    I got the longanisa breakfast sandwich, chicken adobo ube huckleberry basque cake, and Manila fog. Everything was so delicious. I especially liked the longanisa breakfast sandwich and chicken adobo. I'm so glad that they were willing to make the breakfast sandwhiches beyond 12pm for some of us waiting in line. Fyi they normally stop making the breakfast sandwhiches at noon. Be prepared to wait in line for at least an hour, this spot is super popular. I also really enjoyed the chicken adobo. The chicken was tender and I thought the hint of sweetness from the coconut flakes sprinkled on top was a pleasant touch. I also really liked the Manila fog drink - it wasn't too sweet or overpowering. For the ube huckleberry basque cake - I mostly tasted tartness from the huckleberry and not so much ube, but it was good regardless. The staff were all pretty nice. There's indoor and outdoor seating. You'll likely be able to make a friend or two from the wait in line haha. Highly recommend trying this place at least once!

    My boyfriend is Filipino so we had to try this spot while we were visiting Chicago we used the preorder link at 8:50am and the items were ready for pickup at 11:15am we ordered: -- ube basque: 7/10 it didn't really have much ube flavor -- chocolate caramel tart: 7.5/10 the tart was perfect but the chocolate and caramel together makes it a little too sweet - the pieces on the top unfortunately didn't add to the taste -- truffle croissant: 10/10 wow this was amazing! I actually don't like truffle or croissant but this was flaky, and the rock sugar (I think that's what it is?) on top is so addicting. the cream truffle filling was flavorful but not overpowering -- longanisa egg sandwich + hashbrown: 7/10 just wasn't a standout for me -- mushroom adobo: 8/10 it was flavorful - I would order again but not sure it's worth almost $20 for drinks, we both got the hot yam but my boyfriend got it iced and I got it hot -- it tasted better iced but it was still lacking in ube flavor. the coffee also didn't taste strong enough for me personally honestly I really wanted to like this place more but for almost $100 for everything and the long wait, I expected at least half of the items to be perfect but I felt like only the truffle croissant felt like a 10/10 for me I will say the staff was very sweet though -- maybe it's a better experience dining in, so I think next time I will wake up early to eat inside and hopefully be able to give a higher rating :-)

    Believe the hype. Such a cool place with great Filipino food & pastries. We usually get there around 8am or so. They open at 9. The line starts around then or earlier. I get the egg,cheese,& hash brown sandwich. The fluffy egg is magic. Potato bun is soft. Hash brown is crispy. The Ube latte is delicious hot or iced. But the star of the show is the pastries. That huckleberry basque is my favorite. Fast, friendly service. The outdoor patio is adorable. They bring your food out to you. Oh yeah, they stop some of the breakfast items at noon though. Go early.

    The pastries were good but not good enough to wait in line for. I would place an online pick up order ahead of time and get stuff to-go. Try to place a pick up order as soon as they open, since the wait times can be very long for pick up. I checked at 10am on a Sunday and the order pick up time would've been 1pm. I got there at 10am on Sunday and the line took 2 hours to get seated. You wait in one line for both dine-in and carry-out orders. -- The Ube and Coconut Ensaymada had great texture, almost like a bun and donut hybrid. The cream filling was good but I wish there was more cream inside. -- The Apple Hand Pie was awesome. The filling was almost like a caramelized apple spread, and the outside was flaky and had a crunchy sugar crust on top. -- The Maiz Corn Leche was absolutely decadent and the best thing I had at Kasama. It was so creamy, lightly salted, and had a strong corn flavor. -- The Manila Fog was okay. The tea flavor is strong and the drink was creamy, but the pandan flavor was almost non-existent.

    Had to try this place when I was in town. Heard about crazy wait times to eat there in person, so I ordered online for pick up as soon as they opened at 9am. By the time I completed my order, the pickup time was 12:15pm. However, it's nice to order from wherever you are and know what time to swing by for your pickup. When I got there, the line wasn't as crazy as I've seen photos of, but it was still long. You get to walk inside past the line for online pick up. There's a sign on the counter. They make any drinks you order fresh when you get there, and it's really quick too! Service was very friendly and fast inside! The ube latte was one of the best ube flavors I've had in an ube latte before. Highly recommend! I had it iced. The pork belly adobo (only available on weekends I think) was a little disappointing. It's very possible it wasn't that great because it might've been sitting a few minutes before I picked it up and then it was 15-20 minutes uber back to my hotel to eat it. Food is always better when eaten fresh, so I don't fault them for it. The egg was perfectly cooked. I thought the pork belly would be cut in bigger chunks like their photos online, but they were cut very small. I want to try the breakfast sandwich next time I'm in town. The chocolate chip cookie with dark and white chocolate was big, soft, and yummy. I also got the banana tart which was SO good. It was not what I expected, but the flavors and textures were spot on. They have some benches on the side of their restaurant so if you do online order for pickup, I'd recommend trying to grab a spot there and eat the food fresh. I would recommend the baked goods and ube latte, not sure about the hot food until I can go back and try more menu items.

    Aside from waiting an hour and a half to get in for breakfast, like a Disney ride, this place did not disappoint. Once you're in its cozy and casual and they operate like a well-oiled machine. Friendly, fast, and furious. There are so many delicious pastries I wanted to try but didn't have enough time. We definitely had to take some home for later and I would do it again, but get even more! The black sesame and ube coconut cold brews were definitely a great way to start. These were perfectly sweetened drinks that hit the spot and satisfied our tummies while we waited for the main events. I would order both again without hesitation. Yum! Ube huckleberry Basque cake - if you're familiar with the Spanish almond tortes, it was very much like that. Crispy outside and dense cake-like inside. The huckleberry balanced out the sweetness of the ube jam. Very nice! Black truffle croissant, one of the best pastries I've had. Filled with Delice de Bourgogne cheese (my fave) and topped with shaved truffles and rock sugar. A very nice play between sweet and savory...but $16! For me, worth the splurge, 100%! Ube coconut ensaymada. I don't care for ensaymada but had to try this one. It's filled with an ube cream and the big difference is that this had a nice crispy crust, soft inside, and no sugary butter "frosting" (which I don't like in a traditional version). Definitely good but I don't have to have it again. Breakfast sandwich with cheddar cheese, soufflé egg, longaniza, and crispy hash brown between a soft sandwich bun. No sauces needed, the flavors stand out themselves. We need to make this at home, guys. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The hash brown adds some nice crisp to what would otherwise be a soft sandwich. If I did it at home I'd skip the hash brown and just crisp up the buns on a fry pan to save some calories, lol. Tocino and longaniza--Perfectly fried egg over garlic fried rice with tocino and longanisa, served with pickled green papaya and garnished with cilantro, mint, and green onion. Leveled up for sure with a higher cut of pork for the tocino, but the longanisa didn't impress at all. It was not packed with the full flavor of a good sweet, tart and spicy longanisa that I know. It was more tame and westernized which I think didn't do justice to Filipino cuisine. Albeit, I will say that I didn't have that longaniza after effect that longaniza eaters know too well-- you know what I mean! Ok, last but not least -- chicken adobo. Had to have this and so glad I did. This was my favorite dish and I'm going to bring some of what I've learned back to the home kitchen. This is sliced chicken thigh. It looks like it was marinated and then grilled, topped with a nicely balanced adobo sauce and smothered with chicken skin palapa (scallion, ginger, toasted coconut), and a side of pickled green papaya. D-freakn-licious! This was definitely leveled up adobo!!! I regretted not having reservations for their fine dining experience during my short Chicago stay.

    We chose Kasama, a two Michelin star restaurant to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, and it was a truly amazing dining experience we will never forget!! Street parking can be a bit challenging, but we were fortunate to find a spot less than a block away. As an added bonus, parking was free as it was on a Sunday. The dining room was cozy with an open kitchen, offering a glimpse of the precision and passion behind every plate, under the careful watch of its chef and owner. Hospitality was impeccable!! The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel at home. The service was a performance in itself. Each course was delivered with impeccable timing, like clockwork, as the staff moved seamlessly in sync that reflected the same level of attention to detail found in every dish. The chef and owner has elevated and interpreted Filipino comfort into an art form. Each of the 13 dishes in the tasting menu beautifully and impeccably presented, and thoughtfully composed. Familiar tastes from home transformed and refined into something truly exceptional. All honoring Filipino cuisine and culture. Our dining experience ended with wonderful surprise and expression of Filipino hospitality. Each guest was given a "baon" of delicious and buttery Ube Huckleberry Basque Cakes to enjoy, along with a copy of the tasting menu as a cherished memento of the celebration. This was more than just a meal. It was a memorable culinary journey to home and the perfect way to celebrate 35 years of marriage. Thank you for this remarkable tribute to Filipino cuisine and a dining experience worthy of its Michelin stars. So proud that Chicago has another Michelin-starred restaurant, and even more proud that it is owned and operated by a Filipino chef who is showcasing our cuisine on the world stage. Bravo!!

    As someone who lived in the area pre-Michelin star days, I'm so grateful to see how much this spot has grown. From coming with barely a crowd and being able to snag a table immediately, to a line forming before open, it's exciting for the business. That being said, the experience is less pleasant than it used to be. Despite the insane crowds, the food and drinks are still superb. My favorites are the longanisa breakfast sandwich (add a hash brown, of course!) and iced ube latte. I recently tried the corn milk latte, which was great, but I'd avoid or get an added espresso shot if you don't like super sweet beverages. Highly recommend ordering ahead for takeout so you can skip the line. However, you have to order right when orders open in the morning, and you still might have to wait a few hour before pickup.

    Holy crap. I don't know how to describe this place in just words because words themselves won't do this place justice....if you haven't gone, it is worth every single penny (and time)! We went here on a Thursday at ~11am and waited about 20 minutes to get dine-in seating. The staff members were all very welcoming, despite the amount of people they had to serve. If you are dining in, you must order all of your items in the front before being seated. Be sure to order everything you want, because the pastries might be gone by the time you want to take any to-go! The food was immaculate. The breakfast sandwich tasted like home, and the egg just melted right inside our mouths. The Ube and Coconut "Ensaymada" was another favorite. My partner and I enjoyed every single bite of it, and regretted that we did not get a second one! We weren't too much of a fan for the Black Truffle Croissant, but maybe because we aren't totally into the cheese-inside-croissant type of food. Though, it is a popular pastry, so definitely worth the try! Oh, Hot Yam! was another fan favorite (and honestly ours too) for drinks. The latte was not too sweet, and you could still taste the ube essence with hints of espresso Seating wise, there were limited booth-type of seats. We sat at the bar, but the limited seating explains why there is always a line. Very cute restaurant, and def aesthetically pleasing. We will definitely visit again, and maybe even try the tasting menu for dinner!

    Kasama was a must-stop on our Chicago trip. We got there at 8:45 on a Thursday morning and were second in line, so I would recommend going during the week instead of the weekends if you're able to. The viral breakfast sandwich was delicious and worth the stop, though I think it would be even better with a pepper jam or aioli on the side. The lumpia were super tasty, and the iced black sesame latte was top tier. The pastries were great too, especially the apple hand pie. I will dream about that thing. My fiancé wasn't a fan of the truffle croissant, but I really enjoyed it. Great service, ambiance, and food overall. I totally get the hype!

    The first thing you need to know is that it's a line to get in. So be prepared. There is an online order option, but that can be a wait as well, however you get to skip the line. With that out the way let's review the food. I started with a pastry (because I had been waiting for an hour plus) I was going to get this cheesecake type. I asked my waitress what she liked and she mention this pastry that's basically has a cream spread and berry spread. So I ordered it. It was pretty good 4/5. Next I had the breakfast sandwich, it was good, but it's very much hyped, and I was not amazed. 4/5 I also took the chicken Adobe and the combo sandwich to go. The combo sandwich was very much OK. The beef was OK. But not great flavor, the longanisa sausage was good. It was smothered in giardinieria again OK 3/5. The chicken Adobe with rice was really tasty imo. Had a good gravy on the the chicken and it had a smoky taste. The rice seem fried, might have liked it more moist, not that it was hard. But this was the best thing I'd give it a 4.5/5. The pastry and chicken Adobe and rice would be the only thing i would order again.

    Spontaneous visit to Kasama. I've never been here before because all I hear is how long the lines are and that I'll likely be standing in line for two hours so I've just avoided going. We were in the area on a Saturday and it was around 1:30pm, but there was still a small line outside. We debated whether or not to go, and after realizing they take online orders, we just did that so we did not have to wait in the line (which ended up being kind of pointless because there was basically no line around 2:15pm when we went to pick it up). They close at 3pm and their kitchen closes at 2pm, so we were unable to try any of their other food or dine-in. I'm sure their food is great and maybe their other bakery items are better, so I'd love to come back another time in the morning. Maybe I'll change this to a 5-star review. This time, I could only choose from whatever bakery items were left and their coffees, and their online ordering system was inaccurate. When placing my order online, there were things that said were sold out but weren't when I went to the store, and there was one thing that I ordered that ended up being sold out. The employees were kind enough to call us and also ask us when we got there if there's something else I wanted. I got the chocolate chip banana bread, but sort of wished I got something else instead because the banana bread was super average and nothing all that special about it. I guess it makes sense why it was one of the last things left. The iced lattes we got were really good! I love the unique flavor options they have. We tried the black sesame one (didn't taste super strong of black sesame) and the spiced white mocha with Sichuan peppercorn (a bit spicy but not bad). Both intimidated me at first, but they ended up being really tasty and not at all as strange as I was expecting.

    My friend recommend this place. I wanted to try while I was visiting Chicago. I was looking forward to it with all the good reviews I read. We went on a Saturday morning. We stood in line around 11am and got sat around 12:15pm. Seems like the long line is due to very small space inside, however once you order your food, it comes out quick. I ordered black sesame latte and their breakfast sandwich. My friend ordered the adobo. Both dishes were tasty and my latte was good. I would recommend coming here if you have time to wait in line. They seem to also take a lot of online orders as there were people coming and going to pick up their orders. If you're visiting, make time for at least 2 hours including wait. I'd definitely come back when I visit again.

    I recommend you preorder your food online for pickup just in case there's a line for dining in. And there probably will be, especially depending on when your flight is. There's always an opportunity to add food to your order when picking up too

    If you had to choose between breakfast or dinner, which would you choose? I know scoring dinner resos are a feat in itself, and ofc both are diff experiences. But visiting CHI and trying to figure out which one to do if we can get resos.

    If you are able to get a reservation for dinner, do it! We chose the breakfast route. it was definitely worth it! Very delicious! Depending on the day the line is usually pretty long even 1 hour before opening!

We were searching frantically for a patio we could have dinner on because the weather was too perfect to be inside and somehow, Girl & The Goat had space available last minute. After a quick wait, we were seated with menus in no time. We started off with the tropic like it's hot cocktail which was the most refreshing and delicious cocktail I've ever had. Dangerously delicious but also weirdly felt like I was drinking a healthy green juice. For dinner, two of us split a bunch of different plates like the roasted asparagus, salmon poke, shrimp salad, and kohlrabi salad. Each dish they brought out was more incredible than the last, and those four dishes were plenty of food. We left perfectly full but the food was so fresh and light, we didn't feel too weighed down. From the list, I honestly can't even say what my favorites were, but our server recommended all of them so we have him to thank. The salmon poke was delicious and so fresh and honestly such a solid choice. If you only get one thing (don't. get like 2 plates per person prob) that is the one. Only thing to note is that the patio is on a kind of busy street and if you go on a weekend night it can get crazy loud when those weird quad bikes drive past blasting music at an absurd volume. Go here, you will love it. Get all of the amazing food and at least one cocktail bc they are delicious.

Wonderful experience here, I was just visiting and after I finally found parking, I asked to be seated but did not have a reservation, the hostess said if I could be about an hour she could squeeze us in. So I was thankful for that, we were not looking to stay for a long time just wanted to try the place out. Once seated we were waited on and served fast. What on earth was going on? Why would you cover bone marrow with fig, bacon, and so much cilantro? Bone marrow is a delicate dish. You are supposed to taste the richness and subtle flavor of the marrow itself. The cilantro completely overpowered it, and the fig and bacon made it even worse. Chef, where did you train? This dish made no sense. Then came the agnolotti. I have no words. Just look at the photo: full of oil. I mean completely swimming in oil. Then the chitarra with seafood. Horrible. Spicy for no reason. Again, why are you trying to cover the ingredients instead of letting them speak for themselves? Also, the fish tasted frozen, not fresh. The pork belly, supposedly the signature dish, was another disappointment. Again, so much sauce that the actual flavor of the pork belly was completely lost. The staff were nice, the ambiance was okay, and the wine selection was good. But please, stop covering the taste of the food you cook. If you need to hide the ingredients under excessive sauce, spice, cilantro, oil, bacon, or sweetness, the only explanation is that the ingredients are not good enough on their own. I will not be coming back. Not even for free. Sorry. PS. Why so much bread on each dish? So much buttery horrible bread that you will trash, because it's impossible to eat all of it.

I accidentally bit the whole thing and didn't realize they kept the core in, and I had to spit it out. And even after eating it properly it didn't feel like I got enough of it from those little bites. Loved the fries though! We didn't see a dessert menu but we would have definitely been interested in that. After all the drinks apps and the chicken sandwich I was feeling so full so I couldn't finish the burger so I got it wrapped to go. But let me tell you even when I reheated that burger the next day.. it was fantastic!! Overall we may have been the loudest and most obnoxious group (we get a bit excited haha) our waiter and the vibe were all matched! Round 1: The chicken arrived as all white meat. We sent it back. Round 2: My boyfriend's plate was corrected, but mine came out with two thighs and two wings. Ready to eat at this point, I just sent the wings back. Round 3: They finally brought out the correct drumsticks. The excuse given by our waiter was that someone in the kitchen couldn't read English, causing a language barrier. I'll leave it to others to decide how they feel about that as an excuse. But what I will say is that a language barrier in the kitchen is a management problem, not a customer problem, and it should never result in a guest sending their plate back twice. While mistakes happen, the food itself was a letdown once we finally ate. My boyfriend's cheddar waffle was completely uncooked and raw in the center, and both the waffle and his fried chicken thighs had a strange, off-taste to them. What really ruined the experience, though, was the lack of management. The manager was actively walking around the dining room the entire time but never once stopped by our table to apologize for the multiple mix-ups or the raw food. For the price point, the service and quality control here need serious work. I'll stick to the Miami location.

It was paired with a thick slice of Texas toast and a beef cheek marmalade and it is seriously the PERFECT balance of flavors. Fatty. Sweet. Buttery. Literally insane and this is a must order! Then came the famous burger. My friend and I each ordered a single cheeseburger with the egg and bacon added. Something to note is that the single cheeseburger actually has 2 patties and the double cheeseburger has 3 patties (3/4lbs of beef). The presentation itself is beautiful and makes you just not want to eat it haha. The burger itself is so decadent and hefty with the burger patties, cheese, egg and bacon. I'd like to throw in my own quote into the gauntlet: "it's ok". It sounds harsh but Our burger patty was noticeably dry. The bread... was also dry. The egg and bacon add-ons were good but as a whole, the burger was missing the core aspect. The bread being dry I can justify by knowing that Au Cheval makes it a point to make everything gluten-free (or so someone told me). I think that's cool but not necessarily what I came looking for. I actually noticed prior to our trip from photos that the buns looked noticeably arid but I gave them no heed because of all of the praise. And I can give them the benefit of the doubt that we were there on a Sunday night, so potentially not the most quality inventory (although I personally don't think that's a great excuse). The service and the ambiance were on point! If you're wondering if there's a required attire (no shorts or flip flops) I wouldn't fret, the atmosphere is a lot more casual despite self-describing as an "intimate" setting. It's definitely more intimate than a normal burger restaurant, with dim lighting and isolated booths but what you're wearing isn't going to dictate how other guests and staff feel.
