Unfortunately one of the worst places I have ever eaten. The ramen tasted and looked like instant ramen. The sushi took forever, another table even walked out after waiting over an hour for their sushi. But they honestly didn't miss much. I got a spicy tuna roll with no spicy tuna in it, only tobiko and Siracha sauce is what it taste like. I had a great time on my first visit to Kangnam. Granted it was with an awesome group of yelpers (shout out to Tanya, Charles, and Arianna!). As the only sushi karaoke bar in El Paso I feel compelled to give it 4 stars. The potential for an amazing time makes Kangman great. That being said, I would rate the actual food and karaoke at a 3. The sushi was solid but not particularly memorable to me. I found the sushi to be a little chewy and none of the rolls I saw really stood out aesthetically. I did like their southwest style roll (but I am a sucker for jalapenos on anything). I wouldnt necessarily make the trek to the East side for just their food. Likewise, their karaoke selection is pretty limited (although free private rooms are a pretty awesome). The karaoke machine in the private room is pretty easy to operate and has decent sound projection. More impressively is the way the rooms is largely sound proof with the door closed so you can really belt your heart out without disturbing the other patrons. Although...I suppose my wild gyrations to "I'm on a Boat" and "D*ck in a box" might have been equally, or moreso, disturbing (particularly in absence of music context). However, the service we received was solid with our waitress singing on request (no arm twisting there) which helped get our group in the mood (I'm kidding, I'm always in the mood for karaoke. Seriously its a sickness!). In short, Kangnam Style is a place that although its parts may not be stellar, still manage to culminate in a unique El Paso experience that should not be missed. I absolutely love this place. They have the best authentic Korean ramen in El Paso.. the service is amazing here and we had a great time hanging out. You can rent out rooms for karaoke. Definitely try the cheese Korean ramen and ask to make extra spicy it was incredible. The only thing I dislike is that they're only open Thursday-Saturday.. other than that I will definitely be back. :) read more

We were attracted to this place from the other Yelp reviews and we aren't disappointed and don't disagree with the generally positive opinions of other reviewers. First and foremost, the service and person ability of the staff was great. We went on a Tuesday and with few customers the staff were free and willing to engage us and did a great job in ensuring a pleasant meal. The recommendations were spot on. I was convinced to try Jinro, and was given a unique mixer suggested by the bartender which was a very interesting flavor. The food was down really well and I had no complaints whatsoever about eh sushi- the El Paso roll IS spicy! I would love to see the place on a busy night. The restaurant has a nice ambience and design. A night of drinking Jinro with friends would be a good night there! read more

I wouldn't really come here just for the food but if you find yourself famished after singing your heart out- I'm sure the food options they have available will taste amazing! We arrived here mid-afternoon and got some sushi, fried rice and ramen. The sushi was okay, I think the sushi chef used to work at Koze but I think the sushi at Koze is way better. The fried rice was fine- it's way better if you ask for their house made hot sauce. My favorite part was the $6 ramen- it's seriously a 20¢ bag of noodles! I was a little put off at first but on second thought- if it was 1am and wasted, I would definitely order this and thank them for having it on the menu for such a steal. read more

The food here is amazing. I am always hesitant when I try sushi in El Paso with it being landlocked, but this was the best sushi I've had since I moved here. The beef ramen is incredible. I also had the squid salad, and it was delicious and not fishy at all! The service is great and you can reserve a room for a small party. In the room, you will find your own personal karaoke set up that can't be heard in the dining room. I saw a review where it was recommended that they take out the large table and put in couches and maybe a coffee table, and that's a good idea. The song selection didn't have the songs that I usually sing, but we made it work. I also would have liked a selection of wine that included a dry one, but the Saki was very good. This is a pleasant change from the El Paso style sushi. If your looking for good sushi, plus spicy, we found it first, or at least our waitress did, then recommended it to us and it was good and spicy. The rolls cost a bit more than the joint down the street but they are lager and definitely more flavorful. We will return to try more on the menu. The El Paso roll is a must for spice lovers, the rainbow was excellent, and the muscle roll is a new favorite. read more

Phenomenal place! The service is outstanding. It's not dirty at all. The customer service is on point. The atmosphere is super comfortable and judgment-free. They have individual rooms for karaoke. I took my family of 4 to this place and we had a ball. We got a room for karaoke and no one interrupted us, poked their head in the window, and to top it all off, the room is soundproof so if you sing bad like me, you're good. I would recommend this spot to anyone. It's like being back in South Korea and Camp Humphreys all over again. Almost forgot, they have a ridiculous amount of karaoke songs to choose from. We were pretty disappointed considering this place seems to be well rated. Our party of four mostly ordered sushi and every roll turned out to be smaller than expected and lacking in flavor. Despite being there on a Saturday evening, there was hardly a crowd and no one doing karaoke (maybe things pick up later at night?) The TV behind the bar had some pretty violent Asian flicks which were odd for the setting. Restaurant decor was very boring and although service was friendly, she wasn't very attentive. Stopped here for lunch when I was in the area. Staff is super friendly as mentioned in another review. I ended up trying the El Paso roll because I love spicy and crunchy sushi. If you like jalapeños, you'll love this roll! I love that they have private karaoke rooms for customers. There's no additional fee to use the rooms, you just have to order food/drinks. Big plus! I was told that they offer a large selection of songs in languages from English, to Spanish, to Russian. The karaoke rooms accommodate parties from 4-8 I believe. Another big plus ICE CREAM MOCHI!! For starters I cannot comment on the quality of the sushi because my wife and I ordered Korean Pork Ramen and Bulgogi respectively. The miso soup had no tofu. The sake was watered down with ice and flavors, too expensive. The ramen looked and tasted like it came from those 20 cent packets you can get at Wal-Mart, but was wildly over priced. The Bulgogi portions were diminutive and over priced as well. There's actually nothing positive I can post about this restaurant. We will not be returning. read more

Amazing Korean food in El Paso! Their cheese ramyun is perfect, just like in Korea. They also serve soju- the waitress was so sweet and amazing she gave us samples of the soju w raspberry and it was delicious for soju drinkers. They also have an extensive sushi menu. We tried the Virginia (which was a big hit except we picked off the onions off the top, they added an unsavory flavor). We also had the Philadelphia which did not have much flavor. I can't wait to go back- the menu includes bulgogi (great dish for your friends who haven't eaten Korean food and want to try it out) and Korean short ribs. The place was clean and nicely decorated. It's been a while since the last time i gave five stars. Okay here's why. First of, the place was very clean and i love the ambiance (for a sushi place). The owner was very friendly and helpful oh and she's funny too. She constantly talking to the customers which is a plus for me. The food was great. I ordered Spicy Miso ramen and Eel Roll and both are delicious. Oh and their price is a little bit cheaper compared to the other sushi place here in EP. Also, they have a karaoke which is i believed it's the only sushi place here with karaoke (it reminds me of CA). They have a private room as well, so that would be nice for party or get together. I've heard good things and thought I'd give it a try. Food was delicious, but the portions were small, at best. For $20/person (one of those being a 2 year old) we should have left stuffed, but honestly everyone but the baby was still hungry. We ordered the edamame, calamari, Kalbi, Philadelphia roll, fried California roll, Alaska, dragon, and a fried roll I can't remember the name of. Edamame, Philly, and Cali rolls were standard for area expectations. The calamari was disappointing. For $10 we got four pieces of calamari and a variety of tempura vegetables. And there was really no flavor to the dish itself, not even a redeeming dipping sauce. The quality of fish, presentation, and the flavor of the specialty rolls were on point. But the size wasn't what I was expecting for a $13 roll. The Kalbi was different than what I am accustomed to, but still delicious. There were three ribs, a scoop of rice, and some odd fruit salad that I didn't try. The accompanying rice portion was small. The toddler ate half the entree on his own, if that gives you a concept for size. I was a little confused by the lack of kimchi to go along with the meal. I've been to quite a few Korean restaurants. With a name like kangnam style, I guess I was expecting more of a Korean feel and menu. Service was sub par, even for el Paso. Only one person at the table ever got offered a refill, and the server wasn't around enough for us to ask them as needed. They completely failed to bring the soup and salad that come with the entree. They never offered to bring another beer when the first was empty, or at least a water in its place. I would have been willing to accept a $100 tab for 5 adults. Our party included two adults, an 11 year old, an 8 year old, and a two year old. All but the two year old left still hungry. The sushi was delicious. But there's only so much I'm willing to pay for atmosphere. We'll keep going to Kee's. Total dive, but totally amazing service, quality, flavor, and portion size, and I can feed the whole family AND have leftovers for around $70. read more

The dining area is clean and the decor is simple but nice, staff is attentive and we were greeted immediately upon entering. The staff seemed somewhat knowledgeable on the items that they serve, I believe they should be able to explain how a dish is prepared to a certain extent. We started with the fried gyoza, it wasn't overly crispy but it did give a nice balance of texture. The plating was simple yet elegant. The fresh veggie mix on the side compliments the dish well and gives you something refreshing between bites. I ordered the Miso Ramen it's a large serving, enough for two people to share. To share with the table we ordered a Crazy Roll, Panko Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll and an order of fried rice. The food was delivered to the table as it was prepared. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold. The ramen was thicker than I am use to but the broth had a lot of body and flavor. Enjoyed my experience here. Had 3 different rolls. All tasty and delicious. Place was clean and environment was pleasant.

Nothing to special, I had the shrimp tempura roll that had too much rice on it and was $11. The saki kettle was good but over priced as well and not very strong. Also tried the mochi ice cream which if you've ever had mochi ice cream know you have to eat it as soon as it's taken out of the freezer or the mochi starts to become too soft and the texture is off putting. They tried too hard by cutting the mochi into quarters and garnishing in whip cream cherry's and chocolate sauce rather then placing on a plate and bringing straight out. They also seemed short handed and the service was mediocre. I didn't think this place has been open long and dont think it will be open much longer, I dont think I will be coming back. read more
