Came because their boat noodles were highly recommended. The parking lot is super small, but there's decent street parking nearby. The decor feels very homely, but also very tame. The server was extremely friendly and accommodating, and helpful with suggestions. I had the Thai milk coffee and the boat noodles medium spicy... I though I liked spicy foods but oof, medium was too much, they make it hot! The serving size was very generous and I was very happy with it overall. Stopped by around 5 PM on a Friday and was surprised to find parking easily, even though the parking lot in front is quite small. The restaurant only had one waiter working, but he was incredibly kind, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. We ordered the Golden Tofu, Pad See Ew with Beef, and Mango Sticky Rice. Everything we tried was delicious, and the portions were good for the price. Authenticity fresh and deliciousness dishes,starting from the pho boat noodles if you like beef. The papaya salad is lemony delicious with your choice of spices or non spice at all. They making perfectly well to your liking. The OG. Fried chicken is to die for with crunchy outside and juicy inside but well cooked. All paired up well with the sticky rice. This rice isn't sweet like dessert you would normally expect from sticky rice and mango though it's has the texture mixed between sushi's rice and jasmine rice combo. I ordered for delivery today yet their packaging was so utterly flawless nothing leaked yet well packed. Love loved! This spot is excellent! It's a family owned restaurant and only two people are in the back cooking (everyday). The reason I love that is because it offers consistency in the flavors. That said, the flavors are Always fresh, vibrant, and full of spice. I especially love the spicy eggplant and soft shell crab panange. The soups are delicious and so are the noodle dishes. The serving size is perfect for one person, and you might even take a little home with you--I never do, but I've seen it happen. The prices are fair and the service is too. Parking is easy, and it's primarily street parking as the lot is tiny. The ambiance is quaint and no frills. The bathroom is very clean, btw. I think the servers are the daughters of the parents that are cooking in the back. Oh, the desserts are great! If you live in the area you should definitely give it a try. I have only eaten in the restaurant, so I can't speak about how the food holds up in delivery. One last thing, the fried tofu has always been crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside; it's never once been fried to a point where it's hard all the way through. The service has always been fantastic. Family owned and even when super busy the one server always keeps up on everything. As someone who was once a server, I will tell you she is top of the line! It's not easy to be the only person serving and in charge of takeout at a packed restaurant(even of this size). I also wanna give a mention that this place actually brings the spice! The sliced chicken breast in the chicken noodle soup was tender and the broth was clean and simple. The crying tiger was really good. My family is from Thailand, and I've just returned from a trip there, so I can confidently say that Kao Hom's dishes are truly comparable to what you'd find in Thailand. I highly recommend trying: -Kao Soi with soft-shell crab, -Rad Na with sen mee, -boat noodles, -chicken over rice (Khao Man Gai), and -mango with sticky rice. It's such a treat to have truly authentic Thai food nearby without needing to make the trek to East Hollywood. Some of our favorite dishes include the chow mein noodles, Pad Thai, Garlic Green Beans, Crying Tiger, green papaya salad, and a variety of beautifully spiced curries. Just not sure why it had to heat up in the pot. It was served lukewarm and only got hot when it sat in the pot for a bit. Kind of weird. The shrimp were fresh so that was nice. The Duck Curry. The flavor was also just alright. Duck is pretty gamey but it just didn't taste fresh. I'd skip this as well. The Drunken Noodles were good. Flavor was nice and the shrimp also tasted fresh. I'd get these again. I gotta say something about the spice level. We love spicy but to be safe we did Medium spicy. The chef's gotta go back to the drawing table on that. It was too spicy. I'd go mild and then add on to taste. The place was clean so that was greatly appreciated. Overall I wouldn't make this place a regular. I'd go back for the Drunken noodles and maybe the Tum Yum if in the mood. But definitely forgo being served by someone in a bad mood and take it to go. 2 1/2 stars with some potential. read more

The freshest and most delicious Thai food in the area. I have ordered many times from here as well as other local Thai spots and Kao Hom takes the cake. Make sure to get the yellow curry soup and the pad see ew. Everything from this place is very tasty and the medium spice really brings the heat. This is a delicious, tucked-away Thai spot located next to Black Heart Coffee and you can easily miss it if you are driving by. There are new owners who took over the restaurant recently and they have added a mom & pop vibe. The smell when you walk in is wonderful with all the food being cooked in the back! I ordered the Kao Soi for lunch on a rainy day recently and it hit the spot! The Kao Soi was delicious and is a rare dish to find in most Thai spots in Socal so when I see it, I know I have to try it. They checked all the boxes with a creamy, complex broth with sweet, sour, and savoriness. The egg noodles were well-cooked and and I liked the fact you can order sliced chicken breast so it doesn't have to be too messy to eat it with drumsticks. The mustard greens was a must and paired well with the soup but I wished the crispy noodles were more crispy as I felt there were too chewy for me and got soggy fast when they were sitting in the broth. This is not my favorite Kao Soi, but a damn good one! The restaurant is on the smaller side with it being on the narrow side. There are tables on both sides and service is great and the staff are friendly and helpful. I live just a block away from this restaurant. I was craving some Thai food and I really rushed through traffic coming from work just to make it there before they close. This was on Thursday 9/19/25. I got there at about 8:54pm, they have the "Open" sign on and their business hours say 11am to 9pm as you can see from the photo I took. I went inside to place an order to take home, not that I wanted to stay in there and eat past closing time but the lady I met just rudely told me they are closed. I asked what time they close and why the sign outside says open and close time is 9pm, and all she just said to me was "we are closed". I don't know about you but I worked in the restaurant business for over 8 years and even as a manager, I made sure anyone who gets to our restaurant before close time will be able to order food because they got there within business hours. This was my first time trying to order from this restaurant because I am very new in the neighborhood and based on this experience I will never attempt to go there again.To me it's a red flag on the type of service you will get at this restaurant and her attitude made me write this review which is the first yelp review I've written in maybe 10 years now. Who ever runs this restaurant should teach the staff a thing or two about service. Tucked away and hidden next to black heart coffee is a little family owned and operated hole in the wall Thai restaurant called Kao Hom. I first noticed that the menu was overwhelming with so many options. Which was both intimidating and exciting at the same time. Luckily, my eyes were drawn right away to the fact that they had Kao Soi, curry noodle. I asked if I could have it with crab and I would definitely recommend it. The crab came in deep fried nuggets, which perfectly complimented the noodle. And of course I had to try the salmon panang. After deciding whether I should get it grilled or deep-fried, I chose grilled while I wondered if salmon is even an authentic Thai found fish.
