I came on a Thursday evening with no reservations. We were seated very quickly and were told that there was a two drink minimum per person. Our first waitress was so nice but I forgot her name. I am lukewarm about this place. Arrived early, while it was empty, but that quickly changed. Was given a seat and I felt rushed because they kept asking if we were ready and interrupting. Collectively, we ordered hummus, Greek salad, roasted potatoes, sautéed spinach, and a few lentil soups, cheesecake for dessert and sangrias. The lentil soup was good but there weren't any beans in sight and seemingly had noodles in it. The spinach was okay, but the roasted potatoes were great. After the service picked up, in terms of parents, it became much more difficult to get any service. Finally, we ordered Chesapeake, which was okay, also. The problem was the bill. I paid the bill and selected no tip because I was providing it in cash. I'm positive I selected no tip. However, as I went back to lock my exit card beside they do it accept Apple Pay, I notice the charge, along with gratuity was charged. I ask the employee to return and she said she would look into it with her boss, seemingly. She told me I did in fact select a tip, although I know I didn't. I would like to give a 3.5 star rating but unfortunately cannot on Yelp. We ordered three apps and all were very tasty. We enjoyed their trio of dips, burrata lentil salad, & Pergola sliders. They are purposefully misleading customers by claiming a "Wild Salmon" dish that is actually farmed salmon. I called to verify after suspecting and they indeed confirmed that the salmon is farmed, not wild. Unbelievable, especially since I've ordered this dish so many times. My friend group and I probably go to Pergola about five or six times a year and we always have an amazing time until this past weekend. We had a table reservation and showed up about ten minutes early so we went to the bar. When it was time for our reservation our table still was not ready. Once we were finally seated they put us in an area for six. There were seven of us present and the reservation was originally made for eight so appropriate seating should have been available. We had to wait for the table next to us to be done so we could get our fourth table. As the night went on a party next to us with about five or six people kept moving into our section and sitting in our seats. Management responded by asking them if they were ok and then asking us to hand over some of our seating to them. At this point someone from their party was already sitting on our side of the table and on the opposite end two of my friends were sharing one small stool. We asked multiple times for proper seating for our full party and it was not provided and when it finally was the approach was combative. I would like to thank our server because she was a gem. She made sure our food came out quickly and she double checked our order since we were a big group. She continued to check on us throughout the night to make sure everything was great. Most of the problems we experienced this weekend came from management. Their lack of organization and their blatant disrespect toward our group were the main issues. The food and music were amazing as usual. The drinks and hookah were great and the food came out quickly. This was part of my birthday celebration and I left feeling disappointed and unwanted. Had dinner at pergola for the first time this week. The reservations were easy to find (same day) and i was seated right away. The restaurant and vibe are really cool. The food was actually really good, i was surprised by it actually and the service was good. Only two things i wish were different were the hookah can be ordered from any tables so can be a problem if you mind the smoke, coals or the smell. Food prices are reasonable for this area of Manhattan. Everything we ate was tasty. I'd return to sample more menu items. $15 hummus with ground beef and pita was standard and satisfying. $28 grilled salmon with sauteed lentils was tasty and hearty. On my last trip to New York, I visited Pergola twice: once for dinner and hookah, the second time for drinks, hookah and music. We stayed for the maximum duration of our reservation when we had dinner, which was right before 'party time' when the music starts. It was a great atmosphere and most of the food was awesome. We had a couple plates that were mediocre, but the goat cheese poppers *chefs kiss* Drinks were also okay - some of the cocktails were premade so you couldn't modify or ask for less sweet, etc. When I switched to just bourbon it was fine, no issues. The second night I had a different cocktail and it was perfect. Music was BUMPING and everyone was having a great time. My friend and I danced some but also enjoyed the people watching and our usual hookah. Winter berries, all day! Wow I'm honestly shocked the Yelp review is so low. I had a wonderful experience here tonight! When my friend recommended it I had never heard of it but it's near my job so I was down to try something new. Our waitress had a wonderful vibe. She was approachable but cool. Able to answer all our questions and not urge us to order the most expensive items or more than we needed. I got there @6:58PM and they still allowed me to order off the happy hour menu. I've been to plenty of exclusive, upscale places in the city (as my reviews show), and I've never encountered this level of rudeness. The crab cake has some spices that didn't belong. The wings were paired with a sauce that def didn't pair well. The hummus was... ok. The only real star was the short rib sliders. That was excellent! Don't get me wrong everything was edible... but if you are expecting to be wowed in the slightest you can forget it. Not the Entrees... we had the Branzino, the seafood linguine pasta and the lemon chicken. N the Branzino was... MID! It was good... cuz Branzino is a great fish. But the potatoes and the sauce it was paired with just didn't work. It's a very light n flavorful fish. So this thick sauce they dunked the potatoes in just didn't work. The linguine tasted like spaghetti Os. It was mid. A tiny piece of lobster u have to dig around to find. It again... was just MID. The chicken was the best dish. But it's chicken! So u don't really get points for being able to cook chicken. Drinks were good. Hookah decent. N that's it. Overall. A generous 3 stars. $750 for 4 people and absolutely average food is just a crime. Saturday with the Girls! Pergola was our first stop on a Saturday Funday for my girls and I. Reservations are easily made via Resy. They do have a dress code which is listed on their website. Upon arrival your ID is checked outside by security. Once inside you'll check in with the hostess and she'll escort you to your table. We were seated upstairs right by the balcony. The seating was extremely low.... It wasn't an actual chair more of a very low ottoman. If you're taller than 5'7 it's uncomfortable. Lighting is very dim and it was slightly hot. Before the alcohol kicked in and convo started flowing I was physically uncomfortable. As appetizers we went with pergola wings and tzatziki. These were both full of flavor and perfectly portioned for appetizers. As my cocktail I had a Pineapple Express. If I'm going to have a mixed drink I prefer it to be tequila based. This drink was very good! I actually decided to stay with that cocktail for the night and didn't order anything else. It's that good! As my entree I went with Lamb Chops also full of flavor but I wish the portion was bigger. Service was slow. We asked our waitress several times for additional pita bread, napkins, adjustments to our hookah. All requests were met with an extended wait time. About the hookah.... We went with watermelon mint. At first it wasn't pulling so that had to be adjusted. Once that was fixed the pull was way to harsh. This took a few adjustment before it was ok. Pergola was an average experience.
