Consistent with any "Louisiana" gas station (in Texas in this case so none of you think me confused) it is a gastronomic experience with an assortment of Po'Boy's, Grilled and Fried Fish, Crawfish (In season) and gumbo which is quite flavorful. What a wonderful little find on my way to Austin. I don't expect much from gas station restaurants but this one really surprised me. We walked in on a rainy day trying to avoid the Denny's at the Flying J in Brookshire and I'm so glad we chose this place instead. It was completely empty but the service was great and the people were super friendly. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of green beans and my friend had the fried fish platter with fries and hush-puppies. The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly and was tender and juicy and the bun was a buttered, toasted hamburger bun topped with lettuce and tomato. It was fantastic. I've honestly never had a better chicken sandwich. The green beans were sauteed in bacon and had chunks throughout. My friend's fish was perfectly fried but not greasy and the hush-puppies were binge-worthy. Fabulously fried with onion and delicious spices but surprisingly, also not greasy. We're definitely going to skip Denny's from now on and make this a regular spot for a good lunch. Also - they've got a fish market on the right hand side of the store. How cool is that? read more

Clean and well kept, is the first impression on this summer Sunday and traffic. Food came out. Staff was ok.Jenni is already raving about the oysters. The great news is that Jenni is really enjoying it and she can have a very prejudicial tooth. She said the oysters were "briny, silky pillows". The onion rings were good, but the breading, though delicious, could have been fried just a bit more. Overall, good food. First impress positive for the food. Under "my thin skin"section of this observation; when we arrived the place was slightly empty. The cashier may have said something to me that may have been a greeting. Nevertheless, no one was rude. Today I was lucky enough to catch the Korner open during the breakfast-lunch hours of Monday - Friday. I have been a customer since their opening and I like most everything offered, but always fall back to cheeseburgers and hand-battered onion rings. Today I again had that combination and must say that was one of the best cheeseburgers I have ever eaten, and I've been thru a few hundred. Stop in for a visit of the country store, restaurant, fuel, plus frozen Cajun specialities, and clean restrooms. Check them out, it will be worth the stop! read more

Combination gas station, convenience store, seafood market and super causal almost fast food cafe. I stop there every time I drive by and am hungry. consistently best fried shrimp i have every had. big FRESH shrimp with a very light tasty dusting of crust, perfectly cooked. side are solid but who cares. This is the worst excuse for a convenient store on the planet, alway have a problem with them.today I tried to buy propane cashier had no idea how to ring it up nor could he find the key to get a replacement bottle out of the cage. He then calls the manager and she hangs up on him. Have had enough problems at this establishment that if I ever go back there it will be a cold day in Hell!!!! Not a bad spot for a quick meal that's right off the road, especially if you are not a fan of fast food chains or 7-11 packaged meals. They serve a lot of fried food with some seafood options, ranging from $9-16/person for a lunch meal + fountain drink. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with their home made potato salad. The chicken sandwich is moist and fairly basic - only having chicken and some lettuce and mayo on the bun, but tasty none the less. The home made potato salad pretty good - distinct mustard taste is unique and appreciated here. They have po'boy sandwiches, which can get pretty expensive if you get a whole one. A half + side is good enough for most lunches. Overall, much better than you would expect for a place that's connected to a gas station. read more

Nothing but a gas station. We waited an extra 30 miles to reach Kathy's because of the "seafood market" and restaurant. both were closed on a weekend. We have never seen the seafood market open. Just update your website to say gas station. We recommend you use Prasek's or Buc-ee's. read more

It was juicy and tender and flavorful and my boyfriend had the fish tacos and red beans. They are probably some of the best red beans I have ever eaten. I have been curious about this place every time we have passed it on our way in to Houston. It is a gas station, a seafood market, and a restaurant. We looked at the seafood counter, and everything looked fresh and well priced. The gas station seemed to have a nice variety of snacks and drinks. We ate at the restaurant, I had a fish sandwich and picked macaroni and cheese as my side. The fish sandwich was okay, the macaroni and cheese was awesome. It was the highlight of my meal. My husband had the fish and shrimp basket. He thought it wasn't that great and that it was overpriced. I would consider going back if I was hungry when we were passing by, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

I had car trouble while pulling my brand new pop up camper near Sealy. Luckily, there was room at the Stephen F. Austin State Park and the Park Rangers had a good recommendation for a nearby mechanic (shout out to Riverside Tire & Automotive) who had me fixed up and ready to go within a couple of hours. While we waited, we had a delicious meal at Kathy's Corner. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and boudin balls, Lisa ordered shrimp basket with fried okra and Brenda & John order a shrimp po-boy with onion rings and mustard greens. We shared most everything and decided it was all super delicious! We tried to figure out how we could all meet there in the future because we had to make this place a part of our favorite go-to eating spots. I decided that if I went back alone, my order would be shrimp basket with onion rings. I'm not sure how I would leave out the fabulous cheeseburger, but you can only eat so much, you know. Be sure to eat here if you are passing through otherwise you are missing out on some yummy food. read more

I am adding Kathys to my list of stops on my trips to Houston. A great combination of restaurant, convenience store, and seafood market. I purchased a cooler-full of meat+seafood products that they make here (cajun chicken stuffed with shrimp for example). I will be cooking one up when I return home. We drove by this place on the way in town. Super friendly staff who told us about their Saturday live music and crawfish. The crawfish was pretty good. How they have their set up makes it fast and great team work. You go to one area to order and pay them by the time you get to the next area your foods done We decided to try it out. The seafood restaurant is surprisingly good. My favorite are the crab cakes, which are delicately fried and have a lot of crab. Even the chicken tenders in the kid's meal are tender and juicy. read more

We used to go a lot here before they temporarily shut down the restaurant due to the construction on I10. They reopened in July like they said they would so we went today. Prices are nearly double what they used to charge, but you do get double the amount of food, but that's just too much food for us to eat for lunch. No more regular menu combos anymore (sandwich, 1 side and a drink). If you want to sub out french fries for a side, it is now $1.99 to do that. The fried fish is is still great with thick filets and light crispy breading, but today the mac and cheese was grainy. Also our grilled fish and shrimp was too lightly coated in the spice mixture as compared to before. I cannot see paying over $50 for lunch for 3 people drinking tap water, so next time we will do some sharing. read more

Got the fried catfish and shrimp and crabcakes which were all pretty good. Onion rings were terrific! Fried pickles had potential but somebody put way too much salt flavoring on it making it hard to eat. The place is super clean, which is nice. It's a bit longer to get to if driving out (westward) from Houston on I-10 than if driving in (eastward) to Houston because of the few exits in this part of Texas, between Sealy and Katy, since it's located the eastbound side service road Update: went again, had the order of six fish tacos which were really good, shrimp, and chicken pieces, this time with the Cajun batter. Food poisoning! Yay! I should've expected that from a gas station seafood restaurant, people told me. But, this place was nice, and I felt bad for it. I went on a Thursday night around dinner time and there were about 12 people working here, and no one at a single of the 20 gas pumps, no one in the gas station, and no one in the restaurant. Just me and 12 staffers who I stood awkwardly around as they cleaned things that didn't need cleaning because no one had been there, and I waited a whole 12 minutes just to get two appetizers. The staffer who took my order couldn't answer basic questions about the food and pricing- like "are the boudain balls spicy" and "how many hush puppies are in an order and what's the price if I'm not adding on to an entree?" There's no way this place can stay afloat... which was disappointing to me until I ate there. I ordered a sweet tea, boudain balls, and an order of hush puppies. It was all cheap, which is good. The boudain balls, however, were the worst I've ever had, so after one small bite, I'd had enough. Sweet tea was good, not overly sweet. And the hush puppies were a tad on the burnt side, but weren't horrible, so I ate a few of those. An hour later, I'd regretted forking over about $10 here because I was super sick. We were on our way to Houston coming from Austin and decided to stop at a rest stop that has the same name as mine for fun.
