A hearty serving of katsu, a bouncy bun, and not too oily. I really enjoyed my experience here! I came here on a Saturday morning with my partner to get some lunch, and the place was busy. We were planning to dine in, but all of the tables were occupied while we were ordering at the kiosk (there are only about five tables total). I ended up ordering takeout, although a table did open up and we were able to snag it. It seems like the majority of orders are to-go, which get blended in with the takeout queue, so you might be waiting a while. I was watching the pickup window as they were packing the sandwiches, and man, they are huge. It took them around 20 minutes to call out our food, with about 10 orders ahead of us (you can see your order number on the monitor above). We ordered the Tokyo Signature Classic Katsu with chicken breast and the Ohayo sandwich (their breakfast sandwich with bacon and egg) paired with beef katsu. We also got some nori fries to share on the side. My Tokyo Classic sandwich was delicious. It was nicely and lightly battered and not heavy at all. They were really generous with the meat, and it was juicy. If I had one complaint, it would be that I would have preferred it to be a bit more salted, but I dunked it in an extra side of miso mustard, so it was great. My partner's Ohayo sandwich with beef was meaty and paired well with the bacon and egg. It was a great wake-me-up meal. The fries were great as well. As a note, there are three different styles of fries you can get. We chose the nori fries this time, but we previously ordered the 12-spice version to-go. Between the two, we preferred the nori. We paired them with their curry mayo sauce, which added a nice savory component to the dish. Overall, this place is great. It is a bit on the louder side and can get pretty packed. The layout of the spot is not the most forgiving when it's busy, but regardless, the service was good and the food was tasty.

I honestly didn't quite get the hype around this spot, the food was just alright and the prices felt pretty steep for what you get. The menu centers around Japanese katsu-style burgers tailored to Asian flavor profiles. On the positive side, the burgers are quite large and packed generously with toppings. We ordered at the kiosk, and the service was quick--our food was ready in about 10-15 minutes, though this probably depends on how long the line is when you visit. We tried two different burgers. While they were decent, the Wasabi Burger was a bit of a letdown as it completely lacked that signature wasabi kick. We also ordered the curry fries, but they were nothing special. The restaurant itself is very small with limited seating. It definitely feels like it was designed to be more of a quick grab-and-go spot rather than a sit-down dining experience. Ultimately, I'm glad I checked it off my list, but the food didn't wow me enough to justify the price. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back unless I happened to be right in the neighborhood.

I love the concept, Katsu + burger + Gojira? Cool, clean looking decor with nice Art. Tasted the Tokyo original chicken and the Wabi-Wasabi beef with side of fried mushrooms. Wanted to try not fries. The taste and quality of the burgers are good. Few notes: The bun is a bit dry n doughy Needs more tonkatsu sauce Does it need that much cabbage? Gotta smash it down to fit in yo mouf The food comes out quick and the atmosphere is a cool Tokyo chill vibe. Maybe I'll try to customize the Sando a bit next time and see how it goes.

This is my absolute favorite burger spot where chicken is the main star of the show in the Santa Clara area. The katsu and burgers from this place are HUGE! I got the Godzilla attack which included jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, spicy mayo, and I added an egg and bacon. The first bite from this burger was phenomenal! Everything from the crispy katsu, to the shredded cabbage, to the jalapenos and the fried egg that was the kicker of the burger, was near perfection. The katsu was so fresh and the buns were oh so buttery. All in all, I love this place and would for sure want to get catering from this place as well!

Located around Santa Clara Koreatown, parking is plentiful and easy to find. The interior is small but there's ample tables for small groups. Ninja deluxe (5/5): absolutely delicious. The pork was crispy and wasn't too liquidy allowing the pork to stay crispy throughout. A nice touch was the gloves allowing you to keep your fingers and hands clean while you eat. There's water readily available which is always nice to see. I also really liked how there was an eta for your food. It was pretty accurate as well. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, Katsu Burger has some delicious food and good service

tl;dr More of a novelty than a genuinely good food experience. The food wasn't bad by any means, but I personally would not return. My husband and I came in on a Friday around 6 pm. It was already packed, as there is not much seating inside since it's a casual and small place. Thankfully, by the time our order was ready, a table had freed up even though we'd ordered to go. My husband got the Godzilla Attack burger, which is spicy since it's mixed with jalapeno and other spicy goodness, while I got the Kyoto Mushroom burger. Based on my quick sample of his and my own experience of mine, everything was fresh, saucy, but the experience didn't come together for me taste wise. It felt more like the ingredients were put together in burger form than a cohesive taste. I would have rather eaten an actual katsu meal vs. this burger innovation.

All meals come with disposable gloves! Really neat. Very Japanese!

Katsu Burger is very reminiscent of ordering in Japan, because you can hear the jingles of machines and automated female Japanese announcements. All they are missing is the entrance alert bells from konbinis. It would've made my dining experience even better if they did... It gives you that perfect blend of "I'm ordering fast food in Japan" vibe while giving the "holy cow price gouge" vibe of USA. Sort of that "in case you forget where you are." The Japanese immersion breaks as soon as they start asking for tip on the screen. Ah yes... we are so back in America... I ordered the Tokyo Classic with beef katsu which has an extra $1 surcharge compared to other proteins like chicken and pork. Bacon was my other add-on. With the chicken katsu nuggets and the matcha green tea milk shake, my order came out to something $37. The burgers came really thick and tall, and it's mostly because of the potato bun that is inflated like the USD, and it's packed with a mountainous debt of shredded lettuce. Bacon here is reminiscent of bacon elsewhere in the world: cooked just enough to rend the fat, and it's not crispy and salty. It's a good, fresh cut of bacon nonetheless, but it didn't add anything to the bourgeoning burger I was eating. The beef katsu is rather thin compared to other places I've had so to end the economy analogy, this is the shrinkflation everyone is talking about. It's like they tenderized a flat iron steak and fried it. The sauce provided help with moistening each bite, but alas, it felt like an overpriced burger. Not much of a crunch from the fried patty, and there's a bit of toughness with each bite. The most disappointing part of the meal was the Banzai Bites. It's all white meat, and the breading isn't crunchy at all. No seasoning in that breading giving a rather bland bite everytime. Because they use white meat, the chicken somehow was dry yet plump and bouncy, a rather impossible combination I couldn't fathom, but they somehow miraculously pulled that off. To make this paltry poultry snack edible, the accompanying sauce is needed. Be careful what you choose, because like in all video games, your choice affects the ending. I got this with the tonkatsu sauce, which is basically your standard Worchestcherchercherchercherchercher- The highlight for me was the matcha green tea milkshake. Plenty of matcha flavor and on a hot day a rather enjoyable treat! My friend ordered the choco mint milkshake which unfortunately isn't minty enough. It felt more like a cookies n cream with stingy amounts of choco mint ice cream in. It's like the Hint Water of the choco mint milk shake. Nothing to hit home about. Is it overpriced? Yeah. Would I come back? I want to give the other stuff a try, so maybe. I want to give it another chance, or else I will fall in disarray being duped from those iG influencers....

You can hardly taste the Kats.

Katsu puts the F U in fusion. So it's a classic American hamburger with the crunchy, deep fried technique of Japanese katsu. It didn't have the crunch I expected, nor did I think the process locks in the juices. But, I did love the Japanese flavor profile. It was stacked with Kewpie-soaked, whisper thin, raw cabbage that was like a shredded wheat meets cole slaw, in a good way. It's far superior to lettuce (exception: arugula). The savory, sweet tonkatsu sauce elevate as the sandwich. Plus the fries, though limp, have Japanese curry and nori flakes, and the sauces (spicy mayo, honey miso, and a rich yellow curry) really make it unique. They also have yummy fried mushrooms, and because they are Japanese, they give your kart a quick boost of speed. All that, plus chicken bites and a not-cold-enough $3 can of Diet Coke came to $38 on the kiosk. The downside is that they pump the tiny spot with loud, bouncy pop music and they don't have fountain drinks, so if we return, Letsa To-Go!

I came by for a second shot a few weeks later. The owner was kind enough to send me a promo code to use to give them another visit after I wrote my initial review. This time I got the Tokyo Burger and matcha shake. The Tokyo Burger wasn't bad, definitely preferred this over the Kyoto mushroom melt burger that I got last time. It was less heavy and had a better balance of ingredients. The matcha shake wasn't great, it was filled with unmixed matcha powder (see picture) and was too thick to drink. I appreciate their customer service though and their staff are very efficient.

What a wonderful addition to the plaza -- katsu burgers please! This place serves up quick Japanese inspired burgers fast. The menu has a good variety of options for all patrons -- proteins such as tofu, pork, chicken and beef! ORDER/SEATING Kiosk order and pick up your order at the counter. One piece of feedback is the limited indoor seating. We arrived around 6 or 7PM and managed to secure the last available table. It would be nice to have outdoor seating options. SERVICE Everyone was very friendly and welcoming including the managers/owners. FOOD My partner and I ordered a burger each and fries to share. The portions are MASSIVE. I finished my burger but barely touched the fries. My partner finished most of the burger. Honestly, it's a good place to share a burger and fries! -Tokyo Classic - Katsu Curry Both burgers were absolutely delicious and crafted with exquisite detail. I highly recommend this Japanese-American fusion burger spot for a satisfying experience.

A legendary Seattle-born spot that's redefining the American burger with a Japanese fusion twist, Katsu Burger has officially arrived in Santa Clara. They've perfected the mashup by taking hand-formed patties seasoned with miso and panko-breading them for that signature deep-fried crunch. It is the perfect balance of a juicy burger and a crispy katsu in every bite. They offer a wide variety of protein options, including house-ground beef, pork loin, chicken breast, and organic miso tofu. Since every order is fried fresh, the katsu stays incredibly crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside. If you're a fan of unique fusion eats, this spot is definitely worth a visit. Randomly found this place while trying to get dinner 1 day. Looks like a Japanese style fast casual spot. You order at the kiosk and they have some seating inside. All the burgers look so good. We got the Tokyo and Kyoto burgers with nori fries and mint chocolate shake. The food came out pretty fast. The burger and fries were really good, but way too much food for me. I think it's plenty to split with someone. Only tried the beef katsu this time. Can't wait to come back to try the other proteins

Love going to Katsu Burger! All of the burgers are large and very filling, and they provide you with gloves to help keep your hands clean. Both the beef and pork katsu are delicious, though my favorite is probably the latter. They also offer vegetarian options with tofu as the protein. I wish that the fries were a little more crispy, but I liked how you could get them with Japanese mayo to dip in. Unless you're famished, I would say you don't need to order any sides with your burger in order to feel full. The restaurant has a couple kiosks near the front for you to place your order. They only have a handful of tables inside, so be aware if you plan to come during peak meal times. I hope to try one of their burgers with chicken katsu next time!

Living with multiple food allergies can make eating out stressful and, at times, discouraging. Many restaurants try their best, but it's rare to encounter someone who goes as far above and beyond as Jason did. From the very beginning, Jason took my allergies seriously. Rather than treating them as a simple modification request, he took the time to understand my specific concerns and personally communicated with the chef to ensure every precaution was taken. What impressed me most was that he didn't just ask once and move on--he followed up multiple times throughout the process, making sure every item I received was prepared as safely as possible. His level of attention and care gave me confidence that my health and safety truly mattered. Jason's kindness was evident in every interaction. He patiently answered questions, verified ingredients, and double-checked preparation methods. Instead of making me feel like my allergies were an inconvenience, he made me feel welcomed and valued as a guest. That level of empathy means more than people without food allergies may realize. The extra precautions taken in the kitchen were remarkable. Jason coordinated with the chef to ensure separate cooking methods were used whenever necessary and that steps were taken to minimize any risk of cross-contact. My food was packaged separately and clearly distinguished from the rest of the order, which immediately showed me how much thought had gone into keeping my meal safe. Even more touching were the notes left on the packaging specifically for me. Those small details demonstrated a level of personal care that is incredibly rare in the restaurant industry. Because of my allergies, my meal options were understandably limited. I ordered a plain burger with sautéed green beans, while my friends enjoyed several different burgers from the menu. Although my meal was simple, it was prepared perfectly. The burger was cooked exactly as requested, allowing the quality of the meat to stand on its own, and the green beans were fresh, tender, and flavorful. Most importantly, I was able to enjoy a restaurant meal with confidence instead of anxiety. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their burgers as well, commenting on the flavor, quality, and preparation. It was wonderful that everyone at the table could have a great dining experience, despite having very different dietary needs. What touched me most from this visit isn't just the food--it's the care. Jason's willingness to communicate with the chef, verify ingredients, package items separately, use special preparation methods, and personally check in throughout the process transformed what could have been a stressful experience into an enjoyable one. For those of us with food allergies, being able to order food safely is something we never take for granted. Jason made that possible. Exceptional customer service is often defined as exceeding expectations, and Jason exceeded mine at every step. His professionalism, compassion, attention to detail, and genuine concern for guest safety are truly commendable. I am incredibly grateful for the effort he put into accommodating my allergies and ensuring I could enjoy a meal without worry. Experiences like this create loyal customers, and Jason is a perfect example of how kindness and care can make a lasting impact.

You can order a regular size burger called the Bigi, or their mini option where you get two mini burgers of your choice. You can also make it a combo with fries. I ordered the Hawaiian burger. It was listed as spicy, but for me it leaned more on the sweet side. The bun was a bit dry but not crumbly. Overall, the flavor was just okay for my taste, so I would give my burger 3 stars. Mini me ordered the mushroom mini and thought it was ok. My husband got the garden burger and actually liked it a lot. Water is available from the soda fountain. You just need to ask for a plastic cup. What really stood out was the cleanliness. Even though this is a casual burger spot, it is one of the cleanest burger places I have been to. Because of that, I would give the place 4 stars overall. Definitely appreciated the clean environment.

The fries are never good in take out as they get soft and soggy. I'm not a fan of coleslaw either. I got an American burger, it has a slice of American cheese, beef patty, pickle slices, tomato, onion and lettuce, all the normal stuff. Unfortunately the patty was lacking flavor and a bit overcooked. I wish the seasoning was stronger. The whole meal tasted bland, hence the disappointment.

They were packed during the games, though the line moved fairly quickly. If ordering only beer, orders were placed directly at the bar. The beer selection was displayed on screens above the ordering counter, though there were additional ciders and sours available upon request. Food came out quickly as the grill was constantly being reloaded. After ordering, I was given a pager that buzzed once everything was ready. The pick up station was located near condiment counters lined with half opened bottles of hot sauce, mustard, and mayonnaise. I did appreciate the ketchup variety, which included original, chipotle, and curry options. *Dragonfruit, Passionfruit Sour: pleasantly acidic and fruit forward. This unfortunately came from a can rather than the tap. I was offered a chilled glass, which I accepted, though the can itself was not refrigerated so the final pour ended up disappointingly lukewarm. *Onion Rings: disappointing batter execution. They were already half soggy despite us eating them immediately. The coating lacked airiness and everything had a one dimensional chewiness. I also wished both the batter and onion carried more sweetness and developed flavor. *Sweet Potato Fries: suffered from the same sogginess as the onion rings. The portion was generous for $8, though these largely served as a vehicle for the various ketchup options rather than standing on their own. Oddly enough, the women's bathroom was far cleaner than the dining area itself. Our table appeared unwiped when we sat down, and the sauce station was noticeably greasy. I ended up avoiding most of the condiments because the bottles had a visible and tangible film coating them. Unfortunately, I felt somewhat ill after finishing the meal and definitely noticed the effects afterward. St. John's has a strong beer program and great game day atmosphere, but the cleanliness issues were difficult to overlook. The entire space could benefit from a much more thorough deep clean. On top of that, the underwhelming quality of the appetizers made it hard to justify returning when even the simplest menu items lacked proper execution.
