Food poisoning! Yay! I should've expected that from a gas station seafood restaurant, people told me. But, this place was nice, and I felt bad for it. I went on a Thursday night around dinner time and there were about 12 people working here, and no one at a single of the 20 gas pumps, no one in the gas station, and no one in the restaurant. Just me and 12 staffers who I stood awkwardly around as they cleaned things that didn't need cleaning because no one had been there, and I waited a whole 12 minutes just to get two appetizers. The staffer who took my order couldn't answer basic questions about the food and pricing- like "are the boudain balls spicy" and "how many hush puppies are in an order and what's the price if I'm not adding on to an entree?" There's no way this place can stay afloat... which was disappointing to me until I ate there. I ordered a sweet tea, boudain balls, and an order of hush puppies. It was all cheap, which is good. The boudain balls, however, were the worst I've ever had, so after one small bite, I'd had enough. Sweet tea was good, not overly sweet. And the hush puppies were a tad on the burnt side, but weren't horrible, so I ate a few of those. An hour later, I'd regretted forking over about $10 here because I was super sick. Needed a quick bite and man oh man what a great place to stop. The people are so friendly and the guy let me sample the crawfish étouffée and the gumbo and both were delicious. I ended up going with the gumbo and the boudin balls. My coworker ended up doing the Cajun catfish plate and the crawfish étouffée. We both are stuffed and even taking to go plates. I was very hesitant to order seafood at a gas station....But I am so glad I gave in and tried it. Best po boys in the Houston area by far! We are from the gulf coast and are accustomed to fresh seafood and fresh baked bread. What a pleasant surprise. We had oyster and shrimp po boys and they both were fantastic. I preferred the oyster but maybe that was just personal preference. We ended the meal with cinnamon pecan bread pudding which was fantastic. Lots of pecans and not overly sugarized! I do not often order bread pudding because restaurants do not usually make it as well as I do. Glad we ordered it as this one could compete with mine!! We will be back. OMG this place is delicious! I always pass on my way from San Antonio to Houston and finally stopped! Honey biscuits are fluffy and tasty and their broccoli rice and cheese casserole was yummy. Stopped in here for the first time on the way home to Houston from San Antonio. I got the 3 pc chicken tenders with fries and they were so good! Huge portions for not much money. Husband got the catfish and hush puppies, again a huge portion. He said it's one of the best catfish he's eaten. Lots of good comfort food and seafood choices. Friendly service and clean. read more

EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED!!! We read the reviews and went out of our way to try this place. The fried crawfish tasted freezer burnt and were pretty much nothing but batter. When we exchanged them for fried shrimp the shrimp were touch and burnt. Everything tasted like it had been fried in burnt grease. This is the second time I been to Kathy's Corner. It's time I chime in with my second great experience. I don't live close to here but being in Katy today I was just thinking about those giant fried Shrimp so checked the GPS and it's only 18 minutes west of Katy so onward bound I went. The Shrimp are extra large with a very thin breading. You have 2 choices of breading, Cajun or regular. The portions of fries were very large as well. The menu was large and easy to read hanging above with many good choices. The whole place is clean and welcoming. I really like this place. read more

Came is with no expectations since other places boasting crawfish boils have been eh at best and usually heavy handed on the spices. We got 3 pounds of crawfish in the crawfish boil plus a pulled pork sandwich meal for $20. The boil was spot on. Seasoned to be flavorful and not just burn your taste buds out. Drinks came included in both the meals. Pulled pork sandwich was amazing. Flavorful, juicy and packing a little heat. Came with slaw on the sandwich that just complimented it perfectly. Got the potatoe salad as the included side with my sandwich and it was the best I have had in a while. We will be back for sure since there is so much more on the menu I want to try. Like an oasis in the desert! The best fried oysters and fried shrimp - fine dining quality. The seafood baskets are filled with your choice of seafood, 1 side, hush puppies and a fountain drink. We loved the red beans and rice, and baked (creamy) macaroni and cheese as our sides. Oysters and shrimp were both crispy on the outside (light, cornmeal batter) - both tender on the inside. The oysters were juicy like I can't remember having before. The shrimp were steakhouse size - large, plump, almost the size of prawns. Just beautiful. Best Cajun seafood I've had in years! This was my second visit. The first was era year ago and it was pretty good. Not this time. We got boudan balls and it was like eating Texas crab stuffing. Couldn't detect the rice or meat. Then the shrimp. They were OK. Not the best but definitely the best thing we got. Then tbe was the chicken tenders which were anything but tender. Think tenders that were reheated in the microwave too long. The fries were equally on the tough side. Lastly the bread pudding. It too was dry. No way should this be called pudding. The two tablespoon of sauce couldn't make it moust. The dessert lacked flavor and sweetness and strangely it got worse with each bite. We waisted, $45 tonight. read more

From the highway, this looks like a 3/4 size Buc-ee's. When you enter, it's a very different concept. In the center of the place is a fairly expansive convenience store. To the left is a fast food restaurant and to the right is a fresh seafood market. The facilities are new and clean, making for a great quick stop on your road trip to Houston, but honestly, it's not a destination in and of itself. Having made several trips down I-10, this seems like the type of place that would fit perfectly in Louisiana, but doesn't seem to be found in Louisiana. read more

Don't stop here. Go to Buccees instead.The bathrooms here were filthy and disgusting. Urine was all over floor. Two of the toilets were clogged and toilet paper was all of the floor. The restaurant did not not have the health score posted. In it's place, was just a piece of paper that said health score available "upon request". That should have been a dead giveaway. The chicken sandwich was over cooked and tasteless. The fish sandwich was barely better. The boudin balls were fried to a crisp and barely edible. This was not a good experience. read more

Our third time coming to Kathy's Korner and will continue to stop every time we pass through. Extremely clean restrooms, always excellent customer service and great food. We've never had anything under or over cooked. The staff is social and plenty of choices for snacks, drinks, etcetera. Plenty of room to pull trailer through and places to walk dogs. Nice area outside to eat as well (though we did 't use it). Keep up the great work and clean facility! read more

We were really excited when they opened but food has been inconsistent on multiple visits, and the times we ordered to go we still waited 20-45 minutes because they didn't have things ready even tho we called ahead. I would skip this place next time around. read more

Went three times. First time, we had the mini burgers, they were good. I suggest only getting that. Next time, I had chicken tenders with red beans and rice. The beans and rice were gross. We couldn't eat it and it wasted ( wasted $$$ ). My husband had the chicken tenders and they were just okay. Nothing to write home about at all. Each time the girl working at the window ( same girl both times ) acted like she could care less about anything. Third time I come and I sit and wait for my order to be taken in the drive thru for about 2-3 minutes. Then decided to leave because .. Ridiculous. They spent so much money on the appearance of this establishment it is a shame they forgot about the quality of food and most importantly customer service. The food is super good! The service was exceptional. The kids ordered shrimp, cheeseburger, and chicken tenders. It also came with a cookie which tasted delicious. They finished the whole thing it was really tasty. I got the shrimp P.O. boy and it was full of shrimp. My husband got a sausage sandwich. Just had lunch at Kathys (used the drive thru) and I'm pretty disappointed. Ordered the 3piece fish tacos with red beans and rice and a side of mac & cheese. The "tacos" were more like burned fish nuggets on overly toasted and broken corn tortillas, with maybe a tsp of slaw and salsa that looked (and had the texture of) crawfish poop! They gave me 5 tacos, I'm assuming because the pieces were so tiny. The red beans and rice weren't bad, not the best but I'd probably order them again. Mac & cheese was super disappointing, comparable to a cheap frozen dinner (I'd actually say Stouffers frozen mac and cheese is WAY better). I'd think by now the kinks would be worked out and the food should be good but I'm overall disappointed that I wasted $10 on my lunch. I also went as soon as they opened so they were totally dead, so no excuse for the lack of food quality other than its just not very good. read more

Love this place! The exit is a bit confusing so pay attention to the exit number. I travel frequently and really wanted to check this place out. Very clean, the staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. The variety of products is on point and at reasonable prices. The back has an excellent rest stop! We are definitely going to stop here when we take the RV out with the whole family. The restaurant has a drive thru if you don't feel like stopping. Ample parking and all the amenities of the perfect stop. This place is soon to be the stop of all stops. read more
