I went today to check up on the vehicles at Karplus in Pacoima on 10103 San Fernando Rd., and my Goodness I came home with a vehicle. Not a suprise, one would say! But, I got great vehicle, fantastic precentige 5.5 (they actually performed a miracle, because my bank quoted me with 13.99 because of my not so good credit at the moment, but they managed to give it to me for 5.5) Amazing! The space where you negotiate and make the final deal is charming, because of the all happy and extremely friendly, comfortable environment. I bought a vehicle from them around ten years ago, and just wanted to go back and buy another one, because of such a great experience in the past. The vehicle I bought a long time is payed off and it looks and performs fantastic. Chrysler/Sebreng , I find on my gorgeous vehicle the little notes constantly - people would like to buy it from me....NO way, a love my vehicle. I just want to thank the greatest salesperson in the world - Eli Landaverde, what a job (he knew what I wanted because we chatted earlier in the week; therefore he waited for me with the perfect vehicle.) We did not end up purchasing a car there, however if the right car had been there I would gladly have given them my business. I had a very good experience at Karplus in Pacoima. I purchased a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX that I saw advertised in their website. I contacted the sales department and they were very helpful, timely and friendly. The dealership was very easy to get to and parking was plentiful as well. They had many cars of every make, type and price range to look at. I got a very reasonable and fair price on the car and Orlando in the finance dept was fast and efficient getting me in and out quickly. They also gave me the Car Fax report to keep so I could check on the service history of the vehicle which I appreciated. All in all it was a very good experience and this place is worth a look. The only reason I'm giving this place 1 star is b/c they let us walk away from our deal with minimal hassle. Everything was fine up until we came in to sign the papers to take home our car. At the very end, the salesperson presented us with a piece of paper that read, in huge red letters "STRUCTURAL DAMAGE." It was explained to us that they 'have to' put this disclaimer on every car they buy from an auction even if it has only minor scratches / dents. Sorry - this is NOT the same as a car that may have it's frame compromised. They couldn't say for sure if the car was in an accident or not and they were a bit pushy for us to 'just take the car home.' It just didn't feel right and we were not about to purchase a car that couldn't be verified as safe for us. This is the first time I ever had to go out of my way to negatively review something, but after dealing with Karplus one final time today, and the way we were treated, I owe anybody in the market for a car my story. Let's start from the beginning, I have purchased 4 cars from Karplus over the last 5 years, because I work in TV, my demand and need changes sporadically for what fits my needs when it comes to a car, with that said, I would purchase a car and trade it back into Karplus 4 or 5 months later at a tremendous loss, which I have always been fine with as that's price you pay when you drive off the lot. i do not hold Karplus responsible in any way shape or form for that whatsoever. Each time I would trade in a car I would roughly be deducted about 5,000 to 7,000 dollars less than what I would pay 3-5 months prior to originally purchasing the vehicle and then trading it back in. Over the course of 5 years and looking at my statements Karplus made over 27,000 dollars of of me, just in trade in deductions, the point is I've been a very lucrative customer for Karplus. My final purchase was for a 2004 Ford Truck in October 2015 at a price of $7980 , in which I went to dealership 4 times. The truck was reasonably priced but each time Orlando would refuse to finance me, regardless of what I offered to put down on the vehicle, after brining in a co signer with an 800 credit score we were still refused, until finally upon walking off the lot, the salesman stated that out of the kindness of Orlandos heart he would finance me with our cosigners, with certain stipulations. The first being that the truck would NOT be traded back in, the second was that once we walked out the door, there were no warranties whatsoever, again I was perfectly fine with this as the truck was only being used to haul my mothers trash to the dump less than 5 miles away. For the record the motor was bad, and a new motor was put in last month, I never contacted Karplus once regarding this, as this is a gamble you take when buying an as is vehicle. I brought a friend in last week with a 650 credit score and 3 years at the same job with a sizable down payment. After looking at several trucks and filling out paperwork and negotiating Orlando looked over his desk looked at us and said NO finance. Moving forward I contacted Karplus about 2 Caravans they had last week, as we needed something that would fit film equipment but enclosed and this seemed like a cheap altenernative. i contacted Karplus 4 times with the credit app and each time no response, until finally contacting Orlando directly, and was told that they would not finance me again, I stated that once again I had a string cosigner and Orlando said it didn't matter what the cosigners score was, no deal would happen. I received a call back from A sales rep 2 days later, that stated that if I came down he would make sure everything would be taken care of, in hindsight I should never taken the call but we needed something in a pinch, and perhaps Karpus realized their mistakes, I proceeded to the dealership and after waiting approx 25 minutes, we were given the keys to check out the van, we did nothing more that start it up and and said we would take it as is, the salesman came out and stated that no deal would happen, I requested he go in and ask Orlando why they were unwilling to facilitate the deal, and did explain that we have a huge fan base and that we have referred over 40 people to the dealership that have purchased cars, I was told from the salesman that he could not get a reason from Orlando and that "it was very strange to say the least", I asked if he could elaborate, me he restated that Orlando would not speak about it. We were advised from an unknown patron that being Caucasian seemed to be a factor in the way we were treated, which was offensive as we have friends from all walks of life. And over half of our friends that belong to American Legion. That we are strong supporters of are Hispanic. Unfortunately this is the first of many times I will have to let potential customers hear of our story. And I certainly hope that the information we were given is erroneous, but be it as it may, it seems more fact than fiction at this point considering the amount of money that Karplus has made off me. And the current political dissentions currently happening. I will not let the treatment I received cast a shadow on my many Hispanic friends as we are Chrsitians, but PLEASE PLEASE take heed to what my experience is above. b read more

At the end of Oct 2017 i decided to buy a used VW golf. I found Karplus on Car gurus website. i promised my sales rep(sorry i can remember his name) and AJ i would give them a review. They were easy to deal with,professional in every way, no pressure for anything and they had the paperwork done quickly. i was given the car fax and allowed ample time to check the car, they even put it on a ramp so i could check the car for any issues. I am a mechanic and i did notice the car had been in some accidents even though none were reported on car fax( keep that in mind) , it had a few hings that needed very minor and they gave me a due bill and i came back and they fixed those items,( they have a shop i think is there shop and they seemed to handle these issues well, Ailgnment,under car cover was replaced,they even provide me a rental for a few days while they got this stuff done.(note) be specific with the due bill( i was promised new rear tires) and they the shop were telling me they would be good used, i opted not to change them as they all matched. the price was non negotiable they said because it was a loss leader they said, it was priced fairly and the car was in good shape, so i bought it. I used there financing to buy the car, but i immediately refinanced with Logix at 1.49%, the dealer was about 5%, i have really good credit.There have been no issues with the car. Word to the wise, ask for them to give you a second keyfob and key, it cost me $275 dealer only option on this year so far. STAY AWAY!! This place has it all! Bait and switch-unsafe cars-charges for optional equipment-false mileage listed-different prices as advertised. My wife and I went there to purchase a SUV. The salesman on the phone was very polite. Once we got there some other salesman came over and said he would help. Of course one of the vehicle we mainly came to see was gone-15 minutes after we called to confirm it was still there. We looked at two other vehicles we were interested in. As I looked over the SUV and asked if was checked by a qualified mechanic ,I got the answer that it was safety checked. I checked the brake pads and asked if they were going to change them due to the fact there was less than 2% left or the frayed main serpertine belt. He said no. All cars are sold as is. I picked up the drivers floor mat and found a hole in the floor. It also made a loud squeeling sound inside when it was started.We walked away. The next suv (never been in an accident) Driver door was not the same color and did not line up. The door handle was from and different vehicle,brakes again were very low,Tire were not the ones for a large SUV. Some off brand tires. Then we heard about the glass etching and security system that had to be purchased with the vehicle-Wrong This needs to be on every Advertisement or included in the price. I've contacted the BBB as well as the Automotive Safety Bureau. They are selling unsafe cars and charging extra for items. STAY AWAY! We went to a Wholesaler in Van Nuys right after leaving -paid a little more but for a safer car with all brand new brand name tires.Brakes were about 50%. They also took care of all the minor dents we could find as well as ordered a new windshield due to a chip we found the day of inspection(which could have been repaired ) To make it better they threw in a lifetime power warranty for as long as we own the vehicle. I've called many times to ask about the delay but always get told the person responsible for dmv is "out to lunch". Finally able to get hold of someone and was told that they needed to take a picture of the vehicle. WTF! This is a licensed dealer and they did not do proper filing with dmv. Scheduled to come and take picture at my office since I refused to go there and waste my time. They missed the appointment time and never got back to me. What a joke! But man, was I disappointed when I saw the car in person. Plenty of issues they should have fixed before trying to sell the car. Clutch was about to completely go out, e.t.c. I had a good experience at Karplus Warehouse. I was looking for a specific truck that isn't made anymore and they happened to have one. It's a Ford Ranger with regular cab and a long bed. They had a 2010 with over 100,000 miles on it, but very tight and clean. I checked Carfax before going out there and it looked good. They gave me a decent price for my trade in and even bought back the camper shell that was on the truck, but not what I wanted. I wanted the cover that was on my old Ranger. They actually took the camper shell off and reinstalled my existing bed cover from my old Ranger that I drove in with. I had to make some adjustments to it at home, but no big deal. The heavy work was done. The salesman was friendly enough. If I have one complaint it is this. I bought an extended service warranty through them and have since read the reviews from the issuing third party company and they are not good. I'm deciding now whether to cancel the warranty from a company (Portfolio Protection) that has garnered so many bad reviews, including reviews listed on Rip Off Watch and the Consumer Protection Agency, which is the only reason I didn't give Karplus five stars. I'm new wondering why a company that has such decent reviews as Karplus Warehouse does would work with a company like Portfolio? Couldn't they do better? But all in all, the purchasing experience at Karplus was a good one. read more

Had an amazing day at Karplus. Im a college student and full time worker buying my first car, and they really made things work for me. Hands down, they outdid everyone to the point other salesman were amazed. I got a 2014 passat SEL for 13485! Lon the manager, Eli in sales, and Allen in finance were great! I should have never bought a car from Karplus. Even though I have treated the car I bought very well, it has had nothing but mechanical failures. In the roughly twelve month period after I bought it, I spent a huge amount of money on mechanical repairs (I still have the documents). I'm paying the 400 dollars a month car payment plus I have to pay for these mechanical malfunctions. It makes me curious about what type of vehicle inspections and quality control they perform before releasing their vehicles to the general public. Further, they offer a very expensive (approximately $5000) extended service (like a warranty) from a company called Portfolio Protection. The reviews for Portfolio are very bad. People talk about how when they make warranty claims, Portfolio makes it extremely difficult for people to have their repair claims honored. Some reviews said that even parts they were expecting to have paid for were not honored by Portfolio. It is hard to find anything positive about Karplus. read more

I had been dealing with Amir all week, I live about 60 miles away. I had made arrangements to see a specific vehicle. I text him in the morning , that I was on my way. I was assured the car was there and I would be able to see and drive it. However when I got there, the car was supposedly at an off site location.... so Amir took us to the location , still no car. He takes us back to the dealership and speaks with a few coworkers, and lets me know he doesn't know where this car is. He said he would send me pictures when they found it, I already saw pictures...that's why I was physically there to see it. All the time asking if we would like to see another car, or cars. They told me that they would work with you even if you did not have a strong credit history, only because I am in college and at this point of life I obviously did not have enough credit established. I drove 70 miles to see a car. Called multiple times to make sure the car was there. They kept telling me it was. I get there and the salesman knows who I am, because I had set up an appointment with him. I look around for the car and it isn't there. He tells me they sold it before I got there. I am not sure if it was between the first and second call, or the second and third call. So he tries to bait and switch me into something else. 4 hours and half of my gas wasted on these jokers. Yes, believe all the other reviews, these guys are scam artists. I'm two hours away in Ventura and found the car I've been looking for online and called them up. I spoke with someone named Yoshi on the phone. He appeared nice and I didn't want to waste time driving out there so I did their credit check online and filled out the forms. Yoshi called me back and told me I'm approved and everything looks good. All I need to do is come by, test drive the car, and fill out some paper work. I drove two hours, they didn't have the car (they told me that car didn't exist here after I spoke with Yoshi and he said he could see the car from his desk). Eventually I found another car that was even cheaper than the one I was looking at and then spoke with a salesman named Juan. We sat down and grabbed my credit report and all other info. He was very rude and told me I had to put down $4,000 (the car was $10k). When I spoke with Yoshi, he had told me I should be fine with $700. I tried talking to Juan to see if there's any other options but he could care less. He got up tossed my license on the table and walked away. He didn't care to apologize for the inconvenience or anything like that. Just walked away and disappeared. I waited for 10 minutes until I saw him just standing around looking at me as if he was waiting for me to leave. Extremely rude. I saw the bad reviews but didn't believe it because I wanted that car. Bad experience. Only a couple people seemed nice there. Don't trust this place. I drove two hours just to get my time wasted and people not caring or knowing what customer service is. I was in here Saturday evening, by the time we finished haggling over the price and shook in it, then did all the paperwork, they stayed late for me to finish it all. Then they helped me load my bike into the bed of my new truck. Unfortunately I came back Monday to return the truck, but the reason i am giving them a high review is how amazing they have been in working with me Saturday to find a middle price, coming down thousands of dollars for me, and especially today returning the truck and cancelling the contract.
