What a cute place! And they have very nice, friendly wait staff. The food was pretty good - not the best Chinese bbq I've had, but it was solid. As someone who's only had this a few times, this restaurant goes lighter on flavor. And everything comes with spice - so if you've can't take spice, this will be a tough place to eat at. Maybe because they're so busy, but some of the dishes were overcooked or not grilled nicely. Highlights: Any tofu or bean curd dish Fish tofu Stinky tofu Eggplant Bean curd noodles Takoyaki THEIR DESSERTS! Omg, cream filled balls and custard filled rice cakes. Had such a great experience at Hearth BBQ! The Apple & Kale Fiber Fruit Drink was surprisingly refreshing and honestly one of my favorite drinks here. The sweet and sour chicken rack was so flavorful and unique!! I wasn't expecting it to be this good! Usually I'm used to the ones that are super spicy! First time here and I am guessing it's their soft opening. It's rare to see a bbq skewer place that has takoyaki on the menu...that was a plus, the taste & texture was absolutely delicious. We ordered a variety of food like lamb, beef, chicken skin, chicken heart, pork belly, chicken gizzard, chicken cartilage, pork intestine skewers. We also got the smashed cucumber to ease up on the spices and helps cleanse the palate and ease on digestion. We got the grilled scallops, two orders of it because it was so damn good. And lastly the whole large squid, my friend pointed out that it could use a bit more seasoning or sauce to it as all the sauce were directly at the tentacles. Hearth was just soft opened days ago replacing a predecessor in the same premises. We decided to try it out as we always liked BBQ food. Food was ok. Bbq items lacked cumin flavor. The version of the spice mix I liked requires a good balance of pepper, cumin and sugar. Place was stylishly designed in soft color hues, clean, spacious and comfortable. New amenities. Bathroom was also clean. Service was polite and friendly. Order however was a bit disorganized. We had a couple of orders that didn't show up; at the end we canceled them. The skewers unfortunately had a pretty noticeable gas-like smoky taste that overpowered the seasoning. It came through clearly and was consistent across all the batches that arrived, so it wasn't limited to just one skewer. That aspect wasn't great and took away from what could have been a solid dish. This is almost as good as GAO's BBQ, and I'd probably make Hearth my go-to spot with a few small changes. Hearth's strengths: less oily skewers and a much calmer, more enjoyable atmosphere. GAO's strengths: cumin and spicy seasoning on the side, a softer style of tofu skin, and a larger skewer selection (especially beef tongue and chicken). I'd love to see Hearth add: 1. More cumin on the A Choy and green bean skewers (and offer cumin and spicy seasoning on the side so customers can adjust to their taste). 2. A softer tofu skin option like GAO's. 3. Beef tongue and chicken skewers (without soft cartilage). There have been a few times I've chosen GAO's simply because I could customize the seasoning and preferred their tofu skin. If Hearth made these additions, it would easily become my go-to BBQ spot and I'd change my rating to 5 stars. read more

Don't get me wrong, the food was pretty good. But it took them 3-5 business days to get each skewer out to us. We ordered around 10 variants of skewers and we were there for around an hour and a half. The staff kept getting confused about our orders too. We weren't even full by the end of it but I did not want to order and wait even more. The cherry on top was that it took them another 10 minutes to get us the bill. good but also not the best. i personally think that their flavor is yummy but the portion they give is not worth it at all! their entrees are extremely small for like $20, not worth it and skewers are small and not meaty enough. additionally items there are cold/lukewarm, not hot at all which they need to improve on. additionally waited a long time to get our food delivered to us. i think they do table by table rather than making the food for different tables than bringing it out to them as other tables would get multiple deliveries while we get none, maybe that's why service is slow. but service was attentive once we got our food as they asked multiple times after how we liked the food and what they could improve on. read more
