We both ordered the ribeye and both were dry & chewy, even tho they both appeared to be cooked medium. We unfortunately didn't get the opportunity to eat here. We stopped in at 10pm to enjoy the live music and drink. Loved that we were able to walk back to our hotel at the end. The long island I has was $14 without tip. You could go to the bar but we had a waitress. She was very attentive and fast. They do not offer pitchers of water but she made sure our glasses were never empty. I appreciate that since we were up and dancing to the music. The establishment is two floors with table and booth seating. Very well laid out to enjoy entertainment. A few blind spots from sitting in the booth with the pillars but you should be up and dancing anyway. Bathroom was clean and well marked. There were ramps to get down to the dance floor so I appreciated that especially in heels. Highly recommend to stop in and check out. read more

This was our second and third time dining at this restaurant. The restaurant is short staffed which was evident with the service and how long it took to take our orders, not only food but drinks. We went on Christmas Day and the day after. Food was alright. My biscuit with the chicken was extremely dry. Calamari was not crispy but rather soggy. Drinks were good but again, took a while to get them. We stayed at the Four Winds Hotel for two nights and made reservations here because the food is relatively good for the price. We will come back but hope some of the issues work themselves out. read more

Had dinner at Kankakee before see a concert at Silver Creek Event Center. Had a short wait. We were greeted by our server pretty quickly. Two of us ordered beers. It was several minutes to get them. Ordered appetizers, pretzel bites w/beer cheese and fried green beans. The beans could use some seasoning. My husband ordered the black and bleu burger w/fries. I had the meatloaf. Husband liked his burger but it wasn't the best he's had. The meatloaf came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Mashed potatoes were barely warm, green beans were bland. The only flavor was in the balsamic drizzle over them. The meatloaf was dense. It had good flavor but could have benefited with some veggies mixed it. I couldn't finish it because it was just too heavy. The server wasn't having the best night either. My daughter ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken. Server didn't put on the chicken. She didn't know that today was Friday and forgot to give the 20% off for the appetizers. I would recommend Kankakee Grille . I do NOT recommend the meatloaf read more

Drink menu is on a touch screen pad which was helpful in locating a drink. Husband was minimally hungry and enjoyed the shrimp cocktail. I tried the salmon. We came here on a Saturday evening, because we had just landed, were hungry and I wanted to watch the Michigan game. Casey's was too busy and I didn't want to drive too far from our hotel. Plus my BF had never been to Michigan with me. We both ordered a house salad and we both ordered the pot roast. I am VERY picky about salads. I want green lettuce and for them to be cold. They were. I had blue cheese dressing and he had ranch. Both were really good and good size. The veggie that night was brussel sprouts (which I am not a fan of). So I just had the pot roast and mashed potatoes. The roast had great flavor. It was not over cooked and the sauce was very good. The portion was fine for me, but my BF thought it could have been a bit bigger. So she walks away and comes back about 5 minutes later to see if I was ready. I was but where was the beer that was ordered 5 minutes ago? I had gotten the lobster roll and it was alright but my fries were so over done that they were super crunchy. My partner ordered the bison ribeye and he seemed to enjoy it so that's good. Honestly the coconut ice cream that we got as a dessert was my favorite part. She dropped off the check with dessert but never returned... Our third visit to this Kankakee Grill location was not as positive as our prior visits. The live music was great as usual, but service at the bar was only mediocre as our bartender just didn't seem to have his heart into his job. It might've been related to when we asked him for his personal dinner favorites on the menu to which he had very little to offer. He mentioned that employees are not offered complimentary opportunities by management to try menu items, unless they want to come in on their days off and pay full price to try the menu options. I don't know if that's true, but the server on our prior visit mentioned something similar when we asked her for her menu favorites / recommendations. If this information is accurate, that's a real gap in both management and customer service. We can't be the only customers who ask for menu suggestions from their servers. read more

We had a reservation for 6:15 pm and we are driving in from Illinois and did not realize there is a time change to Eastern time zone. We called on our way there and let them know we are going to be late. They said they are completely booked and need to move our reservation to 9:45 pm. We kept the reservation and gambled for 2 hours before our reservation. We got to the restaurant around 9:30 pm and they sat us right away- restaurant did not appear to be too busy. The hostess told us there would be a band starting at 10:00 pm and we were seated very close to the stage. Not ideal for a romantic quiet dinner for Valentine's Day. Our server was ok and brought us our soup and salad before we received our drinks from the bar. Drinks were ordered before we ordered our dinner. We ordered the Valentines Day special which was $85 per couple. We finally received our drinks after I prompted the server. After the band started it got way too loud in the restaurant and thankfully we were almost done. Food special was lobster tail and a filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The food was great and steak was cooked to perfection but the temp toothpicks were still in our steak when brought out which are supposed to be removed prior to serving. We felt like we were at the church for someone's wake. I can't comment on the food since I mainly come here for the music. This is one of the cleanest, beautiful casino entertainment areas I've seen. There's no smoking. The dance floor is beautiful and the space is very large. If someone spills a drink on the floor (note people, don't take your drinks on the dance floor) it is quickly cleaned up. I made reservations in January to stay at 4 winds 2 nights and made a reservation for the Valentine special at Kankakee at the same time. My reservation was for noon on the 12th of February. My wife and I got seated, were shown the special which I already knew about, and ordered said special. The waitress was nice and friendly. She took our order without any issue. Then another person came over who I guess was a manager, maybe, she said there is a misunderstanding in the kitchen and the special won't be offered until 4pm. What?, Really? You're telling me your incompetent kitchen staff can't cook a steak and boil a lobster tail. Good grief, pick another profession. So needless to say we left and won't go back. We will go to Firekeepers casino in Battle Creek before we head back to 4 winds now. Its about the same distance from where I live and I have never had an issue with their restaurants. I suggest you avoid this crappy restaurant. They should close Kankakee down and put Hard Rock back in. They could handle the job. Kankakee is overpriced and you can't get what you make reservations for. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more
