I love the location and the doctors who work here. Staff is a hit or miss. There are some workers who are nice and then theres some that just gossip. I never think it's okay to do so most especially in a room with patients, that's unprofessional. Dr. Stacie is very friendly, she makes conversation with both the little ones and the adult. She answers questions and also is very informative, which I appreciate. Compared to earlier this year's visit, the office seems dirty. Chairs with marking, walls are all dirty (especially near the bathroom door wall. The vents need to be cleaned. The pink door room has a bunch of dust hanging by the vents. And the vent inside the pink door by the door frame, is crazy filled with dust. Instead of workers standing around and gossiping, they can put work into helping with the upkeep. At least wipe down some walls and chairs. read more

Dr. Stacie and Dr. Dean Sueda are absolutely *phenomenal* pediatric dentists. I am grateful (in retrospect) for the covid nightmare because I never would have found these amazing doctors otherwise. Our previous pediatric dentist had certain policies in place that prevented my family and I from receiving care from his office and staff. My and my husband's dentist (Dr. Scott Wardwell) recommended Dr. Stacie and Dr. Dean Sueda as they tended to HIS children. Just logical, if a fellow DENTIST recommends a DENTIST- how can you have doubts about the quality of care?! I'm so glad, because they treated my daughter wonderfully! I first took my firstborn to Dr. Stacie at the Ala Moana office a couple of years ago for a cavity... Unfortunately, she developed a couple more and Dr. Stacie was on maternity leave so I sought Dr. Dean Sueda at the Kapolei Keiki Dental. He was incredible, too. Experienced, personable and caring! His staff made scheduling our appointments very easy and the dental hygienists and assistants were awesome and friendly! If you're searching for a keiki dentist or you're not stoked about your kids' dentist, you NEED to book with Dr. Sueda... any of them- you won't be disappointed! The building is at Kapolei commons behind the Spectrum building (behind the theater) and there is ample parking. It is a clean and new building and the sesame street wall stickers gave my kids lots to look at while waiting. read more

My girl gets bad anxiety when I tell her we're going to the dentist. We've been working on communicating openly as we noticed she sits better when she knows what's actually going to take place. We ended up using the table wraps because she kept moving, however Dr Stephen promised her that if she stayed still, he would unwrap her- and he did! This meant everything to my girl in terms of building trust. He kept his word (as she did hers) and everything went smoothly after that. It was an almost 2 hour dental visit, but my girl left with good feelings towards Dr Stephen and his staff. He is now her 'favorite' dentist. She's looking forward to coming back read more

The doctors are great. Dr. Sueda, Dr. Stacey, and Dr. Stephen are excellent with the patients, and they work so quickly when dental work needs to be done. As a mom of a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old who don't understand what is going on, I appreciate the quick work that they do. Their front office staff, however, has given me the wrong information multiple times. I call and ask questions about certain procedures, and they tell me one thing, and tell me I'm getting a certain doctor, and then on the day of the procedure, it's a different doctor. I don't know where the lapse in communication is coming from, but it's very frustrating. They have also told me I'm bringing in my kid for one thing and then telling me it's actually another. Which is not ok with me because I try to prepare and talk to my kids beforehand so they know what to expect, also it helps to know what they are planning to do because then I know what I'm paying for. This last visit really bothered me. I had my son's hands as he was getting cavities filled, and he was doing ok, but midway through this, another girl came in and held my son's legs down and was holding them down with what looked like a lot of her weight. I understand the need for him to keep still and safe, but the fact that she just came in and pretty much held him down without letting me know what was going on really upset me. My son wasnt doing that bad even the dental assistant that was assisting the dr said he didnt do bad. She also then has the nerve to look at me and say "oh sorry" with an attitude. I really wish I could have said better things about the office staff and the dental assistant, but I was really not happy with the service we got that day. I spoke to the office manager, and he heard me out, but I felt kind of blown off like he wasn't really hearing me. read more

Dr. Dean Sueda is truly amazing! He is so wonderful with kids (and parents ) and very personable/down-to-earth. My kids never fear coming here because they like him so much and he makes it such a great experience for them. He explains things well and takes time to talk to your kids about the importance of taking care of your teeth. Once in awhile it can be a bit of a wait from your set appointment time, but hey, if that means they're going the extra mile and being thorough, I'm okay with that any day. You can tell it's not because they overbook. The dental assistants are great as well. Once we did come across a female who was obviously getting impatient and aggravated with my kid (when he first started and was still terrified, didn't know what was going on) which kinda rubbed me the wrong way...cuz girl, don't work with kids or hide that better lol. But the rest are always fantastic and (not sure if it's because the kids arent scared anymore) we haven't encountered that since. Front desk staff are nice and welcoming. Clean office, kid-friendly waiting area AND bathroom in the waiting area is appreciated. Ample parking and great location! Highly recommend! read more

I'm only giving a 2 star only because a recently bad visit we had recently. My children has recently started coming to this dentist office and I've never had such an experience before. They were always so friend and kind and professional when talking to me and my children. My 5 year old has the worst PTSD when it comes to the dentist because she always remember cavities and getting shots in her mouth. (Nunmbing medicine so they can work on her cavities). Her very first time they had to strap her down for her safety and that absolutely terrified her. We recently had a visit and my daughter just was terrified she was gonna get shots again, they dental assistant calming told her she was just getting a cleaning and she stop crying, the dentist shortly after Dr.stephen joined (and personally I only like to request dr.stephen or his father because how well the work with my kids). He started off his cleaning but when my daughter seen the tools she panic thinking it was a shot, started screaming for me, begging to sit up cause she was having a panic attack, try to grab the tools out of his hands, I had to comfort her but all while this happened she started sliding down the chair and instead of letting go she was being held by her mouth. At this moment I wanted to just walk out. They used a tool to help open her mouth and quickly finished her cleaning so she could get up. Out of all our experiences this is the worst one. I understand they try to do their job and kids can be hard. But as a parent, that was very frustrating to watch. Overall I do think they are a good facility to go but in situations like that, I just recommend on working on how they handle it. read more

Absolutely Terrible Experience! DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE. If I could give this dental office zero stars, I would. My son went in for a routine dental cleaning, and we had the most traumatic experience imaginable. During the procedure, the dental assistant(Heather) forcefully held his arms down while the dentist(Dr. Jo Chun) worked. My son began screaming in pain, repeatedly saying, "Stop, you're hurting me!" When I looked down, I saw the dental assistant pinching and digging her fingers into his arm. I immediately intervened and demanded they stop. Not only did they fail to offer an apology, but when I complained to the receptionist, I was told there was no business owner or manager available. I was assured the owner would call me back, yet no one ever did. Due to the visible marks on my son's arms, I reported the incident to HPD. This office clearly lacks proper training in patient care, and their dental assistants have no understanding of safe restraint techniques. This is completely unacceptable! No child should have to go through this traumatic experience! read more

Kapolei Keiki Dental has been our children's dental provider for over 5 years. Not only is the office located in an area not heavily congested, there is ample parking as well. The lobby is colorful, air conditioned and CLEAN! There is a large TV and a clean bathroom also. The front office staff is always very welcoming. Each patient room is color themed and decorated, catering to the keiki! The dental staff, from coming into the lobby to get the child through to the entire appointment, are a caring and supportive group of professionals. Dr. Tsueda is hands-down the best dentist. My Four year old got her first X-rays and cleaning with the motorized toothbrush. At first the dental hygienist struggled to get the cardboard X-ray plastic thing in my daughter's mouth because it hurt the roof of her mouth. All the advances in technology and those stupid things are still around. She worked with another hygienist to calm my daughter down and get the photo op by sitting on the chair with her and talking her through it. Long story short she still has a positive association with the dentist which I want to hold onto as long as possible. My daughter walked out of there proud with her stickers and no cavities. Mahalo for using teamwork to keep my daughter calm and not forcing the issue when the first hygienist was struggling to get that X-ray plastic think in her mouth. Mahalo Kapolei dental. From the moment I walked in, I was met with nothing but rudeness, condescension, and disrespect from the entire staff for asking basic questions. Kapolei Keiki Dental is a great dentist office for kids, very friendly staff / dentist that my kids really have enjoyed since they started growing teeth. One negative I would mention is they're pretty contradictory. With an example being if you are 5-10 mins late for an appointment they tend to complain & lecture you about keeping your scheduled appointment time, and make you wait until absolutely everyone has gone. Which wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so slow & naturally backed up on appointments on a regular because on the other end even if you do show up 5-15 minutes early for a scheduled appointment somehow you still end up waiting 15-30 minutes to be called for your appointment which really makes their lectures extremely contradicting and unnecessary. That's something they should start addressing, cannot hold patients to a standard that they theirselves aren't even up to par on. read more

All five of my babies go to this dental office. All dentists are sooo patient and kind to my babies. They were so respectful and understanding to my baby who didn't want to check her teeth. This is SPECIFIC to the way the older dentist and the older staff woman treated my 5 year old son while trying to work on a cavity. Long story short, my son was convinced they were strangling him and I've never seen him so scared for his life. It did look like they were strangling him. He couldn't breathe through his nose, the dentist then covered his mouth with the laughing gas nose piece while my son was screaming he couldn't breathe. It was terrifying as a mother to see something like that. They forced his jaw open and inserted some type of medieval looking tool. That's when I had enough, told them to stop. The older dentist and the older staff woman walked out looking disappointed AF. Maybe they should work on adults if they can't handle children? This is why so many people FEAR the dentist.
