We decided to try them again on New Year's Eve and when we saw the order was canceled for some reason we called and they would not accommodate a new order over the phone stating they "were too busy". I used to love Kama Bistro, for years, before it moved to the new , larger location. Went for an early dinner there yesterday. I don't live in the area any more, so we made a point to drive 1hr from the city and go for dinner at our favorite Indian restaurant in Chicago area. The waitress was rushing us, came multiple times while we were eating, and pushy till the very end .. felt rushed the entire time and the restaurant was empty as it was 5 pm. We ordered 2 things off the menu that we never ordered before - a potato appetizer and a vindaloo. Both so ridiculously hot (spicy) that my husband and I are still hurting today. It burned all my buds and my stomach lining! And there was no warming from the waitstaff. They tried to dilute the sauce, but it was so spicy that nothing helped! My husband eats a whole jalapeño pepper with no problem, but even he couldn't take it! I am not exaggerating- brough some of the leftovers home and added a ton of yogurt sauce and rice - still inedible! I am not sure who would order this, but if it stays on the menu - some serious warnings were needed. And the staff - this is where they should focus on - the food, not coming 5 times to offer more beer and take plates away while we are eating! read more

Came for Happy Hour on a Thursday. HH specials are limited to half off of appetizers... but there are plenty of apps to choose from and WOW, I was blown away by each and every appetizer that we ordered! The lamb tacos were outstanding... the chicken tikka masala was outstanding... the mussels were outstanding... and the samosas were beyond outstanding! The sweet potato chat was also very good (I'm pretty sure it was my dining companion's favorite appetizer that we ordered). The garlic naan was an excellent accompaniment too. While beverages are not discounted for HH, is it really a HH without an alcoholic beverage?! Needless to say, we ordered some craft cocktails to wash down all of that wonderful food. I took my girlfriend here for dinner tonight and the first thing I have to mention is the ambiance. It has a wonderful, romantic, vibe with low lighting where the lighting really only hits the food in a way that makes it look really special. This alone is a good reason to come here; wonderful date night restaurant. The decor was all modern, clean and it all came together nicely. In a word: sexy. The Service was also great and our server was very sweet and professional. Now for the food. For appetizers and drinks, we ordered the crispy potatoes, chicken harissa, and a mango cocktail that had a clever name that I can't remember. The potatoes were good, the cocktails were great, and the chicken harissa was simply astounding. The chicken was cooked PERFECTLY and had plenty of flavor. Definitely order them. For the main course we tried chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, and lamb chop masala with every entree ordered spicy. You can choose between no spice, medium, spicy. We also got some basmati rice and garlic naan. The chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo were delicious with big portions, I'd eat them again any day. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly and the garlic naan was awesome. Now, the only let down of the night was the lamb chop masala. It was recommended by our waitress and I had high hopes (one of the pricier dishes on the menu) but it turned out to be very over cooked and chewy. it most likely was a non frequent mistake that most likely doesn't happen often, based off everything else I ate. That was the only reason I took a star off. I will be coming back here and I'll maybe try that lamb chop masala again, I'm sure they'll get it right next time and if they do, I'll update it to 5 stars because this was a very close to perfect dinner. Yes please. A recent move from the city had my 10 year old bummed that he couldn't get decent Indian food. This was a delightful surprise and the secret to my son's baseball success this past summer. Unfortunately, I have to update my review after a bad experience. As a South Asian myself I appreciated the quality of the food. I've ordered delivery over the course of the pandemic. The quality has been hit or miss. For example the Saag, was watered down last time I ordered. I also had a bad experience with the delivery driver. I noted on my instruction that I wanted him to leave the food outside my parents' door for contactless delivery. Instead he rang the door bill and made them sign for delivery (and give a tip) which was already added in delivery. I called the restaurant to tell them about this and the lady who answered wasn't very helpful and snotty. The owner was supposed to call me back, but he never did. Sorry --but despite ordering hundreds of dollars of food from this business and supporting them throughout the pandemic, I'll pass. They don't support their customers and only really cater to the white people who won't complain or know if the quality of their dishes are subpar and overpriced. First time there and went for our anniversary. Id been apprehensive cause Im a little particular with indian cuisine, however, got to sample some at Summerfest and enjoyed it. We had appetizer-poppadoms with the duo sauce (which is deffinately more traditional than the fruity trio), main- chicken tikka masala with a side - butter naan (a little greasy so would opt for garlic or a tandoori next time) . All was delicious, slightly different flavor profiles to our usual place but still excellent. The waiter even offered a complimentary ice cream with the fruity chutney sauces. It was superb..and way better than had it been served with the savory appetizer. Only negatives, it was a little too dark and hard to read menus, a gnat/fruit fly that kept buzzing around and the term effervescent from our server was used a tad too much that i wanted an alka seltzer...bubbly would have done just fine. For us both plus 2 glasses of wine $63 so really decently priced and saved a 30 min drive to our reg place. Made reservations for 615 and got seated just b4, we were out by 715. I am always skeptical about trying an Indian restaurant in the US for two reasons 1. Spice and Flavor - Both are inseparable twins and most Indian restaurants don't get both right. If there is flavor, then there will be no spice which get toned down with a lot of cream. If there is spice, then there will be no flavor as the spices don't get mixed well with the dish. There will always be an inconsistency in taste for every mouth 2. Polarised reviews - Few don't prefer spicy food, so the rating scale goes high as always. I got influenced trusting 4 and + star reviews only to get disappointed because of reason 1. Kama Bistro impressed me heavily on the first try but I wanted to give it a few more to evaluate the consistency and I am happy to say they are on par. If you ask for spicy, you get it spicy with no compromises. The quality and taste of the dishes didn't miss once on multiple tries. Must Try 1. Malai Kofta - The best and must try dish. It's hot, full of flavor and fresh. The crispiness on the outside and the stuffing on the inside combines perfectly to give one the best taste 2. Chicken Tikka - Pakka (Perfect). Well cooked and soft meat 3. Samosas - It takes you back to the days of munching Indian street food. It's not oily, the outer shell is not overcooked and the stuffing inside doesn't taste like frozen. It's a rarity to find fresh and spicy samosa on an Indian restaurant in the US, and not to forget the tinge of masala on the tangy sauce along with mint chutney are the best side dishes for their samosas Chai, Naan, Kulcha and Desserts were equally good too. The only minus I saw was not with the food but once with my to-go order. Wish they use better quality packaging materials as mine got completely leaked and they made a little mess on it. We continually had issues with service (incorrect dishes being served, plates coming out at different times so everyone couldn't eat together, overcharges or mix-ups on the bills), but chose to deal with those issues because the food was so delicious. However, we just had another post-Covid visit and will not be returning. The service continues to be frustrating, and the food is now bland and nothing to get excited about. Disappointing lamb saag, dry garlic naan that did not even have the scent of garlic, tasteless veggie dishes, and overpriced drinks are just a few notes. Nothing stood out to us, from several dishes we tried including Paneer lemon tadka(bad presentation, no garnish at all), crispy chilli potatoes (schezwan sauce mixed with ketchup), chicken chili and more! A couple dishes we ordered with coconut based gravy had almost no coconut flavor at all! The paneer appetizer we asked to be cooked just like chili chicken, was far from being called chili paneer!
