The fried chicken was very crunchy and tasted delicious with the sauce. I liked the sweet and sour sauce better than the sweet teriyaki. The entree came out hot and ready in less than 10 minutes, really quick. I liked the softness/wetness of the ginger rice at Kao Mun Gai. In other words, I don't like when the rice is too dry. I came here for lunch one day and tried 2 different drinks - the pink matcha and also the chocolate boba shake - both very delicious! The matcha was kind of sweet, but it was expected. I also tried the crab rangoons, combo pad thai (chicken and shrimp), and combo sticky rice with steamed chicken and fried chicken. All dishes had the flavor profiles I expected from Thai cuisine and satisfied my Thai food cravings! The pad thai is one of the best pad thais I have had in a long time. I always look for that sourness flavor to the noodles, and this one hit the spot. The noodles were cooked to perfection and had a good amount of crushed peanuts on the side, which I also look for! A lovely little Asian cafe with even lovelier service. The server always seems to be very warm and inviting whenever I get a chance to pop in. The name "kao mun gai" translates to Singaporean chicken and rice, which is one of my faves when visiting. The prices are pretty good too, nothing crazy, especially considering this is a fast-casual spot with a homey feel. There's a huge selection of drinks they offer, with iconic colorful milk teas like the pink matcha, or the butterfly latte which boasts a stunning blue shade thanks to butterfly pea powder. I also tried the Pad Thai which was yummy and generously portioned, perfect for leftovers or to share. My dad also liked his yakisoba but be careful with the spices, they are authentic levels haha. I ordered the fried chicken/steamed chicken combo over fried rice. My gosh-- it was AMAZING. It comes with three sauces, and if you know me, I'm a dipping queen! Haha. I wish it came with some chili oil or chilies on the side for a little kick. However, everything was so flavorful & it even comes with a side of chicken broth. Yummm! I added a Thai tea with boba, it wasn't the best, but it wasn't terrible. I'd give it a 7/10. Share tea and Fengcha are still my favorite place for boba, but you can't beat that price here. This place is so cute and they have a lil something for everyone (including vegetarians!) which is what I love. My favorite dishes were the Gochujang (sweet & spicy chicken) and the Pad Thai. They have a ton of different bubble teas to choose from, but BABY, their Dang Soda is literal heaven. It's indescribable but if I had to explain it, it's fizzy, sweet, sour, and juicy. Ordered a yummy Thai Tea with boba, chicken Pad Thai, chicken katsu and steamed Kao Mun Gai. The Pad Thai and Katsu was delicious. But what stood out was the Kao Mun Gai - Kao means Rice and Gai means Chicken. Traditionally a street food. It's a lightly flavored yet filling dish. Kao Mun Gai is located next to Western Ave Tattoo which I frequently visit. I originally walked over there just to get a drink because of its location but, was pleasantly surprised by their unique drink combinations and delicious eggrolls and pad thai. I am pleased to express my gratitude to OKC yelpers who led me to bookmark this place at some point. Driving from Dallas to Manhappiness today, we decided eating in OKC around 2 PM seemed liked a good idea. I looked at my bookmarks about 45 minutes south, and we decided that if we would be eating in the car (it was chilly outside) we better not order pho or ramen or something like that. I LOVE kao mun gai, Hainan chicken rice, and any of its cousins, so I figured we had to try this. It is a pick-up/delivery place only, so I ordered via the yelp app around 1:45 PM when we were 15 minutes away by car. After reading the reviews, we decided to order one fried chicken and rice and one steamed chicken and rice. I also got a Thai iced tea. We arrived and found parking in a strip of spots in front of the center. Eric R. wanted to get a "hot water refill" for his tea tumbler, so he went inside and was able to get the hot water and our order before I was even notified it was ready on yelp! It was apparently being packaged the moment we arrived, imagine that! We had a picnic in the car. The packaging was so nice. I took the fried chicken and Eric R. had the steamed chicken, and we decided just to enjoy our own and not share. His came with the sweet soy and ginger garlic sauces, and mine came with sweet soy and sweet chili sauces. We shared the ones the other person did not get, and honestly all three were delicious. The side of broth was also awesome and perfect to accompany the dish and the weather, plus the refreshing cucumber slices were the finishing touch. I loved the entire dish. The chicken was crisp and delicious but not greasy, the rice was flavorful, the broth warm and comforting, and the sauces so yummy. It was topped with fresh cilantro sprigs too. I could eat this a lot, so I am definitely jealous of people who have access to this on the regular. I am so happy to have found this little nook! Coming from SE Asia, Thai food has been a big player in terms of cuisines I was exposed to growing up. My Thai lineage - was very happily surprised to have found a place that stuck to traditional flavors here! Khao man gai is one of the stars of Thai cuisine, and is quite identical to it's Malaysian counterpart - Hainanese Chicken Rice. The difference between the two is the condiment it comes with, but everything else is about the same. Here, they've absolutely nailed it! From the rice, all the way to the winter-melon soup that came alongside it! I haven't had winter-melon soup since I moved here, so this place helped a little with being homesick. The sauce that came alongside it (not the sweet soy sauce, and not the sweet chili sauce), was spot on. They didn't hide away from the spice, which I absolutely loved. In Thailand when you have it with fried chicken, it's called Khao Man Gai Tod. Nevertheless, they did both versions very well and I adored that they serve boba too! It took a couple tries before I actually found them. The shop is tiny with only one small table which was occupied by a family. Unfortunately I skipped out on the food menu this time around but I went for a large Pink Matcha. I asked the staff what was in it but he said an Asian pink fruit juice mixed with matcha. Simply unique. Kao Mun Gai is fairly new. It's small, but lovely. They only had one table available for their guests, along with two chair stools. I'm assuming that they are still working on getting more tables/chairs into their establishment. When I say that they're unique, I mean that they have drinks that I have not encounter before in OKC. The BF ordered an ovalcano drink with boba (tasted very similar to chocolate milk, but not what you would expect) and I ordered the pink matcha with boba (tasted like strawberry matcha)! The drinks were very strong in their flavors and not extremely sweet. The presentation of the drinks are beautiful and in my opinion, picture worthy. :P The staff was very friendly! They encourage you to take photos of their foods/drinks, so I didn't feel awkward taking my 'foodie' pictures. I'm so happy I get to try this place out!! I've been trying to go but couldn't, the bf came through today and we did!! I got the Hojicha and bf got the Butterfly Latte. Both were so good, I personally don't like sweet so hojicha was perfect for me. The butterfly latter is on a sweeter side but it was very pleasant, even for non-sweet person like me, it was also super milky which my bf love! Their special drinks have layers and I think they just look so good, esp in photos! I also ordered a regular both kinds of chicken rice. The sauce that came with the meal was really good, I really really like the brown ginger sauce, it has a little bit of a kick. The boiled chicken was soft and tender, the fried chicken was crispy.
