Honestly I had low expectations but the food was really good! The fish was pretty good quality, loved the Korean wings, cucumber salad, and garlic butter edamame too. The rice in each dish was stale and dry, the fries came out over cooked and cold. Mayo on a few of the rolls taste like it was left out, while orders take long periods of time to arrive. Seating was ok with nice decor, but could've been better had they not sat us so close to the employees who were in on their day off conversing with staff repeatedly while we waited for our order. Not sure if the individual was a manager or who he was, tried to give us a consultation item and it was probably the worst item of all the things we ordered. Reading previous reviews has definitely gave us a heads up on our experience for parking and wait for food. However, with some research ahead of time and our experience as a whole this place is still getting 5/5 stars from this sushi loving and Korean BBQ lover yelper!! Mainly for the quality of food and the price for the AYCE Sushi/KBBQ Meats & Appetizers/Noodles and Udon bowls! Especially for Hawaii and our crazy cost of living. This restaurant is located at the old Todai's location across from the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the (closed) Wailana's Coffee House. There is NO* designated parking for this restaurant nor do they validate. Within the same block you'll have 3 parking garages. I know 1 parking garage charges you $6/hour. I'm not sure of the other two. However, if you go around the block behind the restaurant you'll find a very small Public Parking Lot and we only paid $6 for 4 hours which is the cheapest I've seen compared to the signages we saw and other yelp reviews. I very short 2 minute walk from the restaurant. Important tips: Grab a reservation if you can! For $38 AYCE Sushi and Korean BBQ ($18 for keiki) this place gets busy VERY fast. Also try to get in EARLY. Once they get busy. The food does take a while to come out. However at the beginning when they were not busy. All of our orders were coming out within 10-20 minutes depending on the item. The night we came was on a Sunday night with reservations for 530pm for a party of 9. We were seated on time and our server was very nice. Upon ordering, we probably ordered a our 4-5 rounds of food. They do say for AYCE, you're time limit is 90 minutes but when the food started coming out later when they got busier they didn't rush us out. Once they got busier around 630-7pm our food did start to come 30+ minutes with MANY reminders and checks. We also were getting offered food we didn't order because they were getting their food orders mixed up or it was extra. For the AYCE, every person must do that option. They do have all items they offered individually priced if you do not want to do AYCE but your party must be all doing the same type of dining in. I know, I know. You all must be thinking, with what I said about why would I still give 5 stars? The quality of the food was so onolicious! If you're a sushi lover, the cost of 2-3 sushi rolls alone already covers the cost of your head price. We've tried at least 7 different rolls, 5+ Nigeria, 4+ appetizers, 3 bowls of udon, 7+ KBBQ meats. Of course some are better than others but the KBBQ meats were flavorful. The raw fish melted in your mouth, the rolls were tasty, and the nigiri sizes were very healthy and full! If we really had to be picky, some of the nigiri's the sushi rice wasn't always consistent as some grains were a little hard (but the fish itself was good quality) and the baked muscles were a little over cooked on some (we had a ttlotalbof 5 orders). They also offer a lot of alcoholic choices as well. Reminder the AYCE price is only for food not for the drinks (besides water). The ambiance was very dark, cool, and hip. Restaurant was very clean and tables were spaced out well in our area. This is our first time trying Kan Sushi, and we had a good experience trying a few of the varieties on the lunch menu. Justin was great , very enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the food items and made some suggestions. Customer service was great, and Selina, the manager, checked on us, too. We were party of 4 and was nice to be able to try a bunch of things! We definitely will come back again ! Let me start off by saying I'm judging this on an "all you can eat" sushi place. So, the standard is automatically set lower for me compared to a traditional sushi place. Also, the lighting caused my camera to have long exposure and my impatient self did not allow the camera to take the greatest photos. With that said, it was the best all you can eat I've had so far. Again, that bar is fairly low but it was pretty typical sushi in my opinion. If you're looking for a lot of sushi for the money, you can't go wrong with this place. Everyone was very nice but you need patience to eat here. I showed up at around 5PM and the place was close to empty but I had to wait from the time I walked into the door until I got my check. After that everything came out at once and they also gave us a plate of something in which TBH I was upset about because they have scallops and I'm deadly allergic to it - so I was scared that it contained scallops. Ordered so many items but a few didn't make my opu happy. I ordered the spicy ahi sushi.....it's not ur typical poke, it's ahi tartar style with just sriracha. No Mayo. It was Hot AF! Most of the fried items was.......hard and I feel like seafood and chicken shared the same batter and oil it got fried in. Ahi sashimi was a no go for me. They only had 1 server for lunch and it was already full the hour they opened. I feel bad for the server but he had assistants to help him with drink orders. Management? We went for a late lunch (around 100pm) on a Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't too crowded but it was a couple of minutes before anyone acknowledged we were waiting. Once we were greeted we were seated right away. It's a spacious space, clean, with dark decor. We were offered both dinner and lunch ayce menus (some items are only with dinner prices). The nigiri, in my humble opinion, were the better choices. Fish was decent, rice was small, and the assortment was good. The rolls were a bit lacking in texture (shrimp tempura wasn't crisp at all (I know it's in a roll, but still). The hand rolls were ok. The crispy rice was SUPER crispy and not greasy which was nice. Don't go here unless you're willing to sit hangry for over 30 minutes after being seated. I guess they recently opened, but the servers are obviously very new. They walk around and help people in their view, so if you're seated not in their path, you won't get helped. I came in at 12:30, for their AYCE lunch ($25.95) . They were relatively empty, plenty of open tables. I was seated right away and asked about the parking situation because I thought they would validate and two hours of parking without validation is $16. So I asked the hostess and she had no idea what I was talking about. You'd think she'd be the first person to be told about the parking validation process. I never got that parking validation.... Aka I never paid for parking and my car was still there when I left. So maybe they don't check? I waited a good 15 minutes before I was acknowledged by a server. She took my drink order and I told her I was ready to order food too. I sat for another 15 minutes while she helped two other parties seated after me. I sat seething in the corner for more than 30 minutes before my order was taken. Like Gen, they have servers who take orders. But there are different employees who run the food from the kitchen. When you try to order from them, they'll turn you down because they aren't the servers. We ordered quite a few of the sushi options, but none of the meats because we confused. The meat pictures look like raw meats, but there is nowhere to cook them at the tables. So they cook them in the back? No one bothered to explain to us what the situation was. The nigiri was pretty good. The lunch price is also pretty good. I'll come back and give them another shot because sushi is my favorite and it's a good price for AYCE. However, I will be requesting to sit not in the corner and hopefully the service is better. read more

Newest favorite place to eat with my family. Quality of meats and fish are good and flavors are on point. For the price, you really can't go wrong. The wait staff are all wonderful as this was our second time here in a week and a half. Food delivery could be more efficient, but I'm sure that will improve since they've only been open for a couple of weeks. The cuts of fish and meat are fresh and the ratio of fish to rice is perfect... not too much rice and it's perfectly seasoned. They don't skimp on the seafood at all. My favorites are the Avocado Ball, spicy shrimp roll, and baked scallop roll. My boys loved the truffle salmon and many of the fancy rolls-they are way more adventurous than me. Save your money and buy sushi at 7-11. We paid like $37.95/person for all you can eat so you could get your money's worth with the volume of food you order, but the quality just sucks. There are good reasons why the average Yelp review for this place is less than 3 stars, and our experience just repeats what other Yelpers have been saying. SERVICE - At some point, the staff stopped bussing our table, so we were piling our empty dishes in the middle of our tiny table. We were hardly checked on during our dining, so we only got in two rounds of orders. Our water was never refilled even though we asked kindly. Also, be prepared to wait a while for the dishes you order! The longest we waited for a dish was 30 minutes. Shortest time was 15 minutes. FOOD - 3 orders per person per round, so we were able to try a variety of items. In summary, the food here is MID. We only enjoyed the salmon nigiri. All of the rolls we ate had too much sauce and cheese and the rice had a horrible texture. The fish tasted like they were sitting out for a while (more about that later). Most of their rolls seem to be California rolls with different spicy fish toppings. Not very creative or good. Miso soup was incredibly salty. The udon had no flavor. (It's as if the cooks have no idea what they are serving?) Temperature of most of our food was cold (except for the miso soup and udon). We waited for 30 minutes for our small order of kalbi, and when it arrived, it was cold. The food isn't worth getting full on. The most upsetting part was watching orders sit on the counter by the kitchen (as seen in picture). The orders were piling up and a few sushi dishes were sitting out for more than 30 minutes. It's disgusting to see! That explains why the food is so cold when it arrives. Whatever system the servers are working to get orders out to people... it does NOT work and it's horrible. Full menu + AYCE prices since no one ever posts good menu pictures. Most menu items are for lunch, only a few are dinner only. First off, wow really good food. One thing though, the spicy ahi/tuna here is not local style. It's more of a ahi/tuna with chili flakes/pepper and SPICY vs sriracha Mayo local/Japanese style MILD. We tried to avoid ordering things that had it because we didn't care for the taste of it. Our server George was great! He was friendly and busy. But people need to understand that a new restaurant is gonna be busy. Front and back of the house are still trying to figure things out. Also, good fresh food takes time and I know this because I work in the F&B industry. So with all those factors put into place we loved it and would come back. You just have to be patient and a little aggressive when ordering and getting someone's attention. It's super spacious in here and fit our stroller no problem.
