Band area 'Open Mic' Night before the show.

Kat's Cafe is a fun and vibrant place. Open Mic night is a game-changer. Patrons sing along if they know the song. The band and MC are phenomenal. Lots of industry professionals show up, take the mic and show out. A great time. Drinks are excellent!

Kat's Cafe is an intimate spot with warm and welcoming customers and employees i.e the vibes/ambience here is EVERYTHING! We came here on a Thursday night and had the best time! One should note that quality live music is definitely a thing here. Additionally, if you have talent, you can surely bless the stage. Drinks are excellent and food portions are great. Most importantly it's all very affordable! I had the Sing that Song drink and the Cajun Shrimp pizza. The Cajun Shrimp pizza was fairly tasty, however, it wasn't given much Cajun per se. Overall, my vote would be for everyone to go that loves a good time and loves live music.

I always have a great time when I visit. The vibe is always feel like I'm at a family reunion. Our waiter was great and made sure we were good and the drinks kept coming. I didn't take a picture of my chocolate drink, but it was delicious!! Be aware that the menu is limited. I appreciate how amazing local artists are able to showcase their gifts with us. I will continue to be a loyal customer at Kat's.I love everything about this place.

The food, I tried the chicken fajita quesadilla, and it was perfectly done, from the amount of fajitas in the quesadilla, how well seasoned it was and how well it tasted with the chicken, sour cream and salsa, it was very flavorful. For the quesadilla, the cost was typical, it was $13.99 and came with salsa and sour cream. The service was okay, it took a while for the quesadilla to come out. The ambiance, it is a hole in the wall type of place for up and coming talent. They host open mic each Thursday and that was what I was attending.

Great vibe!! 10/10 this place is super chill and intimate. I can for an artist showcase on thanksgiving eve and I will definitely be back. The chicken Caesar wrap and drinks were amazing and Blue (the bartender) was an amazing host and one of the performers.

Singers are great but that DAMN photographer. Taking a zillion photos of the same scene and that awful flash. Some people have sensitivity to flash that causes migraines and seizures.

I'm everything live music amongst local neighborhoods & finally made my way to here to who's name says it all. Lack of a star for the horrible bar service, as I & another patron sat at the bar for over 15 minutes without a single hello or nod our way. Once the young lady came over we bombarded her with our orders. I ended up having a liquid meal as there's nothing for the V-Crew, minus a bland looking salad. With the heavy plant based options nowadays, it should be an easy note (get it) to add an item for the V-Crew on the slim menu as it is. There's a $10 Cover Door, $5 for Valet & the restrooms needed to be tidied up. Overall a quaint, hole in the wall (good way) music cafe located down the steps/hill from the Piedmont Avenue address...you really have to look for the hanging signage. I'll be back & will eat beforehand.

Although this review is new, best believe I've been coming here for YEARS!!! The vibe is always dope and the live bands/entertainment have always consistently been top notch. Pro Tip: Ask for the Lady Sings The Blues martini. (You're welcome). From the menu to the music to the patrons this will easily become your new go to if you're new to the area and you will desire to return if you're simply visiting. We love you Kat!!

Ask the Community - Kat's Cafe

    What's that parking like?

    Valet parking

    Can 18+ come inside?

    Yes

What are Saturday nights like? Surprising my hubby with a date and wanted to stop here. Thanks!

The atmosphere is wonderful. It is a bit cramped and you may bump into a few folks, but it is festive. If you get there in early, you can find free parking on the street, if not, you can valet park in the parking lot.

    Are desserts/coffee offered here?

No, although a slice of cheese cake or a signature cupcake would be nice.

    Drinks? Is there good wine?

I've had their cocktails, which are tasty. I'm sure you can't go wrong with a glass of wine. It's worth a try!!

Has anyone been here on a Wednesday night? If so, how was it?

Alexus, I went two weeks ago on a Wednesday. It was great, Eva performed, great night for live music.

Our daughter spent the first few minutes waving at the staff, and they genuinely lit up every time -- such a warm, welcoming vibe right from the jump. Starters We kicked things off with the she‑crab soup, and that's when we knew the meal was going to be special. Tons of rich crab flavor and chunks of crab. The crispy shrimp toast was another hit -- crunchy, savory, and a great pairing with the soup. We also ordered the Baker's Dozen oysters, chef's selection. All 13 were fresh, clean, and briny in the best way. Next up: the Spanish octopus, and honestly... top five octopus dish we've had. Cooked perfectly -- tender, melt‑in‑your‑mouth texture. The salsa macha added just the right amount of heat, and the marcona almonds brought a great crunch with the cilantro, lime, and mint brightening everything up. What a beautifully composed dish. We finished with the Halibut and Lady peas. The Halibut was topped with lobster and served with a lobster butter sauce, chives, and capers. Rich, buttery, flaky, and perfectly cooked. The lady peas (fava beans, asparagus, and a generous mound of blue crab) were another standout. So much flavor, but everything complemented each other instead of competing. One of those sides you keep looking for more of when it's gone. --- Overall Every dish was thoughtful, balanced, and executed at a high level. Service was warm and genuinely kind -- especially with our little one. 10/10 would recommend

The space is clean but not sterile: exposed brick, warm wood, and a bar that glows like it wants you to linger. *The food* skips the tired "burgers and mac" checklist. Think short rib agnolotti with smoked corn puree, charred broccolini with miso-garlic butter, and a fried chicken sandwich that somehow stays crisp under a jalapeño honey glaze. Portions are generous without being wasteful, and everything tastes intentional like the kitchen tested it 10 times before it hit the menu. *The cocktails are the real flex.* The menu changes seasonally, but the bar team leans into flavor over gimmicks. I tried the *Oaxacan Old Fashioned* with mezcal, mole bitters, and orange peel that's torched tableside. Smoky, slightly sweet, zero gimmick. My friend went for the *Cucumber Basil Gimlet* and said it tasted like summer in a glass. No sugary syrup bombs here.
