Passing through San Ramon on a Saturday morning, and used Yelp to find a good place to enjoy one of my very favorite breakfast dishes, Eggs Benedict. Katy"s Korner came up, and hubby and I decided to give it a try. I'm really glad we did! We both had the Icelandic Benedict, and it was cooked to perfection. The food is decent, above average even, but nothing to write home about. Given the price, which lowers the value, I don't think this is the best place for brunch -- too bad there's no other legitimate brunch locations. They do have really yummy maple syrup & french toast though. What really stands out at Katy's Korner is its service and atmosphere. Everyone is extremely pleasant and really makes you feel like you've entered someone's home to have brunch. The drinks and food come out quickly, if you ever needed more attention they don't hesitate to help. Service is great. The best part of Katy's Korner is really its atmosphere. I have heard that this place served a great breakfast, so I wanted to try it out for myself. I was very impressed! It is small inside, but very warm and cozy feeling. Everyone was very nice and friendly. There were plenty of items on the menu to choose from. Too pricey and bad service The food is good. The interior is cozy and cute. Not the best place for vegetarians/vegans - to get the garden burger, which is just a veggie patty and lettuce and onions and tomato, was $12, same as these huge beef patties. But the veggie patty itself is not worth that much, so it's too pricey. We went on a Friday afternoon that turned out to be really busy. As we were close to finishing our food, I told one of the cleaning help (in Spanish, so my dad wouldn't understand) that it was my dad's birthday and asked if they could sing or bring a little something, anything. 10 minutes passed by and our waiter still hadn't come by, not even to pick up our check. When I asked the man again, he said "I told your waiter but there's a lot orders right now. I'll tell him again." 5 more minutes passed (15 minutes total) and the sympathetic man said "you should go up to pay and you can ask him up there." While my dad paid, I managed to get the attention of the waiter, who looked blank, and mentioned it's my dad's birthday. He said he had told them to bring something to our table, and when I didn't know what to say because we were about to leave, he walked away. No apology, no packing up a dessert, not even a "sorry about that, but happy birthday". As a breakfast joint, this place is good. They do have an unusual number of benedicts on the menu. And, some other favorites to boot. We were hesitant to check in as the number of people standing outside was pretty intimidating. But, it turned out that they were all groups of 4-6-8 people. So, our 2-top came up super quickly. The place is larger than it appears from the street. Service was quick, and very friendly. The atmosphere near perfect. Everyone was loud and 'happy' on this particular day. Gave the place a good vibe. I will say that Katy's food is good, but not something you will be talking about for years, or months, or probably even days. It's breakfast for pete sake. There isn't much that comes on the sandwich - bread, turkey and lettuce - and I wasn't a big fan of the soup options. Favorite breakfast location! THE best eggs benedict you'll taste. I am not the only one who thinks this as well. It can get crowded here on a Sunday, especially after the church crowd comes over and are ready to eat. So plan on waiting for a table if you stroll up for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. The food here was ok. I've had worse and I've had much better. I normally would have given this place 3 stars but based on their service I knocked it down to two stars. They were very busy and looked like they were short staffed. The two stars is for their response to another customer. Since they were so busy they were seating ppl outside. There was one table with a bench that a lady was sitting on. It broke while she was sitting on it and she fell to the ground. The staff response was horrible! The other customers were helping more than the staff. The lady ended up coming into the restaurant to let the owner know, and the owner's response was "oh my goodness!" Thats it!! It wasn't until the lady came back in and asked for a rag that the owner said to hold on and she would send someone out. The owner should have dropped everything to make sure that customer was taken care of! It was very easy to find off 680 and absolutely adorably decorated. Service was a little slow, but nothing terrible. I ordered hot tea and was given a nice bin full of varied selections - most places just give you Lipton orange pekoe [which is okay] but I do like to choose. They had about nine different types of eggs benedict - amazing! I got the traditional kind, which had shaved ham instead of Canadian bacon, and it was much more flavorful. My husband had been here a few times and so he decided to bring me here to enjoy brunch at Katy's Korner one Saturday. The restaurant is a nice local spot that has a warm diner vibe with fun decor that makes you feel at home. We were debating getting mimosas but decided to go with coffee (which we learned when paying the bill was pricey at about $4/person). My husband opted for his usual corn beef hash and I opted for the french toast (added berries) and eggs/bacon/sausage on the side. I was excited to try this place and when our food came out was disappointed by the small looking portion sizes. Portions aside, the french toast and bacon were delicious, the sausage, unfortunately, came out cold and so I had to wait for my waitress to swing by our table to let her know about this. She immediately apologized and told the kitchen where they prepped some additional sausage - a nice gesture but still unsatisfying based on the initial experience. We were one of the few couples sitting at the back of the restaurant so it felt like there were times when our waitress forgot about us. Those around us seemed to be enjoying their experience. I'm not sure that I would return, but it's a good spot to bring a big group of people or enjoy a brunch outdoors, so perhaps there might be a day where I return. read more

This place is usually decent but today the food and service were beyond horrible!!! I ordered a cheeseburguer and it came with no cheese. When I asked to put cheese, the server said I had not ordered cheese. Seems like the server does not know the rule of not arguing with the customer. He took it back and slapped a slice of cheddar on top of the burger that did not even melt!!! I tried eating but couldn't. It was not even warm! I asked the server nicely if I could order an omelette cause my burger was burned and not even warm. He replied saying it had just come out of the grill. Wow!!! He just threw the check on the table and to my surprise he had charged for that disgusting burger that I did not even touch!! I went to the cashier, explained the situation and the burger was voided. We've been looking for good places to eat in San Ramon and this place has an amazing breakfast. The kids options are perfect size. My husband couldn't decide what to get and the lady taking our order helped with tremendously and he was not disappointed. I ordered Crab Benedict and when I saw the hollandaise sauce I knew I made a big mistake. The sauce was a bright orange, like melted Velveeta, but was so thin and watery...disgusting! My husband ordered eggs with Italian sausage. Everything was cold, especially the potatoes, and they only gave him one piece of "toast" that wasn't toasted at all. The sandwich was average and the soup was only warm at best but fabulous. All and all the experience was good but nothing to write home about.
