Came in for a girl's dinner on Friday. Location is beautiful and parking was not that difficult that night. Now I am preggies and I did not get indulge in the cocktails but the virgin micheladas were really good. My friends enjoyed their drinks . The guacamole was good and so was the mild salsa. The tacos govenador are delicious as well. Our waitress Lucero was on top of it, she was attentive, friendly and took care of us the whole evening. I came here with my friends, and we all ended up getting food poisoning after eating their food. What was supposed to be a fun outing quickly turned into a very stressful and uncomfortable situation for all of us. Not only was this a huge health concern, but I also feel like my money was completely wasted. Dining out should never leave you feeling sick or scared, yet that's exactly what happened here. Because of this experience, I can't ever see myself coming back, nor could I in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone else. Margarita sampler was the best. The first one you think I s the best and then they keep getting better. So many servers and they're all making sure you have what you need. Music was great too. The BAD part is their service charge. They don't say anything and then add 18% on top of your bill. BUT their math is off. It came out to almost 30%. This place is always popping at night in the quiet Riviera Village. People come here for drinks and good music for sure. But when it comes down to food, I gotta say it is ... just.. okay. We came here for my mother's birthday mid week and had reservations and it just so happened to be Taco Tuesday. The place was very popular and busy so make reservations anytime you can. To be honest, the service was not the best. We were a party of 7 and were seated and we probably didn't get anyone coming to offer drinks or take our order for probably 15 min or so. Meanwhile a group of 4 was seated AFTER us and ordered and got food before us. Anything we needed just took too long. My daughter ordered tacos and asked for grilled onions because there was only raw onions with cilantro out at the self serve table. They told her they don't have grilled and we said, well you have raw onions and we can't get them grilled? Didn't think that was an unreasonable request. Her tacos were plain and wanted those to eat with her meal and needless to say they never came out while the rest of us ate our food and finished. We told the waiter to remove the order since she literally waited forever and he said I'm so sorry I'll pay for it (he basically forgot to place the order in the kitchen). Shortly after, what do ya know, they miraculously showed up because we complained about it AND he charged me. Smdh Food was pretty good but I think I'd like to try a different location next time. Maybe we just were unlucky that day but service plays a HUGE role in a customers experience, almost as much as the food itself sometimes. I'd still give it another try. read more

Been coming here for a long time, usually for Margarita Monday or Mezcal Wednesdays, and every time it is fabulous! The margaritas are some of the best we've had north of the border, and their happy hour appetizers are always a hit. We also love their aguachiles here and shrimp enchiladas. The service staff are also always very good here, and we always feel welcomed and never forgotten about even when it's a busy night. After seeing these places pop-up all over the place, we decided to give lunch a try here. The place is decorated beautifully and it's really something to look at. We tried their tacos and their were fairly delicious for what I would call premium tacos. The margaritas were decent but nothing that stood out for $12 bucks each. A friend brought me to this spot in Redondo Beach. First, because she knows I like pretty restaurants, and second, because they have the World Cup playing on several tv's. Haha. They come with shredded chicken, pasilla cream sauce, Monterey jack cheese, Mexican crema, lime onions, and avocado with a side of beans. The chicken was nice and shredded, and the sauce was delicious! I also like that they are generous with the sauce! Would definitely come back just for these. Honor a reservation that was placed on your site and then confirmed via text message. Rather than the hostess telling me no it's not here and after showing her the confirmation saying we don't use that. You don't have a reservation and the wait will be over an hour. After telling her where and how I made she still was rude, not helpful and showed no compassion at all. It was the most unacceptable response. She made me seem like the problem and had no care that I had others with me and it was 730 pm. Horrible customer service. I've eat at your place several times and this was a rude awakening to how some of your staff is. Also note, if you don't use the yelp reservation feature, remove it. It sends confirmations and people make plans around the reservation. This is a management issue and should be fixed immediately read more

I've been to this location once & their Huntington Beach location a few times. Both locations had great service & food!! I also like their specials!! We picked the place based on their advertisement of a mimosa brunch. Warning, they only have bottomless mimosas on Sunday. We did try the mimosa flight which was $25 for 4 large tasters. Unfortunately, one of the flavors was very sweet and the others were only average. So wife and aunt ended up ordering margaritas. Overall the drinks were only okay and cost the review a star. The food... the food was great. Guacamole was huge and delicious. It was served with a pico de gallo on the side but we all agreed it tasted best with the guac. I got the barbacoa omelette it was Outstanding. Wife got birria tacos and said they were great. The service was slow but more unrushed than a problem. El Chupacabras is a hibiscus margarita that's very refreshing even on a brisk December day in So Cal. Bring a designated driver because you're gonna want more than one. Be careful of the black salt tho, it stains. The albondigas soup is a simple broth with veggies and potatoes, but packed with a ton of flavors in the meatballs. Enough to share for 2 ppl. Chicharron tacos are made with pork belly and not the typical crackling pork skins, but still delicious. I chose sweet potato fries for my side and they are some of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. The sweetness pairs perfectly with the fatty pork belly and acidic, tangy green salsa. Staff is friendly, parking was easy because we got there at opening, but I can tell it'd be challenging during busier hours. There's seating inside and outside. Seems like it'd be a fun spot during happy hour and the rest of the menu sounds yummy. Will definitely be checking out other Kalaveras locations in the future! read more

$1 tacos on taco Tuesdays! All tacos qualify except the seafood ones. These tacos are very small(2 bites) but well worth the cost The tacos I got were: asada (steak) barbacoa (braised beef) pollo (chicken) hongos (mushrooms) They were all good but nothing spectacular The chicken and the steak were my favorites The thing that made these tacos great, other than the price, is the toppings bar they have to fill up the taco with as you can see in my pictures. Also, I have to give them points for the complimentary chips and salsa that were great and warm, in a world where everything has a fee now, but chips and salsa at a mexican restaurant should always be complimentary. I will be back as long as these prices and chips n salsa remain the same. Staff was great, and manager came around to the tables to ask how everything is, which I haven't seen in some of the most expensive restaurants, so wonderful! Absolutely Horrible Experience. Left Before Even Getting Our Food. My girlfriend and I came into this restaurant extremely hungry and excited to enjoy a good meal together but unfortunately, the experience was anything but enjoyable. From the moment we sat down, things started going downhill. When our waiter first approached the table to take our order, I noticed immediately that he wasn't paying any attention to what I was saying. While I was speaking, he was distracted--looking off into the distance, smiling and laughing with someone who didn't even appear to be a staff member. It wasn't until several seconds later that he seemed to realize I had been talking. He quickly jotted something down, then darted off to the person he was so clearly focused on before. As we sat waiting for our food, we were served chips and salsa that were completely stale. Not just slightly off--stale to the point where they were unpleasant to eat. Then, to make things worse, the same waiter returned to our table and asked us what we wanted to order again--as if we hadn't already ordered with him just minutes earlier. I stared at him for a few seconds in disbelief before reminding him that we already gave him our order. He just mumbled "okay" and ran off again. At this point, my girlfriend and I were already feeling incredibly uncomfortable. We whispered to each other about how strange the whole interaction was--but we were hungry and decided to wait a bit longer. That was until we saw the same waiter walking around the restaurant blowing a whistle--yes, a literal whistle--like he was officiating a soccer match. At that moment, we realized we were wasting our time and decided to walk out. This wasn't just bad service--it was bizarre, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. There was no sense of attentiveness, respect, or even basic hospitality. We came in hoping for a relaxing meal, and instead left frustrated, hungry, and frankly stunned at how poor the experience was. Needless to say, we will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others to think twice before dining here. Time and money are far too valuable to waste on this kind of chaos. read more

Now that I've visited this location, I can say that I prefer it here. We were a group of eight and made a reservation ahead of time. We were seated immediately and on time. From the beginning to end, our server was wonderful, he took really great care of each and every single one of us and really made us feel welcomed. He was really great at pointing out my brother's birthday and checked in on us frequently. Unfortunately I don't remember our server's name, but he left a lasting impression. I don't drink alcohol but he made sure that I had nonalcoholic options. Our table sampled a variety of dishes and everything was flavorful and at the right temperature. I adore the hanging flowers on the ceiling and for such a pretty restaurant its pretty affordable too! I ordered the Pasta a La Diabla, not too spicy very creamy and flavorful with perfectly cooked shrimp and a delicious cheesy toast. I also got the Chamango margarita, thats a party in a cup honestly, I only could handle one. My friend got a cheese quesadilla that she tore up, it was a girls night but when the food hit the table it was silent, thats how you know we enjoyed our meals. The white refried beans reminded me of the beans I had in Puerto Vallarta. They were so good I bought extra to take home. I had the best server.
