Got introduced to this place by my bf at the time. Anyway this place Is a must visit but unfortunately is open only on Thursday-Sunday but definitely a must try if you're in the area. Just a tip it doesn't always open on time either. Just a little tiny window that generates little bowls of amazingness. There isn't any tables or inside dining available. Staff isn't the friendliest but still worth a try. I Had the pa'i'ai bomb which consists of fresh kalo pa'i'ai, nui flakes, and nui cream, paired with your choice of ice cream. I went with the ube as well as one with haupia. You can choose kulolo, haupia, ube, strawberry, or cookies and cream. They'll run you about $12 per bowl. Plenty of parking available in the lot as well as on the side streets. The pa'i'ai here is sooooo good. It's so smooth and chewy in texture. I plan on frequenting this place again and again to get my fix.

I have been wanting to try this place for so long qnd I finally got to try them today! Their hours are very limited so make sure to plan accordingly if you want to go (keep in mind that they will close earlier if they sell out)! The service was good, extremely friendly! Theres a decent amount of parking so there shouldn't be an issue there. It's grab-n-go but they do have a bench on the side of the storefront where you can sit and enjoy your desserts. I got the keiki bomb with ube ice cream which let me just say, the ube ice cream and pa'i 'ai combo is top tier!! The texture of the pa'i 'ai with the creamy ice cream makes for a perfect sweet treat after a nice day at the beach! I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a yummy dessert spot!

Whenever I come out to the Westside, kalo bombs is on my list. My friend visits from LA and loves to come here. I tried the new kalo mochi bites, so fresh and hot outta da fryer! Really liked those, more mochi than usual poi donuts in the ring. We love it so much be got it as our pre lunch ice cream. We've come to late in the past where they would be sold out for the day by say 1pm.

Me and the best friend went here on a sunny day around 1pm, it was a hot weekend so we wanted to cool down and support more local businesses. Since we live on the west side, we are much closer to Kalo Bombs than everyone else that lives in town hehe. Its located in this brown building where Country side cafe is located and right next to Deluxe nail and spa, you will find a tiny window on the left side of the building and you will see butterfly wings painted on the wall where the shop is located. The line wasn't too bad, we waited only 10minutes but I was observing and I only see one guy working there. I give him props because its very hard to run the whole operation by yourself especially dealing with possible impatient haoles and locals lol. Anyway, you just wait in line, order, then you stand there and wait for your order to made for you on spot. We both ordered the Pa'i'ai bomb and as for the ice cream scoop choice, I got the Kuliouo scoop and my friend got the Haupia scoop. I actually I really liked the coconut cream he used for drizzle! It compliments well with the pa'i'ai! It feels great to support local business especially when their products are locally made here! Will be back here again after a beach day!

Heard about this place but haven't had a chance to visit since I live in town. Came here after spending the day at Makaha Beach. Decided to spoil myself with a tasty cold treat! Kalo Bombs is located right off of Farrington Highway close to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Center. Don't drive to fast or you'll miss it! They have lots of free shared parking spaces right in front of their spot. Ordering is easy! We came here during the weekday and after the late lunch hour so we were lucky not to run into any crowds. The girl behind the ordering counter was the sweetest. We ordered our Kalo bombs, took some yelp worthy photos and enjoyed them outside in the shade. The kalo bomb is the perfect treat.. not to sweet and the perfect texture. I wish they had a town location but the drive out here was worth it!

Hours are already pretty limited, but sometimes they close even earlier/randomly because they're sold out...that being said, if you're able to go and GET something, it's super worth it! All the toppings and ice cream pair so well together. Definitely a must stop if you're ever west!

Kalo bomb is located in Waianae, I got to try this little hole in the wall after hiking the pink pill box. There isn't much on the menu now but still worth trying! My friend and I ordered the Pa'i 'Ai bomb with haupia Dave's ice cream. The Kalo was sooo soft like mochi and the haupia ice cream complemented it so well. It was very delicious and refreshing. I didn't care for the coconut flakes so maybe next time I'll skip it. If you bring your own spoon you can get a dollar off your order!! Since we were the first ones there, service was very quick. There is seating on the side of Kalo bomb to enjoy your sweet treat. The painting of moon phases is very beautiful and the colorful taro leaf. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area!

Perfect sweet treat for a hot day! Not too sweet just right. We tried their best seller and loved the combination of everything. A must try when you're on this side of the island!

If you're on the west side- you have to stop by Kalo Bombs! They specialize in Pa'i 'ai which is made from kalo (taro). Pa'i 'ai is the stage before poi when you're pounding kalo. If you're the type of person who would describe their perfect dessert as "not too sweet" pa'i 'ai is the perfect add-on to balance out the sweetness of ice cream or acai. Kalo Bombs is a grab-n-go, takeout only spot. There's ample parking and a few benches to sit and enjoy your Pa'i 'ai treat alongside the establishment, but I highly recommend taking your kalo bomb to a nearby beach to enjoy. Kalo Bombs sources their ingredients locally. The ice cream is locally made and include flavors like haupia, ube, kūlolo, strawberry, blueberry cheesecakes, and cookies and cream. I tried their Pa'i 'ai bomb with haupia (coconut) ice cream, fresh pa'i 'ai (4oz), niu (coconut) cream and niu flakes. Visually, there was more to be desired- but that's on me for picking a white ice cream paired with the dully colored pa'i ai. Looks aside, it is so delicious! The haupia ice cream is perfectly balanced with the pa'i 'ai making for the best "not too sweet" dessert and the coconut shavings add great texture. It's soft, creamy, not too sweet, and has 3 different textures- the perfect combination. They do have specials that are very colorful and visually appealing. Look out for their whiteboard where they write their weekly specials, or follow them on social media to see what new things they will be offering. I was surprised to see a savory bowl as a special- with laulau, lomi salmon, and pa'i 'ai! I can't wait to try out their acai with pa'i 'ai next. If there's one thing about me, it's that I will always be the biggest advocate for locally sourced everything. Kalo Bombs is an innovator in the Hawaiian foods space and I can't wait to see what they do next!

I've been wanting to try this place for so long but I've been hesitant to make the drive. Luckily, I finally got to try them at the Oahu Foodies Feastival this past Friday. The service was friendly and quick. Their ube bomb was the BOMB! It has Pa'i'ai with ube ice cream and ubae cookie crumbs topped with ube drizzle and niu flakes. It satisfied my sweet tooth, without being too overly sweet. I enjoyed all the different textures from the creamy ice cream to the crunch of the cookies. It was big enough for me to share, but it was hard to! I enjoyed every last bite. I know now that they're definitely worth the drive to the West side. I'm already craving my next kalo bomb. Support local!

Looked for something to cool us down whilst on the west side and wanted to try this unique Hawaiian twist to a basic ice cream place. What makes this place different is the topping of pounded taro- texture is not exactly like poi but similar to chewy mochi. Not much taste by itself but it's meant to be a texture topping. Overall this place was okay. We felt like it was alike overpriced. Small little shack and small parking area. Things could be all customizable to what you like. Good for the experience but not sure if I'd return.

As I'm enjoying my Mackie from The Sugar Hut I see this sign Kalo Bombs! Where have you been all this time?!? What an amazing combination creation that supersede many sweet treats in so many ways...it's just brilliant!! I got the Pa'i'Ai Bomb with Ube Ice Cream and it's life changing!! So fresh and yummy it's your choice of Ice Cream topped with fresh Kalo Pa'iAi and Niu Cream and Flakes (Coconut). Along the side of the building is a long bench with a beautiful mural to capture that shot to show off all that freshness, I was so at my happy place. They do sell out so follow them on Instagram @kalobombs but please support local as this is just something so special!! Thank you!!

This place is amazing! Super good ice cream, really good flavor, and great toppings. The ice cream comes fast served in either large or small. There was no line, we got our ice cream in under 3 minutes. The place in total is very small and has outdoor siting on the side. Overall very good ice cream and pounded taro!
