Worst massage of my life. I'm only writing this review because the masseuse actually hurt me…read more I originally came in for a foot massage, but ended up doing a 30 minute bodywork session and a 30 minute foot massage, which I completely regret. I was still undressing as she barged in and made me get undressed in front of her. She started off incredibly rough, and I asked multiple times for a softer massage. She was dry massaging me through the towel for what felt like at least 15 minutes before I finally asked if she had oil, because after a while it just became uncomfortable. For the remainder of the bodywork, it felt like she only knew four strokes. She kept aggressively rubbing directly along my spine, which is literally bone, and I now have bruises and woke up extremely sore. She would pick up my limbs to massage them and then drop them instead of gently placing them back down. She also had no sense of personal space. At several points, she was leaning her entire upper body and stomach over my head, pushing my face further into the table. She also kept pulling my hair. And at one point when I was faced up, she crushed her fingers into my temples, and that is not an exaggeration. It felt like she was actually trying to hurt me. It was a very strange and uncomfortable experience. By this point, I had asked at least five times for her to soften the pressure. And for context, I can usually handle a strong massage, but this was just brutal and lacked any rhythm or technique. The foot massage was no better. My shins are bruised because she aggressively massaged directly on the bones over and over again. She used hot stones on my bones, kneecaps, ankles, and the tops of my feet. I told her it hurt, and she responded, "hot?" I said, "No, you're literally rubbing stones on my bones." She also spent an odd amount of time unevenly massaging my feet. She worked on my right foot for a while, briefly moved to the left for maybe a minute, then went right back to the right foot for the remainder of the session. This was genuinely one of the worst massage experiences I've ever had, and I would never recommend this place to anyone. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, a man checked me out while both he and the masseuse hovered over me, making the situation extremely uncomfortable. I didn't want to leave a tip because of how bad the massage was, but I felt pressured to do so with both of them standing directly over me.

decent massage--decent price--decent service…read more i wouldn't really call wood house a spa. if you walk in expecting that, you're going to be duly disappointed. it's moreso a small space with two massage chairs in a corner with a hospital style curtain keeping both areas separated. there's a couch for waiting inside by the cashier booth and you are only to be let in if you have an appointment and let out after you've paid. the whole place just looks and feels a little "we renovated this from an office and don't put much work into it," sketchy kind of vibe. i believe just two people man this place, a man and a woman, both chinese. there's a bit of a language barrier with the man. kim, who i believe is both a receptionist and a masseuse is friendly and is flexible with scheduling. as for the massage--she definitely puts the pressure in, which hurt at times but left me feeling pretty airy after. i rarely ever leave a massage feeling dazed, but this one really allowed me to relax. she hits every spot, but funny enough--doesn't turn you around to do the front muscles. massage centers usually turn you over halfway to do your head/face, hands, etc, but she didn't. feel like they're a tad bit stingy with the time, i booked for an hour but she was late by just under 10 minutes and didn't seem to make it up by much. also was surprised that they were gloves and about the first 5-10 minutes of the massage is done over a flat sheet. they also didn't prepare the towel warmer until halfway through my service, so at the beginning she was using cold, wet towels on me which was rather uncomfortable. overall, she does a great job getting through the nooks and crannies--i'm not sure if this is a good enough job to warrant me returning in response to all the other off standard practice here, but for a more affordable price and flexible scheduling it's not too bad at all.

When we came in and said that was what we wanted they escorted us to the back to a table for a massage. I said to the women again, I wanted the foot massage. So at this point we felt trapped and like we couldn't leave as they forced us to the back area of this establishment. We laid down for our massage, and enjoyed the actual massage. It seemed like Paul actually understood the body, and it did feel good. At the end of the massage they asked us if we wanted our feet done in addition to the hour we just got. We said yes.... thinking it would be an additional $10/15 in addition to the $30. We met the lady and man who did our massages at the front after and she said $120 for both. Well that was quite different than what we came in and asked for $30/hr x 2 = $60. I tried to explain to the 4 people standing in the front that we came in and asked for the foot massage and they gave us NO choice but to do what they wanted. All I wanted was an acknowledgement. They all pretended that they had no idea what my husband and I were saying. And we both felt completely taken advantage of. Shame on you. I am the type of customer that repeats and tells others. I've had two ACL surgeries and I trust him with my body but obviously I've directed him with placement and pressure. I speak Mandarin but like other patrons has said, just point to where it hurts and say "harder, lighter, just right". He's almost as good as my physical therapist but a 1/3 of the cost! Since he is the owner and usually the only one manning the store, he will answer phone calls and greet people at the door during your massage. But I have no problem with it bc he adds the time back. Definitely come and give him a try!
