Kawaii Café has a cute vibe and the coffee was decent overall, but definitely not worth the price and it didn't taste anything like the Vietnamese coffee you'd normally get at Vietnamese restaurants. I really want to support small local shops, but this place just isn't for me. Two pastries and two coffees came out to $37 with tips. The pastries were good, but I'd honestly recommend offering a smaller, more affordable version. The coffee jelly tasted nice but I literally got only four tiny pieces. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not something I'd go back for.

Kawaii Cafe - Warning, ridiculously sucker-priced Vietnamese Coffee!!!

Rip off!!! The owner/investors of this new Kawaii Cafe need to rethink their business model!!! Walked in to check it out! The basic, Original version of their "specialty" Vietnamese Coffee is $9 for a 16 Oz. iced or 12 Oz. hot! More specialized drinks of those sizes even hit $12. Did not see anything less! WOW! Seriously? Yes, walked out! The sandwich board out front says "Warning! Very Good Vietnamese Coffee here." I'm definitely game for Vietnamese Coffee since first trying it in South Philly in the '90s. But even if what they had was superb, i.e., beyond "Very Good," I'm not paying $9 bucks for a small cup... that is even if they danced for me like Johnny Rockets. (Keep in mind, just read debt incurred by Johnny Rockets is leaving them cash strapped.) Kawaii Cafe's "Warning!" is right! As a coffee drinker, understand the tariffs have increased underlying coffee prices, but even given that, their pricing is just over the top!!! It's not cute like the Japanese culture phenomenon they're espousing. Perhaps the Kawaii team thought that the crowd from the IG/TikTok obsessed FOMO tourists who line up at L'Industrie Pizzeria across the street would line up also here to shell out just to take a pic to post and boast?! Did they expect one of those suckers "born every minute" to walk in? Or did they consult the psychic that used to operate in this very storefront who "predicted" the future? Nope! My mama didn't raise one of those suckers - Kawaii Cafe is something to pass by! This neighborhood has had a big turnover of shops after the Sex and The City "Magnolia Bakery" effect drove its trendiness, which pushed out the OG businesses and upped commercial rents. Recently, this block, in particular, has had a number of new food spots that definitely caused increased foot traffic beyond people going either to or from the riverfront, PATH train, or Friends apartment establishing shot building on Bedford & Grove. That being said, hope Kawaii Cafe's landlord collected the rent in advance for whatever the terms of the lease are! Or at least had the next tenant lined up!

What a cute coffee shop this is that just recently opened. I found them on social media and wanted to check it out. It is a Vietnamese coffee shop and it also has a cute logo that is the owners dog. This shop is owned by two sisters and one of them was there when I was there and she was very nice and we had a little conversation and she told me which drinks she recommends. I did the Netflix and chill one without the Jelly on top. I highly recommend this place if you like or want to try Vietnamese coffee.

This is such an adorable shop that serves all of these creative flavors of Vietnamese coffee. Their cream-topped matcha drinks are all amazing. We are looking forward to trying their Valentine's Day special edition drinks too. The owner is also such a sweetheart and so welcoming to everyone! Thank you!

A new cute cafe in west village! Very thoughtfully decorated and the menu was pretty extensive (love the names of the drinks)! The drinks are on the pricier side and the service was quick and friendly. I wouldn't come here every week, but once in a while this would be a great place to visit. The matcha is nice quality and I would love to try their other drinks in the future.

I've been wanting to get Vietnamese coffee and this spot definitely hit. The café itself is super cute and cozy, with such a welcoming vibe the moment you walk in. You can tell a lot of thought went into the space, and even the coffee names are adorable and creative, which makes the experience even more fun.The owner was so sweet and kind. She took the time to explain the drinks and recommended which ones to try, which I really appreciated that kind of service makes all the difference.I got the Situationship, which comes with condensed milk, espresso, coffee jelly, and your choice of milk I went with oat milk. It was so good, smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. The coffee jelly added such a fun texture and made the drink feel unique.I also tried the latte called Deez Nuts, which is a peanut butter latte with condensed milk, espresso with oatmilk and peanut butter. It sounds fun, but it tastes even better. It was creamy, flavorful, and something different from your usual latte.Overall, I loved my experience here. The drinks were amazing, the owner was incredibly kind, and the whole place has such a great vibe. I'm definitely coming back to try the matcha drinks next. Highly recommend if you want to try something new and special.

Ham & Cheese Croissant & Iced Ghosted

I walk by this every day and this was my first time in! The spot is cute, the iced coffee is good, the ham and cheese croissant is delicious, and the staff was lovely! Overall a great experience

Prices are actual highway robbery $10 for a 16oz cup of iced coffee, but many drinks come with cream and coffee jelly already so I thought I'd give it a try. However, the picture showed a significant layer of coffee jelly on top, yet the drink I received had 3 pieces of jelly at most. For $10, my drink wasn't even filled to the top. I can't imagine coffee jelly being so expensive for a store to be so stingy abt it. Menu pictures most certainly should reflect the actual drink given -- either change the menu pictures or better yet actually add more coffee jelly. Coffee was decent but nothing special, certainly many better and more affordable cafes in manhattan!

The Vietnamese coffee is amazing with their little spin on it. I had the deez nut peanut butter coffee and it was truly delicious. I paired it with the banana creme pie danish which was also excellent. The service was great too, the woman at the desk was very helpful with choosing our items and it made us want to return again soon. Very cute, although tiny shop, has room for a few patrons to sit. They have hot and cold options for coffee in case you need yours iced, but we're here during winter so we needed a warm one!

Love checking out new local businesses! I had a lovely visit with the owner and a really good iced coffee. Wishing this spot all the best!

The cookie I was most excited for was the corn cookie and the chocolate chip also looked really good. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by the black & white cookie because for some reason I thought it was a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips, but it was actually just a regular cookie with black and white chips lol. The cookies themselves were really solid though. Nice light crisp around the edges with a chewy center without being overly gooey or underbaked. Definitely on the thicker side too, which I liked. Next time I'll have to try one of their espresso drinks!

The Jeju Green Tangerine Matcha honestly just tastes like a tangerine selter drink but in the best way, because I don't typically enjoy seltzer or carbonated beverages. I really enjoy the flavor and the carbonation isn't too strong, probably because I brought it home to drink. I don't really taste the matcha but I would definitely still order this again. 2. Matcha Einspanner. This is my first time having an Einspanner so I have no idea what I was expecting but this is DELICIOUS. It's so silky and smooth and the TASTE is just right up my alley. The matcha is light but you can still taste it. Absolutely, would drink this all the time if I could. 3. Purple Sweet Potato Latte. This. This. Omg, why haven't I tried this sooner?! The first sip and initial taste, I almost tasted nothing, just milk. And then all of a sudden, there's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. As a sweet potato lover, I was in heaven. I have absolutely no words for this drink, just try it. 100/10 recommend. This is probably my favorite one out of the 3 that I bought. I went around ... 2:45PM on a Friday and most of the seats were taken, if I remember correctly. There were a decent amount of seats and the space was decent. I liked the minimal aesthetic they had for the design of the interior. Not to forget, the staff at the register was absolutely wonderful, she answered all my questions, she's so sweet. I think I'm disappointed that I haven't tried this place sooner. Y'all get out of your comfort zone and try the Purple Sweet Potato Latte !! Or if not, just try this place out. I will definitely be recommending the Purple Sweet Potato Latte to all my family and friends.

I ordered an iced matcha einspanner ($6.95) with oat milk ($0.75) and loved that it already comes with a shot of espresso, so it was essentially a dirty matcha einspanner. I tried each layer on its own before mixing everything together and it was all really good. The matcha cream is the right amount of sweet and creamy and you can taste the matcha with just a hint of coffee. Since I'm a coffee fiend I added a bit more espresso when I got back to the hotel and it tasted even better while still keeping the matcha as the dominant flavor. Next time I would ask for less ice since it was freezing that morning, but on a warmer day the ice level would be perfect. Would love to come back to try their other drinks or order the einspanner again as a hot drink.

It's pricey, but welcome to FiDi. My one complaint is they try to upsell you. Walking the streets close to my hotel I stumbled across a big PuertoRican flag infront of a…read morebusiness and I knew I wanted to check out what it was. It happened to be 787 Coffee which I have visited plenty of times on the island and enjoy. With excitement and in Spanish I tell the cashier that I was happy to come across this place as I have tried them out in PR. How is it that this "jibara" apparently from Maricao, spoke to me in broken English while I am talking to her in our native language, total fail. Anyhow, I ordered the coquito hot latte with an extra shot of rum and oat milk, fine, I paid $11 for a very small coffee. Now what I can't believe is that the quesito pastry was $8. I really wanted it but it was not until I paid that I then noticed the price. I sat to eat it while I waited for my name to be called as mentioned by the cashier. I walked around looking at everything, the music very loud and hard for people sitting to have conversations, the place is very colorful and with many PR sayings, however the place also feels very Americanized with the music and layout. I still awaited my name to be called minutes later, but nothing. I approached the cashier, who was just standing there, to ask about my coffee and she wasn't able to tell me so she asked the barista steps away from her. He pointed to a cofre sitting on their counter, it had my name, and when I pointed out that I was waiting for my name to be called, she shrugged her shoulders and smiled like she didn't care. The coffee by now was not all that hot, I never tasted any rum or coquito flavor and felt I wasted my time at this place. What's more upsetting is that I left a nice tip for a service that was not provided. They couldn't even bring the coffee ti my table once they realized it was sitting there and they forgot to call my name. You can find better service elsewhere.
