My family made a reservation for today, party of 6. We were celebrating my son's Birthday. We got the BBQ Set for $249, that was perfect! Meats, chicken, beef, lamb chicken Caesar salad, cucumber & tomato salad, eggplant dish, breads, hummus, sauce, plus a bottle of wine. In addition we ordered a Khachapuri, that is what my son was looking forward to! The service was good, the ambiance was very peaceful, loved the colors of the restaurant. Also the person who took my reservation over the phone was also very nice and helpful. We weren't sure of the best place to park and gave some suggestions as Sundays are extremely busy in the area. 1/2 my party found parking nearby and the other 1/2 found parking at the Galleria parking structure near Bloomingdale's. Be careful in the driving structure as there are blind spots of people rounding the Corners going from level to level and it's narrow. Walking from galleria to Kara's was not far at all but we did park on the roof, found a spot near the elevator. When we got to the ground floor, we cut through In-N-Out to the street. We would definitely return again!

Food is delicious!! I love armenian cuisine this restaurant has several great options! Service is great!! My server Samuel was very kind and attentive to me and all his tables. Very nice ambiance inside they have the tables set very nicely, staff is dressed clean and polished. Will be back! The watermelon cucumber lemonade is refreshing and a must try!

Conveniently located across the street from the Americana and Glendale Galleria. It was my first time trying Armenian food and it did not disappoint! The chicken lula plate was amazing and I liked the caprese salad as well. The Armenian cheese plate was interesting too- the block of feta cheese was a lot but it wasn't as heavy as other feta cheese I've had and the pairing with the herbs and bread was great. It almost felt Vietnamese. Loved the watermelon-cucumber lemonade too. Service was great and the restaurant was beautiful and comfortable. No wait on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. Knocked off a star because they were out of so many items we wanted- no Khurjin or Armenian combo. Was a bit pricey too. Free parking in the Glendale Galleria.

Right across from the Americana, so you've probably walked past this spot at least once. I've actually been here before during the day with my kids, but the evening vibe feels a bit different. The live violin music that night added a really nice touch. At first I didn't even realize it was traditional Armenian cuisine because the flavors felt somewhat similar to Mediterranean food. Once I realized, it made the experience feel a little more unique. The food was great for sharing, so coming with a group and ordering family-style worked really well. They also have fun cocktails, Armenian tea, and desserts neatly displayed in clean containers, which I thought was a nice detail. Overall, it was a fun experience and a great spot to visit when you're around the Americana.

I am the biggest fan of Caucasian food. Glad to see that Karas offered Khachapuri and other Georgian/Armenian options in Glendale. I ordered to go as I had to make a flight, but I thought my to go experience was nice. The server accurately predicted how long my food was going to be prepared. I also appreciated the interior of the place - I wish I could dine in. In terms of the food, I enjoyed it despite the drive back home. The Khachapuri had a nice balance in taste. The grape leaves weren't too soggy. The chicken was cooked well. The only reason why I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because I think the prices were higher than what I expected. I recommend folks to come by and try what Karas has to offer!

Have been here multiple times, food is good, but there definitely room for improvement. This place has a history of having bad, rotten potato's. And this is not the first time I've experienced it over the years. So it's definitely not one time thing. French fries are heated from the day before. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the plate, but there was only two small pieces of Lulah in each plates, and was plenty of potatoes that were gone bad. Since in many years they have not cared enough to change supplier it's clear for me that it will be the last time we order food from here

Karas is located right across the Americana and after many years of always walking by I finally got to try it. I've always had Armenian food like kabobs and dolma but I'm glad this place offers more than just that. Our server also made our dining experience here very enjoyable. Great vibes here and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a solid list of cocktails and wines. We got a beef in lavash and as well as the chicken BBQ plate. I've never had beef in lavash before and the flavor is delicious. It's like braised meat and it comes with cheese and other seasonings so you can make like a wrap. The chicken BBQ plate was incredibly juicy and tender served with rice, a side salad and a pepper with onions. Everything was fresh and tasted very healthy.

We were walking through Glendale a few weeks ago when we passed by Karas, and right away the smell stopped us in our tracks. My wife and I looked at each other and basically decided then and there: next time we're in the area, we're eating here. Fast forward to that "next time," and right as we're walking up, we see a DJ set up outside. Totally unexpected. Turns out it was the first time they were trying something like that, and even the servers asked what we thought about it. We sat inside, so it wasn't loud or anything, but from what we saw, it added a fun, laid-back energy to the place. We went with the Family Combo #1, which honestly should be called a feast. It came with pork ribs, lamb chops, beef and chicken BBQ, beef and chicken lula kabob, fire-roasted peppers, fire-roasted potatoes, rice, hummus, ajika, and a side salad. And they don't stop there; they bring out a side of bread too. I added tzatziki because... well, why not? Everything was just solid. Tons of flavor, perfectly cooked, and there was so much food we ended up with leftovers for the next couple of days. They don't technically have a kids' menu, but they do offer pizza, so we got a cheese pizza for our daughter, and she loved it. There's also a bar if you're just looking to grab a drink, and they've got a good amount of outdoor seating too. Overall, we had a great time and already made plans to come back soon with more of our family.

Finally - I like to give places benefit of a doubt, especially new places need time to establish. Visited five times before deciding what to write. Food - good variety, reasonable prices,tastes good(a bit on oily side), have tried several different items, pork ribs are great and of course Ajarakan(dough is Service - can't complain After giving this place many benefit of doubts We have visited Karas maybe dozen times now. Every time we go there is a mishap: service has become worse, one time we were totally ignored for about 15 minutes and we finally decided to leave and no one including the manager even bothered to approach us. Today we went again ordered spas and margarita pizza as usual. Apparently Until today I didn't know that margarita pizza has regular pizza sauce. I asked the waiter why there is a regular pizza sauce, he checked back with chef and told us that's how they have always been making it, and it wasn't 1st or 2nd time we had margarita pizza at Karas. Then he just said that he is just a waiter and can't do anything. REALLY, does the management even care about the complaints they get, most likely NOT. read more

I really can't understand why there are so many low ratings for this restaurant. I had a completely opposite experience. The food was fantastic and the menu has a variety of different options. We had the pleasure of trying a couple of different vegetarian options, and my friend ordered a chicken dish. The foods were well made and the service was solid. I think if they reduced the number of items offered on the menu, it will help people order more specialty items without being confused about all the categories. read more

I still like this place but this is for John to make some changes in your business hours. I leave 25 miles a way from you, tonight I really want it some Armenian food so drove 40 min arrived at 10.30 gland the didn't let me get in even for to go, if you advertise open until 11 please keep the kitchen open until 11 or change your closing time to 10pm so people like me don't drive this far. Bland, bland, f**king bland! The service was pretty dismal. The wait staff clearly didn't want to be there, didn't have a great grasp of the English language, and were slow and inattentive. The only redeeming quality was the button on the table to call a waiter. _ The food was not worth the money. Their chef has clearly never been introduced to salt, pepper and spices. Everything we ate was extremely bland and lacked flavor. And the menu is an absolutely freaking nightmare to read. Ps. If you do end up eating here, avoid the lemonade. It should be against the law to call what they served us lemonade. Overall, we went in with low expectations. And the place couldn't live up to even that. Needless to say, we won't return, and I'll be surprised if they manage to stay open much longer with things as they are. read more

We passed by and tried their sample. The chicken Lule was the best and the lady outside was really nice. So we went in for a meal. To our surprise, the food was really good and the price is affordable. The portion size is good and is not overwhelmingly big like other Kabab places. The pork rib is really tender and juicy. It's healthy for a person who work out regularly. The only thing to improve on will be have more waitresses and check on water more regularly. But waitresses here are really nice! read more

I just had an absolutely refreshing lunch. Fresh food, tasty (and as a vegetarian) I ate well. I enjoyed tzatziki sauce with bread, fresh salsa with homemade chips and my meal was the salmon burger (just as fresh and flavor able). I ate on the patio, which was scenic and peaceful at the same time. The plates are nice portions (I have leftovers). The service was friendly and modern - there's a communication button you push to communicate your needs in doors. They were a bit short handed yet I trust they'll have more employees with their great business - it's a great place to grab lunch, evening dining and they serve breakfast too. read more

After my original review, the manager of Karas reached out to me to give them another try and that they were actively trying to fix everything as a new restaurant. I did and was very pleasantly surprised! On arrival we were greeted instantly and the entire staff was very friendly. The service was very prompt and attentive. The food was delicious (we got the dip trio, caprese salad, pan roasted lamb chops and trout). After our meal, the manager came up and sat with us to see how everything was and see if there was anything else he could do. All and all I'm very happy to see the update on quality and it proves they are actively listening to their customers and improving. I will definitely be back to try the "specialty creme brule"! read more

THE BEST FOOD I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE!!! Eat here and you will not be disappointed! The food is the best, the service is great, the people working are friendly and make sure you are taken care of. Definitely worth the money. I've never had Armenian before food but this place definitely made an impression. The experience was enhance by the awesome decor, clean seating areas, welcoming interior! I was excited to try this place at first. We ordered 2 BBQ plates with lamb and pork ribs, which ended up costing $82 with 2 drinks. All would be good except the potatoes were cold and hard to chew, most likely made few hors ago and reheated. Same for the meat, they looked warm and crisp from outside, but cold and unpleasant inside. I really didn't want to say anything negative about this place, but for the $27 a plate I expected something freshly cooked and not reheated from who knows when. read more

Let me begin by saying that I've had this yelp account since 2013, but never once utilized it to leave a review, BUT THAT ALL CHANGED TODAY. I strongly believe that the very few positive reviews were left by friends/family because everything about Karas was disappointing. SERVICE: Absolutely horrible. No notion of customer service. The wait time was ridiculously long. The servers had the look of death on their faces. I mean I can understand that there may have been a language barrier (our initial server was Russian and she didn't speak anything but that) but smiling is universal. When asking for hot sauce feels like charades there's a problem. FOOD: Disgusting is an understatement. I'm convinced we were served dog meat. Need I say more? read more

I was thoroughly impressed by the immediate greeting we received upon arriving. We were seated immediately. The ambience of the place was comfortable, as well as the seats. The high ceilings and color scheme gave a relaxing feeling. The food came out in a timely manner, but not too fast so that way I knew it was made fresh to order. The portions were good, especially the side of humus I took to go. WHAT A DEAL! Our waitress was only a push of a button away anytime we needed her (literally each table has a device to press when you need something). I would recommend anybody looking for some good kabob or lula to stop by and give this place a try! read more

This place definitely deserves more stars than it currently has. The place is new and still needs some adjustments here and there, however, the food is good, presentation is great, and waitresses are really nice and polite. I have to mention Maral who serves our long table who was very sweet and helpful. Prices are very reasonable for the area. We will be back. read more

I don't recommend this place unless you have no other choice! The food was good; I've had better savory food but the service was horrible. Our waitress didn't offer us drinks to begin with; we had to ask for water before our order was taken. Once our order arrived...she never came back to our table to follow up. No one ever stopped by to ask us if we needed anything else, nor were we ever offered actual drinks! To say the least no one else ever came back to give us the check. We had to ask for the check...our card was taken to get charged by another server but they never brought it back until we asked a different server for our receipt! Poor customer service!! read more

I got the chicken drumettes plate and my cousin got the kapachurri (unsure spelling). Although it took a bit for our order to be made and it wasn't busy. I originally wanted the Chicken Shwarma but it wasn't available any more. The server was excellent. Bring your family and friends to enjoy a clean meal. They have Armenian wine, and for those that don't Armenian wine has been around for 6,000+ years. It's our little kept secret. read more

I highly reccomend to visit this place. I did not expect such a large selection of Armenian food and in addition to Armenian cuisine, their menu offers sandwiches, pizza and Russian pirozhki. Tasty cuisine, friendly stuff and very cozy restaurant. They really try to stand above the rest. Excellent place to have lunch, hang out with family and friends. So i went this place November 11th, and i can definitely say that this was one of the best experiences EVER. The food was nice and warm (i ordered Spas and Chicken Ciabatta), it came out fast, thanks my man Stas for his professionalism. BUT. My server. Her name was Karine and even tho i saw she was busy she was always checking on me and asking how is everything going. She has great personality and she cares about customers more then one should. Every word she says was nothing but perfect, always on point. Overall, great experience and thanks my server, she deserves recognition. Sorry guys i disagree with bad reviews about dry meet and saltiness. I have a lunch with friend in Karas restaurant today . Service is great, food is delicious, price is worthy for the quality, the overall atmosphere is excellent. Highly recommend 10 stars read more

The only thing I would've loved is a side of raw onions, but that's purely personal preference. What really says it all is that the entire meal was eaten mostly in silence and not a single picture was taken, which is completely out of character for me as a foodie. "Camera eats first" absolutely does not apply at this restaurant. The establishment is run by a lovely couple in the kitchen along with one server. Because of that confusion, I ended up leaving an additional cash tip. I understand restaurants may add gratuity automatically for larger groups, but if gratuity is already included, the receipt and staff should make that clear instead of circling "tips not included." It creates unnecessary confusion for customers. Also, automatically adding gratuity regardless of service feels questionable. Thankfully our server was kind, but if service had been poor, customers should still feel they have a choice regarding tipping.

Our fav dish was the chimeruli which is baked hen drenched in a garlicky cream sauce that was more of a soup to me and i could not stop drinking it down! The hen was roasted so nicely with crispy skin, and along with the sauce just made the whole dish so hearty. Things are on the pricier side but I would still definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who's adventurous in trying different cuisines. About Karas USA The restaurant is located in the heart of Glendale - 158 S. Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA 91204. The total area of the restaurant is 400 sqm. It has a wide hall, that hosts around 140 customers, 130 meals included in the menu, a summer café where the customers are able to enjoy some wine, and a big mangal on which tasty barbecues is prepared on the charcoal. Besides the restaurant has its own delivery service. We offer our customers cuisine with traditions. Our goal is to maintain the Armenian taste and aroma, blending it with the American lifestyle, at the same time. History of Karas brand KARAS was founded in 2005 in Armenia. Currently Karas is one of the biggest food chains operating in Armenia. It has 13 service points in capital Yerevan and 2 service points in resort cities of Armenia. Chronology In 2008 the company was one of the firsts to put in use its own delivery service, which currently occupies one of the leading positions in the Armenian market. In May, 14, 2013 KARAS carried out rebranding by changing its target market segment. The rebranding campaign had its influence on the visual image and the functioning of the company. It was an ambitious decision for upcoming business purposes and goals, as well as to be ready to satisfy the current service demands. Company top management realized that there was not only about the signboards to be replaced, but a complex of changes that should be done to implement the new business role for a customer oriented service. This adviser has become a highly successful, self-motivated, hardworking senior Retail Manager Steve Winham, who worked at Burger King - global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, as well as major European supermarket chains. I recently dined at Karas Dine-In for my birthday, and I must say, it was a wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming and casual, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends. We started with the Lahmajoun as an appetizer, which was absolutely delicious--crispy, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. For our main dishes, we shared the Zharkoe with pork, a hearty and tasty dish that we all enjoyed. We also opted for the Family Combo #1, which could easily feed 4-6 people. The combo featured an array of beautifully grilled meats, including BBQ pork ribs, lamb chops, beef BBQ, chicken BBQ, chicken, and beef lula. Each cut of meat was packed with flavor, but the BBQ pork ribs were my favorite. The combo also came with fire-roasted peppers, potatoes, rice, hummus, ajika, and a side salad, making it a feast for the senses. To top off the evening, I was surprised with a complimentary crème brûlée for dessert, which was rich and creamy. The staff even sang happy birthday to me, adding a personal touch to the celebration. Let me say this first I'm not anyone's cousin nor know anyone who works here. I went there with my family to try their food. I ordered Beef Kebab plate and I absolutely LOVED IT! I'm a meat lover so I'm very picky about the way they cook it. Special thanx to whoever made the meat for beef kebab and whoever cooked it. We ordered potatoes with mushrooms, it was very delicious . And we got Shaurma which was okay. My daughter loves mushrooms so she said she loved the mushrooms with potatoes . We were full and ready to leave then I saw their chef making Ajarskiy Khachapuri it looked so good even tho we were full we ordered two Ajarskiy. It was THE BOMB !!! I'm not even kidding I was blowing up but I finished one Ajarskiy Khachapuri and took the other one to go. Please please say special thanx to the guy who made the Ajarski!!!!! The spot was nice and clean, I saw some reviews people complaining about the wait. It took 6 min to get my food which was perfectly fine with me. By the time I washed my hands end enjoyed the beautiful Americana view my food was ready. People must understand if it's fresh it takes time to cook !!! Yesterday, I visited first time Karas in USA place and was thoroughly impressed. From the first moments, we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming waiter named Baglan, who made our evening even more enjoyable. He was very attentive to details, considered all our wishes, and helped us decide on the choice of dishes. I went today restaurant "Karas" and was absolutely delighted with the borscht they serve. From the first spoonful, I experienced a rich and full flavor that immediately reminded me of homemade meals. The broth was perfectly prepared, combining a slight tanginess with the rich aroma of fresh vegetables. The meat in the borscht was tender and juicy, and the vegetables were fresh and crunchy, adding a special texture and aroma to the dish. I recently visited a great barbecue place Karas and I loved it! The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, perfect for meeting friends or having a family dinner. The menu offered a variety of dishes, but the main star was, of course, the barbecue. I especially want to mention our waiter, Baglan. He was very attentive and friendly. Baglan explained each dish in detail and helped us choose the perfect combination for our dinner. He was also quick to respond to all our requests and was always ready to help. The barbecue was simply delightful--juicy, with the right amount of spices, and perfectly cooked. We tried several different types of meat, and each was excellent. I went to Karas tonight for the first time with my parents, I was AMAZED! The food is DELICIOUS, and their service is EVEN better! Victoria was our waitress and I must say it's been a LONG time since I've went to a restaurant and had such great customer service. She greeted us with a smile, took her time explaining and answering our questions, and just had such great energy overall. I ordered the cream with mushroom soup and the ciabatta chicken sandwich (both in which she recommended). Let's just say I couldn't stop eating! It's extremely convenient and a big plus that they have so much variety on their menu, it accommodates anyone and everyone's food preference. You are MISSING OUT if you don't try this place. We just happened to walk by this restaurant and I feel very lucky that we did! Our waiter was awesome. They also have nice outdoor seating with heated lamps. The food was excellent!! Have fun and order more food than you think you should and enjoy leftovers the next day. I highly recommend the Greek salad or summer salad and the Margherita pizza! All the tables near us ordered those two items! It's Armenian so I also recommend some other bread items like the kachapuri or the Lahmajoun. I also saw a lot of people eating soup but we didn't try it but we will next time. Lastly, get the barbecue. To clarify, it's grilled meat. Not American style barbecue sauce type of meat. The chicken with rice was delicious and seemed healthy. It was excellent with an Armenian beer. read more

Whyyyyyyyyyyy does this place have the absolute WORST SERVICE! They will not answer your phone calls, they will look at you when your sitting waiting to order, and then god forbid you get there about two hours before they close they will tell you "you might not have enough time to order and eat, we're very strict on time..." This place acts like they don't want any business. Ambiance is depressing and uncomfortable. Food is adequate at best but you have much better options literally within 200 feet than includes great service food and ambiance. I've tried coming here several times for convenience purposes since i live across the street but at this point im beyond fed up!! I gave it like 15 tries and i swear it got worse every single time!!! read more

Ok so let me break down my rating into the following main segments: 5 for location and parking 5 for ambience feel and interior design which includes high ceiling and well lit space, good music, TV displays food channel which is at least tolerable when you eat. 5 for waiters and communication. Nice people, well behaved and helpful. 5. for being neat and clean. 4. Time it took to bring the food on the table. 3. For the borsch which was tasty but cold. 2. For main dish "Jarkoie" which was seriously hard to eat although I was really hungry as both pork and pepperoni felt stiff and dry. 5. The location and the set up is great. The menu is filled with many choices of great food. I have only used their delivery, I never ate at the location and the delivery was very prompt. Some of their food tastes amazing and some don't and they seem to change every time I order so they are trying to improve all the time which is great. Some little things should be improved if they want to keep the doors open, I received my order and the pizza was over cooked, I mean way too much, it was burnt, I mean they must have seen it when it came out of the over but they decided to deliver it anyways without hesitation. I will still give them 5 start because they are new and still working on improving. read more

I can't say enough good things about our experience here! Our server, Karine, was absolutely amazing. She was so sweet, patient, and attentive, taking the time to walk us through the menu and recommend some fantastic dishes to try despite being so busy! Thanks to her, we discovered the khurjin, and let me tell you, it was the BEST thing ever! It was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and completely unforgettable! We ordered bbq and arugula salad. The order was delivered in 40 minuets as I was informed when I placed my order. I would have worried if they had brought sooner than that because it would have meant that they are serving pre cooked food and they just warm it up before serving. BBQ was really tasty because they cooked it on coal. And also, it was well seasoned. I have tried arugula salad in many places; however, this one was the best I've had. It was made with arugula, pear, walnut, and they put feta cheese on top. The salad dressing was slightly sweet and tasted good with the other ingredients. And the prices are reasonable. This was hands down the best Adjarian khachapuri I've ever had. That cheese pull?? Insane The dolma was super juicy and paired perfectly with yogurt - absolutely hit the spot. The plov with beef was also delicious, and the fish was not dry at all - really well balanced flavors. And the lemonade... wow. It's honestly hard to find such a good lemonade in the U.S., but this one was excellent. Special shoutout to our server Michael-top-level service. He constantly checked in to make sure everything was great and refilled the hot water in our teapot like five times without us even asking That's real hospitality. 10/10, will definitely be back. read more

The Family Combo #1 fed our group of five perfectly: beef lula, chicken lula, beef BBQ, pork ribs, fire-roasted peppers, potatoes, and rice.
