I passed by this place one late night in Redondo and thought: This place looks busy and must be getting popular as its the newest things in the riviera. My girlfriend decided to go there for dinner and we were surprised by how busy it was with all the people there. It turned out the drinks were good with the chips and salsa. For me the tacos were good but I was beyond let down by the guacamole we had ordered. No salt, no lemon and it came with a little cojita cheese. If you are willing to pay almost $10 for some chipotle water (to describe it somehow) and 3 sad meatballs (which are not even cooked within the soup, but instead thrown in after the water has boiled), go for it. I don't want to be mean, even if it sounds like that, but what you pay for is NOT what you get. My husband ordered Carne Asada. He got a veeeerry small piece of over cooked Bistec. They also added this weird (wannabe) chimichurri on top, which soaked the carne in oil... Not good. The onion was raw, when it typically is served roasted. The only good thing were the beans, but who would pay $20 and ask for a steak, just for the beans? Not to mention the wait at our table was really long. The only good thing I have to say is that the staff is very kind and friendly, always smiling. Though it looks kind of unprofessional when the hostess is chatting with 3 other staff members instead of checking on your clients (I mean the servers should). My classless server (Jeff) charged me an 18% tip after I joined a party of 6 late (within 10 mins of the party leaving). I had one drink and ordered my food to go. I was there to pick up my gf. I would have happily left an appropriate tip, but the fact I was forced to pay a group tip even though I had my own bill was BS. If I were a manager, I'd put this tool in check. As main meal my mom ordered the Barbacoa that was delicious !!! Served with beans and rice on the side I ordered the aguachiles they were on the tangier side which i didn't mind but just a heads up. :) My dad ordered the fajitas he enjoyed them. Kalaveras had some great flavors, nice staff, and vibes, but if I'm paying over 12 dollars for a margarita, I expect it to be made with fresh ingredients. When I asked to have a margarita without agave, I was told they can't do that because the margaritas are pre made. That's fine, but don't charge a premium price for that. I ordered the queso birria tacos per the recommendation of our server and the el tiempo drink. The tacos were good and my drink was super spicy. The interior of the restaurant is unique with black lights and flowers hanging from the ceiling. The music they played inside was much louder than I typically like and several groups ordered a round of shots which involved the staff coming out with noise makers and sparklers and the whole works. While this is fun for the group who ordered them, it was super obnoxious for everyone else. The restaurant kinda felt like a south beach night club which is definitely fun for some, but not for me.
