Okay, they are really nice but... They ran out of half the stuff at that bar and the menu. The poor kid waiting on us did his best. However, 1/2 of the things we ordered we're not available even though they were on the menu. Poor guy was waiting on 5 tables and making drinks all by himself. It took forever to get served. Seriously, full bar lots of taps and half the taps didn't work. Staff gets a "A" for effort or 5 stars. Management gets a "F+" they at least hired kids who tried. Looking for a good place near Newfound lake with my wife, I chose this place, always a sucker for a good Irish pub. Unfortunately when we walked in at 12:15 only one my one table was seated. No hostess to greet us so we sat ourselves. Food remnants, probably from the night before were on the seat, so we sat at a cleaner table. 5 minutes went by and no host or server to be found. Walked out and found a cleaner more stAffed establishment . Not sure I would give this place another chance. The menu on line looked good but never had a chance to order. read more

Been here a couple of time now it's a cool little Irish style pub that if your not looking for it you will miss it. They have a very large menu with traditional Irish food and plenty of other stuff. Fairly clean and service is usually pretty good, good dark beer on tap the appetizers are very good I had the Reuben which was outstanding I mean really good my wife had the lamb burger which was also excellent. We live in Bristol and had been hoping that a great restaurant would open close to town. Kathleen's Cottage opened a few years ago and has been a favorite ever since. The chicken strips and sauce are the best I've ever had, the Caesar salad is delicious. Great beer selection and great service thanks to our waiter. We've had most everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Love to sit outside in the summer. It's small and can be loud but should not deter from trying. read more

Friends wanted to try this place so 6 of us headed there early on a Saturday evening. Reservations had been made, but when we arrived, we were told to sit anywhere. Luckily, there was 1 table open that was big enough to accommodate all of us. If they had been holding it for our reservation, it was hard to tell! Regardless, we were warmly welcomed by our server and our drink orders were promptly delivered. The menu offers a variety of selections from apps, sandwiches to full dinners. There is a page of Irish specialties which 4 of us ordered from feeling somewhat adventurous, but when you're at an Irish pub, it seems like the thing to do! Servings were plentiful and everyone found their meal to be good. Mine, a Boxty, could have been warmer, but then I prefer my food hotter than most people. It was very tasty with a flavorful beef filling. I did realize that I never received the sautéed vegetables that was listed on the menu, but by then I was full so didn't say anything. Two of my dinner mates ordered the Guiness Beef Stew and another had the traditional Bangers and Mash. Other items ordered were burgers--one named The Dublin Burger---an interesting combination of a burger topped with corned beef and cabbage, Swiss cheese and dressing. There is a great beer and whiskey menu for those who enjoy those beverages. The place is very small so it would fill up very quickly, especially on Friday nights when they have Irish music. You're like one of the family at this little Irish pub. . . Super friendly folks with good food and occasional live music. The only downsides are it's a little hard to find (look for the hardware store) and once when we went in with a large-ish group for lunch the service was pretty slow. I had waited far too long to check out Kathleen's Cottage -- I had good experiences with Cu Na Mara and am glad I've finally made it to this new place. I was there on a Friday evening -- the live music was great as always. The seating area was a little bit snug, but mostly in a cozy-night-at-the-pub kind of way. I had a good soup of the day, and a very generous and tasty portion of shepherd's pie. The brown bread was so tasty but a little bit cold inside. No room left for the bread pudding -- if it's the Cu Na Mara bread pudding, I'll just say here: you must try it. I don't like bread pudding much, and I loved this stuff when I had it. My favorite thing about Kathleen's Cottage: the whiskey/beer/cider list -- lots of the real deal to sample and savor. Good to see that the place is doing well. read more

Hadn't been here in quite a while, but still as good as ever, maybe better. Ap of boxty was hot and tender with a smooth mild cheese dipping sauce. The misses gave a careful cooking request for her lamb burger and they nailed it "perfectly" (quote is hers). I had the steak tips with blue cheese - amazing, and also cooked just right. We shared a giant "sticky toffee pudding" for dessert - amazing, and unique. Only dissapointment was no Bellhaven on draught, but Guiness filled the bill just fine. my 13 person party literally got food poisoning from this place and someone in our party had to wait an hour for their food after we all got ours. we're pretty sure it's the fries. they were nasty. the coconut shrimp was burnt. i don't know what you all are on in these good reviews, but it sucked. read more

Good atmosphere and drinks, but crazy owner...

The wife and I decided to try this place for dinner after hearing some positive reviews from some friends. It was actually a little bit nicer than I was expecting. When we walked in at 6 it wasn't very crowded. They had a surprisingly large selection on the menu, and some interesting beers. We ordered buffalo tenders as an appetizer, which we both really liked. For dinner I had the fish and chips which was nicely cooked, but needed more seasoning. The fries were good and my wife thought the cobb salad was tasty. The only real downside was that it got a bit busier as the night wore on and with only two waiters the service got kind of slow. Otherwise, we really had a nice time and plan to go back. read more

This place is an absolute GEM!! We had heard of it through Chronicle and hoped to visit while we were staying at Newfound Lake for a few days. I ordered a reuben and my husband ordered the RLT....BOTH, were scrumptious and the reuben was HUGE! The corned beef was cut in chunks....piled high with all the fixins'....so moist and tender. It was absolutely delicious!! We actually brought leftovers home for a delicious lunch the next day. My husband loved his RLT...despite being fussy with his bacon/ham. The fries (they call them chips), were crispy and flavorful!! The waitress was awesome and even the owner came out to chat. Both were delightful! We would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for a delicious meal. Oh, and did I mention the Guinness Beers were poured to perfection?!!! read more

Kathleen's Cottage & Irish Pub Sooo Good....a taste of Heaven on a plate!!!! 8/25/18 - We visited here for lunch on Saturday. Our menu's were brought to us by a charming little redheaded Angle, by the name of Trinity... Our waitress, Mackenzie, was cheerful, helpful, and attentive. A great start to a wonderful afternoon. You can tell a lot about the food at an Irish Pub by trying their simplest meals. My choice was the Bangers & Mash. It was a treat that I can only describe as a taste of Heaven on a plate. The Bangers (sausages), are made locally by a real Irishman, who was a butcher in Ireland, before he came to the US. His sausages keep the traditional Irish texture and flavors. The boiled, loosely mashed potatoes, filled the plate. As a value, this meal was outstanding. I could not finish it, which meant I got to enjoy another great meal! If you're ever in Bristol, NH, Kathleen's Irish Pub is a must to visit. Next time, I'll try the Guinnes Beef Stew, or their Shepherd's Pie!
