Make sure that you check the time. Server said it was happy hour pricing when we arrived, but after we ordered, she said happy hour was still 15 min away so we had to pay full price. Not cool, but I should have checked the time and not relied on the server who was not wearing a watch. Burger is still great and got more fries this time so that was a plus. The nachos are still a pass - a hard pass. This is the third time that I have tried them and they are not good. I really want them to be good. Beers are great. Burgers are great. Fries are great. We stopped in for lunch & drinks. We ordered two flights of beer to sample the majority of beers on tap. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, the fresh caught mahi-mahi fish and chips, and the fresh caught mahi-mahi fish tacos. We ordered one grilled taco and one battered taco. The grilled taco was definitely the best! We also ordered the kalua pork nachos, they came in a bowl with all the ingredients piled on top & the meat was bland. The nachos should have been served on a plate as there was no ingredients or cheese at the bottom of the bowl & only plain chips. The nachos were a disappointment but the rest of the food was delicious. They had a good selection of beer & all were tasty! If you stop in for food, I would definitely recommend the grilled fish tacos!!! read more

My fave! Pillow Talk Hazy IPA will make your tastebuds so happy. Go after 3:00pm and get you a pizza! They are delicious. One of my fave places on island; we eat here a few times a week. Staff are always friendly and I love that they can express themselves and not look like cookie cutter humans. Doesn't matter if you sit on patio or inside-- you gonna have a good time. We happened to wander around this area of Kauai on our way back from Waimea looking for restrooms and ended up really loving it. The food and service here was great and we'd definitely visit again next time we are in Kauai. We ordered the fish sandwich and the papaya salad with fish. The fish sandwich was cooked to order and done medium, and my partner thought the fish was very fresh and well-seasoned. The market price for the fish was $18 that day. The papaya salad was also very fresh and the dressing was very tasty yet light. We thought that the serving of papaya was very generous and also presented well. The fries were also very fresh, although the serving of fries that came with the fish sandwich was a little small. Our only complaint is that we initially thought we wanted to sit indoors, but as soon as we got in there, it was really hot inside, so we decided not to do that. There was ample seating when we got there at the weird hour of 4:30, but I noticed throughout the night as more people arrived, they were asking people if they had a reservation, so that is something to consider. My wife and I stopped in here at Port Allen after a dinner cruise to have a drink while waiting for the crowd to clear out and to catch a rideshare. By 8:30 p.m., there were no Lyft or Uber rides available, and no taxi services in sight. The bartender, Meghan (her name was on the receipt--we forgot to ask!), went above and beyond. She offered to give us a ride back to Poipu after her shift and even comped us a couple of drinks because of the situation. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome, even though we had clearly made a mistake by not planning our transportation ahead of time. The food is not very good. Would rate a 2/5. The portions are decent but the food lacks flavor. All of the meals in my group were not good. Also, one person did not like their food and therefore didn't eat it. When she asked to get it taken off the bill, the waiter said they don't do that there. Stopped in for a quick drink and the bartender with the blonde hair working on 12/26 at 1:30pm was super rude so we left.

We came here to meet our friends from back on the mainland. Our party was for 12 people. We got out drinks and pupus in. No problem- beer was good. Did the QR menu thing as our server said it was the most updated menu. Tried to order shrimp scampi, but the server came back like 10 min later to say they don't serve it anymore even though it's on the menu. He said the menu hasn't been updated. Then he came back and said they were out of kale on the kale Caesar salad, so they subbed in romaine. Then we ordered a margherita pizza to sub for the scampi. About 15 min later, He came back and said pizza would be another 30 min... we mildly complained. So he rushed it to 15 min... however it came out with no red sauce on the pizza. What food we did get was just ok. Lots of issues with the ordering and service. We had to make a food stop for one of our party. Not a good night for our party. read more

During our second day in Kauai my wife and I decided that we wanted to explore the island and grab some lunch. We left our Airbnb in Poipu to make the 20 minute trek to Kauai Island Brewery and Grill. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Savannah who quickly seated us. Prior to ordering food, my wife and I ordered two beer flights that contained four beer samplers each (the samplers are pretty big). Since neither one of us are beer experts, we were grateful that Savannah was kind enough to pick the beers for us (from her list of personal favorites). After consuming our flights, we ordered the Calamari strips, fish and chips (for me), and quarter pounder burger (for my wife), and a Buffalo Chicken Pizza (for dinner that evening). For drinks, we ordered Koloa Rum MaiTai and the Koloa Rum Dark Guava Sour. We were completely satisfied with the taste of all of our food options, and loved the MaiTai (so much that we both had two)! Savannah did a great job of not only checking in with us and the other patrons, but also with taking some time to chat and get to know my wife and I. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Kauai Island Brewery and Grill, and definitely recommend that you check it out if you're looking for good food + drinks in a friendly environment! read more

When we walked in, we asked for a table for two, we got seated, and the host came back a minute later and she said that they are getting a "lunch rush" and we need to sit somewhere else. They moved us over to the high seats by the rail, meanwhile, they had set two other people down to the table where we were sitting at. We never said that we did not want to eat so I don't understand what was the mistreatment about and why they made us get up from the table and they had let two other customers sit down there, who came in after us. I accidentally ended up here and I don't regret it one bit! I was trying to get to their second location, but mistakenly had the GPS route me to here. However, the food and service and overall vibe more than made up for it! Our server was great at helping with beer suggestions. I told him what I typically like and he recommended something based off that. He also brought out samplers of other options without me even asking! The fish tacos and pulled pork were amazing. The tacos were giant and crispy while staying moist. The pulled pork came with slaw on the side with us to put on ourselves in case we didn't like it and so it didn't make the bun soggy. My friends and I came here after a long day of exploring, looking to have a quick early lunch - and that's exactly what we got. This brewery is fairly large so there was lots of seating available inside, with a laid-back, casual atmosphere and plenty of TV screens (lots of people watching the basketball game). Ordering drinks took a little while because the servers were switching over shifts, but otherwise the service was very smooth. I'm not typically a beer drinker so I got a glass of red wine (very decent), but all my friends got beer flights, which were great and super reasonably priced. For food, I got the Kauai Beef Sliders, which I loved. They ask you how you want the meat cooked and what kind of cheese you prefer, and the portion size was perfect. I really enjoyed the crispy fries this came with too. My friends ordered the KIBC Nachos, Crispy Calamari, Pupu Combo, and Chicken Bites. All the food came out very quickly after ordering and we had zero complaints - just very solid bar food. When I'm dining out with Grandma Coni, Kauai Island Brewery is always a go-to spot. She loves bar food and says the French fries are the best on island. She literally tells everyone she meets. Have had some great luck over the past few years here with excellent burgers cooked to temp and fantastic fried chicken sandwiches (Gma's favorite). After last night's experience, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The service is absolutely terrible. The staff here is the worst on the island, and their attitude is downright awful. It's clear that no one is happy working here, and you can sense it the moment you step inside. The only reason we even stopped by was the pizza. It was great! It took a while to get, but it was worth the wait. While we were waiting, we witnessed an older man rudely ask a young lady to get off her seat so that another lady could sit. It was shocking and disheartening to see such behavior in the service industry. We thought it was so unusual that we decided to leave to make sure we wouldn't be asked to leave ourselves, especially since there were open tables around. I have never left a Yelp review before but the service I just experienced was so bad and unwelcoming I want to spare others. To start, the ONLY reason I added a second star is because the beer is good. The gentleman who served us didn't share his name but was dark haired with a goatee, and worked the afternoon of 2/22 at around 1 PM. My fiance and I had just finished a catamaran snorkeling tour which was the BEST tour we've ever been on. Having a deep love for Kauai and the local small businesses, and wanting to support them, we stopped in to Kauai Island Brewing for a beer since it was a trip highlight on our trip to Kauai the previous year. We ordered our drinks, the man who was helping us brought them over and we gave him a credit card to close out, all seems fine, and then in a split second a fly flew into one of the beers as he was running our credit card. When he brought back our credit card, thinking it wouldn't be a big deal to replace the beer we notified him of the fly. Without asking us first what we felt comfortable with, he took a straw and tried to fish out the fly. Then as he was doing so, asked us "are you the type of people to make me get you another beer". Feeling judged but not wanting to drink something unsanitary we said "yes". He reluctantly brought it over and then didn't check with us/neglected to serve us the rest of the time we were at the brewery which was almost an hour. The sad thing is we were hoping the beer at one of our familiar favorites would be a cherry on top to our perfect day. Instead we received extremely poor service which almost ruined our day. Word to the wise, if you enter this establishment, you will be guaranteed good beer (depending on your taste), but you will not be guaranteed good service. So disappointed.... read more

He helped recommend everything because they have a ton of choices. I had a beer flight of the Seltzer, Lilikoi Ale, Pillowtalk Hazy IPA, and the Kauai Coffee Stout and they were all amazing (and I don't usually like IPAs!!)!
