This place just opened about a month ago. You order from the kiosk at the front. Only a few tables inside but there are a bunch of outdoor tables. I noticed a lot of to go orders being picked up. Just a note, you can't take the daily special to go. You have to order dine in but you can take it outside and eat at the outdoor tables. The katsu sando (sandwich) was really good. The fish sandwich was good. The star really was the curry katsu plate. So good. The curry is spot on and the katsu is light and crispy. You also get macaroni saladl, arugula salad, and korean pickled radish. On Mondays the curry katsu plate is the special of the day so a little cheaper but you can't take it to go. Came for quick take out in between running errands. Ordering on the kiosk was easy and our food came out within 10 minutes. The waffle fries were really crispy and had a good seasoning. However, the caprice and berry Katsu sauce flavor was interesting.. the chicken Katsu was a little soggy making it not the best texture mix with mozzarella and tomato. Wow I can't believe I didn't come here sooner. I passed by so many times just thinking it's an ordinary katsu curry place. I ordered the Curry Katsu (spicy) and it was SO GOOD!! The Katsu itself was thin and crispy, and curry flavor was rich (reminds me of Vermont curry, which is my fav Japanese curry sauce), and they paired perfectly together. Rosemary Katsu Sando: 4.5/5 You have the option of a side of waffle fries or curry sauce; I opted for the latter since I also ordered a fried side. The white bread was soft and pillowy. The cabbage had a nice crunch and tang, without the sogginess that sometimes you get in coleslaw. The katsu also had a crunch with tender chicken on the inside. You get to choose what sauce and I ordered what I guessed was the standard sauce, which was the katsu berry. It had a subtle sweetness and coated the meat nicely without it losing its crunch. The sandwich was so delicious that I was midway through my first slice before I remembered I had katsu sauce to dip it in! And it was even more delicious with it. Would definitely order again. Mushroom Tempura: 4.5/10 These were divine. Usually I don't get a side, but I said YOLO. The tempura batter was thin and crispy, while the mushrooms stayed juicy and plump. There were some nice, big mushrooms, and there were a lot for $8! It came with garlic aioli on the side which complimented the flavor of the mushrooms. A nice new little restaurant to get your Katsu fix. Here you have a variety of ways to have your Katsu. From house specials to ramen, sandwich, Japanese sando, and plates, the world is your oyster with all the ways you can have it. You can also pick between pork and chicken for the Katsu. To order, you walk up to a Kiosk and place what you want to have whether for take out or dine in. I had craves the rosemary pork Katsu sando which comes with waffle fries. You get to select the sauces that it is served with and if you don't want fries you can substitute it for a side of curry sauce. The food itself in my opinion was just average. The pork Katsu itself was fried deliciously but as a half Japanese that has had this many times in Japan it was just ok. Usually the corners of the bread would be cut to give even texture consistency and the sandwich didn't have much of a contrast in flavor. Usually a Katsu sauce would be layered into the sandwich. The fries were cold and hard but that was alright but I believe a specialty sauce instead of 0.5 oz of ketchup would serve so much better for a place like this in my opinion. The service was great tho. Everyone there had a great attitude in working and I believe the owner himself was at work and doing his best. For service itself a 5 stars! They are new and I'll come back for their other items but hopefully a little creative change can be seen as it's little details that will set them apart from other similar concepts. (like specialty sauce, smooth corners on sandwiches, adding more contrasting flavors, frying the fries to time with the sandwich so it's served hot). Moreover, their curry was very flavorful and tasty! We also had their chicken rosemary katsu sandwich and yubu pocket set. Both were recommended by the staff and was a great choice! Must try their homemade organic strawberry milk (be sure to shake very well!) The place was nice and clean, had a kiosk to self-order which was very convenient. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I ordered the rosemary chicken katsu sando, strawberry sando and blackout chocolate cake. The chicken sando was good. The chicken was tender, sauce was flavorful and the bread was pillowy soft. The waffle fries that accompanied the sando were very crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and seasoned well - delicious! The strawberry sando's bread was dry on one side, which was a huge disappointment, considering the $12 price tag and popularity of the item. There's a cold case on the counter with pre-made sandos so that might have been the issue - not made to order. The blackout chocolate cake was dry and crumbly. This item is also pre-packed in the cold case. Maybe the case needs higher humidity to keep the items moist? Who knows but I feel like I wasted $18++ which gives me heartburn.
