to come. After that, my husband and I set for about 45 minutes waiting for the food we ordered. At one point I noticed one of the tables next to us got their food. I asked the server do you know when our food will be out. She said that she would check with the kitchen. She came back to our table and said that the kitchen was working on a large group and then in about 10 minutes, our food would be prepared. We set for 15 more minutes and the table on the other side of us got their food. We decided at that point to pay for our drinks and leave. While the manager was nice and said that it was OK we did not have to pay for our drinks the disappointment that we had to sit for an hour and 10 minutes and wait for no food when we had a reservation was very upsetting. I would not be back. read more
Kaffe Haus might be one of my favorite places in San Juan. It's the perfect place for brunch - the ambience is eclectic and the dining room is spacious. You can even sit at the bar. This restaurant serves impeccable coffee and also offers other delicious drink options. I recommend a mimosa carafe, passion fruit if you will! Service is wonderful. Both the host and our server were friendly - as well as the people running our food. Our server was full of helpful suggestions and made our visit memorable. Here, most staff speak English, so that's helpful to those who may not be fluent in Spanish. But, it's also a good place to practice - it's very laid-back. Definitely make a reservations a few days in advance. This location is busy and it gets busy early and there is a wait. read more

Came on a Saturday morning. Our waitress was very pleasant and welcoming. I loved the ambiance of the place & the live band. Now, the food! It was so good. Large portions that we couldn't even finish, but SO worth a visit to try. :) read more
The food was great - 5 stars. Some of the best we had in San Juan. But the price was too high, hence the 4 star review. The server offered us some specials including a breakfast skillet but didn't say the price. Most items on the menu were $10-20. Then we got our bill and the skillet was $30. Breakfast was over $80 all in with tip. That's crazy. I get it. I should have asked how much. But they shouldn't price a special double the rest of the menu and not say anything. High notes: fresh food, I had scrambled eggs with all vegetables and sausage. Good size interior space with color design and a really nice staff. Low notes: Slow service, I waited 45 minutes for scrambled eggs and sausages which I ordered to-go. There were about six tables ordering with an average of 2 people per table, so I have no idea why it was so slow. I would return, but only if I have time to spare. read more

I remember coming here a few years ago and their boricua omelet was made with corned beef and maduros. This was the reason we came back only to find that it was taken off the menu. We weren't disappointed though because the coffee, food and the vibes were still great. read more

Stumbled upon this heaven on earth looking for a brunch spot that would accommodate 10 people, and so grateful they came through! Food was absolutely amazing with a specials menu I didn't know existed plus a live band to make the experience even more outstanding. Service was great even with a large crowd and don't forget the pitchers of mimosas being only $25! Such an awesome vibe with the cute couches and aesthetics. We were in town for 24-hours after a cruise and this spot showed up as a favorite local brunch spot, so we checked it out! Absolutely happy we did! Hubby and I both had a peanut espresso martini which was phenomenal and for our meals, I had the Montecristo with a fried egg on top and hubby had the pork belly and waffles! They were both super amazing dishes, but that pork belly was absolutely insanely good! Will definitely stop by here again when in town. read more

We were looking for a nice brunch location in Old San Juan and we stumbled up Kaffe House. The food and service were amazing! Huge portions the location is small and intimate on a side street in Old San Juan. They had several drink options. We opted for the pitcher of Mimosas. Made well and they used freshly squeezed OJ. Definitely a spot to go if you're looking for good food and a great ambiance. read more

Great brunch and ambiance in Old San Juan. We were in PR for a week, trying different spots each day, and we didn't experience Kaffe Haus until the final day. Wish we had experienced it earlier because we definitely would've ate there at least three times. Ambiance was top tier. It was a hot day but it was very cool inside and felt were dining outside due to lighting and windows. We had the chicken and waffle and steak and eggs. Chicken and waffle was amazing. Well cooked and seasoned. Waffle was perfect. Steak and eggs were simple but good - wish the steak had more salt/seasoning. But cooked to order. Both meals had home potatoes which were perfect. Will be the first place I return to when back in PR. read more

We have been here before and the food and service were incredible. This time was ok. The server was wonderful warm and helpful. The drinks were really good (chai latte and sunset something). The breakfast was ok. I order the platter with waffle and my husband ordered the chicken and waffles. We both agreed that the waffle was really good but the rest just ok. read more

Lavender latte! Coconut vanilla latte! And the chai latte was well spiced and creamy sweet. Creative menu: we had Greek yogurt with all the trimmings and a delicious French toast. Service was charming and attentive, and the ambiance was lovely. Highly recommend. read more
This place hits on all the right points for me. Located in the heart of Old San Juan, decided to come here around 10 am for a late brunch. This is the time you want to be in Old San Juan as all the shops and business are open and the cruise ships are in port and everyone is out having a great time! My party of two sat right down at the bar when they make all the specialty brunch type drinks. Got the French toast platter and it was awesome. There were a lot of choices on the menu that appealed to me. I will definitely come back the next time I'm in town. Awesome spot!! read more

Good drinks, good service, really really good house made avacado hot sauce! The had the omelette with the pork, can't remember the specific name, but it started with a B. The pork was delicious and that hot sauce was delightful. We had the house, bloody Mary and the peanut butter espresso, and both were also really good. Would recommend for anybody needing brunch or just good food. read more
