Honestly was at 7 leaves grabbing boba to take back SD and felt like I needed a snack as well. Saw this katsu sando place next door and ordered a sando Togo. Wasn't expecting much, but it was actually pretty flavorful. I got the chicken katsu sando with spicy mayo and I loved the kick it gave. Came for quick take out in between running errands. Ordering on the kiosk was easy and our food came out within 10 minutes. The waffle fries were really crispy and had a good seasoning. However, the caprice and berry Katsu sauce flavor was interesting.. the chicken Katsu was a little soggy making it not the best texture mix with mozzarella and tomato. Not sure if we would order the sando again but definitely want to come back to try the curry plate since it was recommended by another customer and the chicken in our sando was very juicy and tender. We also ordered the sausage rice cake, which has a crispy exterior to contrast against to soft chewy interior. It maybe spicy for some people, so be prepared :) The yubu pockets are enhanced tofu rice sushi with 8 flavors to choose from. Super friendly service. Tteokbokki with Katsu: Korea rice cake with Katsu. Slightly spicy. Black garlic ramen with Katsu: Recommend to ask the server to put Katsu on the side, so it does not get soggy in the soup. I came to katsu bar in irvine and wow I was impressed. The foods are soo yummy. I got teokbokki with fried portobello mushrooms, katsu rosemary pork katsu sandwiches , strawberry cream sandwiches, yubus with beef and crab meat, curry katsu plate with rice and curry, and the peach Momo kimono drink!! Starting off with the food, it was so delicious. The katsu chicken was breaded perfectly and overall the sando was very filling! Not to mention, the fries were amazing! I swear I've never had such fresh cut fried. They also have strawberry milk for sale, it's one of my favorite drinks. It's a strawberry puree and milk you just shake in the bottle. I ordered the chicken katsu curry and the chicken stayed crispy when I opened it at home and for at least a good hour and a half after too. The curry has three spice options. A nice new little restaurant to get your Katsu fix. Here you have a variety of ways to have your Katsu. From house specials to ramen, sandwich, Japanese sando, and plates, the world is your oyster with all the ways you can have it. You can also pick between pork and chicken for the Katsu. To order, you walk up to a Kiosk and place what you want to have whether for take out or dine in. I had craves the rosemary pork Katsu sando which comes with waffle fries. You get to select the sauces that it is served with and if you don't want fries you can substitute it for a side of curry sauce. The food itself in my opinion was just average. The pork Katsu itself was fried deliciously but as a half Japanese that has had this many times in Japan it was just ok. Usually the corners of the bread would be cut to give even texture consistency and the sandwich didn't have much of a contrast in flavor. Usually a Katsu sauce would be layered into the sandwich. The fries were cold and hard but that was alright but I believe a specialty sauce instead of 0.5 oz of ketchup would serve so much better for a place like this in my opinion. The service was great tho. Everyone there had a great attitude in working and I believe the owner himself was at work and doing his best. For service itself a 5 stars! They are new and I'll come back for their other items but hopefully a little creative change can be seen as it's little details that will set them apart from other similar concepts. (like specialty sauce, smooth corners on sandwiches, adding more contrasting flavors, frying the fries to time with the sandwich so it's served hot). Moreover, their curry was very flavorful and tasty! We also had their chicken rosemary katsu sandwich and yubu pocket set. Both were recommended by the staff and was a great choice! Must try their homemade organic strawberry milk (be sure to shake very well!) The place was nice and clean, had a kiosk to self-order which was very convenient. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I ordered the rosemary chicken katsu sando, strawberry sando and blackout chocolate cake. The chicken sando was good. The chicken was tender, sauce was flavorful and the bread was pillowy soft. The waffle fries that accompanied the sando were very crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and seasoned well - delicious! The strawberry sando's bread was dry on one side, which was a huge disappointment, considering the $12 price tag and popularity of the item. There's a cold case on the counter with pre-made sandos so that might have been the issue - not made to order. The blackout chocolate cake was dry and crumbly. This item is also pre-packed in the cold case. Maybe the case needs higher humidity to keep the items moist? Who knows but I feel like I wasted $18++ which gives me heartburn. Not sure if I'd come back. Mitsuwa might be a better option. read more

This is a great spot all around. The chicken and pork katsu are each very tender and beautifully fried. The serving size is substantial (we had leftovers to take home!). I loved the soft milk bread that the Katsu was on. Paired really well with the yuzu cabbage and mustard aioli. Very light but super filling.
