Great coffee and great options for food, especially vegan. The person who took our order was very friendly and helpful. It's a nice little store with a casual vibe. The granola bar: (4 stars) was fruity (not overly sweet) and delicious. Hubby wolfed it down. They had a variety of vegan scones as well as other baked good. Cheddar quiche: 5 stars. Delicious. Loved the Brussels sprouts and mushroom. Veggie sandwich : (added vegan pate) 3.5 stars. Pretty fresh, pate was ok. But not my favorite. Vegan salami sandwich: 4 stars. Well balanced with fresh veggies and salami. Lavender cardamom latte: much better than I thought. Did oat milk. Very creamy. I won't rate it since I'm not a coffee aficionado. I liked that they were open earlier than some of the other coffee spots. Staff there were super nice and helpful, always a plus for me. It's a cute rustic place that sells local items as well. Coffee was strong and good, I love that they used ice cubes made from coffee in my iced latte. They do have a good mjx of milks and not just half n half. They do not offer any sugar free flavors syrups but they have Splenda. I ordered a few bakery items and none of they were a disappointment but the Greek quiche was my favorite. After merely surviving thru a desert of mediocrity in the Waikoloa resort area an oasis presented itself. Yet again the hippie and alternative places proven themselves to be places for good nutrition and excellent coffee. Awesome vegan-friendly cafe with tons of delicious baked goods! The display cases were full of treats, and everything was well labeled with vegan/gluten free indicators. We ordered a large hot and iced white mocha, green smoothie, Egg & Cheese on Everything Bagel, Pete Special, and a Lazy Samoa. The coffees were strong and flavorful without being overly sweet. The smoothie was fresh and the ingredients worked well together - It does not look green because of the blueberries but tasted very good! The egg and cheese bagel was good and satisfying. The Pete Special is a handful but so delicious! The pesto cream cheese was delightful! The ambiance was also chill and had a lot of local goods for sale. Service was decent. We were in need of a post lunch coffee and treat, and were so lucky to find this spot! It's located right off the road with ample parking in front. There's a porch out front with all open windows and doors, so a very comfortable and casual atmosphere. They also have a bathroom, thank goodness! My group ordered lots of sweets and iced lattes. I was craving something sweet so I ordered a slice of haupia guava pie. It was absolutely delicious! Not too sweet or dense so very refreshing from a long hot day. I also noticed that they add frozen iced coffee cubes as their ice for their drinks. Even though I didn't order an iced drink, I definitely appreciate that so drinks aren't watered down! read more

The green smoothie is so delicious and packed with antioxidants. It's our favorite here. Their breakfast sandwiches/bagels are also simple and healthy and exactly what we were looking for. We're in the more touristy side of Kona so it's harder to find simple and clean foods. They also have really good coffee (and they offer the option of coffee ice cubes in your ice latte) so that it doesn't get watered down. The staff is really friendly and sweet as well. While en route to Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park, we had asked around where we should seek out Kona coffee. When our waitress at Rebel Kitchen immediately suggested Kaya's without hesitation, we knew that was the one. Upon parking, a gal stopped us and said "you have come to the best coffee shop in town. I visit before every work shift and how they roast their coffee doesn't cause me jitters or shakes like other cafes." Truthfully, I wanted the caffeine shakes but appreciated her input. She also mentioned that they truly care for how their organic beans are sourced. Score! This coffee shop is housed in a historic heritage building which was previously Ushijima Store. It maintains that appeal with fresh flowers, produce and featuring products for sale by local artists. The menu is extremely extensive while keeping our vegans, vegetarians, and celiac friends in mind. Although we didn't have any remaining space in our bellies, we were tempted to take a pastry or two on our park visit. However, I did order an iced Cardamom Lavender Mocha with macadamia milk simply because it sounded unique. I was impressed how all the flavors jived together without any one of them being overwhelming. My partner had a basic americano, yet there was nothing basic about it since the natural coffee flavors were impeccable. He tried to talk me into returning on our way back to town. Finally got a chance to stop in at this place. Parking in front is always crowded. I was visiting family on the island. I remember this place as a mom and pop store a while back. Richard was the owner. We ordered an Expresso, Macha Latte, and assortment of Granola bars. Everything was average and priced competitively. Granola was a little chewy, but ok. It's more of a laid back and cozy atmosphere. The seating was very limited inside and out, probably due to the pandemic. It's a great location where everyone has to pass off the main road. You need a MacNut MacNut milk latte to be extra extra? Go ahead, you're covered at Kaya's. Loads of pastries that are being freshly made, friendly baristas; feels like you're in someone's home with all local vendors being supported behind you and you can see the fridge- so you know the broc is fresh in your frittata! Genevieve, Hayley (so?) and the crew here are all so wonderful! I first visited in February of 2022, and returned this year. This is my fave place in Kona - and not just for the coffee! There are so many coffee shops, and even with Kona beans, they're not all great. Kaya's is the best. Mocha is smooth but not disgustingly sweet. They have so many options and every drink I tried was really spectacular! The food is off the chain delicious! We had soup and a sandwich for dinner and it was all so flavorful as well as healthy. Last year we had a curry soup with chickpeas, yum! This year we tried a veggie soup and also so good. Fresh ingredients, lots of flavor without being too salty, etc. We also had baked goods - a local dog bread (forget the name completely), as well as baked goods. Oh so many cookies! All were just scrumptious! I look forward to going back next year and stopping by at least once per day for great food and friendly people! read more

Popped in for a quick breakfast before the SoKA artist studio tour and had a nice meal. Boho coffee n homemade goodies with a clientele that are friendly, no one wearing shoes, and someone playing a guitar. Locals are dropping in with their dogs and kids and it feels fantastic. Even the lizards are friendly and 2 came onto our table begging for food and joined us for breakfast, excellent manners :) They have baked goods out on display and there is a menu for cooked foods, bagel sandwiches etc. I plumped for the greek quiche, even though it was gluten free it didn't taste like it. Creamy, full of tangy olives and feta, it was delicious. The lizard's fave too. My friend ordered an avocado bagel which was tasty and piled high. The coffee was excellent and my decaf was soooo good. I would definitely recommend this boho coffee house for excellent coffee and home baked goods that include vegan and gluten free and decaf. I would have driven by this place had I not been paying attention so make sure to keep an eye out. I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but absolutely respect the Pete Special breakfast which is an everything bagel with pesto cream cheese, egg, onion, cucumber, tomato, avocado and bean sprouts. *Chef's kiss* I would imagine that organic or vegan eaters would love their menu, but if you're like me, this is a delicious option no matter what.
