I cannot think of enough superlatives to describe my experience! I'm going to start with the wait staff and servers. They were so respectful, kind and helpful with recommendations and patient to explain. The decor was exotic with several large planters in the middle of the dining area. The window treatments had ethnic designs luminated with stringed lighting. One thing that stood out that seemed a bit out of place was a large screen by the front door advertising a Fit & Fight gym endorsed by Khabib Nurmagonedov. The fairly prominent screen only showed advertisements for the gym. The food was AMAZING. Deep, robust flavors. The juices of the meat seeped into the rice and vegetables. The assorted festive skewers that had many different types of meat were hearty and plentiful. The spices were deliciously aromatic. It was a very hearty meal. The teas came out in beautiful carafes over a tea light candle. We tried the Peach (sweet, slightly floral, tangy) and Tashkent Teas (blend of black & green tea with citrus rinds ). Such strong, smooth, bold, sweet, intense flavors. Absolutely exquisite. I highly recommend and can't wait to bring friends with us for our next visit!

We went for lunch on a Friday and we were seated immediately. The customers were coming and going steadily and the environment was quiet enough to hold a conversation easily. This was our first time dining at this restaurant and felt welcomed. Our server, Islam Z, was very pleasant and helpful with explaining menu items. He kindly offered suggestions for our food selection and enjoyed all the items that we ordered. The top dish was the eggplant salad, although all the dishes were deliciously prepared. We are planning to return in the near future to try some of the other menu items.

I cannot say how much I loved everything I ate. The mangy dumplings were so filling! But really the show stopper was their freshly made tea. The price is worth it- spiced well and it was so delicious. I would've been a happy camper if I just had the tea.

Having been to Karavan twice now, once four months ago and one earlier this year, I'm happy to say that both experiences warrant a 5 star review. First, the service is stellar and the staff is very patient and willing to answer any questions you have about the food. This was quite important because while there are English descriptions, this type of central Asian cuisine wasn't one that I've had much experience in. Their "nan" for example, literally means bread and isn't the same flatbread type "naan" as from Indian restaurants. Food/drink: Classic variety kattama - similar to Chinese green onion flaky pastries Alat Samsy Beef - basically a samosa Alat Samsy Chicken Cheese - basically a samosa Tom Yum soup - reminds me of bun bo hue broth from Vietnamese pho restaurants Eggplant salad (highly recommend) Boorsok - simple fried bread but somehow so addicting Boso Lagman - stir fried noodles with meat and veggies Nan - basically just bread Lamp Chops Shashlik Berry Chai (highly recommend) Mango Lemonade Honey Cake From a drink perspective, I absolutely love the berry chai tea. It has a subtle sweetness to it (I think from the honey) without being overwhelming and leaves you feeling refreshed. On top of that, while it looks a bit pricey on the menu, they give you a sizable pitcher and you can get more hot water as a refill. They were nice enough to even add more honey later on to maintain that level of subtle sweetness. I also ended up ordering their mango lemonade, which while a bit more standard to what you'd expect, is also very solid. From a food perspective, I enjoyed every dish and there wasn't anything I didn't like. The standout though has to be the eggplant salad. It's a standout not because I like eggplant...I actually really don't like eggplant, yet the way they made this dish, I couldn't stop eating it. Everything else was also very enjoyable and I don't have reservations about ordering any of these dishes again. The only thing is that their nan is basically just bread (which the servers would tell you the same thing). That's the only thing I probably wouldn't order again since your calories are better spent on the rest of their delicious food.

Rice was greasy but ok the only problem was very salty I think we have to low lower on salt and let the dish to show there power of flavor

Was nice actually my first day was ok ....... No a big deal ... it was OK not a big deal as mentioned food was a little bit greasy other than that they offer a Wi-Fi that doesn't work, but for the rest I think is kind of gentle The only problem is the food is really greasy.

    Manty, plov and eggplant salad
    Adinai S.

The manty were good and juicy. The plov wasn't really my favorite, but that might be because I'm not a big fan of lamb, so it was just okay for me. The eggplant salad was alright, but a bit on the sweet side. They did bring a complimentary salad, which was a nice touch. Overall, not my favorite place, but it was okay.

Food was fantastic I ate it all even though it could have been shared but I went alone for lunch on an empty stomach. My waiter was very attentive and gave excellent recommendations... will be coming back for my birthday next week !

We were in the area and decided to try Karavan instead of the usual (A Thousand Tales, Grand Istanbul, etc.). The parking lot was packed, but thankfully we found a spot near the trash bins. Inside felt warm and cozy; the decor and tables were nice. The plates, glasses, and silverware in leather pouches were also nice. Service was friendly; our server's name was Askot (sp?). We ordered the Gulchatai Shorpo soup, manty (dumplings), and lamb skewer w/ wok-fried veggies on the side. The soup kind of looked plain, but the broth was full of flavor; there was a reasonable amount of meat in there. The manty was pretty good. The lamb kabobs were tasty, although in hindsight we should have requested medium-rare instead of medium-well. The wok-fried veggies were superb. Pricing was a little high, but on par with other Uzbek restaurants we've been to like Milliy, Chinor, and Anjir. Karavan is definitely a nice addition to the slew of Uzbek restaurants in the Chicagoland area.

    Strawberry matcha and Classic Lemonade
    Abby M.

WOW! Truly a five star experience. My husband got the classic lemonade and I got a matcha latte with strawberry (not on the menu) which were both amazing and fresh. For food, we got the nomad combo 1, manty, and smoked beef wrap. I forgot to take pictures but they were all so delicious! The meats were our favorite which were tender and flavorful. Our server was kind and attentive. The restaurant had multiple patrons but wasn't too loud. We can't wait to come back again!

Delicious food and beautiful interior! We're pretty unfamiliar with Kyrgyz cuisine, so we weren't sure what to expect. We tried the Pelmeni soup, Assorted Manty, and Lamb Plov. Everything tasted phenomenal!! The lamb was tender and flavorful, and the Plov itself was rich with flavor and seasoned to perfection. The Pelmeni soup was comforting and warm, and the Manty were delicious and so exciting to try!! We really loved our experience here, highly recommend!!

    Nice touch of decor

Cozy space with nice decor, interesting menu though sort of limited, service is attentive and kind

They decorated it with hanging plants, some art, a fish tank. A slight haze of smoke. Desserts on display. I'd say the finest work of art here are the prepped skewers, waiting to be thrown on their charcoal grill. My gaze was fixed on the meat display as if I was Cookie Monster at Crumbl. I composed myself and took a seat. They have great hot and cold appetizers. They have breakfast! Check out their menu, I've included a pic. Lahmacun is a crunchy brick oven flatbread with ground meat. It feels so light, airy, and crunchy, you could eat the whole thing and later say "..um, I ate the whole thing". We ordered a few King Chef's mixed grill platters. It is a medley of filet morsels, chicken, lamb chops, shawarma, shish kebab, and many other things, along with bulgar and fries. Why are their fries so good? Okay, so I know we're just talking about lemonade, but their house made lemonade is so good. We also loved their tea. We went way overboard on desserts. We just kept pointing at sharable items like John Travolta to the Bee Gees. All of the desserts were delicious. For some reason, the simplest of them, rice pudding, won the dessert battle that day. They have plenty of intriguing items that will lure me back, and I'm looking forward to it!

After waiting more than 1.5 hours, I called to check the status and found out that my order had not even been prepared. I don't know who I spoke with on the phone, but instead of helping resolve the issue, I was told that I could simply cancel my order. What frustrated me most was the explanation I received: "Sorry, this app doesn't work well." The representative showed little interest in solving the problem. Apparently, the app worked perfectly when it charged my credit card, but when it came to processing and delivering my order, suddenly the app was the issue. Delays can happen, but customers should be informed instead of being left waiting with no updates. I still didn't receive my order after two hours. The customer service was awful, and the lack of communication made the situation even more frustrating. This used to be one of my favorite places, but unfortunately, the quality of service seems to be getting worse.

The interior is big enough, but it was packed when we went even though it was 3 PM. The overall design and decor were really nice. I would describe the restaurant as something in between fast casual and nice sit-down. We ordered a Seoul flame bowl w/ chicken, creamy steak bucatini, and iced latte w/ tiramisu, and a small cappuccino. The Seoul flame bowl was excellent. The rice was cooked nicely, there were some veggies, and a lot of egg. It was somewhat sparse on chicken, but there was enough protein thanks to the egg. The menu had a spice symbol, but it wasn't spicy. My wife enjoyed the stead bucatini, but said it could have used more parmesan. The steak was cooked nicely and was tender and tasty. The pesto was a nice touch. She also enjoyed the iced latte and found that it wasn't overly sweet. The cappuccino was great and they did a nice job with the foam and art. Service was decent. Pricing for the food dishes was on the higher side ($19 for the bowl and $33 for the steak), but the coffee was priced reasonably.
