Karizma is another hookah lounge that I just discovered. My friend bought us here last night. Right away I could hear great music playing and I knew it would be a vibe. We were seated on the second floor which offered a great view of the layout of the place. Karizma is dimly lit and the lounge seats and tables are cozy. We ordered a hookah with a juice infused base, pineapple top and really fun name. The attendants kept the coals burning. Tequila shots, great hookah and an incredible music mix of Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Dancehall and R&B made for a great night out. Cute spot for a date night or a night out with friends. We went for my friend's birthday back in January, you know, celebrating Aquarius season the right way. And listen, we did celebrate... but this place? Mixed feelings for sure. There's plenty of seating, and we were upstairs, which was cool. The bar is downstairs, and I actually liked that the women's bathroom is downstairs and more spacious--because let's be real, we need room for our pictures, okay? Now... let's get into the service, because baby... that's where things went left. From the moment I got there (and my friends had already been there 30 minutes to an hour before me), things were already off. They had ordered wings... and still hadn't gotten them. That alone was a red flag. Our waitress? Not great. At all. * She had an attitude * She wasn't attentive * She seemed confused half the time * She mixed up drink orders and gave them to other tables (???) * Then tried to switch them back and it still wasn't right It was just... chaotic. We ordered more food later thinking maybe it would come out--it never came. Like, hours went by. Nothing. At that point, what are we even doing?? And the craziest part? We brought a birthday cake. Told her to bring it out at the right moment... she never did. We literally left and then realized like--wait... where's the cake?? Someone had to go back and get it. That's wild. Now, I will give credit where it's due: * The hookah? The ice hookah was really good, flavors were on point. No complaints there. * The drinks? They were okay. Nothing crazy, but not bad. So overall... If you're going for: * Hookah * A chill vibe You'll be fine. But if you're going for: * Good service * Reliable food Yeah... don't count on it. My advice? I love hookah lounges and usually go out in Astoria, but I wanted to impress some friends, so we decided to try Karizma Lounge since the ambiance looked beautiful and the vibe seemed upscale and relaxed. I made reservations ahead of time and was really looking forward to the experience. As soon as we walked in, I noticed the "B" health rating, which gave me pause--but I chose to overlook it because the place still looked nice and the music was good. Unfortunately, that was the last positive part of the night. We were immediately stopped at the door by a very rude bouncer. He looked to the hostess, who bluntly told us there was no space available--despite there being plenty of empty tables, including upstairs. I explained that we had a reservation and showed confirmation. She rolled her eyes, told us to "hold on," and walked away. At that point, I already felt unwelcome and considered leaving--but I gave it a chance. Eventually, she came back and seated us upstairs... where there were clearly many empty tables. My group and I looked at each other confused. We then sat there for quite a while without any acknowledgment or service. No greeting, no water--nothing. A waiter finally came to take an order but didn't even ask about hookah. We had to flag someone else down just to get basic service. It only got worse. Later, the waiter apologized and asked if we could move to a much smaller table next to a large party. Meanwhile, the hostess had just seated two people at a much larger table nearby. We were a group of three and were being asked to squeeze into a tight, uncomfortable space. When I questioned it, he just kept apologizing and offered to buy us a round of drinks. At that point, I was completely over it. From the moment we walked in, it was nothing but issues. I told him this wasn't acceptable--we were excited to be there, and instead we were treated poorly the entire time. There were multiple open tables, yet we were being inconvenienced for no reason. We decided to leave. On the way out, another group was having the same issue at the door, and I told them honestly--they should spend their money elsewhere. I work in the hospitality industry, and I have never experienced such poor treatment. From the rude welcome to the lack of service and disorganization, it was unacceptable--especially for a place already holding a "B" rating. The attitude at the door sets the tone, and in this case, it ruined the entire experience. This place has potential, but it seriously needs better management, better staff, and a complete reset in how they treat guests. Until then, I would not recommend coming here read more

I ordered a branzino .. it DID NOT come descaled I asked to speak to the manager Abdul & once he came &I experienced my concern he told me "I am supposed to ask for it to be descaled" & "what would you want me to do about it". Wow what customer service. I nearly choked while eating and after every bite I had to spit scales out, Never in my years of dining, fine dining or buying food at a fish market have I had to ask first for it to be descaled or specify that. According to culinary standard and New York City health codes, all fish served to a customer should already be descaled, gutted, and cleaned before it is cooked so I do not understand why corners are being cut? Especially for $50?! I SHOULD NOT have to specify my fish being descaled who wants to empty their mouth of scales after each bite ? First & last time here read more

The vibe on a Saturday night (the evening I came in, after 10pm) was playing 90''s / 2000's music (Hip-hop/R&B/Dance Hall/ Reggaeton), played at volume you can vibe to and still have a convo with your "peeps". I sat solo at the bar and was served quickly. I ordered the "BMW" hookah combo which came with a mango base, a pineapple "core" and ice hose...I was so happy to come into a hookah place in NYC with an ice hose! I stopped at Karizma while in town on vacation and let me just say 10/10 experience. They are incredibly inexpensive especially for NYC. I decided to sit up stairs being that I was alone. I had a comfortable spot back by the men's rest rooms in the corner. Hookah starting at $30 bucks and lasted me 3 hours without a refill. They constantly checked on me, and putting new coals on the hookah without being asked. I tried the pina-colada & Shirly temple mocktails. Which were really good and of course aesthetically pleasing. Different music playing all night, from Drake to Future, to Moroccan. So, I loved the diversity of the place. If I was a local this would be my spot to stop in and indulge all the time. I said it before, I'll say it again! Will be back! Rine was timely, helpful, and overall very pleasant!

I wish i could rate this place with zero stars. First off we had a reservation on Saturday night which the location confirmed. When we arrived they made us wait 20 minutes outside stating " they are over booked". The security outside had a bad attitude and was unwelcoming. After waiting 20 minutes after our reservation time in the cold weather outside they took us inside to a small little table in a corner by the stairs and not an actual table. The told us the seating was temporary until they could get us a table. When we asked management if we were going to be moved to an actual table they had attitude again and stated " there are larger parties who need to be seated first" this was very unprofessional and rude. The good times did no stop there, the waitress informed up there is a one drink minimum per person to be able to sit at a table which was not disclosed to us beforehand and anywhere on the website. After about an hour of still sitting in a small table in the corner the waitress came up to us and asked us if we would like the cash out the bill because there is a "90 minute max" for each table. This was never mentioned to us before as well which is very rude again. The hookah was disgusting and service was very bad. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more
