Kamilas Breakfast and Lunch has been my to go breakfast place in Clairemont for years! I just about tried everything, but their eggs, potatoes and bacon is a must with anything I get. I finally tried their Grilled Cinnamon Rolls and they were pretty good. Not overly sweet, but a little savory too. This time as all the rest, service is always nice. I typically take out, but have dined in a few times. The restaurant feels cozy and has a family style comfort to it. Ruben was a great server. He took our drink order and gave great suggestions on what to get. The restaurant was clean and have plenty of seating. The waffle was a little crispy with the perfect amount of fluffiness the potatoes were delicious. I really enjoyed the onions and bell peppers they had. They said the burger was delicious. Great spot for brunch as it seems to be sharing a parking lot nearby a ton of medical offices and buildings. Finding a spot was easy since they have specific parking spots for this place. We were seated right away by the hostess and it wasn't busy at all when we came for brunch around 1PM on a Monday. I got the bacon avocado omelette and to me, I wish there was more bacon inside because there wasn't a lot of the small bacon bits in it. I did find the plating to be big however and was able to have some for leftovers. The cup of fruits I got on the side were fresh and delicious. The hotcakes were yummy, warm, and fluffy like standard pancakes. The flavors in general can be improved upon more, but overall this spot does give a homestyle cooking vibe. If you get coffee, they are always ensuring they refill your coffees. They were on top of that!!! Lots of different things to try out on the menu!!! Come here for a very hearty and filling brunch! I like that there's reserved parking spots for customers here in front of the restaurant. The interior is very cozy as there's multiple booths you can sit in. Our guy server was handling all the tables well and we were very impressed with his service. I got the Ground Beef scramble, which is a scrambled mix of egg, ground beef, mushrooms, onions, spinach, peppers, diced potatoes, and Jack cheese. I feel like the plate was large and a great portion size, however I wish there was better seasoning on the entire dish. The ground beef was hidden in the plate and I felt like there was barely enough in the mix compared to all the other ingredients. The ingredients tasted fresh but I feel like mushrooms didn't taste as delicious as I'd like. My boyfriend also got the bacon avocado omelette and he felt like it definitely needed more bacon as he could barely taste it. Finally checked out this place for breakfast. Right off Balboa and Genesee near an Aldi. There's also a few eateries right next to them. I feel like this place is great for locals that live around the area and it feels very homey. Think of it as a Denny's but more of a close family atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very spacious inside. There are specials so we went with the banana/strawberry Nutella pancakes along with your basic breakfast fixings. Was always wanting to try this place out after seeing it driving on Clairmont. It's a great little mom and pop place with all of the home cooking you need. We were running errands and starving. We picked up a few items at Aldi's and saw Kamila's Breakfast & Lunch. As we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by a couple of gentlemen working here. The place was sparkling and smelled very clean. We were quickly seated and given menus. We needed a quick lunch. I opted for the Bacon & Avocado burger minus the bun with a side salad. The other order was not on their menu. They were able to accommodate my friend's craving! They made a BLTA. My friend said it was FANTASTIC!! The next time we come in, we will both be ordering it. My burger was good. The side salad was just plain Jane but a sizable portion for a side salad. Overall, we a a very enjoyable meal. All the employees worked together. One took our order, one refilled our water, another took empty dishes. Parking is marked with Kamilas on it. There's a bathroom key hanging on the door to use at a shared business building use. We've been coming to Kamilas since before they were Kamilas. Have always enjoyed the food and service. Today I wanted to substitute the mushrooms and olives for spinach and jalapeños. I was told I could remove items but any new items would be $1.50 each. The dish already costs $18.95 (the most expensive omelet), so I simply had them remove the problematic items. I'm having trouble understanding this policy as these are items offered in their other omelets and are presumably available at hand, and all are inexpensive vegetable items. It really dampened our dining experience and I m regretfully removing Kamilas from my list of "go-to" places. read more

Sister restaurant of Country Waffle. The same great service, endless coffee refills and quick delivery of your order located in Kearny Mesa. I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict. It was the best I've had in a long time and it arrived hot and fast with the perfect poach on the runny eggs with a generous amount of hollandaise sauce. It looked appetizing too when it arrived. Ate here for breakfast today. Drove down to San Diego for my graduation ceremony nearby. Breakfast was pretty yummy. Portions were fairly large. We ordered a red chilaquiles plate and these were pretty spicy wish they came with onions, Hubby ordered a country fried steak plate, ordered the kids a pancakes combo to share, and an omelette plate with pancakes and potatoes. Our waitress did not check on us and had to get her attention for things which was fine as the restaurant got busier. Didn't really expect much. The food was okay as well. Ordered the French Toast platter [$21.95] which came with two huge pieces of French toast, eggs and your choice of bacon/sausage. Eggs were not over medium as ordered so that was disappointing but as expected. No one really gets that right. Ordered the hot chocolate [$3.99] for a sweet treat, was okay. Kamilas is a hidden gem that you don't know you need in your life....but you do! First off, it is tucked into the first floor of an office building set back from the road and partially hidden by Aldi. You will almost never find yourself stumbling into Kamilas, but if you've found it then you'll be happy you did. We went during the holiday season and the staff did not disappoint with festive decor all over to make us feel Merry & Bright. Here are some things you will want to keep in mind. First, there is a sign up front that they won't seat your group unless everyone is there, so no letting grandma out while you park the car. Second, they're only open until 2, so don't be rolling up in there at 1:45 expecting to get a table. Now onto the food....i got the Fit Breakfast to make up for the 800 Christmas cookies I had eaten over the prior 24 hours. It was really good! Egg whites scrambled with mushrooms, tomatoes, & spinach. Top It off with turkey bacon, some fruit & an English muffin and I was all set. They had a menu board on the sidewalk calling out a "Straw banana Nutella French Toast or Waffle". That would be my option for next time when I'm not loaded up with sweets. The staff was nice and welcoming and the prices were fair. We had a group of 8, so automatic gratuity of 18% was added to our check, so be prepared for this so you don't double tip. No charging near by except across the way by the Vons (4 shell free slow chargers) and lots of tesla. Not crazy busy for a Saturday morning, seated right away. Slow service on getting drinks and orders. This is where I knocked off the star. Food was fast, table service not as attentive despite all the waiters, waitresses, and food runners. We split the chilaquiles with the red sauce, (sorry no pictures) please be aware it's got the heat and the spice!! Which is fine, no indication that it is spicy....probably just a common sense thing.... which sometimes I don't always have. Soo it's spicy! We added the shredded chicken which was tender and delicious. Served with rice and beans, bland but good. Quiet modern restaurant, bathrooms are key and clean. Coffee improved, ask for vanilla creamer if you have a sweet tooth. Juices are good. Size portions are shareable. Denny's was suggested for breakfast and that is a non-starter for me so I Yelped other nearby breakfast places and found Kamila's. Now I have a daughter named Camilla so that's a plus right away. Then I saw in the Yelp description that it is vet owned and minority owned so we ended up going to Kamila's, and had great service and a wonderful meal. And they even had an animal shelter donation bin in the lobby. Kamila's is located in Clairemont near where Aldi's is at (formerly Rite Aid). I had the French Toast with eggs, bacon, and hash browns. There were no close handicapped parking spots and I felt bad seeing all the senior citizens who came to eat - 2 were using a walker, another a cane; and the handicapped parking was in the back! Parking overall was not convenient. Nearly every other business had designated spaces, and the rest of general parking was in the back. They offer comfort food and plenty of it with some extras like fresh fruit salad ( delish and bananas) and sausage biscuits and gravy. I'd get it again! Potatoes look odd but man they were flavorful so don't let it detour you. The Fit Breakfast was cooked in so much oil it was hard to eat. it came with turkey bacon that was supposed to be in the scramble but was laid on top of the meal.
