I went on a weekday at 6:00pm and there was no problem parking. There is parking in the back, and also the meters on Ventura were plentiful, but maybe I caught it at a good time/day. This is our new go-to spot for Thai curry. We have enjoyed the red curry, green curry, and pad see ew. Everything is consistently tasty - I especially like the red curry, and my husband is a fan of the green. I have been obsessed with red curry for a while now and theirs is one of my favorites! It's also one of the few places in town where they don't charge extra for rice with your curry. (Is that an LA thing?) We have had positive experiences ordering delivery. I also appreciated that when we ordered a dish with shrimp they gave a reasonable amount! (A huge pet peeve of mine is paying extra for shrimp and then getting a stingy portion -- what am I paying extra for, in that case?? So I was relieved that they don't do that here.) Loved the pad Thai. Different than most in that it has a dark sauce (soy or some other, not sure) which darkens noodles. Really tasty. One star off for service. Took 15 minutes during lunch just to get menus or a drink. Will try again soon. read more

This place sucks! I love Thai food, but I was very disappointed with this restaurant. My girlfriend and I ordered red curry with chicken, and one of their grilled meat dishes. Honestly, who needs to add sriracha to curry!!! The curry was super bland and there was absolutely no spice. The meat dish looked like a fajita dish, but not even close to being as good. The meat was extremely over cooked and fatty, and it came with a weird ponzu type sauce, and mushrooms and onions. Nothing special! I can't reiterate enough how disappointing our experience was here, and to make it worse our server was non existent and had the worst recommendations. Like one of the other reviews, we experienced the same smoky air. We will definitely not dine at kao cafe again! read more

The food is decent enough, but as a service based business I am appalled with this restaurant. The fact that they would charge a customer extra for brown rice, fail to deliver any rice and then refuse to refund the charge is unacceptable and in my opinion is theft and fraudulent charges. You cannot charge for something the customer did not receive. This company has such a disregard for customer service that it has even failed to respond to the Better Business Bureau's attempts to resolve this complaint. read more

First time ordering from this place and it was a Saturday night. The delivery was fast and the driver was very nice. The food itself was really amazing. I got the crying tiger, which I love. The meat is a little bit fattier than I like, but I am very picky about that, so take that with a grain of salt. We ordered the pot stickers, Thai fried rice with chicken and my husband got Prik King. All of the food had great taste and flavor and arrived hot. Will definitely be ordering again! read more

After all the great reviews I was very excited to give this place a try. I know this is a new restaurant so I tend to give them a break on service but there were so many mistakes I had to lower my star rating. First off we walked over for their lunch special; when we arrived it was full except for one 2 person table (there are a total of 10 tables so even full they can only serve about 26 people at a time). The 2 person table was quickly cleaned off and we were seated. Having looked at the menu at home we already knew what we both wanted- Pad See Ew with beef and the Lamb Bowl with an order of Chicken Satay. Service was not as quick as I expected it to be but the waitress finally came over and we ordered food and drinks at the same time. I asked for my Thai Iced Tea to be put into a to go cup because I rarely finish a beverage. She walked away and came back a few minutes later with our drinks- mine in a regular glass. Not a huge issue since I ended up downing the entire beverage there (it was really good). After waiting for awhile I noticed other tables that came in after us were getting their food before ours. Also not a big deal but since I was starving it bothered me a little. Then one of the employees came to our table to say they were out of brown rice and if I would take white rice instead. I said fine even though I'm not a huge fan of white rice. What restaurant runs out of brown rice? It's not like meat that spoils quickly. Then they brought a dish and put it in front of me- something I didn't order. When I said "that's not my lamb bowl" they took it away and a few minutes later brought my fiancee's Pad See Ew. Then they brought me another dish- Larb. Again I told them I ordered a lamb bowl. They apologized and a few minutes later they brought out my correct order. The food was good and definitely generous portions for the price- although the sauce to meat and rice ratio was way off in the lamb bowl. If it wasn't for bringing me the wrong food twice and being out of 2 things I ordered (we never got the chicken satay either) I would have given them 4 stars. Since the Pad See Ew was so good I may venture back again for take-out but I'll be checking my order before I walk out the door...... read more

1 Hour and 40 minutes for Delivery! Apparently you shouldn't order from here when it's busy because that was the only reason provided to me as to why our food took so long. And yes our food was cold by the time it arrived. On top of that it was implied by Phon/Phun/Phoung (not sure of the spelling) that I was lying about how long it took. When I spoke with her on the phone she said "Was it really that long". So not only do you not want to sympathize with my situation but you also want to call me a liar. I checked the call log on my phone from when the order was placed to when I called to complain and it was 1hour and 40mins. Called at 8:10pm and food didn't arrive until 9:50pm. On top of that Phon/Phun/Phoung decided she would just hang up on me when she had nothing else to say. I was extremely offended and called back to see why she would hang up, she said on no I didn't hang up on you.... Only to hang up on me yet again. Overall I strongly recommend not to go or order from this place. The food was so so compared to other thai spots I've had. Maybe it would've been better if the food was hot when I got it but that might be a stretch. read more

Honestly, I've never had a bad experience here. It's a tiny establishment right next to my house with the most flavorful and fresh thai food I've been able to find in Los Angeles. I usually get a curry and a pad thai, and it's always amazing. Not terribly fatty or oily, always cooked to perfection, and always with the most amazing flavors. read more

I think the food is good, but not great. The valley does not have great thai places. The reason for the one star is dishonesty. 1. Always order in, crap service but they give you about half the amount of food for delivery then if you are dining in. 2. They say free delivery for three miles, but they charged me $4.00, even though its exactly 2.8 miles away. That's really not right. read more

I wasn't so sure of this place when I dropped in on a Saturday evening to get some barbecue chicken to take out and was told that they had run out of chicken already. A couple of weeks later I gave it another chance and did get the chicken, which was quite good, though at $8.99 I think they could perhaps throw in a little bit more than a handful of greens, Maybe a side of rice? I just went back tonight for more takeout barbecue chicken, but this time thought I would get an appetizer as well, so I ordered the fried wonton stuffed with minced chicken. Let me tell you that essentially what I got was about six deep-friend wontons - each wrapper containing around enough chicken to cover maybe a dime. For $6.95! I love their Chicken Panang Curry with garlic rice - delish!

I've eaten inside the restaurant a few times and I can't complain. The food is delicious. The service is friendly and helpful. I've ordered carry-out from them once. I showed up about 20 minutes after I placed my order and my curry wasn't done. I basically lost my lunch break waiting for my meal. I tried ordering delivery from this restaurant, but after about five minutes on the phone with the nice lady on the other end, she told me I was "too far away" for delivery -- even though I am only about four miles from the restaurant. That said, I find their delivery information a bit misleading. They need to rephrase it. I suggest they state on their site that they only deliver within three miles of the restaurant, and that with a minimum order of $15 the delivery is free. The way it reads right now sounds like you just qualify for free delivery if you're within three miles and order at least $15. Their food is really good, so I'm bummed they wouldn't delivery to me. (I just came from that direction and I've been up since 2am because I worked Black Friday.) The last thing I want to do is get back in my car and drive. Anyway, I had to order delivery from another Thai restaurant. Shame. read more

I work down the street from this place and will stop by for lunch every so often. As such, I'll usually order one of the lunch specials which comes with a salad, fried wonton, and rice. The salad has been doused in dressing every time I've had it, and I don't care too much for the particular dressing they use. I always opt for the garlic fried rice to go along with my entree and I would say the rice is pretty average. As far as entrees go, I've tried their yellow curry, BBQ chicken, pad see ew, Thai fried rice, and spicy fried rice. All of these dishes, minus the curry, have always been sweeter than I am accustomed to for Thai food. Even the aforementioned salad dressing has an overwhelming sweetness to it. I enjoy Thai food for the savoriness of their dishes, but I find that to be lacking at this spot. Although the dishes are what you'd see at other Thai restaurants, the flavor is definitely unique. Pretty good overall. Duck rolls were super fresh, full of dick and crisp veggies. Wrapping them in a flour tortilla, while something different, made them unnecessarily heavy. Pumpkin shrimp curry was superb. Lots of fresh shrimp, tender pumpkin chunks that were soft but still had some tooth. Pad see yew noodles were bountiful and full of fresh meat and broccoli but the sauce was all wrong. This dish shouldn't be sugary sweet like how pad thai often is. Just was a candied-tasting miss. The food itself deserves 5 stars. However anytime I've ordered for delivery from eat24 it always takes about an hour and 15 minutes Yesterday I decided it would be quicker to pick up. I ordered at 8pm and didn't have my food until 9:15pm. It should not take this long. The poor girl working had a restaurant full of people waiting to order/get their tables cleared/ pay their checks. The phone was ringing off the hook and there was 5 groups of people waiting to be seated. I stood for 30 minutes waiting for my food. This isn't a good way to do business. Please hire more staff. read more

It was really good food. We got the coconut soup, pad see ew, chicken with green beans and spicy eggplant chicken as well as some sticky rice. The sticky rice was too sticky. The coconut was a little too salty but the spicy sauce took care of that problem. Everything else was super delicious. This place is amazing!! The beef pad see ew is the best. So delicious. The chicken fried rice was a little plain but I added the red sauce that came with it and it was perfect. Had it delivered to our hotel room and there wasn't a problem at all. Ended up ordering way too much food because the entrees were so big. Great left overs. So yummy. Great service! read more
