The brown bread is good, though a bit hard which is fine. That's an 8/10. The sourdough bread is a 4/10 - it's flavorless. It comes with a tiny bit of eggplant spread which is a 6.5/10 and I'm glad I didn't order that. Herring salad: 6.5/10. Would have been a 5/10 had we not ordered bread to go with it. It gets salty. The price is also terrible - $13.75 for a tiny portion, which factored into the rating. Chicken Blintz: 5/10. Had higher hopes but was disappointed. It's mostly just a lot of cream and not enough actual flavor. Was saved by adding some herring salad to it to give it some more flavor, salt, and acidity. We got the bread because the spreads do NOT come with bread, which is crazy considering the price of the spread. Decor is cute. The server was nice. My friend does like this place and this was her second time here, but I can't justify the price and the flavor of what we ordered. Parking is free but in a tiny strip mall so limited parking.

He was so helpful with guiding us what to get and suggesting popular dishes The appetizers were delicious! I remember it being a type of bread and red sauce We had lamb as our main dish with other sides which was amazing! The food was so tender and rich in flavor I was shocked by it At the end the owner gave us some Russian chocolate and talked about his business with us. It was a lovely conversation and the chocolates were some of the best chocolate I've ever had I was so shocked to see why the place was so empty, it was clean, well kept, beautiful decorations, and a warm vibe! (Then again it was during Covid times) The outside of the restaurant isn't the best but what can you expect from LA? Russians usually order the banquet-style fixed price dinner (cold appetizers, hot appetizers, main course & tea) then lounge around for 2-3 hours consuming the food intermittently with drinking, jiving to the live music & going outside in packs for a smoke. This restaurant has been around for a while under different owners. The inside is kitschy but in a fun way (full-wall Russian mural!), the food is pretty good, but what I really dig is the entertainment. Very 80s-90s Russian disco. I had a B-day party for my Russian family peeps here recently and they played a jam version of Happy B-day followed by "The Wall." How cool is that?!?!

I've been coming for three years now, and while I'm guilty of ordering my favorites often, I think I'd have a tough time making my way through all of the foods on offer even if I switched it up on each visit. 4 different types of meatballs (the chicken breast one is to die for), lox, cabbage rolls, at least a half dozen cooked seafood options (shout out fish in tomato sauce), stroganoff, 3-4 different types of couscous and plov....and that's only half of the non veggie section. The cakes are great (Black Forest and walnut go hard). The Russian/Ukranian chip flavors rule. There are specialty candies and jarred foods and good looking fruits and veggies. There's an off menu soup with dill and little chicken meatballs that I'd recommend to anyone ailing in a heartbeat. And then, finally, we arrive at the salads and cold veggies. Nonstop bangers. The beet salad with prunes and garlic may sound wild for non Eastern European tastes, but it's unique and addictive and works. The potato salad Olivier? Best potato salad I've ever had. My wife has recently discovered the zucchini, which looks like a bunch of unassuming diced veggies but tastes savory and complex and herby. I've found some especially healthy and nutritious food here for my health recovery goals recently. About six years ago, I had been exposed to high levels of radiation according to a good old fashioned Geiger counter. My health began to drastically decline and I became very weak. I could barely stand and I barely survived. I knew about a famous brave Ukrainian woman who had survived radiation exposure thanks to her unborn child. Her survival story led to me requesting female cancer screenings which led to the surgeries that saved my life. (**Confetti flying **) There's a very long list of doctors and people who have helped me survive and recover to whom I live for in gratitude. Our commitment to the people and values which help us survive the impossible compels us to rise to the occasion of coming back stronger and better than we ever could have accomplished before or alone. Khoolidets? -It's rich with real collagen, high in protein and perfectly balanced with firm carrots and vegetables.I love this dish! Five stars. A real life look young dish! The portions are fine, not American super obesity sized, more like normal human sized. The atmosphere is awesome. The restaurant is clean. The bathroom is clean. The dessert case is beautiful. The outdoor seating is great. The place is super charming and your girlfriend will love you for taking her. There's a constant flow of beautiful people. Amazing place to enjoy food, watch beautiful people, and stare at other people's cute dogs. The service is where it falters from a full 5 star restaurant. They are not rude at all. They're actually very nice. They're just overwhelmed. There's basically one guy with an occasional 2nd that are the order taker, server, busser, barista servicing the whole place. You're going to get a lot of "please wait a few minutes", they're going to forget your drinks, it's going to take 15 minutes to get a dessert from the case. Go for the great food. It was immediately clear that the owners and chefs here are driven by a genuine philosophy, not just profit. You can feel the care and thought put into every single dish. Everything was impeccable--from the freshness of the ingredients and the flavor balance to the thoughtful details, like the choice of glassware and coffee cups. It's rare to see that level of care throughout the entire experience. I also ordered the pizza without high expectations, but it turned out to be better than many specialized pizza shops. It was truly outstanding. The two young staff members at the front were incredibly kind and welcoming as well. The only minor downside is the parking--it might be a bit tricky for first-timers, and the lot is somewhat tight. But honestly, that's just part of life here in L.A. As a big supporter of local businesses, I want to say that the food and service are so exceptional that the parking situation becomes a non-issue. It really is that good.
