Not even 300 miles after purchasing the car, the timing belt snaps while I'm on my way to work, damaging valves, pumps and causing a whole lot of headache. I need a whole new engine now, which will cost just as much (if not more) as the vehicle itself! I can not describe how angry and disappointed I am with these dealers. My experience with KAS and Moe was awesome. As a first time car buyer, he made it easy and simple for me. I live about an hour and a half away, so I found a vehicle on their site, fell in love with it, and Moe took care of everything over the phone. Once I went down to take a look at it, we took it for a test drive and I did not feel pressured by him to take this vehicle. I am now enjoying my new-to-me Highlander and am so grateful for my smooth experience. I am taking one star away for cleanliness. Again, first time car purchase so I am not sure what the standard is for cleanliness. There was a lot of gunk in the "hard to reach" spots. However, no stars would have been taken away until I found mold growing in two back seat belts (third row seating). This appeared to be from the previous owners and not their doing, however, this means the mold has been sitting and growing for awhile. I was able to clean them up a bit with a towel, but I am anxious to see what else I can do to clean them up. Other than this one thing, I am in LOVE with my purchase at KAS! Edit: It has a been a couple months and have discovered a crack in my windshield, which I was told was repaired, was not repaired. I had to find this crack, as it was hidden behind a "Smog" sticker, and when I inquired I was told "it has been repaired." Upon going to the shop to repair a different crack caused by freeway, they let me know the crack was not filled and nothing had been done. KAS insists that it has been, and the Auto Glass professionals I had repair my windshield is not as trustworthy as "their guy." This is a small issue, however, it really makes me disappointed as I was flat out lied to after they hid this with a smog certified sticker. Just beware, as they have lived up to the shady car salesmen stigma. read more

I made the mistake of doing business here last week. I bought a blue 06 Subaru Forester for $5,000 out the door. The salesmen assured me that there were no issues with the car. It looked and drove fine... When buying, the salesman offered an option of returning the car within two days if I didn't like it. For this privilege, I had to pay $75 up front, and if I brought the car back I would have to pay an additional $175 "restocking" fee. It seemed like a reasonable insurance option, so I opted in. The next day I took the car to a reputable mechanic for a full inspection. At 133,000 miles one might expect some maintenance, but not like this. Here's what the mechanic found and recommended: - Left and right cylinder head gaskets leaking engine oil - Transmission cooler line leaking at radiator - Transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid very dark - Coolant looks like rust water - Inside edge of rear tires worn - Alignment needed - Front differential and rear differential fluid service due - Spark plugs (gap at .052 - spec is .039-.049) - Fuel system cleaning (throttle body coking buildup) - Struts, coolant hoses, and timing belt all original - past due For the head gasket repair alone, I was looking at at least $2,000. The mechanic informed me that the previous owner had done a thorough job of cleaning up the spilled oil, so as to hide the fact that the gaskets were leaking. He also said the car did not appear to have been properly maintained ever because many engine components were original and should have been replaced long ago. With the rest of the repairs I was looking at a few more grand, which effectively meant the car was a LEMON. And even if I wanted to try and salvage the car, some things such as the rust in the coolant system were irreparable. The mechanic gave me his condolences and suggested that I return the car as soon as possible. The following day, I returned the car. The salesmen acknowledged the issues and offered to have his mechanic have a look at it (presumably the same mechanic who had ignored and even attempted to conceal these very issues). I wanted nothing more to do with these people. In the end, I had paid $250 for nothing, not to mention the $100 car inspection, and the time and effort wasted driving an hour back and forth to the dealership three times. Worst of all I still don't have a car. If for some reason you still choose to go here after reading this review, just a warning: watch out for the blue 06 Subaru Forester. The salesman told me that they would repaint the car, raise the price, and put it back out on the lot for sale. If I could afford to, I would buy a new car, but I can't, so I buy used. When you're not a mechanic yourself, you have to rely somewhat on the integrity and the decency of the human being selling you the car. Ultimately, I have only myself to blame for getting ripped off. All the same though, I can't comprehend how these people live with themselves. read more

My husband and I went here to look at a 2008 Honda Odyssey a little over a week ago. We test drove it, and really liked it. But before we bought it we asked if we could take it in to be looked at by a mechanic (which we chose the Honda Dealership about a mile down Fulton Ave). The gentleman at Kas said "absolutely", so we made an appointment for the next day and then took it in for a pre-purchase inspection. Now mind you, the Odyssey was beautiful on the inside and the CarFax seemed promising. To the untrained eye (which is both my husband and I) we saw zero red flags. When our van was finally inspected, two mechanics walked us around the van pointing out places where the van had been repaired, and VERY poorly so. The van had previously been damaged, even though the carfax was clear, and an exuberant amount of bondo was used to try and "cover" up the problem areas, and then a crappy paint job was applied over the "repairs". The paint job was poor, as I noticed only after it was pointed out to me. Good vehicle painters will removed the lights before spraying, but with this car, you could see where they had taped around the lights, and even sealed some of the tape under the paint. There was Bondo inside some of the seams and panels of the van, and even a glob of it was left on the side of the gas tank door. They said this kind of paint job will look pretty for a year or two, but it would start chipping and bubbling before too long. Very shoddy work Also, the mechanics showed me where corners had been cut with making repairs under the hood. Whether the engine was good, I have no idea. We didn't have them inspect anything beyond that. It was enough for us to know Kas was selling a chocolate covered turd. Clearly, damage was caused to the car and instead of being taken to a respectable repair shop, it was rednecked into looking decent enough to sell it for more than it's worth. The mechanics said CarFax is not fool proof and you can't always go by that. I'm sure Kas sells some very nice cars, but since I'm rating my experience, I give it one star. Be careful and make sure the vehicle you're looking at from here is inspected first. read more

I found a Scion tC on the lot for two days, called and they said they'd hold it a couple days so I could look at it/ wait for my insurance claim to finish. I was already dead set on the car. Got my insurance claim finished, walked in and out in 40 minutes, and drove off the lot in my new car. Easiest experience ever, and the service was so nice, very polite and welcoming guys. I bought a car and 3 yr warranty cost ($1700), the car died 3 times in 3 weeks, the last time was in traffic and someone could have been hurt or killed, that was the last straw, the car also had a 6 CD player I fed 6 CD's and got error code and it wouldn't unload them, so I lost them too. Then when I get back to get a FULL refund a lady was there that just bought a car I test drove and my mechanic looked at it and the transmission was leaking, and her engine light came on after 2 days and so did mine. I told her and her husband everything and to get their money back. This place is dangerous to people, selling damaged cars and putting peoples lives at risk. They need to be closed asap. Good to hear everyone had a great experience there. Unfortunately for us, we had a terrible experience. I saw their car on Car Gurus, tried to contact them but no reply back which wasn't a big deal. My husband and I decided to go in and see the car ourselves. When we got there, we looked around and saw the vehicle. There was a gentlemen outside not saying anything to us. We weren't sure if he works there or not because he didn't greet us. Then we continue looking around and another man came out, stared at us and smile. Okay, awkward I thought so we decided to ask if we can test drive the car. Car was great. Loved everything about it. When we came back, we wanted to talk about financing the vehicle. They handed us 2 forms and asked us to fill it out. Wasn't sure what I was getting myself into so I asked to see if we could get a quote on it first before writing down my social security number. He said "No. We HAVE to run your credit to give you a quote." RED FLAG. I felt really pressured however, I already decided that I want the car so I allowed him to run mine as well as my husband's. He instantly asked to see how much we're willing to put down but i told him I want to know if we qualify to do 0% first. After he ran out credits, some complications came up & said we can come back the next day. Ok.... so we did. We went in right before they're closed since that was the only time we're available. It was an hour before they closed which was around 5pm. Anyway, they ran our credit again and said banks are closed early that day so they won't get an answer til the next day. (This is BS because why open a car dealership on Sunday if your lenders close Sunday's?) Long story short, I guess our credit weren't so great in their eyes so they refused to help us. Even told us if we make a down payment, it wouldn't make a difference. Total BS. I don't recommend this place for anyone. I got 2 hard inquiries on my credit score and walked out with NO CAR from them. Waste of my time. They didn't try any alternatives. We went to a different car dealership down the street and everything worked out for us. Got the vehicle we wanted for a better deal. read more

These guys are honest and have integrity. Last car I paid cash, I was in and out in no time at all. This time I financed the vehicle and Mo found me a great loan, no hassle! Driving home I had the weirdest thing happen, something plastic flew up and stuck to the catalytic converter & burst into flames. I thought it was the car. I called KAS and they sent a tow truck immediately. They had the mechanic check it out from top to bottom to be sure everything was okay, he removed the remaining plastic and declared the car safe. I asked if they financed to anyone (good credit, bad credit) and they said yes after talking to someone for over 20 minutes over the phone. After driving for an hour, I get there and the people there where nice but the sales man didn't even bother taking my information down to see if we can finance the vehicle he just told me reasons why I can't finance the car and wasn't any help so I left mad for driving an hour for no reason. We'd been looking for a good value on a used SUV and found KAS Auto Sales on Craig's list. We drove the two hours up to Sacramento and easily found Kamal's lot. He was a pleasure to work with and found us a Rav4 that was low mileage and in excellent condition. When we asked about a short warranty, he told us not to waste our money because he had his mechanic check it out and it was in perfect condition. While we were completing the paperwork, Kamal remarked he doesn't buy salvage or cars that he wouldn't want one of his kids to drive. He did all the DMV paperwork for us, and insisted we call him when we got back to Santa Rosa in the storm to know we got home ok. 4.5 stars Great customer service...went in without calling or an appointment after seeing a veichle i liked on their web page (2003 Acura Cl, 80,000 miles) as soon as the owner saw us parking on the lot (parking was a bit confusing) he came out the office and greeted us, told him I had seen a car on his page and he guided us right to it and brought the keys...his veichles are as is no warranty but you can arrange to have warranty... Car wouldn't start but he quickly charged the battery and it started right up (said he would change it)...asked a couple questions he answered them...we then went inside to talk about payment options...i am a first time buyer no credit (college student) and thought this might be a good way to build credit...he told me it wasn't worth paying up to 2000+ extra and i should just get a credit card from the bank and build credit that way...good advise at no extra charge...He seemed like he wanted a fair price for both parties and worked with us...now we are going to call our mechanic to come check out the car and test drive it...will update once the transaction is complete read more

I saw a car on KAS's website, made an inquiry and didn't get a response...Ok no big deal.I decide to drive to the dealership and when I turn into the lot I notice there is nowhere to park.I decide to park in the back area with the for sale cars. As I walk to the car I was interested in, a man stood halfway out of the dealership door just staring. I nod and walked around the car giving it a visual inspection. Another man comes out with the key to unlock the doors and I inspect the inside. Guy # 3 comes out (I'm guessing the owner because he was the best dressed and the eldest). Me: This is a nice car, can i take it for a test drive? Man: How are you going to pay? Wow! Who said I was going to pay anything yet? This caught me off guard but I explained I was interested in trading in my car. I would've also told him I was pre-approved for a loan and had $ for a down payment, but I didn't even know I wanted the car. The man proceeds to ask me about my trade in, make and mileage, and walks away to appraise my car. He then gets on the phone (I assume talking to someone about MY car) but the whole thing seemed backwards. As I waited, I inspected more and found the back bumper had some type of ram marks and when I opened the trunk, the hydraulic mechanism didn't work correctly. I assume because maybe it was hit from behind. The inside smelled of heavy cigars or cigarettes. Mind you, the website stated no exterior damage and no smokers. First of all I'd like to start this review by saying Moe is a good guy. He definitely went the extra mile even after selling me the car. I love my car, but there have been far too many problems for a car bought less than 2 months ago. Moe says all of his cars are inspected by a mechanic before being put on the lot but how could they not notice there were literally no headlight bulbs when I bought it? Also just as a test, I asked how long the car had been on the lot and he lied saying it had been a week when I had been watching the car for over a month. I'm giving the review 4 stars since the additional problems I've had with the car were out of the dealers control and Moe was nice enough to pay for a mechanics diagnostic after I expressed some concern with the clutch slipping.
