    Fried Talapia. Delicious!

Love these gals at Box St.,Thai. They are so welcoming and kind.. The food is great! Very nice portions and everything is so tasty The fried tilapia is one of our favorites. The lime sauce that comes with it is just the perfect touch! Make sure you get the real crab fried rice. Last night ventured out and got some things. We don't normally get and of course, no disappointment there. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu.

Boyfriend and I have eaten here twice in the past week (both To Go orders). I have a feeling this will be a new regular spot for us. The staff here are friendly and hardworking. I like that this restaurant has plenty of seating. There are smaller tables for an intimate party of two but they also have a table for 8 which can easily be turned into a table for 12. Portions in are pretty decent. Our first order was $80-something and that lasted us 5-6 meals, which isn't bad at all. Writing this review on a workday lunch hour and while there are customers here, you'll be able to be seated right away. This is conveniently located near Lake Balboa, which makes it a great option for an impromptu picnic at the park. This is in a small shopping center so parking might be tight sometimes.

Tucked away in a quiet little plaza, box Thai street food is nestled inside. Stepping into the restaurant, the air is thick with the aroma of chili, lemon grass & other delicious Thai scents. The coconut fried shrimp was perfectly fried with that crunchy coconut exterior & moist juicy shrimp interior with a sweet and sour tangy sauce. We also ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai & the green curry. I prefer my curry to be thicker, so I politely asked the hostess if we could send it back to be made thicker & she gave me a very curt, " No." My surprise only deepened when she said that if I didn't like it, I didn't have to eat it and she would just cancel the order. I was left a little taken back as I was not complaining about the flavor or that I didn't like it, I just said I wanted it to be made thicker but she said that was an impossibility & that quote, " is the way we make it!!" At other Thai restaurants when I had asked for the curry to be thickened they would do so very happily so I was left a little confused.

Updating my review from 2 stars to 1... The owner's response was dismissive and inaccurate. There were multiple people present during the call (on speaker), and our eyes LOCKED from the shock of the tone coming from this lady. Also, referencing another review that praised the service is irrelevant. One positive experience does not negate or invalidate a negative one. More importantly, I was told a refund would be issued. It has now been over two and a half weeks, and nothing has been received. That is unacceptable and shows lack of integrity. To be clear, the issue is not the incorrect order, mistakes happen. It is how it was handled: - Rude and dismissive response to feedback - Misrepresentation of the interaction publicly - Failure to follow through on a promised refund I had been a loyal customer for years and even recommended this place to others. Including the friend who lives down the street that we ordered from on this date of incident! Unfortunately, I can no longer do so. For context, feel free to review my other reviews...they are overwhelmingly positive. I do not leave negative reviews lightly. I am glad there are many amazing and friendly Thai restaurants in the area. My heart was broken but I hope I can help prevent a few from an unfortunate dining experience.

This is my fourth time coming to Box Thai Street Food, and they continue to impress me every single time! The customer service is always excellent, the staff is welcoming, and the food is consistently fresh and full of flavor. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Definitely one of my favorite spots, and I'll keep coming back!

Tom Kha Soup with seafood mix

I'm not very knowledgeable about Thai food, but I had been craving a seafood soup my boyfriend introduced me to and ended up stopping here while in the Van Nuys area. Don't let the small strip-mall location fool you--the inside is clean, welcoming, and beautifully decorated. From the moment you walk in, the service is attentive and thoughtful. I ordered the Tom Kha with a seafood mix, the ribeye salad, and a large Thai iced tea--and everything was phenomenal. The seafood was perfectly cooked, the ribeye was incredibly tender, and the flavors were outstanding. I went with hot spice for the soup and medium for the salad, and both were spot-on. This place truly deserves its great reviews--from the service to the food. I'll definitely be back (next time to try the Tom Yum), though the Tom Kha with coconut milk is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

Cute spot and good food! My son loved their orange chicken and pad Thai. I was so happy they had mango sticky rice! For whatever reason every time I go to a Thai place.. they are always out. Service was good and our waitress was very attentive. We will definitely come back! :)

Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. I'm not sure if it's always easy to park on weekends, yet managed to find a spot as soon as I pulled up. Decent size dining room and was greeted/ sat immediately. The Staff was very kind and accommodating. I had the chicken satay and cashew nut lunch special. Probably the best Thai chicken satay I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and still juicy. Will be back to try other items.

We decided on Oi Asian which had great reviews, so why not. First off, let me say that there is plenty of parking, however, the parks are extremely narrow for some reason. It was a struggle to get in and out of the car due to the width of the parks smh. Anyway, once we got inside, there wasn't anyway at the register and after standing there for a while, I noticed the kiosk so unplaced my order there. There were only two cooks in the back. We placed our order and sat down. The place was clean but everything seemed like it was do it yourself. The boys were thirsty and there wasn't an option for water on the kiosk, so I called one of the cooks from the back to pay for a water and he rang me up. It was pretty rough in there. At one point I had to get up and grab my own fork by reaching over the counter. Once our food was ready, one of the cooks brought our food and I wasn't really feeling my meal, which was the dynamite crawfish bowl. I didn't like the sauce it came with. I just picked at the crawfish and left the rest. As for the boys meal, the fried chicken adobo bowl was REALLY good! I ended up eating theirs because my oldest son didn't like it, which was great for me lol. My youngest and I tore that bowl up. Anyway, the verdict is, I may search around for other options but I know that if I can't find anything else I can always grab a chicken adobo bowl but the service was pretty nonexistent. That chicken adobo bowl saved it. OOO 3 out of 5

The woman on the phone gave us an estimated wait time of 10 minutes. When we arrived, we quickly noticed how small the parking lot was. There were only two spots opened. I'm not sure what it would have looked like if we came during rush hour, but at least there was spots for us to park in. When we got inside it was pretty small with about 15 seats available for dine in. There was one other party there at the same time we were. Once we paid, we saw the fried shrimp coming from out of the kitchen, so we knew ours were almost ready since they just needed to wrap them up. This place was the definition of a local mom and pop business. Mom was running the cash register, and Pop was in the kitchen. They were two of the sweetest people. She even came out to the dining area to hand us our food, rather than screaming at us from behind the counter. We drove home (5 mins away), and I unpacked the food to find that each box was labeled. It probably wasn't necessary since we could very clearly see which was shrimp and which was bulgogi but I appreciated the small touches. My partner and I each had one half of the shrimp and one half of the bulgogi and it as unanimous that our favorite was the fried shrimp. They do include a sauce that has the slightest kick, but in my opinion it was the best kind of spicy where it isn't painful and it's actually quite pleasant, complimenting the fried shrimp very well. Overall - we are so glad we tried this little local spot. The fried shrimp ritto was so good, I want to try other items, but I know I'll be craving that fried shrimp ritto again.

I called in to order takeout of a fried chicken and bulgogi "ritto" for two. It was a fast, delicious lunch! A 'ritto is a "burrito" style wrap-- white rice with seasoned protein, kimchi, special mayo, + optional chili all wrapped in Korean seaweed. The burrito itself is a bit fragile since it's large and the seaweed is the nice thin kind, so it's nice to eat it with a fork over a plate/box so you don't miss any bites I like a seaweed wrap which is fewer carbs than a flour/corn tortilla. The white rice is fluffy and sticky (all good things). The special mayo did it for me. The lettuce (romaine?) was crispy and fresh. There's space to sit inside if you want to dine in, and parking is easy as there's a lot. Located at the corner of Saticoy and Winnetka. Price is comparable to other protein-packed sandwiches in the Valley. And I like supporting local businesses that make yummy food. Looking forward to coming back soon.

I finally made it, and well, no surprise, I am a fan. Parking Located on the corner of Magnolia and Whitsett Ave. There is plenty of street parking. But if your feeling a bit bold, there is a closed Rite Aid across the street that has a bunch of parking. Ambiance: For starters, this there is something about the decor, very classy yet casual somewhere you can have a quiet lunch and enjoy the day. I felt at home here and at ease. The staff were great on checking up on me every now and then and made sure I was well taken of. Food: There is a lot to talk about here. The name, for all accounts did not scream Thai Food, yet, I haven't had better Thai food and the area. I stopped in for lunch and they had a such a good Lunch selection and affordable ($20) that also includes a drink. I ordered the BBQ (due to macro restrictions) paired with a small salad and rice. Level with me, BBQ chicken is something I order really to test the waters and I can honestly say, one of the better BBQ chickens I have had. Though this review doesn't do Rustic Spoon much justice, I would highly recommend swinging by. I will, I would love to try some more traditional flavors such as the different curries and soups. Looking forward to the follow up!

They "close" at 10:30 (the place was still hopping at 10) and we arrived at a little past 9:00, figuring at that hour we wouldn't need a reservation. Think again, the place was just one click shy of a madhouse. The bar was lively and the tables were occupied mostly by 20-30 somethings in crocks and belly shirts, jabbing food in the mini fire pits and shoveling it in their mouths with the authority of hungry guard dogs. We had to wait 10 minutes or so, for a table and another 7 or so for our server to appear. It gave us a chance to peruse the menus. Yes, menus, plural. There are three laminated ones and a book with pages. Given how extensive the food menus are, the drink menu was a little unimpressive. The sake list had a few things listed, not including a Nigori. The white wine had two, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. We like Sauvignon Blancs but ordered the Pinot Grigio. Mezza Corona. That's what casinos comp pour at the slots in Vegas. It was fine, but not optimum. Overwhelmed by the menus and not particularly craving one thing, we decided to order the "Anniversary" dinner for two. It was a set combination of mostly proteins with the house salad and miso soup. The "poke" wasn't the usual gooey stuff seen in most raw places. It was perfect little cubes of ahi and marinated onions over a bed of pickled seaweed. The salad was large and simple, with a sesame dressing. Then... omg the proteins started to appear. Every single one was delicious. We found that putting the pork belly on the grill helped to keep the following proteins from sticking. The rice was beautifully steamed. The miso soup was even the best I've had in a long time, with lots of tofu and seaweed sinking to the bottom. I can see how this would be a great place for a group, and I can't wait to go with more friends; albeit my husband and I really enjoyed the respite. Our server, Cole, was cool and real. He didn't seem to need to pretend to be nice. He was just a sincere, caring young man. Their happy hour times are worth noting. They're happy throughout the day and night with the exception of 6:30 - 8:30 pm. There is a happy hour combination menu you might want to consider, especially if you've never been here and just want to see what's going on. There are AYCE choices which might come in handy if you're really into some favorites. There's also a big thing about Wagyu. Eh. Different strokes I guess. We'll definitely be back. We really enjoyed the experience. We reduced one star for the silly valet parking and the not-so-great wine list.

Our server today, Fallon, was nothing but stellar. She would check up on us when she saw our food getting lower. It was nice to see how proactive she was. If you can, definitely ask to be seated in her section. Great dinner and will be back again.

The food quality is artisanal and delectable and they are beautifully presented. My family always order the Pad See Ew, Green Curry, Crying Tiger, and Thai Iced Tea. The Pad See Ew and Green Curry are always good while the Crying Tiger is always a standout. Love the Thai iced tea, too! I suggest you order the Thai iced tea to go with the food at the same time or you might swill the drink until there is nothing left. Service was excellent. The staff exuded emotions of joy. If you see them smile then you smile back which equates to happiness. Food also comes out fast which is great especially when you are hungry. I like the interior. The lighting and mix of colors feel completely deliberate, structured and cozy. Honestly, environment can decide the mood. Price is reasonable for the experience you receive. The quality of food, the cleanliness, and the satisfactory service are all worth the price. As you enter, the first thing we noticed was the nice decor and cleanliness. We were greeted by a smiling friendly face, and seated right away at a booth. She was very attentive when listening to our food and drink orders. We ordered the curry lunch special, Thai fried rice, coconut nut based soup, vegetable egg roll appetizer, and Thai ice coffee and tea. Everything was the right temperature and the flavors were great. The welcoming service and the flavors of the food reminded me of my many trips to Thailand. We will be back soon. Thank you.
