A nice addition to downtown! The owners have another location and expanded with this location in Los Altos. They were very friendly and we appreciated that they were mindful of our ordering and helped us so we didn't order too much! We really liked the samosas.

Five stars for Kathmandu Cuisine! The Ajwain Garlic Soup was a standout. Tangy, nourishing, and it absolutely hit the spot. We also loved the Veg Momos. The dough had that perfect chewy texture and the dipping sauce complemented them beautifully. For the main course, the Aalu Curry was packed with fresh vegetables, and the Garlic Naan arrived hot and fresh. The service was outstanding from start to finish. So happy to have this new spot in Los Altos!

    Tibetan momo

I recently tried this restaurant and was overall a decent experience. I would give it more a 3.5/5 rating but am rounding to 4. I ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan and Tibetan pork momo. The momo was really good but the butter chicken was not so much. It was basically tomato soup with a lot of sugar in it. I think this restaurant does Nepalese dishes well but I would not recommend ordering Indian food from here. If you're craving Indian curry, there are many better options in the South Bay. I wanted to try the Nepalese thali they offered however when I asked to substitute the rice with naan the staff said it was not allowed. I have done this replacement in Thalis at other restaurants so was quite surprised. Other than lack of accommodations/substitutions in food, the staff were friendly. I probably would try this place again since it's close, but only order momos or maybe other Nepalese speciality dishes like dal bhat.

    Chicken Sizzler

Delicious food!! We went out for a team lunch and we left so satisfied, we'll definitely be back! We ordered the Veg and Chicken Momos, Egg Hakka Noodles, and Chicken Curry! All the food was fantastic, but my favorite by far was the chicken sizzler!

It tastes exactly like the vibrant street food you'd find in Kathmandu or Darjeeling. The Standouts: * Veg Steamed Momos: These are perfection. The dough is rolled thin enough to be delicate but strong enough to hold the generous filling. The vegetable mix inside is finely minced, juicy, and seasoned with that distinct ginger-garlic punch. * The "Momo Achar" (Dipping Sauce): You can't talk about these momos without the sauce. It's a spicy, roasted tomato and sesame chutney that provides the perfect acidic kick to the savory dumplings. * Street Style Chow Mein: This is a nostalgia trip in a bowl. It's got that high-heat "wok hei" (breath of the wok) flavor--smoky, savory, and slightly oily in the best way possible. The noodles have a great bite, tossed with crunchy cabbage, carrots, and onions. This is the ultimate comfort meal. Fast, fresh, and bursting with authentic spices. I absolutely love it!

We both ordered the momo (buffalo) noodle soup and were blown away! The noodles were similar to mama/indomie rather than fresh, but I ended up loving it regardless. The broth was very light but super flavorful and savory. AND THE MOMOS!!! Absolutely to die for; I think they were the best I've ever had. Not to mention it was very fairly priced and lasted us both for two meals. Not to mention, especially in the South Bay, most Nepalese/Himalayan restaurants heavily feature Indian food. Rara stands out to me because Nepali food is absolutely the star here. I wasn't familiar with a majority the menu and that's a great thing because they're offering unique dishes you can't find everywhere. This is definitely going to be a new go-to place for us!

I originally wanted tacos (which was unavailable) but noticed this food truck instead. For reference, I've never tried Nepalese/Indo-Chinese food, so I figured I would give it a shot. The guy running the food truck is soft-spoken but was able to provide suggestions. When I asked what was popular, he told me that people try the dumplings, so I ordered one (1), which come in a set of 8. Each one is about the size of two quarters in diameter (for scale). It comes with sauces on the spicy side. I figured that alone wasn't enough to alleviate my hunger pangs, so I ordered the Paneer Chow Mein and Mango Lassi, too. My order came out after 15 minutes. In the meantime, I waited under the tent that was stationed with a dining table next to the truck. Paneer Chow Mein - 6/10. Tastes like your average standard Chow Mein. I didn't know what paneer was, but after a quick Google search, it's cheese with the look, texture and taste of tofu. I ate enough to send me into a food coma. The guy packed plenty into the container (and I barely made a dent), so I rated it higher. Chicken Momo (Dumplings) - 7/10. What you'd expect of a chinese steamed dumpling but with a slight twist. I don't have a diverse culinary palate, but there was a hint of a curry(esque) flavor in the filling. Delicious with the sauces. Mango Lassi - 1000000/10. I am a sweet tooth and woah....I absolutely love this drink. It is an Indian mango yogurt drink that is not too thick or sickly sweet. It has a thick consistency and was perfect to have during the summer as a dessert. It was about $4 for 12oz but I had to order another one for the road because it is exactly what I needed. Overall, I would stop by again if I needed something to curb my empty stomach.

Quantity was very generous. Both the dishes came with a nice variety of finely diced veggies. The sauces that came on the side were really good. They had a nice little kick as well. The reason for rating them a bit low is because there was a strong salty aftertaste in both the fried rice and chow mein. And it was difficult to eat much of them.

But we were undeterred and ordered anyway. I'd gotten the palak paneer, my favorite Indian dish and my usual basis for comparison, with kulcha naan and it was okay, but nothing to really write home about. The palak paneer was a bit sweeter than I had expected, but other than that, just fine. My coworker and I also split vegetable pakora that came with a somewhat spicy sauce (I am a spice wimp, but he is very much not), and those were pretty good. I don't quite remember what my coworker got as his main, maybe one of the dal dishes, but he also thought it was fine. The location itself is pretty small, and seems to be more for takeout than sit down diners, although that is what we did. Parking was pretty easy in the plaza, but that might be because the pizza place next door appeared to be closed? Things felt slightly dingy, but I think maybe in truth things were just a bit worn, right down to the Corelle plates which seemed like they had been in service for a long time. Decor is pretty sparse, but the lady behind the counter was nice enough when we were ordering. Overall, not a bad experience, but also not much of a draw for me. But if you like your Indian food a little on the sweeter side, maybe this is the place for you.
