We are back in Lancaster and Katie's Kitchen is a must stop for us. When we walked in I was so glad we did not have to wait. The service is always great! I ordered the Western Omelette with your choice of bread. I'm thankful they offer gluten free toast and it was really good. Plus, You must try their strawberry jam on your table. It is so good! My husband order the Southern Omelette and added crispy bacon with the sausage gravy. He ask to try a sample of each gravy and they were both really good. If you have not stop in at this gem you are missing a treat.

What a great mom and pop Amish diner. Came here for breakfast one morning and was not disappointed. Now the place gets crowded, so expect to wait. But once your seated the food comes out rather fast and is tasty. Everything we got was very good and had a slightly different take on traditional breakfast food. The sausage gravy was good and had a slight lemon zest taste. I also enjoyed the eggs and cornbeef hash. Kids enjoyed the pancakes and the coffee was nice and fresh. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely recommend if your visiting amish country! PS, there is a small playground outside, perfect for the kids to play on as you wait to get seated or after you eat.

One of our favorite restaurants in Amish Country. Located right near Strasburg and Sight and Sound. This place has FRIENDLY staff. They are very accommodating and will always put customers first. It gets crowded here, so be prepared to wait or go early! Get one of these 3 meals: Roast Beef over Brown Buttered Noodles, Pot Pie, Meatloaf. Prepare to indulge in the comfort food! The peanut butter spread is so good. Save room to take some home with you!

This was the recommended place by the restaurant we were trying to get takeout but they were too busy for takeout orders. Also finding great reviews, I decided to come here to order takeout. Upon arrival, the place was also packed. I the place has a diner feel and is worked by a group of Amish young women. I was directed to the cashier counter to place takeout order. The gal was little frazzled but was friendly and eager to help. I placed a to go order for chicken salad sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, grilled haddock, meatloaf meal & a slice of carrot cake. Overall service is great and food was amazing. The only complaint was that in the midst of hurry, I discovered that my carrot cake was charged but was not packed. I was so disappointed since I paid $8 but did not get my good.

Great Amish restaurant. Excellent service and food. It's all run and served and cooked by young Amish ladies. We highly recommend it.

Stopped by Katie's Kitchen and had an excellent breakfast. The sausage gravy platter and the cream chip beef were outstanding. Service was very friendly and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

Delicious food and pleasant staff! We come here a lot more than they want us too as we are a loud party of 14. But nonetheless they're the best place and one of our staples when we visit Lancaster !

Awesome dining experience! We ordered our wraps prior to visiting the Strasbourg Railroad. It was about 5 minutes from the railroad. Great variety of options to chose from on the menu. We had the bbq beef wrap and the chicken cheese steak. Both were flavorful, delicious and reasonably priced. There was about a 45 minutes wait to get a table. The staff were very friendly as well! Awesome experience!

The food was delicious--fresh, hearty, and clearly made from scratch. You can tell a lot of care goes into the cooking. Just a heads-up: be prepared to wait. It's a popular spot, and things can move a little slower, especially during peak hours. Parking was easy, with plenty of space available, which is always a plus. Overall, a great experience if you're in the mood for comforting food, warm service, and a laid-back atmosphere. Just bring a little patience and an appetite!

I believe they do for larger parties. Otherwise, no.

My husband and I looked for the best BBQ places in the area and landed on The BBQ Barn. A small and cute little barn sits in the corner of the plaza (on the right of Target). We ordered chicken and rib dinners with an extra pulled pork sandwich (we ordered way too much but needed to try it all!!). Dinner plates come with Cole slaw, a dinner roll, potatoes, and a whoopie pie. There is seating outside. We both agreed that the chicken may have been the best we have ever had. It was seasoned so well and perfectly cooked. The ribs came with bbq sauce on the side. There was a line, but service was quick and efficient. The grills are right in front and you can see the cooking happening! Inside the barn, I could see them rolling out fresh pretzels. They also had homemade root beer, which was very good! After we finished eating, I couldn't help but grab a vanilla ice cream cone to share with my dogs. They agree too, best soft serve ice cream we have ever had. Since getting home, we have already talked about how we need to plan a trip back to Lancaster to get more BBQ and explore the area a bit longer.

Full meal is a great deal that includes three small grilled red potatoes, a small coleslaw, roll, whoopie pie, and drink for $12.50-$14.00 depending on your meat and beverage choice. They sell "homemade" root beer that I tried and it was good and tasted like the original drove in A&W root beer except it lacked carbonation. We had a sandwich plus one full meal for about $20 and left a small tip. Note that this is a casual place with outdoor seating only, similar to a food truck. Thankfully the picnic table seating is mostly in the shade. I do recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner and noticed local Amish eating there while we had lunch. today.

It is the sort of landmark that promises something memorable, or at least something sweet. Inside, the place leans heavily into its role as a stop-off for visitors. Shelves are filled with faux-Amish goods, hex signs, and a cheerful assortment of bric-a-brac, along with shirts that seem very proud of nearby towns with names that invite, shall we say a certain kind of humor. It feels less like a bakery and more like a general store that wandered into a theme. The people working there are genuinely kind, and generous with samples, which is always a wise and welcome strategy. We tried a bit of the shoo fly pie, and in the past we've tried some cookies, root beer, and ice cream. They were all perfectly fine. Pleasant, even. But they did not distinguish themselves from the many other places in Lancaster County offering the same treats with equal or better competence. Nothing here is bad. In fact, it is all quite enjoyable in the moment. But it is not something I would go out of my way for again. Far less so when the tourist busses are around. It is a place you stop at because you are already there, because the windmill caught your eye, because someone offers you a sample and you say yes. Three stars, for doing what it does well enough, in a place where "well enough" is abundant.

My party of three visited this indoor food market where there were many options of pies, nuts, candy, pastries, baked goods, bread, pretzels, Amish quilts, but disappointedly I did not see any Amish wicker storage baskets. My desiderium was to purchase one large storage wicker basket with inner cloth lining, but to no avail as I am characteristically organized in both my living and workplace space environment. Or, purchase one large raffia storage box with lid. I also wanted the classic chocolate chip (no nuts) cookies, but to no avail. Surprising Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market is open and operational on July 4th, 2026 holiday. Customer service is mediocre. There is a large souvenir gift shop in the lower level via schlepping one flight of stairs. It is not ADA accessible. There is no stair climber available either. Ergo, for the mobility challenged take caution and there is very low headroom in the stairwell. My party of three has always patronized to support local souvenir gift shops as tourists - past and present. Personally, I believe in patronizing brick and mortar local souvenir gift shops drives the local economic tourism. We are non-Pennsylvanians. The souvenir T-shirts are hugely extortionate priced at $19.99. This gift shop reminisce nostalgia of Hallmark stores for mugs, decorative pens, bookmarks, post cards, magnets, pins, printed recipe books, small journals, wall calendar year 2027, et al. The costume jewelry was also hugely extortionate priced $19.99. I freely walked the aisles to browse and circled back. I purchased one post card of Amish horse buggy with a farm field $0.50, one Pennsylvania shape magnet $1.99, and one lighthouse shape coaster $2.99. I have a small collection of post cards from travels. I actually needed a coaster for my workplace desk as I am currently using a makeshift coaster of my own arts and craft creation. I love lighthouses for the long history, significance, contribution to navy and maritime industry, including aesthetic of nature scenic local landscape emitting a sense of peace. I did receive a sales receipt printed from a very dated cash register.
